Is it repeatable? I want to keep it in my quest log so I won't accept the reward if not. Lyra ValoUser Lyra Valo Sig.jpg 14:49, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Yes. Just switch districts, like usual with repeatable quests. Judas 14:54, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Anybody have any tips for defeating the Annihilator Golem? It's kicking the crap out of me! lol
Let Bane tank, don't stay in melee range very long, just move in, get your Deep Wound on then move back. Spam the various Grenades on recharge, stand next to it, use Riot Shield, lay Land Mines and move away every time those skills recharge. If Bane dies pull the Annihilator away from his corpse, making sure to dodge the projectiles and he'll res. Lyra ValoUser Lyra Valo Sig.jpg 15:01, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Many thanks. It helped a lot :D
Bane will rez even if the annihilator is standing next to him --99.234.253.59 16:02, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
I hate this quest. Most of the attacks don't harm the golem they just waste energy. Ramei Arashi 16:27, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Most of the golem's skills are line-of-sight. There is a big column in the middle of Ashford that can block his skills, and you can trap around it while he gives chase. Tristan c 17:47, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

This quest is fantastic. Wish there were more. Thanks A.R.E.N.A.net for adding the new content Future User Future Signature.png 15:16, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Pre-Searing Ascalon not so much[edit]

For anyone interested, I tried to zone into ascalon city but theres an invisible wall where you would normally warp into the outpost in pre. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 16:26, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

I've tried every existing portal in both areas. There are visible or invisible walls in all of them. Tub 16:41, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Didn't try hard enough Ashford.jpg The Black Leech 16:48, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

How'd you get in? Ailina 00:27, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
There's a hole in the fence. But it seems that Bane stands right there so you can't get out. At least I can't get out :-(
BTW, shouldn't there be a ghost visible from outside? Or will it spawn in a few years? :-) --Cyberman User Cyberman Mastermind Sig.gif 07:51, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

If you die before the golem does - and then the golem dies during the 10s countdown you return to the future - it completes the quest. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 16:58, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Corporal Bane[edit]

I accidentally got corporal bane killed. After a short while, he just re-spawned himself. Is he supposed to do that? 131.151.70.190 20:09, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

More Trivia[edit]

2029 is another terminator reference and 1984 is a novel by George Orwell. If this is correct, should this be put in the Trivia section?66.245.132.31 20:15, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps you should read the trivia section first and you can see it is already there. 1984 is also Terminator reference, so that novel nothing has to do with it. 87.97.118.60 20:17, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Yupp. 1984 is the year The Terminator was released and 2029 is the year from which the Terminator was sent from. Orwell's 1984 is a fine novel, but has nothing to do with this whatsoever.
The Vanguard Reputation Points amount is the same as the year the first Terminator movie was released. The Terminator on IMDB.RandwulfX 18:25, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Teaser for Guild Wars 2[edit]

Sorry for double post, but this has nothing to do with the earlier trivia I mentioned. Corporal Bane says that 'Time Travel won't exist for another 250 years'. If I recall correctly that is when Guild Wars 2 takes place, this might not be all "April Fools" after all....66.245.132.31 20:21, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Except for the fact that the books give us a pretty good indication of the technology in 250 years time. There will be crude firearms, sure, but stun batons, plasma rifles, and time travel are simply outside the realm of Guild Wars 2. It's an April Fools joke. A very good one, but a joke none-the-less. --Mystisteel 20:55, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
and saying time travel wouldn't exist for another 250 years only means it was invented at that time the Commando's could be from 500 years later or even more! --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 21:42, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Surely if theres golems using balls of energy to deal damage right now, there can be plasma rifles in 250 years time? Xlabratx 22:37, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Folks, some of us have actually read the lore for GW2 (which takes place during the time-frame Bane says he's from). Flintlock rifles and pistols, high magic, and pretty much the same Tyrian continent settings (sans dragons and destruction) as GW1. There are no assault helicopters, pew pew lasers, or riot gear in friggin' GW2. Can you people NOT take an April Fool's Day joke? It's a JOKE! --67.252.52.36 22:59, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Actually, I'm pretty sure that some asura somewhere has invented lasers...Not that that means laser weapons will exist in GW2. Zolann The Irreverent 00:08, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Did you even log in today? "Asuran Time-Gates". If they can teleport things on a large scale across the world, I'm willing to bet that in 250 years they can somehow figure out time-travel. Anyone from any time period can now appear at any other time period, thanks to Anet's amazing ability to burn their legacy to the ground.
But you also have to consider that the time portal thing that Bane and his buds used malfunctioned and only he got through. So, if these asuran time-travel portals were to truly exist in the time of GW2, they sure as hell would not be reliable. In any case, it was an April Fool's joke and probably will not have an effect in GW2. And there could alwasy be 'magic lazers' *cough cough air elementalists cough*76.208.52.4 01:10, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Devistated vs Healthy?[edit]

Isn't odd that the compass shows the area as devistated, like post-searing ascalon? --~~Lotus~~ 22:31, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Not really. The instance actually takes place in post searing ascalon with the pre-searing framework laid on top of it. --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 22:35, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Reward[edit]

I believe it should be noted that the reward you get for the Quest The 2,029 exp is reference to a Terminator game. Where as the 1,984 vanguard exp is a reference when The Terminator came out.--Yozuk 01:48, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Ascalonians and Krytans[edit]

They each have 2 builds and 2 models per profession - the builds are shared between the two groups. Not sure if the builds are linked to the models but I assume so. Likewise, for the models, one is a profession-based model while the other is a nation based model. The profession based models are not shared between the two groups. -- Konig/talk 02:39, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

I think I got all the bars down - watched for each one intently as they killed each other. May be off for mesmer. Models next. -- Konig/talk 04:47, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Got all models down and I was right - the model used and the build used are linked. Programming wise, they're different NPCs. -- Konig/talk 05:16, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

What the hell?[edit]

twice now I have gotten the annihilator down to zero hit points and then detonated a land mine on him for ridiculous damage and HE DID NOT DIE. What is the trick to it? Is this the joke? is he actually unbeatable? This character's survival record is dead now, if that's it then haha funny but whatever.--T-Lo 05:57, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

I've beaten it twice by just damaging it, no trick. At 0 hit points, he should be dead already. You must be a little off of that.131.151.70.190 06:15, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
took me several attempts and on the last one, had to run around the pig enclosure and let Reese respawn like 6 times before I could empty enough damage into it to kill it three times over - after its hit point bar was empty. could be lag, could be just on my end, but it wasn't funny. glad it's over.--T-Lo 06:18, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
There's "I'll Be Back!", but that wouldn't account for it surviving with an empty health bar. 24.197.253.243 10:42, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Sure it does. For starters, it wasn't "empty" - just low. If it was empty, he'd be dead. So the killing blow popped him back up 500 pts. He does it every time - read the skill. C0c0c0 15:52, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

No Orrians?[edit]

I find it odd that, while there are Ascalonians and Krytans running around everywhere, there isn't a single Orrian, despite them most definitely participating in the Guild Wars. Silavor UserSilavorSigIcon.png 10:36, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

The Orrians weren't involved in every battle (if you want confirmation ask Konig) --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 11:21, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

..or if there had been a third team using Fragspike. Tub 19:08, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Vampiric Weapons[edit]

If you have a Vampiric weapon equipped it appears to work in the solo mission. I imagine this is the same for Zealous weapon mods too. Just an observation. 90.212.250.194 19:02, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Cartographer[edit]

Note on catographer is bs. went in with 94.2% and scrapped BOTH reagent valley and lakeside and left with 94.2%. Learn to wall huge who ever added that note...cause theres no effing way you got to trip over to another +.1% let alone a couple points... Unless im not understanding this point system they have ofcoarse. Justice 22:01, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

I added that note. You can uncover additional area in both corners, I checked with texmod to be sure. Whether the uncovered bits gives you a visible increase in your progress bar entirely depends on your current progress. Tub 23:12, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
So your saying the difference is so insignificant that it may or may not change the 10ths place on you cartographer percentage? That note would make more sense on cartogapher pages then here at that rate. And even so the peeps looking at cartographer will laugh at it. Justice 00:06, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

armor when doing this quest[edit]

On my ele I had to do this quest many times before I could complete it. Even at a distance was taking damage and getting killed. When I did it on warrior I took little damage even when charging into golem and I beat it first time. Could it be the commando form does not change armor so my ele was still squishy but warrior wasn't? Ramei Arashi 02:03, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

That's been the pattern of ANet disguises. It's easier to do HotN using natural rangers or even Warriors; harder with casters. The health/attrib/energy runes/insignias usually don't work, but often the other upgrades do...so it might be worth taking the time to equip high-armor items if you plan on repeating with a squish.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:30, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Did it twice with my mesmer and had little difficulty doing it. I hate when peeps say stuff like "oh this was easy i did it really quick blah blah blah i used sabway..." but this quest really isnt that hard if youve done things like HoTN, boxing & and in general have soloed stuff. Know your skill bar & know your limitations. Hint, after you kill a mob use that elite shout so hopefully by your next fight your entering with regen and by the end you can reuse for next fight. LET BANE TANK THE GOLEM! Justice 03:09, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Did this with a level 12 Rit (wanted the Xp to level). He took a LOT more damage from the golem's attacks than the level 20 War. Also.. the golem targeted him more than Bane. I suspect that the armor was the reason (I still had on the starter armor)Osman Digna 14:07, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
That assumption is correct according to Monster AI. --Silver Edge 05:20, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Extra Cart Points[edit]

For anyone that was interested how much there was or where it exactly is.

Not too sure how to do a thumbnail..if someone could edit one in, that'd be nice. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Shanks R Us (talk) at 05:53, 4 April 2011 (UTC).

Just an observation[edit]

I know this is just a joke quest, and certainly not canon, considering the modern SWAT team theme vs the still relatively medieval setting of GW2 where this is supposed to come from, but I just have to point out that this is the fourth time an Asuran golem has been sent to kill someone in the human nations. Guildwarsrunner 21:09, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Removed[edit]

As this is no longer available I added the historical tag. Hope that is correct. After all maybe He'll Be Back Robdalf 06:44, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Usually, we don't add the {{historical}} for a festival quest. But then again, most of the April Fool's stuff never returns. So...there's not really a precedent for this type of quest.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 07:44, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Vanguard Points w/o EotN?[edit]

Will this quest give the points to someone without EotN? 71.194.198.101 20:22, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Haven't tested this quest yet, but Annihilator 2: Searing Day gives vanguard rep to toons without EotN, so I imagine this one would too. 64.15.81.27 23:43, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
