Can this be found in the dat? Mini Me talk 00:03, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

It can be found in the game, while playing. There are actually three versions. I'm guessing they provide varing levels of regen. Backsword 00:04, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Are we sure that it is actually a skill, like "Titans get health and cause burning after take damage", or just a game mechanic? Vili User talk:Vili 00:09, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

It's been documented on other wikis as a skill. I'd think it made sense that they are true about that. And I needed th page for a wikilink xD This is a sublimial request for research. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 00:10, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
I can provide you with the ids if you want to look it up yourself. Backsword 00:11, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Also, strangely, there have been two pages which linked to this [1] Oo
I can put up a screenshot of the skill, if you like.. poke | talk 00:30, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
I was actually asking if it could be found in the dat for a skill description of some sort, but I guess there isn't. Mini Me talk 11:37, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

If it's a skill it stands to reason that it can be disabled. Materia user 01:12, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

It can't be disabled because it has no activation time, recharge, or duration -- it's a passive effect, so assuming bosses/boss-like foes ever "use" this, it would be before anything is in range to disable it ~ WELL HELLO Chao 20:26, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Confusing line[edit]

The following line: "Some non-Prophecies bosses (most Wurms, Ether Seals and others)", which refers to enemies who have Natural Resistance, is confusing. If it means that bosses from campaigns other than Prophecies have it, then the reference to wurms and ether seals makes no sense. If it means that non-boss foes from Prophecies have it, then it's badly misworded. I would fix the line myself, but I don't know which meaning is correct, or if both are. --Wormwood 14:48, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Who has passive resistance[edit]

We probably haven't identified most of the NPCs that use this skill. I'm publishing the list to aid in cleaning up NPC articles, with a view towards clarifying which NPCs do (or do not) bring Natural Resistance.

The code used identifies articles that:

  • Use {{NPC infobox}}, i.e. they are NPCs and
  • Links anywhere in the article to Natural Resistance (i.e. it will unfortunately include NPCs if there's a note about them not using the skill).

So it appears as if (a) the current article gives an incorrect impression of which foes carry the skill; (b) we have failed to identify the NPCs that do (and do not) carry it; or (c) both. Accordingly, I'm putting a {{disputed}} tag on the article until we can get a more definitive list and/or description. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:19, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

There is indeed a discrepancy between the npcs listed here, and the npcs having Natural Resistance linked in their skill section. However, this list is correct, and the NPC-pages would need updating. That isn't usually done, since passive skills are difficult to determine.
My main char is a mesmer, and Wastrel's Worry is almost always on my skill bar. This makes it easy to identify Natural Resistance (or similar effects) and I can claim that each entry currently listed on this article is confirmed by my ingame experience. If you wish to dispute that, please do ingame tests instead of comparing to untidy data. Tub 12:43, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
My goal is to encourage us to clean up the relevant articles so that the published data is tidy. Perhaps it would be more accurate to have added {{section-stub}} rather than {{disputed}}: until Tub published the above, I couldn't find any evidence on the wiki that anyone had systematically or consistently checked the list on the article (i.e. it appeared as an assertion of a good guess rather than a statement of fact). When lists (such as this one) grow by accretion (e.g. everyone updates a little bit), they tend to become inaccurate over time. In particular, this list remains vague: e.g. almost all prophecies bosses, e.g. some outside Proph.
I'm willing to assume that (unless we know otherwise) that Natural Resistance is on the skill bar of any NPC for whom hexes and conditions expire more quickly. I'm also willing to assume that all Proph bosses and EotN boss-like foes have it, unless shown otherwise.
Perhaps the best way to proceed would be to add NR to the list of skills for all proph bosses (unless they have a specific note about not having it). We could probably do the same for boss-likes in dungeons. From what Tub's experience suggests, this would bring us to probably 90% accuracy or better...and that would allow us to leave it to folks to clean-up as they find discrepancies (rather than create a new — and probably stagnant — project to confirm specifics). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:33, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
There are known prophecies bosses without NR, like the undead spoiler-boss in the last mission or the Tree of Solitude. I'm sure more exceptions would pop up if someone bothered with testing.
IMHO we shouldn't claim to know more than we do. Thus I think it's a bad idea to add the skill to bosses without checking them ingame. Once it's added, everyone else will assume it has already been checked, reducing the chance for further checks from "low" to "zero"
This is a problem similar to Undead sensitivity to Light and Stun immunity: we can either document it as a trait of a vaguely specified group of NPCs, or we can precisely document it on every NPCs skill bar. Doing the latter requires more research, which I doubt anyone feels like doing. Tub 17:50, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
