Unable to use certain unlocked skills at Codex Arena
As of today Oct.22, i am unable to use skills from the Swordsmanship, Hammer Mastery and Axe Mastery lines that i have no access to (unlocked - don't have the expansions). I have no problem using skills from other trees or classes, regardless of what expansion they belong to, though. This includes skills from the Strength and Tactics lines.
I can put the skills without problems on the skill bar, but at the time of trying them on the arena, clicking on them (or pressing the hotkey) does nothing. No error message is displayed, nor they appear as "locked" on the bar.
Specifically, the skills i loaded up but weren't useable were: Magehunter's Smash, Overbearing Smash, Yeti Smash, Standing Slash, Sun and Moon Slash and Decapitate.--Fighterdoken 02:34, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Droknar's Forge - Map Travel after arriving there during Halloween
One of my characters travelled to Droknar's Forge and then mapped away after the Outpost had been decked out for Halloween. Trying to return to Droknar's Forge by way of Map Travel is impossible because the Outpost Badge is missing from the Overview Map for Map Travel. The character can travel overland from Fort Ranknor, from The Ice Caves (Outpost) (where the Character is about to commence the Ice Cave (Mission)) or from Port Sledge .... Map Travel is available to those locations from Droknar's Forge once the character has fought her way back there.
Other character on the account that already had been to Droknar's Forge before Halloween festivities commenced have retained Map Travel functionality. -- Bearz 15:56, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Same problem with entering Droknar's Forge via Dragon's Lair mission. Walked out, walked back in to Droknar's Forge, mapped in Ice Caves of Sorrow and then again tried to map in Drok's -- nothing shows up on map and cannot map travel back there after leaving. Same problem with Tomb of Primeval Kings, which also entered after Halloween festivities had begun -- doesn't appear on map. Camp Ranknor and other cities map in, but not Drok's. Sjhshh 00:17, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- I've talked with quite a few of the Drok's runners at Beacon's. Apparently anyone who enters Droknar's Forge for the first time after the Halloween update cannot access Drok's via map travel. It does not matter whether you first enter Drok's via land or via Dragon's Lair. Also, the statement above implies the bug may also apply to any characters that were in Droknar's Forge when the decorations took affect. Hopefully, this will be resolved quickly as the Halloween festival will draw even more characters to Drok's than usual. 67.43.242.54 13:33, 25 October 2009 (UTC0
This problem now seems to be fixed. I travelled to Droknar's Forge the hard way and, after entering the Town, the Map Travel badge has now appeared. Thank you to whoever fixed this! -- Bearz 18:28, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Agree, seemed it also had effect on the other Festival towns as well and was correctedin a mini update MystiLefemEle 06:42, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Only showing 1 district when changing continents
Currently, when I use the "ship" to change continents, the drop-down list is only showing 1 district even if there are MANY. Just thought I'd give you guys the heads up. Karate Jesus 22:37, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Cape Editing slighly broken by the costumes
I went to change my cape soon after the December 17 update and I could not see my cape in the preview window, after confirming the issure with a friend who also argeed he could not see his cape I tried setting the costume slot to "Hide always" and the cape showed up again in both the inventory window and the Cape editing window, you may need to change the costume setting default or force the cape to be shown always in the Guild emblemer window. Randon 75.40.245.91 06:58, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
- It would clip with the costumes, so you wouldn't see it properly anyway until you disable the costumes. That's why if you have both costume and cape set to "show" the cape sill not appear until you hide the costume. Rose Of Kali 14:54, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
I forgot to mention it was happening even when there was no costume equipped, but nvm It's been fixed anyway. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.40.245.91 (talk).

CHAT MALFUNCTION
Approximately, every five minutes, chat "loses" multiple players... this has been seen since the new build. Player is summarily dropped and logged out of chat for NO explicable reason as stated approximately every five minutes. this appears to be widespread. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 96.41.73.254 (talk).
- It's only happening to some people in my guild (perhaps 10%). Sometimes, one can reconnect, but usually not. Sometimes you get an error message in attempting to reconnect (#58: no servers appear to be available; this is probably a router problem). In addition, several people are reporting multiple disconnects (entering a town, crossing a portal, map travel). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:34, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- This appears to have been resolved. Thank you for the quick turn-around on the fix. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 11:36, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Skills Locked in Shing Jea Arena
I suspect this has something to do with the Codex Arena but I was in Shing Jea Arena today and I noticed that most of my skills were locked except for a small few. They appeared to be different from the ones I had access to in the Codex arena though. Different skills were locked on both a level 20 elementalist and a level 2 assassin. Torma 18:27, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- I thought low level arenas had a limited skill selection anyway, like no elites or some of the skills you get later in the game. But I'm not 100% sure, haven't played those things since like Factions came out. <_< Rose Of Kali 14:23, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Elemental Dust from Random Junk
There are at least two types of Pile of Elemental Dust that you can receive from a Sack of Random Junk, neither of which will stack with ones dropped by mobs. They also aren't accepted by collectors. 24.197.253.243 19:41, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- I actually ended up with 3 different stacks of piles of elemental dust, none of which would stack. These 3 stacks contained 5, 10, and 12 piles of elemental dust respectively. --Musha 04:49, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

When attempting to give Lt. Lesser Flame Sentinels die before the match starts
On the Burning Isle guild hall, the Lesser Flame Sentinels are dying from degen in about 45 seconds. This means they die 15 seconds before the gates even open. You can see it on observer mode in any match on Burning Isle.
Some of the people I've talked to think this is an intentional nerf of Burning Isle. However, I think it's a bug, because the latest update introduced a bug that reduced the Guild Lord's health to 500, which already got fixed, and the update on April 29th supposedly fixed a bug similar to this one. And really, if you wanted to nerf the Lesser Flame Sentinels, you would just remove them altogether. --Macros 16:37, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Res Shrine in Scoundrel's Rise
Near the portal to Gates of Kryta appears to have dissappeared. Have zoned out multiple times in NM and HM and it's not there. Shows it on u-map though. Em Jae 04:07, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- Or there never was one... Wiki page says that they are at the entrances of the two neighbouring explorables but doesn't mention one at outpost exit. Perhaps the one shown on the mission map is inside the outpost? I am confused. Well if it is a bug, there is the report. If not, oops :-P Em Jae 17:55, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- If you enter the zone from Gates of Kryta and don't activate the "real" res shrines by one of the other two portals, then after a party wipe you will res just next to the portal back to Gates of Kryta. Well, this bit actually IS bugged, and it annoyed me to no end yesterday: it seems that the spawn point is so close to the portal, that about 1 time in 3 it would actually zone you into town as soon as your party resses here. I was trying to do the SB bounty for that one boss in here, and kept getting thrown back to town -- as soon as the 10-second resurrection counter finishes and my party teleported next to the portal, it acted as if I walked into town and I'd get the loading screen right away and just end up back in Gates of Kryta. Very annoying... :( Rose Of Kali 17:38, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Sound Bug
I recently started playing guild wars again after about 6 months of no internet, the game loaded updates for near 1/2 an hour when i got to the loading screen there was no music and when i started the game there is no sound in game. I've tried loading the game again, restarting my computer and checking my drivers, sound works perfectly fine for everything else on my comp but there continues to be no sound for GW, Thanks -DeeAbel 07:28, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Could be a registry artifact from an earlier installation, or, since you mention 6 months of no playing, one or more Windows updates that happened in the meantime. This would be a reg key with muted / 0 volume values that the game is really referencing, even though it's saving to another.- (Or thinks it's saving. Also try "run as administrator". Sometimes there's no error message even when a program finds it can't write to the reg due to permissions problems. Then again, if GW keeps the settings when you close and reopen, this probably isn't the issue.)
- It's just an idea. But I'm not sure how to identify, and thus delete, the reg key so the game can recreate it. Does GW save its settings in any kind of config (e.g. .ini) file? If so you could try deleting that and then opening the game and changing settings again.
However, since I'm not sure if you can do that, it's probably much more reliable just to uninstall and reinstall the game, which will of course clear the settings. I think if you copy or cut the GW.dat file out of the Program Files/Guild Wars folder onto your desktop, and then move it back in after installation, you won't have to re-download all the data and maps. | 72 | 14:58, 5 October 2010 (UTC)- I have completely uninstall'ed and re'installed the game but there is still no sound. - Found it thanks to the random page button! If you use a shortcut, go to properties and add -dsound at the end of the text and sound should function again. If this doesnt help, have guild wars Support help you out and ask them how to use -dsound in the shortcut correctly.

Heroes are sorted incorrectly in the UI
In the dropdown combo box for adding them to the party. They should be sorted by their profession code, instead of the order they were developed - all assassin's are at the top, all the warriors at the bottom, etc. Current implementation leaves this feeling like a Where's Waldo minigame. -- 18:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Since "Embark Beach Update" the Mission Map [U] is always resetting to default position and size when logging out or closing the client.

Mercenary secondary
I have already sent a ticket in but I'll describe the issue here. I made 3 mercenaries. None of them were ritualists and I decided to get a ritualist. At this time I had an A/Rit. I deleted the assassin to make a ritualist. When I did and went to a character that could use it, the ritualist became a Rit/Rit, which broke the system and crashed my client every time I tried to change the skills on that hero. I had to delete the ritualist, make it any other profession and change it's secondary from a ritualist to anything else to be able to fix it. I would assume this happens on all of the mercenaries the same way if the secondary matches the new primary of a mercenary. Devi Talk 18:21, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

7th Hero Skill Window

I'm not sure if this is important enough but, when ever I enter or leave an explorable area or outpost, the 7th hero in my party ends up having their mini HUD window, the window displaying health, energy and skills, open when it was previously closed, its nothing major but I find it rather annoying having to close it again and again, it also gets in the way. It only happens to the 7th hero as well, doesn't matter who it is. Don't know if I'm the only one this is happening to, so can someone please confirm this.
SmashingAeon 98.85.48.200 05:19, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- Similar problem. When I have all seven hero panels open, the last four close whenever I go into another area (entering an explorable area or entering an outpost). Sardaukar 19:05, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- I get the same issue as SmashingAeon, but not all outposts, and it varies between hero 4 or hero 6. It seems to happen often in Vabbian outposts, rarely in Kourna, and sometimes in Istan (although I'm usually mapping into Kamadan, so heroes 4 and 6 don't exist there). Passage Scroll descriptions not accurate.
Passage scrolls to The Deep and Urgoz Warren currently state they can move a party from HzH/Cavalon or Embark Beach. When we tried an Urgoz scroll from Embark Beach it did not work and the two individuals who had not been to Urgoz had to map to HzH and use the scrolls there.Robdalf 02:15, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- The description is missing that nuance: for a group to reach the outposts, every party member has to have reached it once on their own from the respective capital cities. After that, you can also use the exit guild hall trick (whereby the leader heads to the outpost using one scroll, then ferries 7 more to the outpost). Rather than fixing the bug, I would hope they just bypass the need to use a passage scroll by providing an NPC that will take the whole group from any guild hall or from the obvious outposts (EB, GToB, HzH, and Cavalon). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:26, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, that clarifies the process. If they don't make the sensible change you suggested perhaps they should change the description to read "qualified parties" or some such. Robdalf 04:19, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
