Signature[edit]
Please note that you need a normal text link within your signature and image sizes above 19x19 are not allowed per our signature policy. Thanks. poke | talk 18:52, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
- Damn! You guys finally caught me....ok. I'll work on changing it. Blah. By the way, why is the policy that way? My sig actually takes less room than most others. 18:56, 15 May 2009
- The code you are working on for your replacement sig is by itself 309 characters, this is without a timestamp. I find this excessive and feel it would be disruptive to editing. Please read the policy, and note that there is a suggestion of 200 characters or less. -- Wyn 19:45, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
- It is like that because people decided that it should be like that ;) We had multiple discussions on this in the past but most people just prefer it the way it is. I mean personally I have absolutely no problem with your signature, it looks really nice, but if we allow one we will have soon a lot more like that and not all will look as good as yours ;) poke | talk 19:48, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, well, I'll just make it something basic then. Maybe you guys should have a policy suggesting that sigs can be images if they are 19px or less in height and 80px or less in length or something. Idk. KarateJesus 20:00, 15 May 2009

- Yea, it's been discussed thoroughly, and there was a recent(ish) policy change request talking about this. Overall, people pounced on the "BIG SIGS=BADBAD" idea.-- anguard 20:08, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, but how big could a 19x80 pic sig be? I've seen some big-ass sigs that technically fit into the policy but were just as disturbing as a pic sig would be. (btw, isn't your "V" technically 20x19?) Karate Jesus 20:11, 15 May 2009
- hm, you're right. It WAS 19x19 at one point, but it still doesn't seem to be breaking anything.-- anguard 16:37, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I never got that either. As long as it preserves line height, I don't care. And I'd rather see:

userspace redirects[edit]
Hi, as far as I know, you cannot redirect a mainspace article (such as KJ) to your userspace. If you want a redirect like that, the closest thing you can do is register User:KJ and redirect that userpage to yours. :) -- Wandering Traveler 01:02, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

- There's no real specific clause denying, but its common spirit that the mainspace is for articles relating to GW, and the userspace is regarding user matters. redirecting within namespace parameters is fine, but redirecting from one to another (such as main to user or main to guild) is bad. -- Wandering Traveler 01:06, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Excuses[edit]
There is a difference between an excuse and a rationale. Learn it, and apply it. — Jon Lupen 04:21, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Jon, if you would pull your head out of Anet's ass long enough to take a deep breath of something besides fecal matter, you'd stop being such a fanboy and realize that sometimes the things Anet does are just bad policy. One of those bad policies is the rather recent turn toward, as Regina put it, "black box[ing]" us. Now kindly get the fuck off my page. Karate Jesus 13:05, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and btw, my dissension only comes from my love of the game. If I didn't love the game, I wouldn't care. Loving the game/company is not equal to kissing asses. I was doing my best to be polite to Regina in my statement (read the second and third sentences); however, I was also incredibly disappointed to realize that there will probably be no content update...and that it looks like the XTH is down for good. Considering that, I'd say I was pretty nice, so again please gfto. Karate Jesus 13:15, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- One more thing then I'm gone. If I was a fanboy, as you claim, I'd come storming onto your page raging and shouting something along the lines of "How dare you (fill in the blank)." — Jon Lupen 14:11, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Jon, Anet doesn't need a white knight to come riding in to save it on the wiki. They pay people to do that. I'm a realist and I don't have anything against the Anet staff or GW. I just try to look at things realistically, and an excuse is an excuse regardless of how you frame it. Karate Jesus 14:37, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I lied, I'm back. If I wanted to be the white knight who comes riding in to save the wiki I would have started an RFA a long time ago. There is always more than one way to look at things, I just point them out. I'm trying to get you to look at things from different angles, whether or not it changes your opinion is irrelevant. If I wanted to do that, I would be argueing with you now about how Regina's statement was a rationale and not an excuse. As for this comment and the one before it, those are just attempts to clear up misconceptions. — Jon Lupen 14:46, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I understand that other people may see it as simply a rationale for what has happened, but I guess I'm just tired of "rationales". /sigh. I guess I'm just tired and really wish GW would get a content update...or the XTH would get fixed...or heroes would get removed from GvG/HA...or Speed Clears would get fixed...or any one of the things they've talked about happening would happen. Anyway, didn't mean to shove that stuff down your throat. I just get frustrated with all that. Karate Jesus 14:49, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I can't say I blame you. We all have our hopes and dreams, and unfortunately they don't always come true, or atleast not when we want them to. I'm a bit too busy quaking in my boots over the turns Guild Wars 2 could take to worry about Guild Wars 1 right now... I guess the moral of the story is just to keep an open mind. — Jon Lupen 14:56, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- GW2 looks great and all, but I would really hate to see GW1 get neglected (not that it already hasn't). I like GW1 and would love to enjoy it for the next 2 years while GW2 is being finished, but w/o something being added to the game (or fixed) I just have no drive to care. Karate Jesus 15:05, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think GW1 is going to be neglected, they just need time to build up a proper team to properly support it. Atleast that's the impression I got after they formed the Live team. As for GW2, I think I'll keep my fears to myself to avoid raining on people's parades, but they have very little to do with skill balance. — Jon Lupen 15:10, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- The very fact that they don't already have a proper team to support GW1 is neglectful. Karate Jesus 15:14, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- You expected something other than neglectful? Moo Kitty 15:16, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Nope. I hoped for something other than neglect...but that could just be because I'm foolish. Karate Jesus 15:17, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- To hope is not to be foolish, it's to be human.
- It could mean one of two things.
- 1: Nobody quified enough is applying, which is very likely. I've heard plenty of tell that the software industry is short on learned programmers.
- 2: They don't have the money to pay additional staff memebers, wouldn't surprise me. The GW business model looks like it struggles at generating steady revenue.
- Granted these aren't the only posibilities, they are just the ones that I found most likely. I did hear tell that they are looking at hiring another designer for the live team. — Jon Lupen 15:22, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, they announced that several months ago. Karate Jesus 15:25, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sry Jon, I'm goin with KJ on this one... the problems have been highlighted (by rather vocal members who's methods I don't always side with)... they still exist... only Anet has the power to change or inform and neither seems to be happening... the reasons why may be rational, but they don't change the current problem... I did however love the last content change... want more plz MrPaladin talk 15:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree. I'm tired of the CR team claiming they want to inform us and then never doing it. I just hope Regina's right in saying that Linsey will update us soon. I could really use some good news about GW1. Karate Jesus 15:35, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I actually think what GW1 needs right now is a healthy dose of good PR: fix the XHT (pressing the revert button isn't all that hard, as admins on here know). Announce a REAL skill update, give some teasers. That Aion shit was, well, shit. Let's give people wings that have no benefit so they buy a totally different game than GW1, which won't apply to GW2, even though GW2 isn't coming out any time soon. But hey, what do I know. - The PR has been shitty for what? Like 1-2 years now, right? Idk, it would help them out a lot if they actually fix the XTH, but it looks like Regina is setting us up for that to go away. And it would be nice if we actually got a content update, but that also looks shady. Karate Jesus 16:12, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- If they could give even a little dab of hope, I'm all for it. Say you'll fix the XHT, that'll be more than what you're giving us now. -.- Moo Kitty 16:14, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Moo Kitty 15:51, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree. I'm tired of the CR team claiming they want to inform us and then never doing it. I just hope Regina's right in saying that Linsey will update us soon. I could really use some good news about GW1. Karate Jesus 15:35, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, they announced that several months ago. Karate Jesus 15:25, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Nope. I hoped for something other than neglect...but that could just be because I'm foolish. Karate Jesus 15:17, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- You expected something other than neglectful? Moo Kitty 15:16, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- The very fact that they don't already have a proper team to support GW1 is neglectful. Karate Jesus 15:14, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- One more thing then I'm gone. If I was a fanboy, as you claim, I'd come storming onto your page raging and shouting something along the lines of "How dare you (fill in the blank)." — Jon Lupen 14:11, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
(Reset indent) @Iffy, Saying they'll fix the XTH is the same thing they've already been doing - lying. The last thing we need is more "miscommunications" (to put it in Regina's words). Karate Jesus 16:21, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ok then - blatant truth. We don't care about the game. We're working on a sequel, even though we're trying to sell a complete other game (Aion). We've given up total hope, and, hopefully, in 2 years, you'll have even less hope. Because we know exactly what we're doing. Moo Kitty 16:51, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and we care about the in-game economy. We care about it so much we're going to fix things like Shadow Form, Discord, Assassin's Promise, Hundred Blade teams. Yeah. I'd rather be lied to. Moo Kitty 16:55, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

What's up? Moo Kitty 16:07, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Nm. Got the swine flu....yet I'm still at work. You? Karate Jesus 16:09, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Trying to get WoW to run on either VirtualBox or Playonlinux. Any ideas/comments? Why are you at work? You on msn? Will I string more questions? Moo Kitty??
- I'm not on MSN. I feel like crap and don't want to mess with it. I've had the swine flu vaccination, so although I caught the disease, I apparently can't spread it. Which means I have to work. And I honestly don't know how to get WoW to run on either platform. I know PoL has some serious issues with it, but I don't know about virtualbox. I think you're best bet for running WoW on Ubuntu would be one of the commercial Wine systems that cost like $40 (sorry, that's all I can think of). Karate Jesus 16:16, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Feel well. And if pigs think you're their mom, don't kill them. Titani Ertan 16:18, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, for some odd reason I can't even install XP. I got a working CD (I know it works because I installed XP on VB with it), but I can't seem to get it to install cleanly on my HD over-writing Ubuntu. How do I wipe my HD using Ubuntu? Can't you tell them that the vaccination didn't work because you still got it, ergo you might still be able to spread it? Or pay some random buddies $5 to start coughing whenever Mr Doctor shows up? Feel better Mr KJ, I miss your sensual GvG voice. Moo Kitty 16:19, 5 October 2009 (UTC) PS: lol interrupting convo
- PS: try to listen to some random music while fantasizing about skinning your boss in front of his family, making them eat his body parts, one by one. It'll cheer you up.
- My voice is more sensual now. Tbh, I'm at work on my own volition. I'm really far behind from being out all last week and I need to get caught up. Anywho, I really don't know how you're supposed to install XP alongside Ubunutu. I know how to install Ubuntu on a system with XP, but that took me like 3 days to figure out. I figure you just have to partition the drive using Ubuntu and then install it.....but I'm really not sure how to do that backwards. Karate Jesus 16:25, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and I'm the boss, remember? Karate Jesus 16:25, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, apparently there's a shred command to "virginize" a HD (I swear, programmers need to have more sex), so I'll try that once I find a working Ubuntu CD. I'm guessing it's easier to install XP first, then partition and then Ubuntu? How's the family? Moo Kitty 16:27, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, it's definitely easier to do XP, then partition, and then Ubuntu. And you should be able to burn a disk for free (even an iso CD, if you don't have a DvD burner). The wife's good. She's sick too, but not with the swine flue (which cost us $300 to find out), but she's making teh moneyz today while I'm slacking off at work. Karate Jesus 16:29, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

- What's this about? Henchmen? I haven't played in 2 weeks, so... tell me every update that occured, since I'm too lazy to read Anet-talk. Moo Kitty 16:50, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- You remember the henchmen skill bar contest? Well, the rules said that you couldn't use any current meta builds or use builds from any outside sources. However, all the winning submissions were straight from PvX (except one or two). So, Regina and Linsey have been getting HELL for it. And they're also getting all kinds of shit because the builds chosen have serious AI issues (some of the bars have infuse and PR on them....so yea, big problems). Check out Linsey's feedback page if you want to see how bad it got. Or the GWGuru thread. Regina got torn apart on there. Karate Jesus 16:53, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- How did the whole idea of having henchies get through? They knew the AI sucked at certain things (ie Infuse) and were great at others (ie let's get Gwen to camp the prot and spam Tease!). The idea was good, but incorporating it into GW was never going to work. /Sigh. Doesn't meta mean "best synergy with the skills available on my 8 skill bar"? What were they going to do once a big update hits? (ie Smiter's Boon) Another contest with "Let's replace this skill on the henchie bars since they were broken in the first place, but let's not admit that? Or were they going to have henchies have, in essence, 7 skills? Moo Kitty 17:00, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Will they update Henchie bars as often as they update the game (every week, of course, in order to insure balance and fluidity of metas)? Will henchies just stop being run? Why can't they make a {PvE|PvP|Henchmen} version of skills? Moo Kitty 17:12, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- We honestly don't know. Apparently, they "will" update the bars, but probably with the same consistency in which they updated the Zaishen henchmen in HA (i.e. never). Apparently, they can make PvE/PvP henchmen versions (according to Joe Kimmes), but he doesn't want to have to do that. Karate Jesus 17:34, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
