How do you know they're unranked, and where are the heroes? I only see Norgu, no others. 145.94.74.23 08:24, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

If you check the positions on the compass, look at where the 8th blue dot (the one not in the screenshot) is. That's either a hero or a terrible player. Though I can't answer how he knows whether or not they're unranked (unless that last dot isn't a hero, in which case, lol). User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 08:42, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
We knew one person on the other team (the raining fame guildie) who got a bunch of randoms + heroes and hit "enter" because he was hugely bored. The team, without vent, stomped other teams all the way to golden gates and then stomped us, a high ranked group using vent and no heroes. -Auron 08:50, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Moral of the story, it never pays to be "honourable" when going up against overpowered shit like tease/smite heros. Pika Fan 09:12, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Generally it does. We usually hold halls for 4-5 hours at night, beating 1v1 euro randomways all night. We swapped out backline (we usually have yang), so we're trying to get back into the grove - but we shouldn't ever be beaten by teams carried entirely by their heroes. -Auron 09:34, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Hero randomway is strong. Misery 09:37, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Those guys werent unranked, it's an r9+ group hence the tags. Super is r10 and the other guys are r9+. Maybe i missed out on an r8212.87.108.27

Oh so the guildie is lying? Yeah ok. They were bad euros and you know it. -Auron 05:46, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Super as in the terrible rspike/sfspiker? --77.86.114.214 22:12, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Super is strong, he was beaten by a PvX pug in HA last night. Wait, does that mean a PvX pug beat a group Auron couldn't beat? That would make me laugh. Misery 22:16, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure LoL are terrible and Super is in LoL, therefore Crow can beat him anyway ;o --77.86.114.214 22:17, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I thought it to be an excellent tactical maneuver, and euros are pretty mad they didn't think of it first. — Skakid

Guild Wars isn't chess. ANet at least had the sense to realize that 28 minute conga lines were against the rules. -Auron 22:36, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
they say they only conga'd for the last 3 minutes though. 98.199.243.39 00:42, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm not saying that they didn't censor based on diction rather than content, but, uh... User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 00:13, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

I never thought I'd say this, but I completely agree with what Auron wrote. The "diction" is simply a representation how much ANet has pissed off people with this slap-on-the-wrist. King Neoterikos 00:36, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Didn't you tell me there was a "Guild Wars IQ test" to make accounts on Guru or something? I read the entire thread thus far, and think the test ought to be updated a bit. Vili User talk:Vili 03:16, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

He who swears to get a point across is running out of arguments. I can't say I don't agree with Auron, but because of posts like that one, I am leaning more and more towards Anet. 145.94.74.23 08:07, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
The amount of problems remain the same, so naturally Auron would run out of arguments unless if he wanted to make himself sound like a broken recorder. Maybe you should exercise a bit of logic before posting.<---This is one of the reasons Auron is pulling his hair out for-lack of common sense.Pika Fan 09:34, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, so should you, for Auron sounds like a broken recorder too if he swears all the time. I haven't seen any original anti-Anet rants in months. 145.94.74.23 12:33, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
I haven't seen any original anti-Anet rants in months. <---Thanks for supporting my argument about anet having the same problems, have a nice day.Pika Fan 12:36, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm actually surprised they already did something against it. Either way; you might be QQ'ing about rawr, but actually; the majority of the community doesn't care about it, the majority cares about tiebreaker(and if you actually did play guildwars, you'd know how much it would piss you off). Seriously; you don't even play guildwars, how would you care about it. Unexist 12:33, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

@Pika: when I mentioned originality, I meant the slight variations on: "fuck you Anet, you fail, now die plz". Nevertheless, the few rants that go deeper than that mention the same things again and again. Now, wheter you like it or not, Anet really has more information on the Guild Wars than we do. So maybe, just maybe, they know something you don't know, and they don't adress the issues because the players are wrong about something. And maybe, just maybe, players should stop encouraging eachother to hate Anet and try to see the good intentions that are no doubt behind all their efforts. I can tell you, that if I were an Anet employee, and I got bitched at by so many players, I'd already started removing HA ranks long ago. No person likes being adressed the way GW players consider standard 'conversation'. 145.94.74.23 13:00, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
If they really did, broken things like heroes wouldn't have existed. Have a nice day.Pika Fan 17:45, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Auron, you are being a complete retard right now.

1) We can't delete every single stupid, uninformed post. That would mean we'd have only like 5% of the users left, which means not enough income to keep the server up and running.

2) We DO leave anti-ANet posts. Yours was deleted because of the language in it, you had the chance to repost it, without the language you used, but you didn't. That's your own fault, and to complain about it afterwards is stupid.

Yes, the punishment was retarded, and didn't do a single thing. This doesn't mean we're going to delete every single post that actually AGREES with the punishment.

Personally I would've left your post, but apparently Bill thought otherwise. Mini Me talk 19:57, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

You're all bad mods with very few exceptions. It has been that way for over a year. Guru mods sucking isn't a recent event. -Auron 21:18, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Also, if the content was fine but the language wasn't, what happened to editing posts? Do mods not have that ability or have they simply forgotten to use it? Saying it was my fault that I didn't repost that bigass thing is stupid as hell, and honestly just supports my claim that you're all terrible at modding. Then again, the elite fellatio service for a bad creator of a dead game shouldn't have standards that are very high, so it's no big mystery. -Auron 21:21, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Why should the mods clean up your mess, when they can just as easily delete your posts? It's not as if people miss important information if they don't read it. 145.94.74.23 21:41, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
A full deletion is odd, seeing as how they've edited my posts numerous times before. I hate GWGuru. The pop ups, sold-outs, and banhappy mods (got kicked for 3 days once)... it's not a good forum.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 21:43, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah. Pub versus kind of sucks at the moment - it's still a fun game, but so many pubs will just hide in closets which makes playing infected really difficult. The recent infected buffs were aimed at balancing the playing field, but IMO, closets are still >>>> *. Maybe if they made smoker smoke do damage over time? Very little, so if you walked through it you'd take almost none, but if you were holed up in a closet you'd constantly lose health. -Auron 15:39, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

I really wish I could play it on the PC (like all FPS should be), but my graphics card sucks. I can play it, but smoker smoke and fire slow me down almost to the point where the smoke would give me damage anyway. --TalkAntioch 23:23, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

rawr[edit]

I'm a bit disconnected what did they do exactly? And the second link on your page comes up as an attack site. o.0 Invincible RogueUser Invincible Rogue siggyiggywiggy.gif 02:16, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

rawr and zero did a 28 minute conga line instead of fighting each other in a Monthly Tournament match. That violated the sportsmanship rule and the "gw is srs bzns" rule. Also rawr tried to defend it with retarded arguments like "since the tournament took place in 2009, 2008 rules don't apply." Which is ludicrous, but it's rawr, so ANet's going to defend them even if they break every rule in the book.
The second link is to a guru thread. Guru got spidered earlier for something, it'll be working by tomorrow. -Auron 02:18, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Why do you complain that you cannot tell the truth on Guild Wars Guru?[edit]

I saw your rant. But less obscene language next time please. Oh, and apparently, people aren't allowed to post the truth here either thanks to this. BTW, a friendly warning: Be careful of the advertisements on Guild Wars Guru. I tried clicking on your link to it and Firefox 3 blocked it as a "reported attack site". P.S. I'm not Shard. P.P.S. Quit blocking me as it doesn't work. P.P.P.S. In case you missed it, I'M NOT SHARD. Although I agree with Shard on many points. P.P.P.P.S. If you really hate Anet that much, why don't you join Shard's movement to declare Anet a bunch of failures?

Less English language next time? Oh okay. Also stop disrupting the wiki and you'll stop getting blocked. Ban evasion is legitimate reason for another block, so if you want it to end, all you have to do is stop posting until it wears off. -Auron 21:27, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
EC - because shard is a bad troll and lacks any semblance of tact. -Auron 21:27, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

You may find this funny. Scroll down to the bottom: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_talk:Regina_Buenaobra/Journal
Note that my translations are different form Shard's. I do not use bad language, and anywhere that bad language could go, I place four dashes. Also I do not use obscene references or terms.
Actually, I don't. It sucks. You should stop trying to imitate everything shard does, because he's the only one that is remotely successful at that kind of humor. His little pack of parrots remind me of a bunch of kids running around following daddy, repeating everything he ever says without understanding it first.
Also, swear words are a vital part of the English language. I don't applaud you for censoring text - in fact, I'm concerned that you don't understand you're doing nothing more than mutilating the language you're trying to speak. -Auron 21:35, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
I see that a member of the No-Cussing Club has invaded your talkpage, Auron. Should I contact 4chan? Vili User talk:Vili 21:37, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
No, I don't think that will be necessary. 4chan is full of idiots, and IMO, it should be shut down. Oh, and Auron, it's rude to interrupt people when they're posting. More civilized discussion please.

As for his reference to me not allowing the truth to be posted here, I would like to say, I have no problem with truth being posted, but I will not allow anyone to break the NPA policy and outright attack ANYONE just because they see it as some personal truth. The fact that Shard (or anyone else) is angry with ArenaNet and the decisions they have made regarding GW does NOT give him the right to personally attack it's employees with insults. There are plenty of ways to express your displeasure/anger/disgust with the decisions without calling people retarded, brain dead, or telling them they have the IQ of a chair. I wasn't discussing ANet. And yea, people would probably have a problem with you saying that on a help page. You could also try to rephrase your comment though, and everyone would be happy. Something like "no, I'm sorry, but there is no such thing as a manual sort function." WhyUser talk:Why Are We Fighting 19:09, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Or I could not, because it doesn't solve anything. If I asked that question and learned about the lack of a sort feature, my second question would be "why the fuck not? that's stupid as hell!" I simply saved him the trouble of asking.
If ANet didn't want me telling people about their half-assed game with half-assed functions and half-assed support, maybe they should have hired competent support people to begin with and users wouldn't have to answer questions on a wiki like this. I could understand asking wiki people about the game, but account questions? Those really should be all on ANet's plate. -Auron 19:16, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

I reverted Noob once, and that was a month ago. What are you up to Auron? Backsword 14:26, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Dancing daggers. You pretended to participate in discussion by calling everyone else wrong, then you reverted again without listening to anyone or making changes to reflect consensus. -Auron 14:28, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Right.. Given how that makes your log summary a falsehood and your obvious bias, I don't expect you not to know, but here goes:
Blocked users inserting false information in articles are excempt from 1RR. Twice. Backsword 14:40, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
The block reason is "violation of 1RR: discuss and make changes that reflect consensus, don't blow everyone off and pretend like you listened." You reverted three times. Consensus on the talk page wasn't anything like reached, yet you kept reverting the note. I know you think you're above the rules, but here in reality you get blocked for breaking them.
Not that it has the least bit of bearing on your case, but I might add the anon got blocked for breaking the rules too. -Auron 14:45, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
I think you have me confused with yourself, since you obviously didn't bother to read either what I wrote nor the policy you're prentending to enforce. Backsword 14:48, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
The part that says you aren't allowed to revert more than once? I got stuck on that bit, since that's the part you violated. It obviously wasn't vandalism, as evidenced by the talk page discussion, so the whole "you can break this policy to revert vandalism" thing doesn't apply to you. -Auron 14:51, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Fun. You're not even pretending to uniformity or not directing it at me. Backsword 14:55, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
What part of "don't violate policy or you get banned" are you not understanding? Is it the "don't?" -Auron 15:01, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
You can't plead ignorance at this point so there's no room to AGF on your part. Equally, I wouldn't hope to persude you to abandon your agenda. So there is no point in continuing this. Backsword 15:03, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
I can't plead ignorance of what? Please explain this to me since you seem to be making some huge logic leaps. Here is the situation from a third party's POV:
  • You and anon break 1RV policy.
  • You and anon get blocked for breaking policy
  • You whine about being blocked, yet you still haven't given a reason why you shouldn't have been blocked in the first place since you did, indeed, break policy
What part of this am I trying to plead ignorance to? -Auron 15:20, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Btw. Backsword, reverting someone because he violated 1RV can be a violation of 1RV, too. I saw you doing this some time ago. poke | talk 14:52, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Certainly, but that's not relevant. Backsword 14:55, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

You call this satire?[edit]

Quote: So knowing that, imagine what it would take for a small team of untalented people and myself to create a new map. We could only make a new map if we did our jobs, which is simply out of the question. That's an insult if I ever saw one. But I suppose it's not a personal attack because he insults the entire team instead of individual persons? 145.94.74.23 13:06, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

He is implying people are not doing their jobs, I am not sure I see the personal attack there, would you care to elabourate? Pretty sure he could directly say "The design team are not doing their jobs" and it still wouldn't be a personal attack, because you see... he isn't attacking them personally. Misery 13:12, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Just because you don't like or agree with Shard doesn't mean he's breaking policies. I may be wrong, but I believe Auron is demonstrating this.
Also, there's a pretty big difference between an insult and a personal attack. For example, Auron's a red billystick. 69.109.168.30 14:16, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
I am one indeed!
Yes, 145, that is satire. In case you are unfamiliar with the concept, I would ask you to read some more of it - satire, more often than not, is insulting. Something else that might help you understand the concept is the wikipedia article, the first paragraph of which describes exactly what I've stated here but in greater detail. Specifically, "In satire, human or individual vices... or shortcomings are held up to censure by means of ridicule, derision, burlesque, irony, or other methods, ideally with the intent to bring about improvement." That is spot on what Shard is doing - satirizing ANet's decisions and responses to the public. -Auron 18:09, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok, so I suppose that calling other people untalented is ok then? I'd just like to know which insults I can use here without getting a warning...there's a lot of people that are very untalented here. And on a side note, is something a personal attack if you direct it at a group instead of naming each individual seperately? Because I happen to dislike a certain group people who complain at Anet, have a Skill of the Day, got banned a lot in the past and are supposedly programming their own game. Those people are very untalented. Or is that breaking the discrimination rule? 145.94.74.23 07:30, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Wikilawyering isn't a violation of policy, technically. GL with that, though. User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 07:37, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Use common sense, and start with using it before posting. If the "certain group people" is exactly one person, don't bother trying to play it off as anything but what it is - you disliking another user. Dislike is fine, and isn't against any policy I know of - but don't get stupid and make it into any kind of feud or you run the risk of being blocked for disruption (or any specific policies you break in your attempt to discredit him).
You stay on your side of the wiki, and he'll stay on his. His violations are being taken care of by admins, so don't be a prick and try to prod him even more - just leave him alone and I'm sure he'll do the same to you. -Auron >8< 07:47, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
You're missing my point Auron: I was asking why it's a problem to insult individual people but it isn't when you insult an entire group at once just to save time. 145.94.74.23 08:08, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
It's common sense to me that an insult is an insult, wheter it breaks the policy designed to counter them or not. As for being that prodding prick: all I'll do is report the things my that common sense says are insults. I won't talk to or about those people any more than I have to. But when it comes to common sense and simple decency, well, then this wiki could use a lot more of both. 145.94.74.23 08:14, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Because satire is a higher form of communication than simple insults. It has nothing to do with insulting a group of people over a single person, and I don't know why you got that impression to begin with. To quote for emphasis, "In satire, human or individual vices... or shortcomings are held up to censure by means of ridicule, derision, burlesque, irony, or other methods, ideally with the intent to bring about improvement." There is a difference between that and "man anet sux." Satire is okay - as long as it is done well. Harassment, asshattery, and pointless insults are not. Shard has been blocked for the latter in the past, and is learning to refine his points and argue with more tact.
Regardless, I think you're forgetting some minor details. You're whining incessantly about how it's ok for Shard to insult people when it's fucking obvious that it isn't, and several admins have attested to that in the form of blocks. If you're going to rant about common sense, look in the mirror first, please. -Auron >8< 08:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Also I want to note, that if someone said "anet are a bunch of pricks because they dont do their job and heres how to fix it...", then even though they might be trying to be constructive and it was aimed at a group, they would still be in breach of NPA. In short attacking someone's work is not attacking the person. I don't personally like what Shard has on his page, however it isn't breaching NPA directly. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 09:13, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, you could have just said that in the first place and I wouldn't have bothered you about it anymore. I guess you just wanted to educate me though...thanks for the lesson. 145.94.74.23 07:43, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi[edit]

Auron, both JonTheMon, an IP trolling my page, and Anja agree the page was fine the way it was. Salome also seemed perfectly satisfied. I refuse to have my page edited particularly by other people, just in case the point is not clear every time somebody doesn't love it the way it is. I am reverting your edit on *my* UserPage, as frankly the majority of those concerned, the marjority of Sysops concerned, have no problem with it.

Next time you have a dispute with me, feel free to talk to me about it on my *Talk*Page. Like I said - I have already edited the page to please Sysops, at the moment you appear to be the only one who has a problem with it. --> A F K When Needed 18:13, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Another thing - it should be up to me, if the page is unacceptable which to most it is not... how it is improved upon to make it acceptable. I'd be much more open to your suggestions, and much less hostile, if you recognised everyone but you agreed it was fine and asked me to change it instead of simply editing my page, which I frankly am getting pissed off with other people taking it upon themselves to do.
If I get agreement from several Sysops, please bear it in mind and consider being polite. I'm a responsive person, go in being headstrong and I'll return the favor. Have a nice day. --> A F K When Needed 18:16, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Uh.. where exactly did you read that the above people find it fine? Anja told you to remove it, Salome didn't like the way it was presented (i.e. as the new messages message), and the IP... well, he wanted both the box and the link to go. Considering that you've ignored other people's requests to remove or change the appearance of the box and/or the link, I don't think you are being "a responsive person". --User Brains12 circle sig.png Brains12 \ talk 18:29, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Brains consider reading Anja's TalkPage and enlightening yourself. Don't join a dispute which is largely over just to throw your weight around. Apart from Auron everyone says it's fine. --> A F K When Needed 18:42, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I really don't get you. You've seen they agree - you posted further down in that same section... --> A F K When Needed 18:44, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Ack, I'm getting mixed up with the timestamps and history times and when I was online to message etc - DST and all that. Still, Auron's point about imitating the system message still stands - there are a number of ways to link that, and it doesn't have to be a system-wide style. I hadn't thought this discussion was over considering it's still ongoing, and my weight kinda too heavy to throw around, but I digress. --User Brains12 circle sig.png Brains12 \ talk 18:53, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, reread that discussion. They agree my one is fine, CA's they're not as happy with, then move on. If it's still ongoing... where is it ongoing? Either reading where the link points, or the message, tells you it's not a system message. Now, if you click on links before looking at the page in question, it's not me falling short. How can you stick the mouse on top of words without so much as reading them? --> A F K When Needed 19:05, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Your userpage is free to have whatever shit you want, up to a point. Banners imitating legitimate system messages is past that point. I'm not sure what people's fascination with trying to imitate that particular message is, but people have been trying to do it since GWiki, and have been getting it removed since GWiki, too.
Provide a single good reason why you can't have that banner in any other color (or style, or size, or placement, or any of the hundred plus things you could do to make it not like the system message) and I'll be more willing to listen. But so far, your only excuse is "it's my userspace, I can do what I want," which is complete bullshit as an argument, since it holds about as much water as "it's my userspace, i can attack others if I want."
As a side note, being hostile won't help your case in the least, since I'm not about to be intimidated. -Auron >8< 20:20, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

I never mentioned intimidation; I said I would not be inclined to listen to any suggestions you may have. If I saw on my Talk Page something like Hi / I realize other Sysops have given you the all clear, but I'd be grateful if you'd change the banner again, thanx - Auron, I'd start thinking of ways to do this, and I'd happily look at anything you'd suggest e.g. a green box
My point is if it's my User Page and I've gone out of my way to ensure the current style is accepted by Admins - and it was - by more than one, it would show better decorum to try and keep that in mind. I made a UserPage, I changed it after being asked to, I checked the new version with the Admin who asked me to change in the first place (instead just running up to a Sysop I know IRL or whatever). After I'd done that (which imo makes me rather reasonable, to be fair) you really didn't have to take it upon yourself to ignore the opinions of others and edit my own page without my consent. You must have seen I was taking advice / instructions on board and there was no need to do it yourself. You ignored this, however.
And no particular fascination, I saw it on CA's page and, after being tricked by it; was forced to agree it was impressive. Did I post a WoT of QQ on his TalkPage? No. I thought it was brilliant and, after the most minor of improvements, added it to my own Page. I didn't cry about hacksites durr... idiot IP, I didn't moan about being tricked. Such things happen in life - and I lost nothing, and had a laugh. And I've already stated my response when people approached me about my own Page, so I won't repeat it.
A final point: You may dispute my first response, but I'd ask you to bear in mind I was dealing with an IP trolling on several pages about something due to hacksites... --> A F K When Needed 20:53, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Sysop sysop is sysop. I would say something about how you shouldn't troll the admins or you should just be grateful Auron didn't ban you outright or whatever, but Auron's actually responsible and doesn't do stuff like that. Still, sysops uphold the policy of the wiki to their discretion, and until this wiki becomes a democracy, maybe you should consider listening to them instead of bitching at them over minor things. 69.109.167.12 22:05, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Troll the admins? That's hilarious, you may well notice I came here so that, by contacting him, I could edit my page so he is satisfied with it, and that I still like it myself.
