Nothing changed. Tbarr 19:05, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well monk Bars have RoJ instead of Signet of Judgement.
- it was roj last year too 131.104.16.155 19:21, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, these are all the same builds as last year. --Musha 19:37, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

same bars?
Is this some kind of joke, this is the one little event I look forward too because every year it's different and it's fun to play cap points with the same bars, but you couldn't even be bothered to change the builds...
Fucking, disappointment... --frostels 19:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Disguises x 2
there are villain and hero disguises now...
mhenlo, saul dallessio, ossa, etc
- please list all costumes seen. also, heroes and villains can be assigned to same team right? it's not heroes vs villains? the table out front will need to change obviously, but we need to know all available costumes. --VVong|BA 21:31, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- No i've gotten Palawa and Mhenlo on the same team.216.244.51.227 22:38, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Points Bugged?
It's only awarding 10 points per win, not the advertised 15 points. 99.152.113.218 21:39, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- can anyone confirm? --VVong|BA 21:55, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- I can confirm, you get 9 points + 1 per consecutive wins, just like before. Xaphan67 22:04, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- I am now getting 15 points per win. Frap 23:18, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

- to be fair, the point system in this minigame is obviously an outlier when compared to other minigames. it's a massive nerf, but it does bring the rewards in line w/ other games. what would be an even more horrible nerf is if they keep this random team system for other minigames. if they plan to do that, i hope they at least offer tourney versions of everything where ppl can play an organized version for higher rewards. i'm a minigame enthusiast and will definitely play less if i have an equal chance of getting a scrub every single match. --VVong|BA 18:41, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Automatic Sync-breaking ?
Is it me, or do teams get broken after a certain number of wins ? (I'd say 5). Have had twice everyone in my team leave the same second, and began anew with new team members... Lonezolf 01:10, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

- GG no more fag syncers, unless they'd try to re-enter sync after every match muahahahahaaaaa --Suxon my Kurdick 05:13, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- H8 this you finally get a competent team of players then your broken up and end up with retards! -_- It is horrible worse then when they messed up ra. Will not play cb as much this year now --92.12.26.32 12:40, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Slightly agreed. You explain things to new players, they start playing better, and then bam, byebye. Rinse and repeat. Took away the fun of CB from me too.79.139.2.195 13:51, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed here as well. Just about everyone hates the sync joiners, but I wish they'd found a different way to handle the problem. Part of the fun of all the event arenas in the past was finally finding that team of randoms you could get a huge win streak with after trudging through a bunch of aggravating losses. I definitely won't be doing much costume brawl this year, and will hope an alternative "fix" is implemented for the snowball fight. —Vendetta411 11:39, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- Disagree, the newbies will be joining both sides. It will make personal skill more important, instead of relying on a team to roll you through the matches. 81.206.253.73 19:56, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Nah personal skill don't count for anything when 2-3 players of your team is giving other team free points.--92.3.158.41 01:05, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- Personal skill MAY work in DA, but not here. You just have NO chances alone against 5. So basically right now the game boils down to whose team reads the chat and responds to the radar pings. Wow, thanks. If I wanted random I'd go play "One Armed Bandit" (or whatever it's called) instead. Unless you'd stay with your team long enough so that teaching people to read the chat and radar had any point. Oh and... leavers, leavers everywhere! 79.139.2.195 17:24, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

- I remember how much fun I had during DA two years ago, when my completely random team turned out to be so awesome we kicked syncers. And now they're on my friend list, which I cannot say about people I "know for one round". 79.139.2.195 17:24, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Costume Brawl used to be fun, though my favorite will always be DA. And while I occasionally liked to run around solo, the "team" aspect of them was at least half the fun. Get through a couple of games with the same team, and you get to learn your teammates' styles of play. I could safely trust (for example) a teammate to go and start capping if the occasion demands it. Or I could trust them to be able to hold their own in a fight. (The opposites are of course also true, i.e. I would know when I needed to go and help). Now, every member of your team is a potential liability (unless of course you've played with/against them before). You don't know what they'll do. Are they rage quitters? leechers? noobs? will they cap? can they fight? can they heal? follow a target? do they know when to retreat? when to attack? I'd go on but...the list is endless. The point is, you don't know the answer to any of those questions until you play with them, and by then it's often too late. Even victory is a loss - the loss of your team. I used to rejoice when I saw a good player on my team. Now all I can think of is how even if we win, that player will be gone. I used to like giving advice to players I thought needed it. Now most of the time I don't bother - they're going to be gone by the end of the match. Someone might say "Oh well you should give advice anyway, after all it's all about helping the less experienced players get better, blah blah blah". That is definitely NOT my main goal. Sure I'll help you if you ask, or I see you need it. But mostly I want to WIN. I want to have FUN. I go on GW for my enjoyment, not so I can preach tactics to noobs - which is what I'd have to do every single game, in order to have any effect. I'll stop here before I make any more enemies...As a last word, if this kind of crap happens to DA/SA...it's bye bye GW.
P.S. My use of the word noob is intended be taken at face value; as in, "new player". Also, for the record, I've synced a total of maybe 10 times in my five years of GW and seen enough syncers to last me a lifetime, so think twice before bringing up the whole "this gets rid of those nasty syncers" argument. They were never enough of a problem to cause this kind of crap to happen. --74.111.126.248 04:10, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Are you me? For a second there I thought I was reading my own "post". ;-) Anyway, apart from completely agreeing with you, I just wanted to say one more thing: syncers now leave every match and resync anyway. So, I'm afraid CB is broken for many players without really much being achieved this way anyway (just a minor inconvenience, I'd say). If this happens to DA too, sadly - good bye GW, you're right. Oh and I'm really wondering if syncing is really that bad. I mean, like previously stated, I've been in much better random teams than sync teams in DA, and yes, we had a really long winning streak too. Does this mean we were as "bad" as syncers in other people's eyes? What really is so "bad" about sync teams? I myself enjoy playing against them the most... 79.139.2.195 15:43, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
Good Grief
I enjoy playing monk, but now we're so gimped we can't compete. Seemingly everyone counters us without us even having a chance of fighting back. What gives? Before one atleast had a fighting chance against anyone, but now your only good against meleers while other casters will rip you to shreds. Smite Hex would've been a good addition, seeing how everyone roles eles now. [end QQ] :/216.244.51.227 15:00, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Fun with the costumes
Most of the costumes can dance, but they're not always in sync with the job roles, ie Shiro dances as Warrior, Eve as Elementalist. Wouldn't say it's an anomoly or whatnot, just fun. Try em out and enjoy!--115.30.218.96 15:12, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Do deaths count? XD (I feel slightly stupid asking this) :P 94.3.83.210 16:04, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Skill bars suck this year
Well, to me it seems everyone's skill bar sucks this year. however, they all suck equally so... i guess it kinda balances out. IZZY! COME BACK
- yea have to agree, Sin and Ranger got the best deal overall, the lack of hex removal is really disappointing, was expecting at least a smite hex. --frostels 16:53, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Um sin did NOT get a good deal. They suck this year. The best ones this year are Derv and Para by far. Ranger in there as well.Brian78wa talk 00:23, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- What happened to the "Test Krewe"? Doesn't even look like anyone tests the builds before publishing them. The rangers and assassins builds need a nerf, too much dps with nothing to counter them.173.66.199.224 22:12, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

2 cents
They should replace codex arena with costume brawl. I'm being serious. People enjoy C-Brawl more than they do codex. I mean has anyone actually been to codex lately? C-Brawl has a sealed deck. Has cool costume change stuff that makes the PVE people happy. Has anti-sync measures that make the PVP people happy. If they don't make Costume Brawl the new Codex Arena they should just make it a place you can bet on pet fights. I know, I should have been hired by ANET right? --MooGooGuy 19:53, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'd personally rather have Dragon Arena open 24/7, but you're right: CB is 1000x better than Codex. In fact, WHAT'S CODEX? Anyone plays that?! 79.139.2.195 21:21, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

- I did - once. Zaishen Challenge made me do it. I still regret it. Worst. Game. Ever. ;-P Turning Codex into CB where every class has the same build would be awesome, though. The only problem with that is - who'd prepare those builds? I doubt ANet wants to waste time on that. User-submitted is probably the only way to go, but then again - someone would have to review those. Also, did I mention I'd love to have DA open 24/7? ;-) BTW - with the current CB "random team every match", I'd welcome "random CB" and "team CB" (say, like RA and TA previously) - some people like to play with friends. Moreover, I thought that was the whole point of Guilds. ;-) Getting a suicider every round and trying to convince him not to suicide anymore becomes boring after 10 matches. Thank you, ANet, for making CB much less enjoyable. :-> 79.139.2.195 13:58, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- Arranged teams was the biggest problem with Codex, it's what killed the format for newbs who got rolled over and over again by pro teams. If there was some ladder matching going on, it sure was hard to see it. And even when ya won, ya didn't get crap for it. And the Z-challenge require so many consecutive wins that there was no point trying, even if you were a pro team b/c the format emptied out to a ghost town 9 days after going live. The rewards sucked & the matching sucked. And from what I heard, even RR day was more gratifying than Codex. Reason? The didn't solicit player input during its actual DESIGN. They started off with something everyone said they wanted and then executed all the details in a way no one wanted. --ilr 17:10, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- I completely agree! I hated Hero Battles (too much micro mgmt and the AI could be easily exploited) but I loved the map concepts which are reflected in Costume Brawl. I'm a huge Random Arena fan and I recall when they briefly included Hero Battle maps in Random Arena. I love the extra depth that's involved with strategizing around the shrines (p.s. love the shrines that spawn npcs too...would be fun to have some Halloween themed npc shrines anet, i.e. 3 undead spawns, phantoms, etc). I am def turned off by Codex Arena, though its a nice idea. I think Costume Brawl ( perhaps renamed) should be a permanent addition or added in place of Codex. It would be nice also if there were multiple personas available with different pre-made builds...continuing the idea of controlled balance between skill sets but also providing some variety for each class. I've been All Skills Unlocked for quite some time and as I'm sure many other players are...other than z-keys to spend out excess Balth faction, perhaps unlocking personas to use in this proposed arena (and other possible venues) could be a potential addition. However it manifests, I love Costume Brawl and think it should DEF be perm!!! --Daydreamingdavey 18:01, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I made this comment jokingly at first but then went to codex on a whim. That arena is dead. Shiverpeak arena sees more action. Which is a real shame because I would like to get the codex title or some sort of equivalent. C-Brawl could easily be changed a little and made into a viable arena. The randomly changing team roster does have an immediate negative effect. I think having the same team builds up some sort of comraderie and is therefore more enjoyable. But, I also think that facing a syncing team or getting defeated over and over by an obviously overpowering team is more of a problem than not having a consistent team. In the end I think it makes the arena more credible. One thing I like about both RA and C-Brawl is that I can be playing some PVP in about 4 minutes. Every other form of PVP takes a considerably longer time to get underway. Would be cool to be capable of choosing your characters skin and of course a wider variety of character skins. I am way past 2 cents at this point.--MooGooGuy
- Codex is a cool concept but suffers the same problem that TA did. An RA version of Codex might be fun, though... maybe you could even have one where each profession only actually gets a couple of healing skills, then there will be no true monks (smiting and hybrid monks would be OK, though) and so all the monk ragequitting wouldn't happen. 86.147.3.93 22:11, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Fort Aspenwood is a great place. It is like RA, but with more people and objectives. Alliance Battles are not entirely random, but getting a team is usually rather quick (unless you feel the need to gather a balanced PUG), and have a more shrine-based match (oh, and always being stuck in the ugliest levels, Grenz Frontier and Ancestral Lands, gets old very quickly). I would definitely support having a random Codex Arena or a permanent, modified Costume Brawl. –~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) ←♥– 23:53, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

- You could probably loose by undoing your belt buckle. I heard spelling four letter words is hard. Also, shorten doesn't mean "to become more lengthy." ~Shard 19:42, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Leavers
Is there any way to encourage ANet to either ban leavers for some time (1 hour?) or at least increase the amount of dishonour points for leaving a match? It's really annoying as hell now. I know there are players who'd disconnect "involuntarily" (ISP problems or whatever), but those things are rare compared to pure "OH NO, WE HAVE NO MONK, /RAGEQUIT". 79.139.2.195 17:31, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- It is annoying, especially considering they leave for the stupidest reasons ... no monk, the team didn't go to the shrine they wanted, the team didn't score the first point -- none of which are correlated to winning in my experience, so it's a pointless ragequit. Do we know for a fact that dishonor even applies to costume brawl? -- bcstingg (talk • contribs) 20:56, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- yes it does, leave twice and you get dishonour--86.42.65.28 22:19, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- Why would they ragequit because of no monk? --BriarThe Spider 23:15, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- No clue. It's not like you need one to win. -- bcstingg (talk • contribs) 00:54, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- I could see ragequitting because of no derv, Or maybe even no necro (they're pretty strong this year, What with barbed sig+Blood of the Aggressor/Ulcerous lungs), but Monks have never been crazy strong in Brawl. Weird. --BriarThe Spider 01:10, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Most of the time you don't know why people do this, as they don't announce the reason, just /quit immediately. I've also seen ragequits when the enemy was leading 9:7 and we had most of the shrines... Wow. Making them unable to join the game for some time (10 minutes isn't much, BTW, but that's my opinion) for just ONE quit should be enough to make them think before acting the next time. Also, the game definitely needs some on-join info about /resign, as many people still don't know it's possible (and I love seeing the last person who did not /resign just... quit). 79.139.2.195 01:39, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Have a melee weapon set available because it's very easy to use the maps for obstruction.
Honestly?... I'm not sure what exactly the person who put that in there meant, but best case scenario there are still a few logic steps missing for that advice to be applicable. Kay 17:20, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- I don't understand what you mean, it only takes around 600-800 strikes with my ranger's sword to kill there. 79.139.2.195 20:22, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

- In case nobody actually works out what gibberish description was saying: If you are using a ranged weapon and somebody hides behind a wall, (which often happens due to the obstacles littered throughout the arenas) - equip a melee weapon and attack - this moves your character closer, and hopefully around the wall/object - then switch back to your ranged weapon of choice. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 22:28, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Why not just... move? — Raine Valen 0:16, 29 Oct 2010 (UTC)
- 1) Said "note" applies to any area, really. It is rather easy to obstruct projectiles. It's called moving. (^)
- 2) It's a common sense note. If anything, perhaps to be placed on the projectile page. But, I sincerely object to that.
- 3) Melee sets are a common method of getting into point-blank range for PBAoE skills in PvE, and occasionally in PvP. That's probably the mindset of this note, but I'm not sure.
- 4) Bad players lack that logic, apparently. People never cease to amaze me. "... just ... move ..." — Raine
- W, A, S ,D. (Or, if you have skills bound to QWRT, then some weird ninja control scheme that I applaud you for.) They're the best skills in Guild Wars, aside from Tab. Ryuu - Matters. ≡ 02:33, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Too Hard
It's not fair, costume brawl is too hard! =( Everyone kills me and I can't use healing skill because they get interupted. The elementalist is the only fair proffession, when I play ranger, because 1 second spells are too hard to interupt. They should make the ranger have 3 interupts and better attributes so it's more fair =). Before I forget, they should make it so you can team up with upto 2 friends, this would make it more fun and fair on everybody!!! --Silven 00:48, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- No offense, but if you lose every match, it's possible you're a bad pvper. I haven't played much CB this year, but I have seen the builds, and it's much better than last year where only 3 professions were viable. ~Shard 00:55, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Name (Costume Brawl disguise)
Shouldnt all of these names follow this pattern? its more accurate, less confusing, and forms with Saul D'Alessio, Lieutenant Thackeray, Gwen, etc. --Falconeye 08:12, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
