Riven Earth acquired its name from the deep river chasm that was carved by the mighty waterfall in the southeast, and continuing its course towards the northwest. The Maguuma Jungle lies further to the north, separated by mountain ranges and dense forests that have not yet been explored. A variety of creatures can be found here, with the various species of Dinosaurs prowling the southern half (including a den of Raptors), and large spiders making their nests in the southwest and the cliffs to the north. Simians are also found in abundant numbers along the mountain trails and to the north. The Asura have set up the golem foundry just northeast of Rata Sum, and they also have a camp in southwest.

  • The name 'Riven Earth' may be infact an anagram for 'Thrive Near' - combined with other locations such as 'Rata Sum' (Mursaat), an intentional message could be read out.
  • Quests that influence the spawns in this area:
  • Interactive objects
  • After completing Genius Operated Living Enchanted Manifestation, players may talk with Sokka to obtain an Asuran Beacon, which can be dropped to create a G.O.L.E.M. 1.0 to aid them.
  • After completion of the Eye of the North storyline, the small number of Destroyers in the north are actually separated into two hostile groups that will fight each other.
  • This is a popular spot for farming Asura reputation due to the large concentration of Raptor Nestlings in a cave close to the entrance. See Guide to farming Asura reputation points
  • Near the center, towards the north, there is a circle of 8 Venomweavers that surround a Ceratadon corpse that perform a repeated animation sequence.
  • Vanquisher runs of this area without active quests yielded roughly 285 foes or so. Discounting quest influences, it has been reported to range from 260 to 299.
    • When engaging dinosaurs in hard mode (except Raptors), if you forget to spread out, their area damage will easily kill bunched up heroes and henchmen. Ceratadons particularly must be avoided at melee range due to their deadly spells.
    • Avoid the forested area west of the Golem Foundry as there are only one or hidden spider groups there. There are also hidden spider groups right before reaching Gallow Nooseknitter, so move slowly.
    • Talk to Sokka to gain a dervish ally.
