"Blank insignia" armor is not clearly marked[edit]

Wheres the chart of craft materials that are needed for each peice? When I purchased Obsidian Armor for my elementalist, I realized that the "blank insignia" version is not clearly marked as such in the Eternal Forgemaster's crafting list. It's simply labeled "Elementalist's Obsidian Armor"; the description at the bottom of the crafting window doesn't say anything about an insignia slot. This is probably true of Obisidian armor for other professions -- I haven't checked. Since the absence of "blank insignia" in the crafter's description is potentially confusing, someone may want to add a note/warning about it in the article. M47715c00l 23:53, 13 April 2007 (EDT)

Each article has each available bonus type listed in the crafting table. It only takes a little cross-checking to figure out that the insignia armor is the only one in the crafter screen without a bonus, and there is no blank armor listed in the crafting tables. - BeXoR 01:52, 14 April 2007 (EDT)
I think a note would be helpful. I would be scared that the "elementalist obsidian armor" would be a non-insignia one if I were to ever buy obsidian armor :P Maybe just add a small note to this page? Or do we need it on every profession obsidian armor page? - Anja Astor Anja Astor (talk) 02:54, 14 April 2007 (EDT)

In my oppinion, ranger obsidian looks like starter armor. Seriously. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.35.174.122 .

It dyes well ;p — Skuld 19:09, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
If you ask me, Obsidian Armor is with few exceptions one of the lamest 15k sets to get. It's not immediately recognizable, most of em look incredibly plain, even to the point of being confusable with 1k Drok's or something. Totally not worth it, IMO. KrelusDerian 01:33, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Then don't buy it. -Auron 01:34, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
All Obsidian Monk, Elementalist, Paragon and the female Mesmer armors are very well done imo. The others disappoint imo. Hyper 00:13, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh and don't forget about the Obsidian Ritualist armours... 213.233.92.218 13:19, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

what about dervish and necro armor?? cant forget that : P

Dervish looks like elite sunspear imo, Necros stands out from everything else. 178.78.69.158 15:42, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

My meaning:[edit]

I think that this armor is a strange set cuz it has an.......just strange look.--DOHF 15:58, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Salvage?[edit]

Anyone know what salvages from the armor? (dust, shards, ectos, ...) Thanks, --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:PVX:Goodnight L A (talk).

I just salvaged my warrior's FoW gloves on accident, I got 46 Iron Ingots. 71.80.215.163 07:08, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
I salvaged my mesmer obsidian gloves and got 5 ectos. Yay! Yes, I realize this is an epically late reply. Still thought someone would be interested in knowing. http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1886/globs.png - Marisa 03:39, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Just got a friends account, salvaged his for him. Was Male Warrior Chest, Legs, and Feet. I got Ectos and Shards. Will screenshot if you post a note on my talk page wanting screenies. --Saberhagen User Saberhagen Wiki Sig5.png(My Talk) 21:27, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Bad[edit]

Why can't Anet make this armor worth the price, it costs so much but still looks very bad, look at the ranger or warrior armors for instance. The only decent ones are the Paragon's and the Ritualist's. --Soulforged 08:20, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

"hurr i cant afford it so have to overcompensate on wiki"
--Jette User Jette awesome.png 08:22, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, i can afford it, but i'd rather spend my gold on 3 better elite armors than this one. I think the armor design team could've come up with better armor arts for such an expensive set. --Soulforged Mesmer-tango-icon-200.png 22:21, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
When they made it it wasn't expensive, ecto was only about 400g each, it is the community that made it expensive. -- San Darkwood 09:51, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
true enough, this armor needs a Major overhaul. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.16.57.189 (talk).
I'm not a fan either. For a long time I believed this armor was even rarer than it is because I never saw it, then when I started looking harder I realised I'd mistaken several sets for 1k or even starter armor! Considering the only benefit is the oppertunity to show off and 1 HoM point it really should be more distinctive to justify the cost. 109.148.131.142 11:35, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

750k-900k?[edit]

The article said that Obsidian armor is the most expensive in the game, costing from 750 Platinum.gif to 900 Platinum.gif. As with most prestige armor, however, it costs 75 Platinum.gif to craft the entire set. You cannot trade armor, since it is customized when you craft it, so I assume the original author meant that purchasing the materials for it makes it that expensive. Since this was a little obscure, I edited it to being the 'most difficult armor to obtain, due to rarity of materials.' If anyone has any objection to that, feel free to edit the article again, and please explain what I didn't understand. Thanks! --Kohan 01:38, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

It's not the most difficult armor to obtain, it takes longer to grind out EotN titles than it does to get 105 ectos. -Jette User Jette awesome.png 02:06, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Depends on how you make your money, there are some quite bad ways of making money in this game *cough* LA runs *cough* C4K3 User C4K3 Signature.jpg Talk 08:49, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Eotn titles are sooooooooooo easy; it's called hero's handbook, that got me from 3-5, and guess what, 5 is what you need for armor. I got to it from regular quests and one normal mode hero's handbook 96.245.211.38 01:17, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
So when do you plan on maxing the titles? EotN titles take a lot longer than getting the materials for Obby Armour. King Neoterikos 01:49, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
That's very depending. I needed half a year for a free 1000k to spent (other stuff were necessary weapons, upgrades, runes, skills etc.) but only like 3 weeks for the titles. It really depends on your play style. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 02:46, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
all depends on the price of ectos and shards personally mine cost me around 1.5mil (Shadowstep Runner) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 97.120.38.127 (talk).

Is It Hard To Get There ?[edit]

Please someone tell me is it hard to get there ? Or if anyone could help me get this armour (I have the materials needed) please help me. Thank you ! :) Tiberium 11:05, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand how you could possibly have the materials and money necessary to get there and not know enough about the Fissure to craft it yourself. I remember back in the day before completing the Fissure or Underworld yielded immediate rewards, I was part of approximately 0.1% of the population that knew anything about it besides "hurr don't take the quest," but nowadays, if you're managed to collect the materials necessary, you should know how to get the armor. --Jette User Jette awesome.png 16:48, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
better answer is that 90% of some-what organized pugs should get there fine.--66.66.95.26 16:54, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
"organized pugs"
You don't play much, do ya? --Jette User Jette awesome.png 17:04, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
It's not hard to get there as long as you have a decent team, of course it's not easy as regular explorable areas but like i said before if you have a decent team it shouldn't be a problem. --Soulforged Mesmer-tango-icon-200.png 21:45, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Money making these days is easy in Guild Wars. I have enough money to buy FoW Obsi set, but I never ever been in FoW... 213.233.92.218 12:50, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Ahh... :) ... I finally got the armour, and to be honest, this FoW isn't hard... hmm FoW is EASY !!! Really easy :D :D Tiberium 23:15, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, with 6 discord necros, you don't even need to be organised. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Moo Kitty (talk).

Requirments for obbsidan armor are you must be ascended to get into FoW, the approperiate materials and the plat. also you must accept 2 10k xp quest to craft the armor in FoW, which is why lowest lvl obby armor is 7.

I know why this armor sucks![edit]

I've figured out why this armor lacks intricacy, save for a few sets. I know why this armor is so bland. Everything we put into HoM gives us a unique reward in Guild Wars 2... so all Obsidian armor we put into HoM will give us the most amazing armor ever in Guild Wars 2. Quick, everyone, break out all your ectos! --Aldarik 17:30, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

W/ a capital "J". Anyway, the male ele armor looks fine. it looks nothing like pre armor. Well, maybe something like it, but of course it would have to be in the same theme as other ele armors, right? It looks better, regardless.

Ehh this is a comment to the top you know that u will get ONE reward if u fill 1 hom section so it doesn't matter if u have 33 minis or 20 u will still get the same reward in gw 2 same wiht armors--87.227.96.88 11:13, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Lowest level with Obsidian armor[edit]

I believe that its level 8. Prophecies character to Cantha ascending there and gonig in at level 3? then getting the 15k exp or 25k to level 8 then getting the armor. I have a level 8 with Obby armor atm. To get chaos gloves you need to be level 10 + all the mission = 10x 2.5k exp +2k exp assuming you dont take the 3x10k ( i think you only need to take the quests not the rewards? I think to get chaos gloves and obby armor the minimum level is level 13--Nataliexxx 01:02, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Actually, all you have to do to get to the Central Transfer Station is beat Destruction's Depths. You don't need to have the quest, just beat the mission. That's what my assassin did. Nivawk 09:17, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Not exactly sure how I managed it, but my Mesmer is actually level 7 with Obby. Finished up with him this past Saturday, so it's not as a result of an old bug or anything. Just made a new Warrior, shooting to get it with him at level 6, will post here once finished with results. --I Haz 03:18, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Yes currently the lowest lvl to get obby is lvl 7 and the lowest lvl to get chaos gloves is 10. you used to be able to get obsidian armor at lvl 4,but now you have to do 2 quest in FoW to craft armor which is 20k xp opposed to 10k xp +quest xp. So yes it is possible to have seen a lvl 4 with obsidan armor but currently lvl 7 is the lowest you can obtain obsidan armor, so you can obby and chaos gloves at lvl 10.(Shadowstep Runner)

Ive seen a lvl 4 derv with obby...guess he got a ferry and a sanctum run to ascend --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.94.172.228 (talk).

Assuming no XP from mob kills, which adds quite a lot, we have 2,000 (Take the Shortcut (Skip Tutorial)) + 250 (Quiz the Recruits) + 250 (Chahbek Village) + 250 (Primary Training) + 3,000 (Welcome to Cantha) + 1,000 (Vizunah Square) + 3,000 (Finding The Oracle) + 3,000 (Closer to the Stars) + 1,000 (Nahpui Quarter), for a sub-total of 13,750 XP, or level 5 and a half. This is the absolute minimum (as far as I can tell) amount of XP you can gain in your way to FoW, and remember, you're bound to get some from combat. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 05:32, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

So map teleport to Nahpui for ascension of your level 1 from factions/nightfall, (augury rock would give you 50k xp which is bad here) followed by map teleport to ToA/zin ku corridor/chantry + any combat xp. Estimated costs[edit]

moved from Obsidian Armor

Costing roughly 1.6 million gold to have a full set crafted, due primarily to the cost of materials. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.2.241.211 (talk • contribs) at 08:03, 15 February 2011 (UTC).

once more into the breech[edit]

the ecto and obby icons link to their respective mat pages but the other two recipe items link to "https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Crafting_material" and "https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Rare_crafting_material" very unfair to noobs who must now either guess or make 2 armor runs. 1 to find out because if its got 1 error who is to say its not got more? and a second time to actually acquire it. Yeah, the world is after you. It's a big wiki conspiracy! 'They' are after Sleen. OMG.
First two materials depend on the class that is being palyed and are thus shown on each class specific obby armour site. Steve1 (talk) 15:51, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
