Talk:War in Kryta dialogues
Missing?[edit]
Where do dialog 7, 9 and 10 take place? I cant seem to trigger them anywhere :( --Markisbeest
- The same... -- Itay Alon • Talk 14:49, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm with you on this too. Have seen the dialog set in LA, but can't seem to get any of the dialogs from 7 onward to spawn. Langmar and Thackeray aren't even in the camp for me. Kinda a bummer. Leliel 17:45, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- They are completely random. Sometimes they don't happen, sometimes they do. Also, they don't happen in the listed order, they occur in random order. Just keep trying, and you'll get one. I recommend just running back to the portal to Tears of the Fallen and rezoning and then running back to the camp. I had to try several times between each dialogue, and even then, sometimes it would be the same dialogue that I had just watched. --Musha 22:20, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
I've tried rezoning 1000 times and Thackeray and Langmar wouldn't show up in the camp. Finally I had a hunch and left Livia out of the party and voila! There they were. Hope this helps someone in case this is actually a bug of some sort. The Masquerader 17:27, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue 5[edit]
I have complete Thackerays scavenger hunt yet I still can't get this dialogue to happen. I have also witnessed dialogue 2. Does anyone know whats going?--Evil guy563 12:17, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- After completing the scavenger hunt must return to the HoM and witness the dialogue between Gwen and Thackery.--Fogeltje 13:17, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- That is correct. You have to have witnessed this dialogue in order to get Dialogue 5. --Musha 22:21, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- What happens if you've done all three things and it still won't show up? ._. (I'm going to quadruple-check the scavenger hunt thing, but I'm 98% sure I've finished it.) 173.19.202.85 00:54, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- *I'm mostly certain I've finished it because I remember seeing the rejection dialogue. 173.19.202.85 00:55, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Don't forget to talk with Thackeray after completing the scavenger hunt. Select the first option and he says something like "now the hardest part is getting the girl". Without doing that you won't have access to the rejection dialog. -- Magic Talk 01:10, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Figured it out. You have to make sure you wait until Thackeray walks out, at least, until zoning or you'll have to give him one of the items you haven't already "maxed" and do it again. This could be a problem if you've given him everything and then zoned before the dialogue was over. 173.19.202.85 04:33, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Dialogue 10[edit]
Ok, it may just be me, but has anyone else wondered why the White Mantle are in Kessex Peak? And now the Shining Blade are making mention of them being there. Could it be that maybe the White Mantle are attempting to gain access to the Wizard's Tower? I mean, in the quest the Villainy of Galrath we go there to stop a rogue White Mantle from gaining access. Whose to say that the White Mantle didn't learn from him or already know (maybe that's how Galrath found out) how to get into the tower? Passifis 18:07, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue 3-4[edit]
Dialogue 3 and 4 do not always occur in that order. I saw dialogue 4 first, then rezoned and saw dialogue 3. Eive_Windgrace 05:03, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- I noticed that as well. As mentioned above somewhere, the dialogues are probably random, so dialogue 3 doesn't necessarily come before dialogue 4. So don't get distracted by the numbers.--Fogeltje 09:17, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- That's right, the dialogues are numbered in order of release date, not sequence; or, as in the case of dialogues 7-11 which happen randomly, to keep the information consistent. Since the only requirement to witness dialogue 4 is to watch the Trial of Zinn, this dialogue could occur at any time in the sequence of dialogues once the requirement is fulfilled. --Musha 22:23, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue 11[edit]
Probably shows, I've never edited before. Anyway.
Dialogue 11 is a reference to Red vs Blue. Near the start of the first season, Blue Base gets a new recruit, said recruit is told to go to the store and get some engine oil. Or something.
Recruit walks around not knowing what's going on, finds Red Base. Asks for supplies. Red Base, not being a general store, doesn't have them. Instead, he leaves with their flag.
Upon returning to Blue Base, they ask how he got the flag, to which he replies, "I just asked for it." "That actually works?" Replies a fellow Blue Base soldier. 110.174.243.167 17:17, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- May be somewhat based on a scene in The Bourne Identity which has similar dialogue, but I have to admit it's a stretch compared to this. SarielV 10:36, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Dialogu 7-11[edit]
Why are they random? Why do I have to grind for dialogue? Couldn't they just make them play each time you enter the camp instead of forcing you to run back and forth out of the zone on the off chance one of them will play? Why bother putting them in the game if you are going to force people to zone over and over for half an hour just to see them? 114.78.35.145 14:14, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- All these dialogues are absurd. They should just make quest markers like every other important information in the game. This isn't fun and new; it's annoying and new, which is not what it should be. --76.114.80.153 17:44, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- actually these dialogues weren't absurd, they were pretty entertaining, and if you followed the storyline of the whole event you would appreciate it. But i guess most people just want to hurry through it and get to the rewards like everything else. they were added one by one with previous updates. just because you found out about them all at once when you saw "mini livia" in guild chat or something doesn't mean they were added all at once. this is what anet was building up to with the small teasers they released every update or so. idk, i enjoyed it.174.57.132.245 05:46, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- What's sort of absurd is the amount of time you have to spend just running around or rezoning in order to get the dialogues. I don't find that entertaining. The Masquerader 17:16, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Dialogue 12[edit]
Had:
Carden: They say that one of the patrol units was holed up in the jungle for four days eluding Mantle forces.
Jorith: That's nothing, me and two buddies held off an entire guild for fourteen days with only field rations and daggers.
Carden: That was us. Don't you remember, you old fool?
Antwyn: And that wasn't no guild, that was your wife!
They surely know how to talk!! 77.164.17.245 12:19, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
Way too many prerequisites. I truly hope this is not a taste of how quests in GW2 will be handled. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.205.91.43 (talk).
Delete[edit]
This page needs to be deleted. All these dialogues are documented on the individual location pages as is appropriate. This page provides nothing in the way of in game context, making it completely redundant and unhelpful. Very few people care to read these unattached dialogues, rather they search for the locations. -- Wyn talk 17:41, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Actually having these all in one place is usefull when you're trying to figure out which part you've done and which you still need to do. Even if the release date order is a lil bit confusing. DBZVelena | (Talk page) 03:11, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- This was extremely useful for me, and a couple friends. Was very confusing with 20 different people giving you random information, this summed it up nicely. 174.57.132.245 05:44, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Having to go back and forth to the different location pages to get the full story is just pure crap. This page may not be filled with content info, but the page is called War in Kryta dialogues... You come here to see all the dialogues pertaining to the War in Kryta. If it needs to be renamed, so be it, but lets keep it all in one place please. --Musha 15:55, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry Wyn, but I'd have to agree with them. I've found great use in this page to navigate me from place to place. I think it's rather crappy to have to go through each of these dialogs just top unlock some of the WiK features. -- Magic Talk 01:13, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- I've found this page very useful. Especially since I didn't know from the beginning what dialogues are available and where they take place. The Masquerader 17:19, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

What am i missing?[edit]
I've done dialogs 1-5 and everything that goes with them. Dialog 6 isn't showing as I cannot gain access to LA's Keep. x.X I've tried relogging as well thinking it was a glitch. Anyone got an idea? (It worked fine when I did it on my ele ; \) -- Magic Talk 01:18, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- I still don' know what happened. I tried logging off thinking it was just a glitch with no change. I shut down my pc last night and this morning dialogue 6 was active. ; \ -- Magic Talk 16:34, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue 4[edit]
just a heads up, it appears you need to be in the camp for the part where Livia walks over to zinn and escorts them off to trigger. a friend of mine was waiting at the Tears portal for the dialogue to end but that part of dialogue didn't happen. 218.186.10.230 14:21, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, same thing happened to me. I had to run back over from the portal to get the last line to come up. -- FreedomBound 14:26, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Sorry i'am French, and i thus will express myself in French. I would however associate an automatic translation of Google, but be warned for yours ears!
Then, dialog 7, a new masquerade? Oh my God! We are not any more with one masquerade near with Guild Wars and ArenaNet!
Indeed, by what a devil these PNJ which are Thackeray and Langmar don't appear nowhere for dialog 7? Because my God forgive me not to be an engineer mathematician.
Ah but I am stupid… I am not an engineer, then inevitably I have so much time to lose...
You people “others” which as me wasted all this invaluable time, I invite you to pronounce these some old incantations of another time, praying that makes them come Langmar and Thackeray:
SHAZAM ! ABRACADABRA ! Poudre de Perlimpinpin !
Thank you still with you Ladies and Gentleman engineers from Guild Wars and ArenaNet for all this invaluable time wasted for us the “others” which have such an amount of time to lose unlike you who contrary have not...

Another WIK Dialogue[edit]
Just saw a dialogue after the july 8th update between dinas and Salma in the Lions Arch Keep.
- Yeah, this dialogue is already on the page as dialoge # 12. --Musha 17:33, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue 13?[edit]
While in North Kryta Province, in the Ascalon Settlement...
- Player: The inhabitants of this settlement have been evacuated while the White Mantle threaten Lion's Arch.
A little east, after killing the boss Lev the Condemned...
- It's clear that the White Mantle army advanced on this location. If Langmar and Thackaray were indeed here, they would have had to choose between an impossible fight or the treacherous waters below. Nothing remains to suggest the outcome.--BarGamer 07:20, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue 6[edit]
So did the Scavenger Hunt and watched both subsequent dialogues (Gwen and Thackeray #7 - The Rejection, aswell as WiK #5 - Evennia Recruits the Ebon Vanguard), but when i visit the Keep in Lion's Arch, Dialogue 6 is not happening. To be exact, Langmar and Thackeray aren't there, only the usual people.
I did all quests from Salma except "The Battle for Lion's Arch", which i initially had accepted. I tried dropping it and then visiting the keep, as this quest affects the spawns in the keep (Bartholos appears), but didn't help. I left the keep aswell as Lion's Arch several times to do other stuff, including visiting the Ice Cliff Chasm right outside the Eye of the North and the Hall of Monuments, but both locations were as they should be, no Langmar or Thackeray there.
I also visited the keep with different heroes and without, as someone told a friend of me, who has the same problem, that he had the problem of Langmar not appearing until he went there without Livia, but again, no use.
Neither one of the two related wiki pages nor the flow chart mention any additional requirement, so i wonder what it is? 79.217.217.74 15:35, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- It sounds like you've done all the requirements. Do any of the Ebon Falcons ever spawn for you outside of town? If so, then you've already seen the dialogue and you just didn't notice. The only other thing I can think of is that maybe taking the quests from Salma deactivates the dialogue? --Musha 18:53, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- No, none of them ever joined so far. Also i finished the Scavenger Hunt, watched the dialogues and went to the Keep right after another, so i could not possible have watched it some time else. I also went to the Shining Blade camp once, but nobody was there as they evacuated it for the coming battle, so no dialogue either. I thought of the quests causing troubles, too, but then it must have to do with either "Mustering a response" or "The Battle for Lion's Arch", as nobody had trouble before. "Battle for Lion's Arch" does alter spawns in the keep, but even without accepting it (well, after dropping it) Langmar did not appear. If it's the quests, that would be a problem. Doing the battle removes the Shining Blade camp, which would prevent me from watching the other dialogues. Anybody out here who recently met Langmar? Aurion 13:02, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue 7[edit]
Apart from having to trigger Dialogue 6, it seems that you have to complete A Little Help From Above before you can watch this. It would not appear while I had it unfinished in my Quest Log, but it did after I completed it and was taken back into Talmark Wilderness. Updating the article for accuracy. -- Elv 12:24, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: It seems to skip straight from 6 to 9, instead of 7... so perhaps 7 and 8 can only be viewed if you do the scavenger hunt and subsequent dialogues before ever even getting to A Little Help From Above? -- Elv 12:27, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, dialogues 7-11 are all random. They are not listed in order on the page since there is no order, they are simply listed as 7-11 to keep consistency on the page. If you'd like to see all of those dialogues just rezone back into Talmark Wilderness several times until you get them all. --Musha 09:17, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- I tried this on a different character to see if it would work. Got dialogue 7 on the first try, rezoned... and got dialogue 7 again. It had finished before I rezoned, so it was a little odd at best. I rezoned again but after that none of the other dialogues would trigger. Either there are requirements that haven't been listed, or the dialogue sequence is bugged. I'm thinking it's the latter. :/ -- Elv 10:24, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- There is no order for dialogues 7-11, and like with the Greves encounter, they can appear multiple times. In fact, they should be moved to a different article akin to the Peacekeeper Encounters, since while they don't deal with peacekeepers or White Mantle, they act exactly the same (random repeatable dialogue scripts). -- Konig/talk 10:33, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

New Dialogue[edit]
I'm currently at Dialogue 4 as listed, and they seemed to have added alot more to the dialogue. Elongating sentences etc. Anyone interested in updating?

Problem with Dialogue 5, 6, and Scavenger Hunt[edit]
I’ve done dialogue 4 and onto - Dialogue 5 which says that one of the requirements is, “Must have finished Lieutenant Thackeray's scavenger hunt and witnessed his subsequent dialogue with Gwen, in addition to Dialogue 2, in order to see this dialogue.”
On the Thackery’s Scavenger Hunt page it says, “In order to participate in this scavenger hunt, you must have watched Dialogue 6 in the Gwen and Thackeray dialogues.”
Hmmmmm…
Dialogue 6 says, “Must have witnessed Dialogue 5 in order to see this dialogue.”
This is what is known as a circular reference. Something must not be correct on the page otherwise no one would be able to advance farther than dialogue 5. This needs updated, please.
I think it’s great AreaNet is doing a new storyline but they really should make it easier to follow and a little more coherent. IK 174.109.181.55 18:24, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- There's nothing wrong with the requirements. You're just looking at the wrong page for dialogue 6. In order to get Evennia recruiting the Ebon Vanguards, you must do a part of Hearts of the North, the part which came with the War in Kryta content. -- Konig/talk 22:05, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, what I found was that after dialogue 4 I had to go to the EON – Hall of Monuments and hear the dialogue b/w Gwen and Thackery. Rezoning multiple times to hear all of it and then after about the 5th one I was able to go outside of EON where Thackery was standing. (I didn't realize there were so many dialogues b/w Gwen and Thackery.) That’s when he asked for help w/the picnic for Gwen, i.e the scavenger hunt. It seems that the page for the scavenger hunt is wrong b/c I didn’t do “A Good Deed” as it specifies even though I was able to complete the scavenger hunt. It's all good. IK 174.109.181.55 17:08, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- Well, in order to get to dialogue six in the HotN dialogue (which starts in the HoM), you'd have to do the first five. Unless, of course, you do Ebon Vanguard Allies, which cuts it down to just needing 2 or 3 dialogues in the Hall of Monuments. -- Konig/talk 22:40, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

About dialogues 7 and on[edit]
Dialogues 7-11, as noted above are more akin to encounters. Dialogue 20 is as well. Dialogue 12-17 are all part of quests, and dialogues 18 and 19 are part of a specific unique area akin to the end-game areas. I think that these dialogues should be removed. Quest dialogues do not need to be put here, and dialogue for Lion's Arch (War in Kryta) (18 and 19) belong there. Encounter dialogues are not fully documented here and to do such would greatly increase this page, so I would suggest documenting them at the current encounter page (Peacekeeper Encounter - which needs reworking) due to, as has been noted above, confusion in documenting one-time dialogues with the repeating dialogues on the same page. Are there any disagreements? -- Konig/talk 10:45, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- Makes sense, since it's very confusing to see it documented this way. However, I think that some of those dialogues only have a chance of happening between certain points in the quest chain and can potentially be missed forever. The current page doesn't make that clear at all, while it should definitely be noted. -- Elv 10:54, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- It would appear to me that all encounters have a "limited time" for appearance. The rest are set in stone for the storyline - unless you take The War in Kryta quest, which reduces them. Though, supposedly, they can be returned to in order to see (I know this is the case for the HoM dialogues noted over on the Hearts of the North dialogues page, but I am unsure about the camp ones). -- Konig/talk 23:19, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
