Quest Difficulty
How hard do you think this quest will be? 15k exp usually notes a quest to be a "Master" quest. And I can't say I've ever seen a quest give more then 3k in gold.. As well as 100 tots.. Dhuum is one of the lesser gods.. I know most of us have defeated Abbadon.. but this might be an actual hard quest... Magic Talk 21:25, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

- Actually...Dhuum is still considered a major god considering grenth could never kill or fully defeat him, he only sealed away his power, and that was with the help of all the reapers. so...he could be as powerful if not more powerful then Abbadon, and abbadon's power was still half way chained when we beat HIM!
- From GW manuscripts and lore posted to wiki he's a lesser god. Same as Minzies which we may see later on the FoW upgrades? :P Magic Talk 03:48, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

- I had that idea too (Dhuum like Urgoz), but it would be strange if there would be two UW's: The normal UW with the quests and a second as Elite Mission. - Maybe the idea is its like Urgoz, but you have too do the quests too fight dhuum, instead of areas. though area effects would be nice, Chaos Plaines giving longer skill cast times and bone pits reduced healing for example. Reaper94 22:38, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Assumption: All Everlasting mopstoppers used - Dhuum will come
When the mobstoppers are out of stock, Dhuum should be arriving quicker, due to killing his Skeleton's and him getting stronger. Several people have stacked piles in storage due to the repeatable quest. My assumption is that when those mobstoppers are used, skeletons will be killed without emprisoning them in a mobstopper, growing Dhuum´s power and arriving quicker. It should be in line with the story told by the four preceeding quests. Didis 21:57, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, that's unfortunate if you're assumption is correct (lol), because I'm keeping a stack in storage forever :D Karate Jesus 21:58, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Although, this does make me wonder.... A.Net hasn't stated a specific time for which this quest will be completed. In fact, they simply stated it is expected to start in a matter of days. However, what if (yes this is pure speculation) the official start time has nothing to do with a clock. I mean, the lore of this quest chain is that killing things in the Underworld (notably skeletons) gives Dhuum more power, and when Dhuum gains enough power he will break free. So instead of a time limit, A.Net may have simply set a counter for the number of Skeleton's killed game-wide since the end of the Halloween festival/quests. It would also explain the delayed release of this quest; give it a few days for the underworld to settle down into it's usual farming and measure the rate at which the skeletons are dying. Then use that rate to determine a reasonable count for which Dhuum should awaken. The whole thing would be fairly irrelevant and completely untestable; however, it would be interesting if A.Net was actually programming the game to live up to the lore. Blood Red Giant Mani Mortus 22:55, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think it is more likely that the time will come when a certain kill count number (i.e., any death - player, or creature) has been reached in the Underworld (it should be possible to count deaths in all instances of the Underworld). My guess: 6,660,000 (for the 666 reference) kills, Dhuum comes. That is, if it isn't a natural timer. -- Konig/talk 23:06, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Psst... actually, they just couldn't finish the quest in time ^^; — Poki#3 (talk) 23:36, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- @Blood Red Giant: Kind of like how they're adding the battles against dragons in GW2? Have you noticed they're slowing tying knots in the lose ends of the lore as we work to GW2? So x kills are achieved in the UW and a server announcement appears from the Voice of Grenth looking for noble heroes to kill Dhuum (kind of the same idea behind the Dragon Festival when they start up the missions and the server announcement is cast). [You'll realize if you watch the devs notes here on the wiki that as they code GW2 they tend to test little things out on GW1.] Hmmm.. *ponders* :P Magic Talk 01:27, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Dhuum will charge into town. The Steward will then transform us all into candy thanks to power granted by thorn, and there will be a massive battle between a ginormous god and hundreds of players in town. --King Of Kamelott 14:36, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

- Lore wise, you're not killing the skeletons. You're trapping them with mobstoppers. It just so happens that they can be trapped regardless if they're weak or dead. (I think the quest even says "we can't kill them, so trap them instead).Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 18:05, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

The skills of dhuum maybe, its getting hard
Curse of Dhuum: Resurrection is disabled. Should you die, your spirit will travel to the Forgotten Vale. Non-living creatures gain 50% less benefit from healing.
- Dhuum's Rest: Spell. Channel energy towards putting Dhuum to Rest. Easily interrupted.
- Dhuum (skill): Dhuum does cool stuff.
- Summon Champion: Spell. Summon a Champion of Dhuum.
- Summon Minions: Spell. Summon Minions of Dhuum.
- Touch of Dhuum: Touch Spell. Steal 100 Health from target touched foe. That foe suffers from 15% Death Penalty. If Touch of Dhuum steals health from a foe with 60% Death Penalty, that foe dies.
- Reaping of Dhuum: Scythe Attack. For 15 seconds, Dhuum moves between targets each second dealing 150 damage with each attack. Dhuum does not target something more than once. Dhuum will stop these attacks when there are no eligible targets in the area of his last attack.
- Judgment of Dhuum: Spell. For 4 seconds, Dhuum deals 75 damage to everything in the room each second.
- Weight of Dhuum: Scythe Attack. For 5 seconds, target foe moves and attacks 90% slower. Triples casting times. Foe receives 75% less benefit from healing and has -10 Health degeneration.
- Encase Skeletal: Spell. Target Skeletal is rendered harmless for 15 seconds.
- Ghostly Fury: Spell. Deals 50 damage. Disables Dhuum's Rest for 10 seconds.
- Dhuum's Rest (2): Spell. Channel energy towards putting Dhuum to Rest. Easily interrupted. Disables Ghostly Fury for 10 seconds.
If it are the real skills isnt known but if it is its gone be hard. SF won't survive it 600hp also not because you get 75%healing and monks with balance group. Well it will be even hard maybe we need to go 8player discordway Mo/N to kill it.Death Sligher 23:32, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Nice catch. This doesn't smell like an easy quest, but I hope I'm wrong. Markus Clouser 00:19, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- E-denial looks like it'll hurt him. His skills are overpowered as hell but they all have nasty energy costs associated with them. Spirit shackles should work, it's pretty obvious he (or at least some of his minions) will attack directly, per Reaping of Dhuum. My guess for the fight is that there will be a "Dhuum Health Meter" somewhere, which can be reduced with that skill whose name escapes me that "Dedicated energy to binding him" or whatever. In the meantime, you deal with his gay imba lolmg skills and the occasional wave of minions, similar to the Abaddon or Great Destroyer battles. Either way, new content is desperately overdue. –Jette 03:38, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- It seems to me that the skills Encase Skeletal and Dhuum's Rest (both of them) are likely to be special player skills. That leaves 7 remaining skills to make up Dhuum's bar. Given that we have unique skills for this, I suspect that this will be another mission whereby we go in as a Steward of the Mad King, or possibly even as a Reaper form. (I hope you guys saved your Phantasmal Tonics!) Otherwise... If we're going in as a standard party, I'd suggest bringing a Blind bot to keep Dhuum from using his devastating scythe attacks, a Paragon with Can't Touch This! to stop his touch attack, and a Ranger with Broad Head Arrow to stop his spells. Complete shutdown.

- Zaxares suggestions aren't too bad; however, Broad Head Arrow won't work as most (if not all) of his spells have 0 cast time. I don't really feel like checking that again, but I know at least Judgement of Dhuum does. Also, I was thinking about simply snaring Dhuum with a few snares to remove any inherent speed boost, spread out, and keep kiting him. You'd keep the guy busy while not taking any damage directly from him. However, we'll soon see how well that theory works in practice. Blood Red Giant Mani Mortus 16:23, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- May I suggest Tryoptophan Signet instead if you are trying to slow him? The signet will last it's full duration on bosses, unlike hexes and conditions. Also, I agree with Zaxares that Can't Touch This! looks like a wonderful skill here. Toss that on a modified imbagon and you should be fairly well off. - Oooh, good idea on Tryptophan Signet! I'll have to remember to bring that. I have a feeling that the Dhuum skills are not fully finalised either; it's very rare for spells to have a 0 casting time. If they are, they're usually skills, not spells. If they do turn out to be skills, then we can drop BHA and just rely on the "snare and spread out" method. I'd suggest a Shroud of Silence assassin, but the duration is far too short for it to be really useful. - Zaxares 00:21, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

A Mes/Par with: 'Echo' & 'Blackout' + 'Can't Touch This' or Mes/Mnk with: 'Echo' & 'Blackout' + self prot etc... Just use a rock candy for self speed buff, will need a E-gain skill or a BiP Nec etc in team to keep Blackout up for long 10E cost every 6~ seconds. Preview of Event System for GW2?
To me, this looks like Arenanet is giving us a taste of the random events we'll be seeing in Guild Wars 2. Some large event is going to be happening at an unknown time, and judging by Dhuum's skills we've seen, specifically Reaping of Dhuum, we might see groups of 15 or more. I'm not sure if that's possible and the 15 seconds is just so he could also target pets or spirits, but I think they're trying to stir some more interest for Guild Wars 2. 69.138.164.205 01:27, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hmmm.. I just said something close to this above.. It'd be cool but I hope it doesn't take a lot of people in 1 area.. My computer is decent.. but I don't think it could take the lag. x.x Magic Talk 01:31, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Again, doubt it. Everyone needs to quick being so quick to jump to conclusions about GW2. Just because something new was introduced into GW1, doesn't mean that the GWLT stole the idea from GW2 development. It could just be (*gasp*) that they made it for GW1...... Karate Jesus 02:31, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not saying it will or won't but you never really know. And yes, the live team does take things from the GW2 dev teams as things have been posted many times in different devs journals. For example, they've found a way to kill of the "sync enters" for random styles of PvP for GW2 and are currently working it into GW1. It just hasn't been released as their working on everything else, ie the Codex Arena, then Halloween as well as automating monthly updates. And btw KJ, don't be so negative about the game. Have a little faith. Magic Talk 03:46, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I would doubt something like this. If this was a preview of anything to do with GW2 it would have been executed in a far more effective manner. This seems more of Arenanet biting off more than it can true. ~~000.00.00.00~~ 03:51, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Why not test out ideas and concepts on a game before adding in a larger scale version to a game in creation? With all the community feedback, they could tweak things to perfection.. er.. as perfect as some kind of possible? Magic Talk 05:41, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I got a GW2 taste in my mouth when I took the quest and I saw everyone waiting, but to be honest I don't think this is the case. Think about it, could they actually do that? At the moment there are some limitations (like objects being in fact NPCs for example) so I don't think they could implement that kind of GW2 event system in GW1. But then again I could be very wrong. Markus Clouser 07:55, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- The reason they're making GW2 is because of limitations GW1 has that prevent them from having such kinds of quests. Assuming this is a GW2 preview is inaccurate. It's fully possible that this is content they added for Halloween (as crazy as that sounds) ~Shard 07:57, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

- I got a GW2 taste in my mouth when I took the quest and I saw everyone waiting, but to be honest I don't think this is the case. Think about it, could they actually do that? - Why not test out ideas and concepts on a game before adding in a larger scale version to a game in creation? With all the community feedback, they could tweak things to perfection.. er.. as perfect as some kind of possible? Magic Talk 05:41, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- I would doubt something like this. If this was a preview of anything to do with GW2 it would have been executed in a far more effective manner. This seems more of Arenanet biting off more than it can true. ~~000.00.00.00~~ 03:51, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Again, doubt it. Everyone needs to quick being so quick to jump to conclusions about GW2. Just because something new was introduced into GW1, doesn't mean that the GWLT stole the idea from GW2 development. It could just be (*gasp*) that they made it for GW1...... Quest Required?
Will we be able to fight Dhuum anytime we want after he shows up? Or do we have to have this one time only quest?
- We'll know once he shows up, I suppose. There's not really much news on this yet. We don't even know with absolute certainty that we'll be fighting Dhuum, not yet. --Kyoshi 07:27, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

- How was the economy ruined? I see signs of a strong economy: vigorous trading in items of all types; mostly stable prices in most items; and I can mostly buy anything I need in LA or Spamadan. While lots of people farmed bags, many did not. Many of those who did used the contents to further their own titles. Finally, the price of ToTs increased far beyond the value of their contents, showing that demand for ToTs exceeded even the bountiful supply offered through H'ween. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:04, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

- Idk where you've been Tennessee but I haven't seen the game have a "strong" economy in years. Most items on the market are so cheap it's not even funny. And for those that run users around the game, prices for runs have dropped drastically over the years. The only "rare" items you see in the market are a few weapon skins (most from EotN), a few rare mats (mainly ectos/obby shards), and consumables (mainly EL tonics/Nich's gifts). Give them some time and most of them will drop in price as well. Magic Talk 06:46, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

- I've outlined my criteria for strong economy above; I do not think that "high prices" alone determine whether an economy is strong or weak. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 07:56, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Most people who complain about a collapsing economy are doing so from a seller's viewpoint. They have lots of items, whether materials or rare/unique drops, and lots of ways of producing more items: farming, running, speed clears, and so on. From this point of view, prices being low is not good, because it undercuts what they can sell those items for. From almost any other point of view, prices being low is good, because it means more people can afford to buy the things they want. To put it another way: ectos being 4k each is terrible if you want to sell a stack of them, but great if you want to buy chaos gauntlets now rather than after another six months of grinding. Not that I know why anyone would want chaos gauntlets because they look as ugly as sin, but that's another matter. -- Hong 08:06, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

- "Most items on the market are so cheap it's not even funny." This statement validates the belief that the economy is healthy. The various gold sinks in the game must be working as intended, to keep the supply of cash in circulation low. When theres an artifical shortage of cash, prices tend to stay low since on average there isn't enough cash available to charge exorbitant prices. A while back players complained that prices were too high and there was too much gp in circulation, thus Anet created these gold sinks, so now prices are low. You can't have it both ways. - To me it seems that Anet is consciously providing means for the newer players (i.e. those who have not been around since day 1 of GW) to acquire stuff for their HoM (titles, weapons - providing the gold to buy them if needed...). While I can see how the players who have been playing from a very early start may be a little annoyed (what? that newb just has to play the storyline accepting Zaishen quests and is maxing almost all the EotN titles while it took me ages of reputation farming?) I think I can guess why they are doing it. HoM seems to somehow link into GW2; rewarding former GW players by some (probably just nice-looking but otherwise negligible) extras makes sense (get people to move over to GW2) while creating differences within this group of former GW players (like: you can always see in GW2 if somebody has been playing GW from day 1 onwards) would probably not have the desired effect (might even make people linger in GW to obtain those extras). Just guessing though. --Iant 18:10, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
