Storage update concept fundamentally flawed?

moved from User talk:Linsey Murdock

Unless I'm missing something, there is very little incentive to purchasing storage tabs. Compare Purchasing Factions from Amazon.com (~$15, cheaper at other places)

  • 2 tabs, 1 normal tab + 1 free 4th anniversary tab (40 slots)
  • 4 characters, each have 50 inventory slots (200 slots)
  • 5 Gift of the Traveler per week
  • More Zaishen Keys from predicting MAT outcome

Purchasing Extra storage tab from online store ($10)

  • 1 extra tab (20 slots)

It's pretty clear that purchasing mule account(240 slots + extra benefits) would be more beneficial. I know the live team put a lot effort into the update, but unfortunately, it could have used a bit more planning.

Yup, you've indeed missed the countless threads about this very subject on this Wiki, the other Wiki and Guru. The official explanation is you are paying for the convenience of having an easy to reach storage. --Arduinna talk 18:21, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Linsey != marketing. Please move along to another Talk page. --Ravious 19:16, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
If players decide that they get more value from having extra characters, then more power to 'em. If players decide to place more importance on convenience, and purchase extra storage, then that is great. We're just giving another option. We understand that not everyone will choose to purchase a storage add-on. :-) --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 22:31, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
You know, I finally realized why I like the storage panes more. It's not JUST convenience. It's remembering what the heck I have. When I mule things on an inactive character, I tend to forget I have them. Especially as a on-and-off player.
Now if only I could access the bags and equipment and heroes of all my characters from any of them . . . I can't even remember which heroes each of my characters uses, let alone wether they need more runes of cowbell or could even use a strategic shield of destabbination. ^_^ --Star Weaver 22:54, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Aw, I'll sure pay 40€ to gain access to the bags of a character while logged in as another. And also get 10 characters to work as mules, XD. But it would be even lovelier to be able to create 'Xunlai Warehouse Workers'. Imagine it. A character that can only appear an move inside the the Xunlai Headquarters (you know, the warehouse seen in Kaineng) a new outpost accesible from Kaineng and the Battle Isles. Always has the same clothing (Xunlai Jumpsuit, XD), so we can only choose the face, hair, height and skin tone, or not even that, XD. A level 20 character that never fight, but only stores. Using all slots a normal character has only to store. 45 slots for misc items. 27 weapon slots (the ones for the character and all 27 heroes), 27 offhand item slots. 27 slots for each one of the 5 armor slots, plus 20 equipment slots. All only for storage, XD. All they would be able to do is open the Xunlai chest, put and take items, and trade. But won't be able to leave the outpost like PvP characters can't leave PvP areas. Other character would be ale to enter the outpost to trade, though. That would be quite funny, XD MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 04:44, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
@Star Weaver - that's precisely why I maintain a spreadsheet keeping track of what's on my heroes and what I have. The downside is I have to remember to keep it updated. However with it, I can tell you what weapon Zenmai on my necromancer have or what rune set up Koss on my ritualist have. – User Barinthus Magical Compass.png Barinthus 06:16, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I screenshot my mules and write notes of important items, otherwise it's 'offhand inscriptions mule' or 'tomes/dyes mule'. Takes a bit of management. 000.00.00.00 08:44, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Hehe, if the Xunlai Agent PCs were locked in the Master Warehouse of Awesome, they should be able to open all your other character's chests and move stuff around. Agh, I think I just had a flashback to WoW banks. Anyway, it would be awesome if there were a bunch of chests that allowed you into everyone's bags and stuff in there. They could make you play sudoku to get to the boxes! Wait, no.
Also, I found out that if you alt-enter windowificate the game and make it take up most of the screen, you can plant a text editor on top of it but the game will still recieve mouse hover events and display tooltips for stuff while behind the editor window. Great for writing down your stores/runes/w/e. Also, the "Silence Audio When Game Is In Background" option actually works in this case. --Star Weaver 18:16, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Over-done it with the tonics, maybe?

Big talk page so I'll keep this brief. I'd just like to say that I think the tonics are just over the top now. I map into outpost after outpost, especially the mains and are bombarded with massive tonic forms of all varieties. It was fun at first but now it just seems to be getting out of hand. Well, my view at least. Are their any plans of adding more, cos there's plenty there already? 000.00.00.00 08:42, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

It's only been just over a week; many folks are still only discovering the new tonics. Things will cool down soon enough. --Mme. Donelle 09:30, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
And why is it over the top if it doesn't affect you in any way?Pika Fan 13:57, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
In fairness, the sound effects can get tedious. I had to change districts in LA the other day because of a group of yeti spamming the /sit emote. --Mme. Donelle 14:01, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
There could be a limitation of number of people under a tonic like with miniatures, though... MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:36, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
when something becomes common it loses its value... the novelty is wearing off as every body you talk to is in a form MrPaladin 14:38, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Value? It's something that drops randomly from a chest, which is easy to get to and get keys for (expensive, but easy)! I personally think it's pretty cool. A limit like minis would be ok, but I'd rather that anyone can use the potions if they want (and if they have them), i.e. keep things as is. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 14:51, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
This is a stupid issue for people. Turn off your sound if you are going to sit in a major outpost and are annoyed. Tonics don't effect you in any other way beyond the look and sounds that come through your speakers.~>Sins WDBUser The Sins We Die By Sig.png 15:24, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm not complaining, it's helping me to make a faster progress on my party animal title. – User Barinthus Magical Compass.png Barinthus 16:16, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to agree with the OP. Kamadan AD1 looks like a petting zoo, and that's pretty stupid. It's not a matter of it creating functional difficulties, it's just retarded. The perma-fireworks in every major outpost are in the same boat, tbh. There are way more than "enough" random animals parading about; it's pretty ridiculous, a joke at this point. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 17:07, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm indifferent, it'll probably cool down soon and if people would rather look like a monster instead of their own character then so be it. DarkNecrid 17:19, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
no. this will keep every outpost under constant fireworks and 90% ppl under tonics, gfg anet, titles are fucking srs bzns. --Cursed Angel Q.Q 17:27, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
You can only get those weekly and most people will blow their stuff on the first 2 days tho. It'll be a bit worse than before but then again I don't care if I see monsters everywhere if I'm in PvE, it's to be expected. And I don't really care to look at people's armor or whatever either. It's just kind of a big whatever for me, I don't see the big deal. (except for the sound spamming, I can understand that) DarkNecrid 17:32, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
tbh I doubt it's endurable after a few months, or is it still awesome to see fireworks being spammed in every oupost? ppl get everlasting tonics, soon everone will have one, it won't get better, it will only get worse and even more annnoying. titles fucking rewards it so I doubt ppl will get "tired" of it. --Cursed Angel Q.Q 17:53, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
It's also something of an immersion killer, especially for newer players. Inb4 Deadgameisdead.--118.90.18.96 19:33, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree most with that last comment. It's hard to "feel" like you're in Kryta when LA is full of Yetis and Golems. I like PvE for its roleplaying aspect, amongst other things, and this kind of "kills the mood." When tonics first came about, they were rare and something to be "savored." Now they're spammable. And I like to have my effect sounds on for skills and other sound effects, having to turn it off in towns because of people easily amused by their yeti or abyssal is a bit annoying. A separate Tonic/Mini sounds option would be welcome for this. Another problem is all the oversized tonics, making you feel "blind" and navigating only by the Alt key. Downsizing them a little closer to human proportions (or even Norn size) would be much appreciated, since it's too late to ask for them to be removed completely. A "baby" yeti would actually be cuter than the giant, and much less annoying. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 20:10, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
The reason Festival Hats were never given armour is because they break immersion from the game. That seems like a pretty big double standard when you see bees, rainbow phoenixes, yetis (annoyingly loud) and several other ludicrous forms running around town (I recognise this is town and not in battle, but immersion is still there and often more important due to not having to focus on bars and being able to take in what's around you). Agree with OP, tonics are becoming unbearable. Allow an option for people to not see tonics please. 58.110.136.155 10:29, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Is there plans to even look at the tonic issue? I'm in Kamadan at the moment and there's like 20-30 golems and a dozen or so other 'roaring' tonics and it's just ridicilous. I've literally had to leave the district, mute all sounds or just stay away from main centers lately because it's getting that annoying.

Did no one in development see this kind of thing coming? I mean, come on. 000.00.00.00 23:12, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Because it's Arenanet, the answer is: No they didn't see this coming OR they did, and they intentionally wanted to annoy us. Boro 10px‎ 05:25, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
That wasn't helpful, nor witty, Boro, you must've missed Guidelines: #1. But again, to Anet, please look at these and see if you can do something about it, it is quite annoying, and as a player I currently can't do anything about it, other than leave the town. "And tell me any three-skill combination where you can maintain both attack-immunity and spell immunity". Glyph of Swiftness + Stoneflesh Aura + Obsidian Flesh, Arcane Echo + Spell Breaker + Spirit Bond + Protective Spirit, Vow of Silence + Pious Haste + "I Am Unstoppable!". They are farming strategies. Farming is not bad, but when the reward system sucks farming happens. Because ANet won't make grind go away for rewards this is the best people can do. Games that reward time played more than skill have flawed designs.~>Sins WDBUser The Sins We Die By Sig.png 17:41, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
@Boro, yes it applies to skill feedback, suggestions, everything. All the old suggestions/feedback will be archived and marked, and only the stuff that is posted in the new namespace will be usable by ArenaNet staff. There are pages and pages of dialogue on this issue, so I'm not going to even try to recap it. The very basic explanation is, that due to the GFDL licensing, no derivative works of ideas posted here can be used for commercial purposes without attribution. The new namespace will be licensed with different submission rules, which will hand over all copyright of material in that namespace to ArenaNet to use as they see fit. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 17:48, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Shadow Form Sub Discussion

@Sins: Against all of those: interrupts? and life stealing? Against SFA: SFA cannot reduce all damage to zero. Against VoS: physical attacks? You cannot say you can farm with that...
Shadow Form is broken on many levels. It allows mindless farming of the easiest areas, and everywhere else, its useless. Its entire mechanic needs to be changed. 67.237.225.252 04:19, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
You can barrel farm with a VoS derv, but more importantly its easy for running. Until they make PvE not about grind there is no reason to change farm builds. Thank all the farmers in GW for making the stuff you desire available and affordable.~>Sins WDBUser The Sins We Die By Sig.png 04:28, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
The problem is: GW is a cooperative game. IT was about team play. What is team play in soloing pools for example? or in 600smite? And for the one stupid act justifies another statements: it isn't true. But, Drunkard still needs a redesign. Boro 10px‎ This user's suggestions on the game can be freely used by ArenaNet. 07:35, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
What is team play in soloing pools for example? Depends how you define team play. If team play = everybody being in the same place, then you are right. If team play = everybody doing his/her assigned job, then here soloing is team play because your team depends on everybody doing his/her job because else the team might fail. Saving the z-key economy

as we all know z-keys and ectos are now a second currency for the game. Z-keys have rapidly dropped their price because of the xunlai tournament house each month giving lots away. With the new z-coins, if we made them tradable im shure they would become like a third currency of gw meaning less pressure on the z-keys.--144.132.145.245 07:43, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Call your local uni and enroll in ECON101 or equivalent. Less demand for zkeys will not save them from price drops. -Auron 07:45, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

So the game is giving away 0-50 Zkeys to everyone per MONTH just by making predictions. The game also gives anyone who bot-leechs Fort Aspenwood/Jade Quarry 20 Zkeys per DAY just for leaving their computer and 3rd party program on, and that's 600 Zkeys per MONTH for botters(a.k.a Guild Wars Infinite Money Hack). Considering that almost every match has a bot-leecher, now im really wondering what is ruining the Zkey economy...

I myself would prefer that the Z-key price drops, it'll make the max Title a lot easier to get.(marsc 19:19, 5 May 2009 (UTC))
the title was the only thing makeing zkeys worth anything then it started to drop a littled and they added tonics to the zchest each month. i think some ways they could make the zkey prices go up is buy haveing the larger Equipment Packs as drops. and add a chance of getting the ever lasting crate of fireworks, and even more epic a super rare everlasting Mysterious Tonic, other then that they need to change reward points to eather not letting them be turned into zkeys and keeping the curent system for rare skins. or change it so when you get a new skin it unlocks it for the entire pvp side of the account. and then lower the reward points you get from xth and automated tournamentsTalk Page‎ Zesbeer 23:36, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Anyway they still won't fix botting which IS the problem in Fort Aspenwood and Jade quarry. (thanks to current licensing terms :p ) Boro 10px‎ 15:33, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
We understand the concerns about supply/demand of Zaishen Keys and falling prices. This is something that the design team is aware of and monitors. Any plans to introduce new skills/armor?

Answered Answered. This section has been answered and should be archived by Monday, 15 Jun 2009 to Game Releated

Given there are no plans for new expansion/campaign releases would the introduction of a couple new skills and a new elite for each class be too big of a project to take up? Or is the basic plan just to introduce 'new skills' by changing lackluster elites/non-elites? Armors skins play a big part in terms of game goals, is there any plan to introduce at least a single new armor for each class on a future content update? Maybe some of those armors that didn't make it into the game due to the 4th campaign cancellation? The April patch was a great step forward into bringing players back into the game, I just thought these two things would be worth mentioning. <3 Xitoahc 13:08, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

" Any plans to introduce new skills/armor?" -> "No." --User Karasu sig.png Karasu (talk) 13:23, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Indeed thats a no. Linsey has already said that new armour is in the realms of never never land and as for new skills, why would you want more of them? Their are already way to many skills in the game, most of them are not used at all. Instead of adding new skills, it would be nice to see the old skills get a major overhaul and all made useful in some way or another. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 13:28, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

It would be nice but like the above posters said. Linsey said it won't happen. Which kinda sucks since I swear the Dervish and Paragon get the shaft in the number of armor sets they have. I would personally like to see more quests and cotent aka the island above maguuma. All well here's to Guild Wars 2. Dero Ahmonati 15:36, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

When it comes to skills, I would only go for new skills for new professions in old campaigns so all of them get the same number of skills. That means only a few new skills and some changes in Prophecies for the 6 core professions, and then only new skills from the professions which have much less skills. Nightfall has assassin and ritualist skills, but Factions has no paragon or dervish skills. There are a lot of possible anthem combinations and uses that could be useful but don't exist, like a Ballad that increases energy when hit, or a Chorus that makes a shout last longer or a lyric that makes the next signet recharge faster or things like those. I like things equitable, so if a profession has 144 skills, all should have 144 skills. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 15:55, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Linsey mentions in her FAQ that it takes a senior artist about a year to develop a new series of armor, which sounds like a lot, but then again, I don't see why she'd lie about it. It likely takes more time to make final tweaks and debug it, than the initial design and construction. That's also probably why so many EOTN armors were tweaked from older models, with a few new things. I also agree with the above about skills: there are already waaay too many, which makes it hard to balance, no need to make it even worse. Heck, I wouldn't mind if some skills got deleted from the game entirely, with a 750g prize per deleted skill to those who already learned it. *keeps dreaming* User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 19:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Paragons always lacked several anti-cry and anti-song skills to counter other Paragons and Warriors (in PvE and PvP) something like "Do not listen to him!" or "Listen to my song!" (Macross 7 reference) that either interrupts/disrupts ennemy song/cry, prevent next ennemy song/cry or remove song/cry effect from ennemies. Unfortunatly it does not work well with the current definition of Leadership (would need to be reworked to get energy when it affects an ennemy as well). They are missing several closerange spear attack too (strangely, the only one that exists is in Leadership), so if they had time and resources, there is always plenty of room to improve, but I doubt we will ever see that (in GW1 that is). April Update Rocks!

Yeah, I could reply to the above thread. But I think people who love the update should be equally heard. They've added a lot of things that, to be frank, GW players have been begging for and demanding and saying they'd even pay for it. Well, lots of it is free, and what needs payment seems fair game. Good job ANet. I'm looking forward to trying all those new features! Menagerie is fairly high on my todo list now, and the HoM of course. Combining looks from the different campaigns is pretty exciting too. A few random replies (1) WoW did add a barber shop for free (hairdo), but any other customization you have to pay for. (2) One way or the other, someone has to pay for content. Given that we're not getting GW1 expansions, the only way to fund these is via the online store. And that means that people using those features have to pay for it. (3) Nothing is free. Get used to it. Free stuff is there to make an already-existing product more attractive, hence generating money through increased sales. (4) The game is still IMO far better than the last subscription-based game I played. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 15:54, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I already stated what I hate from the update, so let's go with the good points:
  • Moss Spider as an animal... at last! What took you so long? It has been for years! XD
  • Nicholas traveling around the world. Finally a collector like all collectors should have been, now in post-Searing too.
  • Collectors for PvP. Now PvP-only characters can get some stuff without having to spend a lot of time spamming for . All that's left is being able to unlock Guild NPCs with ZCoins, and they will no longer need cash from PvE players!
  • Zaishen quests. That should concentrate some people to make some quests, and may also encourage guilds to try things.
  • Mengaerie. Since I saved a different pet in each hero in my main character, I had ready half of the pets to unlock. I got the pet unlock pack anyways, to get the rest and reduce the grind. Just 5 pets to go! A big area and nice to see. I just wish you could bring friends in there to sightsee and roleplay, maybe locking their Charm Animal skills if they are not the Leader of the party.
  • HoM char based version... and sorting! Oh, yeah, I waited so long for the dialog-based sorting system! It's a shame not being able to sort that way miniatures too, but I think 20 slots are a bit too much to manage, XD. Now I can get different armos with different characters too, so I don't end up with a storage filled with armors for one character, but with various equipment packs filled with different armors.
  • More storage! I still think that armors should be unlocked instead stored and that we need weapon upgrade traders, but I do like being able to put quite some more junk in there. 20 slots seems not too much when you say it, but it's quite a lot when you don't have armors, weapons, or upgrades to store. I wonder how much will it take me to get it filled with dedicated miniatures again... XD.
  • And the most important update of all: Headgear collector in pre-Searing! I'm getting 6 of those as soon as I can!
The stylist was a great surprise... until I read how do you pay for its usage. A shame I will never use it that way, but a great feature anyways. If you ever consider a key 'pay once' for the feature, like the rest of the game keys, count me in, I'll get it no matter th price. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 16:18, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
This update has too much for me to comprehend! O.o-- Shew 21:50, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Wether you have to pay for those features or not anet added them to the game wich clearly shows they are making a (last) effort.I like the zquests but would have liked to have both tomes and elite tomes easier (making it alot easier for people to get their pve char pvp rdy). I mean we can whine all we want that balance is ****** ** but that doesnt take away that this is a good update :) GJ imo Lilondra User Lilondra Sig.png*panda* 04:44, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
This is probably one of the best updates GW has seen in a long time. The content we have to pay for doesn't give players any advantages in the game, so I don't have a problem at all with Anet asking money for it. In fact I think it's encouraging to see Anet handle micro-transactions like this since this will no doubt be something we'll see more of in GW 2. --Draikin 16:06, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
What headgear collector? where? who?Boro 10px‎ 17:25, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Yakkington has the 7/12/23AR Headgear for pre-Searing characters. All you need is 100 Iris Flowers to get both the Small Equipment pack and the headgear. 50 flowers each. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 17:30, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Live Team's Next Update

Hi Regina! The April update proved, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that the Live Team has a golden touch. Opinions on paying for some of the features aside (I personally don't mind paying), the quality of the updates that they have accomplished have been out of this world, with each update out-pacing the previous ones by leaps and bounds. I'm still discovering some of the things they've added, such as the arrange option in the HoM (discovered that last night). Has the Live Team hinted at what they're going to approach next and, if so, what month could we expect an announcement or maybe some hints or teasers? Thanks! Pkohler01 23:35, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

While I do not share the 'golden touch' comment of the above user, I have more of a next comment than anything else (since 90% of the recent update wasn't for me). But, are we going to get a new Coming Attractions?. I did post that on Linsey's page and was about to put it here, probably a better place but someone started it for me. 000.00.00.00 23:38, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
They have a golden touch?
When was the last skill update again? 67.237.225.252 02:13, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I'm less concerned about skill updates and more concerned about new content. In my opinion everything they have produced has done a lot to maintain my interest in the game and satisfy my list of things that I'd like to see included in the game. And while I certainly respect our difference of opinion with the utmost empathy, I would also like to point out that our differences in priorities over the type of updates we look for (skill update vs. content) and how well such updates do or don't satisfy our personal interests as proof of the diversity of player needs and desires. Surely it would be wonderful to see more resources dedicated to GW1 so that a larger margin of player needs would be satisfied with each update but, all evidence indicates that repurposing existing resources onto GW1 is not an option. Given this, it's perhaps best for all of us to roll with the punches by accepting what we can get and being grateful that they're doing something to maintain the product that we all obviously enjoy so much. Pkohler01 02:38, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
I asked Linsey in game the other day what the next update might be, she said that this week (well, "next week" which would be this week) is the "planning week" - i.e., they are discussing what to do next as we ponder... Personally, I hope for a redo of NPC bars, both allied and hostile (allies die WAY to quickly, give them real skill bars so that they don't makes our characters (and enemies) seem like gods...) and/or 3 new heroes and/or the cinematics being re-watchable after seeing them (cough FA and JQ that got removed, one time watch quest cinematics, mid-mission and post-mission cinematics cough all can be added as functions to existing NPCs cough) -- Azazel The Assassin\talk 03:12, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

funny armor invetory sign+pet steps

hehe, ever noticed that if you place any armor from a female character into the xunlai chest then go on a male char and there will be male icons and vice versa, :P. Also pets (i tried on melandrus stalker) leaves human footprints, :P. --144.132.145.245 07:13, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

You can even "try" the armor of a toon of the opposite gender but of the same 1st profession with the dye preview window btw :) Davor Belegnaur 07:26, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
It has been like that since forever, icons of armors change depending on gender of character that is currently logged on, possibly to reduce amounts of data they need to store for each single peace of armor. Biz 08:55, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Yet they save the entire name of the character that customizes an item instead some kind of ID, since they keep the name after changing it. That doesn't sound much like saving space. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 01:18, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Not quite. I've had a character before, female elementalist. Got her armor from Ascalon, deleted because I didn't like the hair, made another one with the exact same name, female elementalist, and could not wear the old armor. So there is more to it than just the name, looks like it's a character ID, and that ID has a name attached to it somewhere in the database, so that name appears on the customized items, instead of some number. Basically, an ID number gets stored on the item, but when you look at it, it shows you the name associated with that ID. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 04:54, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, no, they don't show the name associated with that ID. I don't mean they use the name to tell who is the owner of the item, but that they save the name itself instead using the ID we know that is saved in the item so other characters can't use them. When you change the name of a character using the Name change feature, the items keep working on the character, but the name stays. That means that they can detect they are their items without using the name, and that the name doesn't change in items when the character change names, so the name must be saved in the item, instead checking the ID and getting the name that way. Names stay forever in items after deleting the original character. They either waste storage saving a register of every single character ever created, their IDs and their names, so a customized item can get a name for its ID years after it's owner was deleted, or waste it by storing the name itself in the item. Regardless of the method, it's wasted space. Of course, the best option to save space and make customization better would just be account customization. You only save the ID of the account, any character of the account seeing the item will see their name, it would be friendlier with accounts with multiple playing characters, and the only extra thing needed would be a way to prevent PvE characters from using items created with the PvP item creation panel. It's like packing things in a suitcase, there is always a way to fit more in. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:07, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Hall of heros, repeat accomplishments.

moved from User talk:Linsey Murdock

OK I really like the recent update and think it is awesome to be able to view all of my accomplishments in one hall. however, Is the team thinking of any rewards for repeat accomplishments? I was just wondering because I really like the Norn and Ancient armors for several professions but I would like to know if I have ancient armor on bot my assassin and my ranger will there be rewards for both in GW2? or will I only be rewarded for having ancient armor in my hall of monuments? Thanks, just a quick question I had. Kraken 22:04, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

That's a GW2 question that no one at ArenaNet will be able to answer due to their NDA regarding GW2. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 22:14, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Alright I was just wondering if they had plans for displaying repeat accomplishments or not. Not really "what will they be worth in GW2" but more "Will they ever be worth anything?" Thanks though, I'll ask Regina and see if I can get an answer. Kraken 01:22, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
This sounds kind of like a GW2 question, but partly a GW1 question. :-\ At the moment there are no plans to add more titles to the game to acknowledge multiple accomplishments on the same account (e.g. multiple Norn armors) in GW1. (The way I understood the questions was in terms of an account-wide title? I am not really clear on this.) As for GW2, I can't comment one way or the other. Sorry. :-( --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png

Error in this week-end's event annoucement ingame

The ingame notice, both in English and French, states that "[...] you will receive double points for exchanging 1,000 faction for Jadeite or Amber, [...]" "[...] vous recevrez le double de points lorsque vous échangez 1000 points de faction contre de la Jadéite ou de l'Ambre, [...]". But it's been a while now that price for Jadeite of Amber was increased from 1,000 to 5,000 faction points. Jaxom 07:23, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Same for the German announcement. I already posted it on John's wiki page (as he is responsible for the WE events), not sure he read it yet. User Xelonir sig.pngXelonir 08:24, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
