where can i find the access key to my game? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.20.166.75 (talk).
- In all the versions I've gotten, it was either inside some form of perforated envelope or on a card under a clear plastic strip with a gray scratch-off coating. -- Gordon Ecker 07:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- One may want to note that, if you downloaded GuildWars from the site, thinking that "free to download" means "free to play," you will need to actually buy an account. Also, some versions of the game (i.e., if you physically bought it) have the gray scratch-off part on the inside of the CD case the game discs come in. --Dragon nataku 23:28, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- The ones I got physically (Proph GOTY, Nightfall normal, EOTN) all had 3-inch square black cards with perforations around three or four sides, which is the envelope thing Gordon's talking about. Well, the EOTN one had a large ovalish more-cardboardy inner-perforated brownish thing with a shield on it, that's really hard to get open without ripping anything ^_^. --Star Weaver 18:11, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ugh, yeah, the GW:EN one really annoyed me, cause the cardboard thingy was cool-looking and I wanted to keep one intact, but the first one got ripped all to hell (I bought two copies cause I have multiple accounts), and I was too lazy to walk to the other end of the house to acquire scissors to cut the second one with (also, I thought if I was careful enough, I wouldn't need scissors). Of course, that one got destroyed as well. ^-__-^ --Dragon nataku 18:54, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

invalid cd key
i made a master account for my guild wars account long ago but never linked it, so i recently tried to add to it because the game accounts area on the site and it said i had none, so i tried adding my prophs cd key and it said invalid.. so does this mean i cannot link my guild wars account to my play nc master account anymore? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:122.109.161.134 (talk).
- Did you type the codes correctly? O and 0 can be confused for example. Dominator Matrix 07:41, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Also, 8 and B and 1 and I and stuff like that. I remember I kept having that sort of problem every time I had to add a CD key to one of my accounts. ^x__x^;; Also, perhaps you linked them to another PlayNC account? I know I did that with one of my three accounts because either I wasn't paying attention or I am stupid. ^-__-^;; --Dragon nataku 00:37, 16 July 2008 (UTC) 17:49, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
CD- key
I purchaced guild wars online and was given a cd key via email, i have not played guild wars for a while and wish to install it again on a new computer but the email account that was used to purchase GW and set up the account has expired and deleted the saved email of the cd key before i was able to save the information anywhere else... so my question is how if at all can i recieve a new or if possible my old cd key inorder to install GW on a new computer?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:209.102.157.40 (talk).
- If you already used the CD key on your account, then you don't need a new one. If you never used the CD key on your account, then you will need to buy a brand new one. Not having the email address anymore does not matter, you can still login to your Guild Wars account with it (your email address that you used to register the account is your login/account name). All of your information is saved on the Guild Wars servers, not your hard drive, so you have not lost anything like characters or accounts or the levels your characters obtained or money or items or anything. Just re-install or re-download the game from the Guild Wars website, login, wait for five hours while all of the files download ( ^x__x^ ), then start playing again. :o) Trust me, the fact that you no longer have that email address doesn't matter unless you want to reset/change your password and do not have a PlayNC account (I should know, my login email addresses no longer exist either, but I can still login and everything). --Dragon nataku 03:45, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Switching Emails
I was wondering, if you are going to delete an old Email adress, is it possible to transfer your account to the new email? If so, (i may have to contact support for this part...), is this also possible with other games? (i.e other NCsoft games, like Dungeon Runners)--Raph Talky 20:16, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- No, it isn't. I tried switching over emails and I asked support and they said they can't. It's safer to use an old email address though so that no one can guess your login email adress to hack you. — ク Eloc 貢 10:12, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- damn.....so let me get this straight, if i delete my old mail, will my account be deleted or not?--Raph Talky 15:37, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- Nope, see my answer in the previous topic (CD-Key). --Dragon nataku 16:44, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- Not sure, sorry. The only other online game I've ever played was GunBound, which I'm pretty sure doesn't really count. :op I just know it is true for GuildWars through personal experience. --Dragon nataku 01:18, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- Most games do not allow you to change the account name, mostly for security purposes. And those that do allow to change, usually require a real-life mechanism for confirmation. For example, quite a few of Asian free-to-play MMOs require your mobile phone number for confirmation purposes. As for deleting your email, as long as your PlayNC email address points to a valid email, it should be fine. Your game account is not physically linked to your email, it's just an ID. You could ask support to confirm whether or not it's safe (i.e. they can still communicate with or authenticate you) if your old email is no longer accessible. -- ab.er.rant 15:29, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- I asked the support about that some while ago as well, and I was not able to change my email address, but they said that, with the registration of a PlayNC Master account, the email-function of the login name is "removed" and it is just seen as a simple login name. poke | talk 17:14, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

- If it is a ban because of character naming, you will be given the chance to rename the character and will be allowed to continue playing it, so it shouldn't be a big problem. Also, just because you have not been reported for 3 years it doesn't mean you are safe; it's the risk you choose to live with when picking such name.--Fighterdoken 22:13, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

WIKI Account problems.
I am having trouble with my WIKI account (NOT my game account).
I created (or possibly mis-remember creating) an account. Specifically 'mtew' (or possibly 'MTEW') - that is I used my initials for the account name.
I added a comment to one of the articles in the WIKI and loged out.
It is now several days later, and I tried to log in. The return message says there is no account 'mtew'. (I also tried 'MTEW' in case I mis-remembered with the same result.)
I tried to create account 'mtew'. It reports conformation code invalid. (It also complains when I make a typo in the password fields, but that I understand and I am not complaining about that.)
Can someone with WIKI account authority please check what is going on, or give me a pointer to the appropriate person to ask.

- That tickled a good spot. I found the article I commented on before creating the
- account, but not the one after. Frankly, I don't remember what that second comment
- was about at the moment, and frankly it might have been on another site that uses
- the exact same format as this one does. (my memory gets somewhat flaky when I am

what is the game like?
1.so after you buy the game from the store its completly free after you start playing no monthly fees or anything?
2.from what ive seen this game looks realistic and not like World Of Warcraft which is cartoony. this game seems interesting to play but does it have patches that you have to download? not exspansions but like patches to fix bugs and anything like that because i have dial-up so WoW patches are brutal for my computer. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:172.131.33.148 (talk).
- 1. Yes, free. See also GWW:FAQ for more account-related questions.
- 2. Yes. If you buy online, the initial download will be close to 4 GB or so, if you choose to download all in one go; otherwise it'll be downloaded as needed (means quite-long loading screens for dial-up, but you only need to download once). Periodically, we get small updates from time to time that require downloads of several hundred KBs to a couple of MBs, depending on whether it's a balance update, bug fixes, or special events. Go search around youtube for in-game videos. -- ab.er.rant 15:32, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- ... *cough* From the top of this page: "Before asking your question, please make sure that it has not already been asked and answered." Somebody just asked the same "pay to play?" type of question in the topic right before yours. In other news, you can add the -image command line thingy in the properties of your GW.exe file and just leave it downloading overnight. This will download pretty much any files you'll ever need ingame (takes a very long time, hence why I said to leave it overnight), and it will close automatically after the download is done. Just remember to delete the -image thing afterwards, or else you won't be able to actually open the game. :op --Dragon nataku 00:54, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Download Prophecies
Hey, I got an account with Prophecies and Factions. Currently I only have factions downloaded to my computer. How would I go about getting a prophecy download, I thought about torrrenting one, but I'd rather do this legit. The account has prophecies loaded on it, but I cant find somewhere which would let it autodownload. Also, i forgot my nc info, all i have is the guild wars info. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.122.63.218 (talk).
- There is no separate download. Once you install the game client (available on any CD or from the website), it will automatically download whatever files you need. So if you bring your character to Prophecies (see FAQ), the Prophecies game data that's needed will be downloaded as needed. Or, go to Command line and search for "-image" on how to pre-download everything. -- ab.er.rant 08:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- It's sort of besides the point, but torrenting the game really wouldn't do much good. While you would be able to get the game client (you can get it for free on ANet's site), you still wouldn't have any of the campaign keys needed to log in and access parts of the game. Like Ab.er.rant said, all campaigns use the same game client, all you need to do is apply the access key to your account and follow the quests to get your character over to those parts of the game. -- TERO talk 10:20, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Problem playing some of my characters
I have been playing Guild Wars since beta. Just within the last week I have been having account issues. I can load some of my low level characters every time but I have some characters that I can't load I get a server error code=007. I have a pre-searing monk lvl 2 no problems loading I have a pre-searing lvl 17 elem I can't load at all anymore. I have the same problem with other characters too. It seemed to start when I got an update for a double point weekend. I have since wiped the game off the computer and performed a reinstall. After the reinstall all the characters worked fine. I got tired of waiting for maps to download so I did an image command download. After that I was back to having the problem again. Can any one help? Using GW on two computers.
Alright, I have more than one kid. They want to play Factions at the same time. They both have characters and have level 20 on 4 slots. We got a new computer. Two people told me there was a way to put the game on both computers for simultaneous play. I wouldn't know how to go about that. Do I load up the GW game on the second computer as well? Any advice would be greatly appreciated by 15 and 17 year boys.
208.120.32.207 03:03, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, the game needs to be installed on the second computer as well and both PC's need to be connected to the Internet. The real question is, are their characters on at least two or more Guild Wars accounts? What I mean is if you only own one copy of Factions you won't be able to run two games simultaneously. You'll need to have a Factions account running on each PC. -- WarBlade 03:58, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- it doesn't sound like they have two accounts. playing several characters of one account simultaneously is possible but itself illegal, and the steps you'd have to take for that would be illegal, too. the only solution is buying another account, on which you'll have to restart the characters since it's not possible to transfer characters between accounts (except passing items). - Y0_ich_halt 14:05, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

The other times this has happened to me was because I had multiple keyboard settings (Spanish, English, French, Norwegian, and Japanese, specifically) installed on my computer and I did not disable the "Switch between input languages Key Settings" option, so when Alt-Tab'ing between windows, it would randomly switch settings and the keys are in different places in some of those settings. - If I understand Correctly, you want to know why you can't trade, and you've played for eight hours? You can not trade for the first twenty-four hours after account creation. I do not know why, but that is how it works. Do not worry. Just wait until tomorrow. -- Trowis --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.121.228.216 (talk).
- *sigh* None of my Chinese-speaking friends are on right now... I will try to explain about the PvP part. When you create a PvE character, you have to access the PvP areas to be able to PvP. Depending on which Guild Wars you have (Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall), where to access these PvP areas is different. You can create a PvP character instead and immediately start doing PvP, but these characters will not be able to do PvE. I hope that helps? Maybe later I can explain in Chinese when my friend in Hong Kong wakes up... sorry! --Dragon nataku 19:03, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Ignore List glitch?
Lately, I have been receiving Whispers from someone I do not know, and despite what I have said and done, he continues. Nothing special, right? Well, he is on my ignore list. I attempted toggling his friend status to reassign him to my Ignore list, but he continued to find his way through the Ignore. I have attempted to add him as a friend, and subsequently to the ignore list, again, using the name he's using recently, but I was given an error message stating that his account was already there, as the name I'm ignoring. Thus, it is not from a second account. I am out of ideas. How does he do that? How can I stop him from doing that? Is this a bug? -- 192.168.0.11
- Hmm, other than suggesting the obvious of double-checking the spelling of the offending user's name (I'm sure you've already done that), it may be time to contact support. Temporarily, if that person is harassing you, you can set your status to "Do Not Disturb" so that PMs can't come through. That's probably not desireable long-term, since you won't be able to receive PMs from anyone, but it would solve the problem until support can look into the issue. I personally don't know anyone who has had a similar problem, so unfortunately I can't help any more than this. :( Good luck. -- TERO talk 23:31, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- I found the problem recently. It seems as though they deleted the character that I had put on the ignore list. For some reason, the game seems to check friend/ignore status by character, so once they deleted the character, their account was able to see and talk to me again. I deleted the old one, and put a newer character (the one they've been using recently) on the list. So far, all's been nice and quiet. Hope this helps, and if not, hope someone knows what that was. -- 192.168.0.11
- Thanks for reporting back. I've added this info to the Friends List article. Biscuits 21:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm glad you got that straightened out. It can be pretty frustrating when someone is constantly bothering you when you're trying to relax and play a game. If you haven't already, this might be a good thing to bring up to support. As Biscuits said, thanks for reporting back. --tero 02:30, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

GW account password
When I changed my GW password (in-game at login screen) it sent a arandom one to my email address. How do I change it manually? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:200.7.194.41 (talk).
- The option on the login screen is to reset the password, not change it. To change it, login, then in the character selection screen you will see some buttons on the bottom. Click on "Edit Account." There, you will have the option to change your password. If your account is linked to a PlayNC account, you will be taken to the PlayNC website and will have to login to your PlayNC account and change the password from there. If you do not have a PlayNC account linked to your account, you can just change it at that ingame screen. --Dragon nataku 15:06, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I had guild wars prophicies on my account, then my girlfriend bought the deluxe edition that has Proph and Eye Of Ohe North on one disk...Not know anything about how guildwars works she tried to make an account of her own and ended up putting her key on my account. is there any way to take her key off my account and make her an account?
- Not automatically. Contact support, and see if they can help you. Biscuits 21:22, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
It's been nearlly 8 years & ive lost acc' log in info!!!
I registered an account .... urm ... may be as long as 8 years ago, and played it as a rogue for a very short time before moving away, now that i have access to the internet once again i have loaded it on to my new PC, however when i enter the product key the system tells me this is already accociated with an account ... Great!
However! I cannot remember, firstly the email addy that i used to establish the account or the pass word i set once the account had been established!!!
How can i rectifie this?
The game was purchased at "Choices Video", Market square, biggleswade. some years ago and the recpt for it is no longer in my possesion, what should i do now?
Please help .... Paul Jacques

- A couple of pointers first:
- Rougue is not a profession in Guild Wars. Do you mean Ranger?
- Guild Wars has only existed since 2005, so 8 years is way too long ago to have made an account.
- Taking account of the above two points, I'm guessing you're not talking about Guild Wars and you are on the wrong website.
- If you are taking about Guild Wars, you need to contact the official support, stating that you have the access key for the game, and they will help you if they can. Biscuits 18:32, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Sharing
Is it legal to share my acc with a friend? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Nqkoi13 (talk).
- It is against the User Agreement (under the "4. Account" point). -- ab.er.rant 16:22, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- It is also bad common sense, as I have two friends that have known eachother for YEARS and have been to eachother's houses. One time, friend A left his game logged in at friend B's house, and friend B stole all his items and deleted all of his characters. Needless to say, he is now EX friend B. This all resulted from some stupid fight they had about something so inconsequential that no one even remembers what the original argument was about. Soooo... either never ever have an argument with your friend, or don't share the account. :op --Dragon nataku 03:42, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Special Edition Factions
I have seen some people with holograms around them when they are danceing and when asked them how they got it they told me i had to buy the Special Edition for Factions to get it. But i already have the normal factions and I am wanting to know if i can still get the bonus stuff without starting a new account. If anyone knows if i have to start a new account or if i can just add it to my existing account please tell me. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Shadow89 (talk).
- No, you can add a Factions Collector's Edition key to an account which already has Factions. -- Gordon Ecker 08:30, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Please note (as stated in the Collector's Edition section of the Guild Wars Factions page) that adding the Factions CE key to your account that already has regular Factions on it will NOT add anything other than the signature dances ( /dancenew ) for assassins/ritualists and the miniature Kuunavang minipet. No extra character slots or storage tabs or anything else. --Dragon nataku 03:49, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Account information
I lost my account information is there a way that it recovered and sent to my e-mail address --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:75.30.194.92 (talk).
- Your account name is the email address you used to register. If you still have that email address, you can open the game client and use the reset password link to obtain a new password. -- Gordon Ecker 00:55, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
If I delete my guild wars acount can I reuse my game activation card key?
Yeah, so basiclly what the headline asks. The thing is I have two acounts, one with Night Fall and one with Factions(which i just got). I was wondering if i could delet my factions acount, & then re-use the activation key, seeings how it woudn't be in use, & then add it to my other acount? Thanks--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:82.163.237.232 (talk).
- As far as I am aware, they don't delete accounts. Ever.- TheRave 10:08, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- If you want to merge the two accounts, you may be able to get that done through support page on the official website, but I'm sure you will have to provide all the information, including the activation code for both games, but you will have to contact them directly to find out. -- Wyn 10:12, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Last I heard, Anet does not merge accounts. Then again, by "last I heard" I mean after we were allowed to buy more char slots, which nullified the need for multiple accounts. After that option became available, all the people who had multiple accounts were clamouring to have their accounts merged, but Anet refused. Perhaps they've changed their minds (although when I tried to merge my two PlayNC master accounts, they ended up not doing it). --Dragon nataku 01:50, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Forgot account
i forgot my account name and password for guildwars factions. i am able to play guildwars but not factions. i have all the correct access keys, but it's been a while since i played. can you help.
anna lambros 76.24.126.230 16:05, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Umm... Guild Wars Factions is Guild Wars... I assume you mean Prophecies, which means you have two accounts and you forgot the login and password for one of them? If so, there's nothing we can do here. Contact support. In the meantime, try looking through our GWW:FAQ, your questions are already answered there. -- ab.er.rant 16:19, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps you are on a Prophecies character that has not gotten to Lion's Arch yet and/or not taken the quest to get to Factions yet. You have to travel to the campaign before you are able to play in it. The quest to go from Prophecies to Factions is Mhenlo's Request, from Firstwatch Sergio [Skills] in Lion's Arch. --Dragon nataku 01:54, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
