Summoning stones are a certain type of consumables to summon allies. The created ally will be at the same level of the player and it lasts for a certain time - in general 30 minutes - or until slain in combat. Upon activation of a summoning stone, the player will suffer from Summoning Sickness preventing from reusing a summoning stone again within the next 60 minutes. Summoning stones can only be used in explorable areas and there can only be one summoned ally in an instance at once. Generally, summoned creatures will follow the summoner similarly to Minions or other combat NPCs, but will not usually break off combat to pursue their master, often leading to their demise in the event of a retreat. The exception to this is the Merchant summoned by the Mercantile summoning stone, who is somewhat more docile and wanders in the general vicinity of the player who summoned him/her.

• If the summoner is buffed by Journey to the North, the ally will be summoned at the character's actual level, not the buffed level of 20.
• The summoner can see the number of damage the summoned creature is dealing to foes.
• This item is not usable in solo missions.
• Summons are immune to the Sulphurous Haze enviromental effect.

In the Crystal Desert, if you pass through a teleporter your summoned creature will remain stuck on the other side.

Non-craftable summoning stones don't emit the typical sparkle effect when lying on the ground.
