A problem with totem of man[edit]

Well ive just noticed that with totem of man it still has the description as it was pre-nerf which is wrong as it said "you loose all energy" but with the nerf you dont loose any energy --Azreal of SkyrimUser Azreal of skyrim signature.jpg 09:33, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Looking at the Totem of Man article, someone has already put that down as a bug. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 15:06, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Surely if the skill now doesn't take your energy away it's a boost/buff not a nerf? Chibot2000 23:12, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Anomaly?[edit]

Is it a anomaly that you don't change form even tho it is a form skill? Maybe but i personally think it was just them trying to make sure arcane mimicry couldn't effect ursan or the other blessings without cluttering the descriptions of the skills. User Tenri My image.jpg Tenri 06:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Probably okay either way. There is really no reason to say that a form type skill would cause you to change appearance, except that you do with the Dervish forms. If they hadn't existed first, would we say they were the anomalies? Of course, I still look forward to the day when there is a reason to again use this skill because it would at least have a fun visual effect. -- Inspired to ____ 13:51, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Well then why don't we add such an anomaly tag to Elemental Shift, because I swear I've never seen those drakes turn into elementals. Haru 00:44, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Tenri, that is exactly why we did it this way, but these guys are right. Just because it is a form, doesn't mean it should change your appearance. We won't ever change Ursan to turn you into a Nornbear. You are not a norn. You do not have the same racial traits as they do. Play a norn in GW2 if you want to change into a Nornbear. ^_^ - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 21:25, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
It does say You lose all effects and take on the aspect of the bear I'm not that disappointed though, since I rarely use the PvE Forms... -67.68.201.146 22:03, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

all effects?[edit]

well this is not tru exactly skills still work signets work wepon spells work and item spells work all casted befor ursan is cast meaning they carry on working as if they wernt droped to 0 atribute. the spells recharge wile ursan is up and now that energy dosnt drop to 0 when ursan ends all the spells can be recasted strate away

god y did they nerf it!

isn't it obvious? everytime ursanway was formed a baby was killed. sheesh... --Uchiha Lena 23:56, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Tyrian Skill Hunter[edit]

Does this skill count towards the Tyrian Skill Hunter title track?
If it does not I have a picture that is apparently a glitch.
Just asking because I could've sworn that I saw that PvE Elites don't count.

Nope doesn't count Kelvin Greyheart 04:21, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Maintained enchantments[edit]

At Raven Blessing, the notes state that you lose your maintained enchantments, is this also an effect of Ursan Blessing? Niccy 10:15, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that's the "You lose all effects"-part in the skill description. poke | talk 13:16, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Ummwhat?[edit]

Yeah. Unlike two other Norn blessings, mention about elite form is missed in concise description. This screenshot says otherwise. [1] I'm gonna edit the anomaly, but change it back if you need to. I dunno why you would though,if the "bug" is fixed. 24.233.254.51 00:21, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Needs a buff[edit]

Power of this skill should be changed back but not the maintainability. Raemon 20:50, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

I meant that "Needs reworking" was what Raemon meant, if he thought that the skill didn't work but didn't need a buff either. Paddymew 15:36, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Leave it be, its perfect the way it is, just takes a little more planning Nay the One and Only User Nay the One and Only SIG.png 09:08, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Some Thoughts[edit]

Possibly to go in the trivia area. The Constellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor (the Big Dipper and Little Dipper?) are also references to bears.
As far as form changing, I would like to point out that the Dervish forms are Avatars of the Gods, where as the Norn forms are of animal spirits. Although it would be cool to see the changes in the appearance of my char/toon as the effect of taking on the "aspect" of the animal spirit, I think the skill animations say enough. RandwulfX 19:15, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Not a reference. Both names are because "ursa" is latin for bear. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.64.57.218 (talk) at 21:45, 11 August 2011 (UTC).
The "bear" thing is already in the trivia. Agree that there could be some note about Dervishes-Gods / Norn-Animals, but it'd probably be on their pages or the Form page, not a specific skill. | 72 User 72 Truly Random.jpg | 23:01, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

UnNerf[edit]

since the books and such are easily ran now, and its not near as hard during these zaishen missions and reputation farms i see no reason not to unnerf it along with other totems. its extremely easy to rank up in EOTN titles, the past however Ursan and others were nerfed because it didnt leave room for group play as much unless you were a high rank. Thoughts?-personally this move would make the game enjoyable again for group play...Ursan way will return! Lithril 16:58, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

The reason it was nerfed was because it allowed people to roll over anything in the game with minimal effort. I hated it because I thought it was the worst the game could possibly get, PvE-wise. In retrospect, it was better than it is now because at least Ursan is open to any class that feels like playing it. All in all I'd have no problem with them reverting it to the way it was at release.
However, this isn't the place to make that suggestion. See Feedback:Main for a place to put your suggestions. –Jette 16:24, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
oh you mean like shadow form is doing now?, but way faster then anything ursan could of, funny thing, they ditch Ursan to Stop easy party farming(ursan took a tad bit of brain to use, I.E walling, chaining the K.D's.--121.214.209.83 11:50, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
They were changed so players could not keep them up constantly because people had them up constantly. And if you can have a skill that changes your skills up consntatly, you are no longer playing as your profession, but as that skill. That won't change ever, and so it will never go back to a skill you can keep up constantly. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 03:30, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
Well to add to above, if you think like that, what about shadow form tanking as any caster using 5 sin skill n 3 pve only skill to fast sweep tank dungeons in groups, like a few guilds i been in do...i did on my necro n mesmer, i wasnt playing there profession at all, or doing what there class was intended for, didnt even have 1 primary related skill, n doesnt take skill to tank with shadow form, just saying.--192.168.103.27 17:24, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

Ursa=female bear yes, but Ursidae=all species of bear/scientific name http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bear, so i personally think that should be added to trivia, since not only females can roll ursan >.>--121.214.209.83 11:50, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

What does it remove?[edit]

There's a note asking for research on what exactly it removes. I'm not testing it for every skill, but it has removed Enchantment spells (tested with Explosive Growth, Windborne Speed, and Vital Boon), Flash Enchantments (Fleeting Stability), sustained Enchantments (Recall), sustained Enchantments that someone else cast on me (Holy Veil), Stances (Drunken Master, Deadly Paradox, Hex Breaker), Shouts ("For Great Justice!", "I Am the Strongest!", "Fall Back!", "Can't Touch This!"), and Chants (Anthem of Envy).
It did not remove Spirits you control (Pain, Winds, Favorable Winds), Minions you control (Animate Bone Minion), miscellaneous summons (Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support), Signets (Dolyak Signet), Preparations (Read the Wind), Echoes (Bladeturn Refrain), Weapon Spells (Brutal Weapon), Item Spells (Blind Was Mingsong), Conditions (from the Students of Conditions), Hex Spells (Torch Hex), Ward Spells (Radiation Field, Ward Against Melee), Glyphs (Glyph of Lesser Energy), placed Traps (Barbed Trap), spells that have an AoE effect over time (Maelstrom, Fire Storm), at least one Spell (Convert Hexes cast by a hero onto the player), and at least some Untyped Skills (Air of Superiority, Troll Unguent).
Conditions, Enchantments, and Hexes I cast on other targets remained when I used Ursan Blessing. Shouts and Chants that affect other allies ("By Ural's Hammer!", "Fall Back!", "Can't Touch This!", Anthem of Envy) remained on other allies but were removed from the player.
When I cast Life Siphon, the hex remained on my target when I used Ursan Blessing, and I got the health regeneration side effect of it. Blue Totoro 15:10, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
