Repeat[edit]

Who do I talk to to Repeat this dunguon. I guesed it would be Deeprunner but he dosn't do anything interesting after the first time. What do I do? Laurielegit 09:42, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I had the same problem at first, then I figured out how to fix it. Just leave the area, then come back and do it again. You cannot accept the reward and start without leaving the outpost you start in.--Yankeefan984 21:30, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

NPC death at Freezie[edit]

"* If Koris Deeprunner dies at Freezie, the chest will not spawn." Just did it today and Deeprunner died where Freezie was. Chest did spawn, so it must be either fixed or i did something wrong. COLDshiver 02:25, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

ah, but I just did it and he did die, and the chest did spawn --Vhalantru 01:08, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

I think you are overthinking this, is not due to where he dies but how long he is dead, if his corpse disappears he was dead too long and his corpses goes away. Still possibly a bug but maybe not someone care to update this?

Freezie is not a 'Boss'[edit]

I just got a "Boss Hunt Bounty" before Freezie and it didn't give me any points for killing him and left the bounty on. Can anyone else confirm that Freezie is not a boss, but with 'boss aura'? ※OhYo 07:25, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Freezie is probably a boss-like creature, more than anything. Yukiko User Yukiko Sig.png 20:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
He is a boss now, killing him completed my boss bounty. Etienne 17:19, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Neither Freezie nor the Angry Snowman that drops the blue gate key completed the Boss Hunt Bounty for me. 12 September 2010.
Completed mine just now.. Got 200 for killing him and an additional 200 for boss bounty. Sorry just exited so no pic :( but there is one down belowwww about fluctuating rep that also shows completion of boss bounty. Fright01 × 11:38, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Using Mantra of Frost[edit]

Probably shouldn't have that note on the page. Unless they've been updated, the snowman attacks don't do cold damage, only the ice darts and avalanche effects cause cold damage. I took MoF while doing some runs through that dungeon, and was dissapointed that snowmen seem to do some other sort of damage. Yukiko User Yukiko Sig.png 20:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Maybe than the notes should say snowmen don't deal cold damage and are not weak to fire (I assumed they would be). Etienne 14:37, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Snowmen do use cold attacks as I use Mantra of Frost to farm golds off them in HM. 76.6.79.104 23:25, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Fluctuating Reputation?[edit]

Anyone else had issues with getting different amounts of Reputation Points from the same boss in the same mission and under the same circumstances, for no apparent reason, or not getting Reputation Point bonuses for bounties that you completed? I have been. As you can see in the screen-shot below I did the Secret Lair of the Snowmen quest/dungeon five times in a row to test out some issues I've been having, and was able to take screen shots of the bugs/glitches/inconsistencies that I encountered. In the first shot you can see that I had the Boss Bonus before I killed Freezie but did not get the bonus, and the Boss Bonus remained on me till the mission was completed, never registering his death. In the 4th shot down you'll see that I only got 150 Reputation Points from killing Freezie instead of the 200 that you normally get. No explanation as to why either.

hunt rank -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 05:02, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
A random +4-+6 per kill would not make a difference of 50 points on a boss, and even when I don't have them I get 200 and not 150, the 150 is just a 1 out of 10 fluke or something.
Actually, upon further though, I guess I should have posted this on Gaile's page so that it might have gotten addressed as an issue. Hum... ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 05:05, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
The bonus you get for a boss depends on how many enemies you've killed under the bounty, and increases every 50 kills. Note that when you got 150 points, it was just before you got your 150th kill, but get 200 points if it's after. See Bounty-like blessing --Valshia 06:36, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
I see, then what about the bonuses that I so often don't get? ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 07:32, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
It seems to me that I get 50 points with Rank 1, 100 with Rank 2, 150 with Rank 3, and 200 with Rank 4. If you usually have Rank 4, but didn't on one particular run, that would explain it. See what your Dwarf Raider Rank is next time it happens. Miss Innocent 03:41, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

I believe the amount of points you earn for killing a boss has to do with your current hunt rank. Kstarfire 05:12, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
I've done the mission dozens of times on various characters, often with my fiance as well, and most of the time we get 200, both of us, but very seldom do we have the same Dwarven Rader rank much less the same bonuses at the end. There have been a lot of times when I never got higher than Dwarven Rader Rank 2, but quite often I finish with Dwarven Raider Rank 4. Just like I sometimes don't get a Rampage Bonus, and other times I still have one on when I get the Rampage Bonus again. I really don't think I'm consistently getting enough of the same bonuses to almost always get 200, but somehow got a penalty bonus that dropped me back to only 150 once or twice every dozen times. ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 05:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
It has to do with how many kills you have. --Deathwing 05:14, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
So you have to crack 150 kills in order to get 200 from the boss instead of 100? I guess that's plausible because the number of enemies varies and the number of kills actually counted tends to vary, and I guess once in a while I might not hit 150 before I kill him.
That still doesn't explain why I don't get the bonuses on occasion, like in the first shot compared to the rest. ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 05:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

When you have like fifteen characters on your main account, and seven accounts in total, you can't afford to give every Hero you have unlocked a great weapon.  ;) The character I was playing with when I did those runs, was another Elementalist character that I made less than a week ago. lol ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 05:30, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Was Freezie the 150th kill in the first shot? You wouldn't get the bonus points if killing him is what gave you the bounty. --24.179.151.252 05:35, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't think I've ever gotten it at the end like that, usually I get it in the second to last group before, and I checked the full shot witch was taken after I went in to the end room and got the chest, which doesn't take over five minutes, and I didn't still have the bounty on me then, so I doubt it. I have had it last after killing him until I was already in the last room and then it wore off after the dwarf started talking, on more than one occasion. I guess it could just not be counting his kill like many kills don't get counted, even the main page about the dungeon talks about how you can kill a whole group and not get credit for half of them. ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 05:45, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Sorry, I know this is a repeat of content already on this page, but it doesn't really belong on my personal discussion page. I'll make a redirect, and folks with input can post it here. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 16:06, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh of course not, you'd never want someone to post about a possible bug or issue on your page because you might actually have to do your job and make mention of it to the Devs. You'd much rather everyone just talk about how cool you are or how much they like mini-pets. Sorry for being such an inconvenience and expecting you to actually do something productive, sorry, I should know better by now. My mistake.  ;) ~ User:J.Kougar J.Kougar 17:18, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Same Skin diffrent Names[edit]

You'll know that there are several skins that appear with diffrent names (and vice versa, but nvmd). I thought per area would always only be one name for this skin, but i got â Battlepick and a Piercing Axe here. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 16:11, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Light of Deldrimor[edit]

I think a seperate Light of Deldrimor section is better, than just list the Ghost warrior in the list of allies (even if this one ally is the only thing you can reveal in the dungeon.) That's why I had added a new section to as a part of the notes. So you can find this topic easier. But that may be just my opinion.Balwin 17:57, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

OK, there is no discussion about this point. So i'll re-add the Light of Deldrimor sub section. Balwin 09:49, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

I don't actually have EotN yet, but I was wondering is this dungeon still repeatable after Wintersday? I'm assuming it is, but... you never know with aNet anymore ^_^ Silavor UserSilavorSigIcon.png 02:23, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

yes obviously. The reward is the chest of wintersday Past--Yankeefan984 21:30, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

No XP from mobs[edit]

Anyone else get this? The fact that these mobs, out of all the mobs in the game, don't give XP is super lame to me. I mean..wtf is the point?

check what lvl alot of this stuff is. if you could get in as lvl 15 you might get it. but some of its real low and dies quick ~the rat~
The mobs do give XP to heroes, but there is the 5 lvl to player difference rule, and they dont give XP to players. I have had several heroes level in there.Farlong 15:11, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
The mobs should actually give henchmen, as a 5 level difference should give xp (it is if you are 6 levels or above different that you dont get xp). And every1 should be within that parameter, since you have to be at least lvl10 to get to GW:EN and max level is lvl 20, and these are lvl 15 creatures (15-5=10, 15+5=20)Crimmastermind 07:29, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
@First comment: The point is 1) to remember what's like on Wintersday and 2) to get lots of Dwarven rep from easy to kill foes so players don't have to grind dungeons just to obtain Dwarven ranked items. As to experience, they don't drop gold or lockpicks either. 76.6.79.104 23:31, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
I have experienced this as well. Even if you get 0 XP it shows the green +0 Xp if I remember right yet it doesn't here. Also I have a LVL 5 pet that has not leveled at all during my runs. Somebody should put something in the notes category about it. -- Natalie Black User NatalieBlack sig.jpg 02:01, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
The 5 level to player difference rule is irrelevant here. In hard mode they're level 25 and you still don't get any xp from them. Having said that, there was at least one guy who DID give xp (the Angry Snowman with the Dungeon Key - he uses non-snowman skills though; the level 22 wintersday moa birds also give xp). 207.216.235.240 08:57, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Snowmen in the Wall...[edit]

Well, the snowmen near the second Shrine will sometimes be inside the wall... That is really crappy. I just got a gold drop from one of them... And I can't get it. -.- I'm not sure, but if I remember right, you are allowed to get the items you didn't pick up if you wait for the 3 minutes when the dungeon is done, but I'm not sure about that... But then, I realise that Koris isn't with me (his name is grey) and goes back to look for him. And there he stands, stuck on a Locked Chest... So I didn't get my gold weapon this time. That sucks. I am very annoyed right now... Ironboot 23:03, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Pathing errors, and I don't know why there are snowmen that far in. Anyone try shadow stepping to them? Calor (t) 23:04, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I just had a run where the snowmen spawned inside the wall too, it was right near the area map. And my Koris was stuck on a locked chest too (I even opened the darned thing).Miss Innocent 03:47, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
You'll notice that most dungeon maps are actually clones of other dungeon maps with a wall changed here and there. If you stepped up to the wall and flipped your view to first person you'd see a hallway on the other side. As Calor has said, it's just a pathing error. Try using shadow steps from either the Necromancer or Assassin skills. 76.6.79.104 23:36, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Obtaining the Dungeon Key[edit]

Perhaps I'm just an awful player, but my party always wipes when I kill the snowman who drops the Dungeon Key -- the tightly packed traps everywhere always kill my stupid henchmen. Flagging doesn't help much, as the traps are too close together to avoid, and the snowmen can't be pulled. Should I just accept I'll always wipe here when playing with hench, or is there a trick to it? --Mme. Donelle 18:28, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Just flag them as far to the left as possible; at he left wall and don't go near the middle. Slowly flag your way towards the boss... Can be done by just using Mhenlo and Lina and loads of AoE. Ironboot 10:20, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Aha, I thought it might have something to do with the wall. Thanks! --Mme. Donelle 12:01, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
I always hugged the right wall, because it didn't look like there was room to pass behind the traps on the left. Is there an advantage to the left wall? —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.gif 20:44, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
You could always use a bow to agro them out and back you you or sacrifice a henchmen/heroto lure them back. 76.6.79.104 23:38, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Koris Keeps Getting Stuck[edit]

Koris Deeprunner keeps getting stuck on chests. I've had him get stuck on chests on two separate runs that I can remember. I'm not sure if I just go too close to the chests or what (I do open them), but Koris gets stuck and then the dungeon can't complete. I'm not sure if turning off all chest collision throughout the game would fix it (Why does it seem like NPCs always get stuck on the darned things for me?). I'd like to think it would. Allowing the dungeon to finish even if Koris isn't physically at the end would work just fine too. You've got to open the Boss Lock, and there's no other bosses there, so that might make a better trigger for completing the dungeon than Koris walking in. I hope this bug is fixed soon! Miss Innocent 03:51, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm not so sure that it is a bug so much as it is an AI problem. Koris follow you, correct? If this is so then all you would need to do is make him follow you around the chest. Or die. Whatever Engerizer 01:14, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Necrotic Traversal[edit]

I went through this dungeon a few times today and finally managed to end up with a couple of snowmen stuck on the other side of the wall. You end up sitting inside an ice box with no other way out. You can walk through an adjorning wall and see a raised bridge off to the east. Your team is clearly visible as the dividing wall visually disappears but cannot be walked back through. I was able to retrieve a gold item that was dropped but a treasure chest there was just out of reach. One of my heroes was nice enough to sacrifice himself to ensure my safe return to the other side. Lady Elyssa 14:30, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

It should be noted that items dropped by snowmen inside the wall are not automatically collected at the end of the quest, even if you wait for the timer.Lady Elyssa 14:48, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Edge Bomb[edit]

Amazing. Throw in toxicity and rotting flesh and this is incredible. Drop freezies entire group in less than the time it takes to set up the spirits.--118.90.44.49 07:29, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Lockpicks[edit]

Has anyone ever had a lockpick drop in this place?-- 20:14, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't think so. I've done this dungeon hundreds of times now for both reputation and drops and have yet to find one. This weekend was Double Keys/Lockpick drops and I haven't gotten a single one from NM or HM and I solo the dungeon. Magic 20:17, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
I have twice, so far. The last time was yesterday, but the first time was a few months back when I started farming. LanaDarkess 06:55, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Fire Damage?[edit]

After doing this dungeon a few times, I've noticed that the snowmen (Sans angry snowman) don't have any noticeable armor vs cold, or lack of armor vs fire. I think that this information is rather important when making farming builds for this dungeon. Should I put it on the main wiki page?

Air of Superiority[edit]

Worth noteing that you do not gain a random benifit for killing a snowman? --Chan 09:57, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

No. Snowmen don't give experience. Air of superiority only gives u a random benefit if u get experience. Engerizer 01:10, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

No rep when killing Freezie[edit]

Happened just now. I killed all the other snowmen first, and when I killed Freezie he gave no rep. And yes, I had the hunt thing. --Gah User Gah My Name Cant Fi Echomending.jpg Eat my uber regen. 01:31, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Random fluke. I'd say double check you rep and run the run again. If it's the same then report it to a GM. Note: Killing foes in NM after Dwarven rank 8 will cause no reputation to be gained during the run, including boss kills. 76.6.79.104 23:41, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Traps[edit]

Ughh, the environmental traps where you have to get the first key just absolutely slaughter heroes and henchmen. Necromas 00:46, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

One word: Flags. Paddymew 12:39, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Don't really need flags. As long as you scrape the left wall, the heroes and henchmen will follow in single file (except maybe a warrior, who'll get himself killed), and you'll be able to get through there no problem.207.216.235.240 09:00, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
I'm running Discordway, and don't use flags. Most of the time I manage to survive. I just wait til the "fountains" or whatever they are, stop, then try to pull a few snowmen back to the entrance to that area. Usually works, but there has been the odd occassion where lag gets me. LanaDarkess 06:57, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

No zquest[edit]

This dungeon seems to have no zquest associated with its boss. Is it the only one without a zquest? is that noteworthy? --War_Pig5 20:47, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Maybe. There are 18 dungeons and 23 related bosses (counting 4 more for Slaver's and one more for Bogroots). I count 17 dungeons associated with 22 zounties in Depths of Tyria.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:05, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

EoE[edit]

I find that Edge of Extinction works extremely well, but bring Summon Spirits --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.242.239.218 (talk).

Minions also work well here, but minions don't like EoE so it's best to go with one or the other. Random Weird Guy 21:49, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
Yeh, I support this one. Bringing EoE or any other kind of sillyness is completely unnecessary. The importaint skills in this dungeon is no different from any other, Panic, Splinter Weapon and Minion master. I got like 8-10 minute runs in here now in HM. 84.48.54.253 15:14, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Drops[edit]

About 2 or 3 times now, I have noticed that the area with the two mobs of "Mischievous" and "Rogue" snowmen has been stealing my drops. The item comes up in chat, but when I look around for it (including when holding alt), it's not there. Waiting the 3 minutes to be transported back to Umbral Grotto doesn't have it appear in a window either. Does anyone else have this problem? LanaDarkess 07:00, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Is it worth making a note about survivor?[edit]

my math goes like this if u start at 0xp since death 1,337,500 / 2500 = 535... and since u do get xp from 2 foes it may work out a lil less... i know its no points after r8 in normal mode but i think u still can get the xp reward regardless... and if u have a proper hero team its VERY easy to not die in NM... i know its kinda late to note it and i'm sure a few ppl have noticed this but i'm not sure if its noted as a possible way to get survivor Durp da durp 07:29, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

At 2500 exp per 10-15 mins, this would take around 90-130 hours of straight gameplay, making this an extremely inefficient way to get survivor. Compare this to Kilroy Stonekin's Punch-Out Extravaganza!, which gets you survivor after around 4 hours of gameplay with scrolls in HM. Random Weird Guy 21:49, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Where is the location of this dungeon on the world map?[edit]

Or (if that's not applicable), where is this dungeon located in the lore? --219.92.163.175 05:39, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Due south of Slaver's Exile (SE corner of verdant cascades) on world map in the mountains NNE of Ice Tooth Cave. Open the world map while in the dungeon it will show you. Durp da durp (talk) 22:49, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
