Armen Landow was born as an only child to James, and Melissa Landow in the village of Ashford. Armen was a normal kid who enjoyed watching the plays that were put on in Althea's Actors Stage, and wanted to be an actor when he grew up. His parents helped him become apprenticed to Lady Althea, and quickly learned how the tricks of the stage were mostly just an illusion. He was preparing for his first play when a group of skeletons escaped from The Catacombs and raided Ashford: it was in this raid that Armens' parents were almost killed. Lady Althea was coming to check on Armen, when she saw the skeletons attacking his parents: She immediately distracted them and managed to kill them with only one spell. Althea then directed Armens' parents to Ciglo the Monk, and Lina the Healer, who were able to heal the cuts and bruises they had received before Althea had arrived. Armen knew his parents would have been killed if Althea had not arrived. From this moment forward, Armen not only looked to Althea as his theater teacher but also as his fighting mentor. Althea taught Armen all the skills that he would need to know to become a great mesmer, He was able to use what he learned to help the villagers of Ascalon, and earned the nickname The Master Mesmer. Just as he was about to finish his mesmer training, he got a message that he was needed by Armin Saberlin. He was told that his skills were needed to fight a dangerous charr named Vatlaaw Doomtooth; Armen reluctantly accepted the task. This was the day of The Searing, after that day Armen vowed never to help the Ascalonian Army fight the charr again. He spent the next two years trying to find Lady Althea, and eventually his travels led him finding Viggo at Piken Square who informed him that Lady Althea had been captured and killed by the charr. Armen then searched for the Ghost of Althea who told him to use everything she had taught him to destroy the charr. Armen ignored his previous vow and spoke to Master Armin Saberlin about stopping the charr.
