Rant[edit]

no, you just make 50 battlecruisers in 20 mins thats all. --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 21:46, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

You resign when there are two or more monks in the same team with you in RA. You resign when there are no monks with you in RA. You leave the game after the round is over if people don't want to resign or there are idiots on your team. You play in korean districts because people generally follow the abovementioned accepted guidelines to RA, thus saving everyone's time. The two monks did the right thing by resigning because one ele and one ranger tend NOT to outpressure any team with a half-decent monk. You would have saved a lot of time by resigning with them.Pika Fan 21:56, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

No, YOU resign when there are two or more monks in RA. I'm not a shit player, so I actually play the game. I only resign when I know I've lost. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 22:59, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
No, CONSIDERATE people resign when there are two or more monks in RA because dragging each match to tiebreaker is just a waste of everyone's time and achieves little. Seeing as you are not, I will just leave it at that. Pika Fan 07:54, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
I was on three three-monk teams in a row yesterday. Two got dragged to tiebreaker because the non-monk wouldn't resign (the A/D thought he could solo the other party?), both other monks in the third game raged. Most RA players aren't considerate, sadly. =/

Not to be rude, but I think Dark Morphon has a point. I've been doing ra cause of the bonus weekend and nothing like this has happened yet. Again, I'm not trying to be rude, but if you hate the game this much, why are you still playing? TO flame ANET? Cause they don't care.. Sentry007 User Sentry007 sig.png 16:35, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
You probably haven't run into these situations because you play with scrubs in american districts. Not to be rude, but all of this happened. Why would I write something like this and make it up? If I was going to make up a story, I could do a better job than this. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 07:38, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Sure, some of these things happen at times. But they don't happen as much as you're trying to say. I've played RA recently and encountered none of these problems. If that means I'm playing with American scrubs, then I'd rather do so than playing with people that run only gimmicky builds. Dark Morphon 15:18, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

RoM[edit]

It's the same all across MMORPG: the healer gets blames without consideration of what he did/does. Of course, it's not the healer's fault about... almost anytime. People should learn to have a brain. Titani User Titani Ertan Sig2.jpg Ertan {{Snappy the Turtle}} 21:33, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

I don't see why this goes under unfair really. It's more like "noobs that blame others for their failures." Chain stunning is funny too. Wizard 101 had the same problem in PvP where the stuns were mostly AoE and did wtfbigdomages. I tank in WoW. I never blame the healer. Because of that, I rarely have troubles finding the other half of the party (the healer). As it turns out, sometimes the tank makes mistakes. If they blame the healer, they will fail to learn. StatMan 03:08, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Your comment about Holy Aura and Ether Prism reminded me of what I consider the most significant balance mistake in the history of Guild Wars: using limited skill bar space as a balancing factor. A skill with a 5 minute cooldown would need to be obscenely powerful to be worth the opportunity cost of tying up 1/8 of your skill bar, and it's difficult to balance skills with narrow niches such as countering shouts or ritualists against skills with broadly applicable niches such as damage, healing or interruption. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 06:02, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I agree with that. The only reason why a huge cooldown works as a balancing factor, is if there is no limit to the amount of skills you can bring. But I'm sure Shard knew that...145.94.74.23 06:25, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Y'know, that's interesting, because I find that limited skill slots adds life to the game and makes (or at least made, before only 40-50 skills were viable) finding new builds an actually important part of playing. But like Auron once told me, since we can only carry around 8 skills instead of 12-15, there's no room (for example) on an ele bar to bring both Make Haste and Song of Concentration. Perhaps the design would have worked better if we had, say, 10 skills, two from column A (elites or equivalent), five from column B (staple skills), three from column C (niche skills), and a "free" slot for a res? (Default to res sig, but could be replaced by any other res skill, or something like that.) Obviously, numbers would need tweaking here and there, but I'm interested as to thoughts on the general idea. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 06:36, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I always thought of having 9 skill slots. The extra skill slot is for the Build Wars you never encounter or the shittiest skills that you never find room for. Titani User Titani Ertan Sig2.jpg Ertan {{Snappy the Turtle}} 06:38, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

HB[edit]

So true. The only time I've had fun in HB was exploiting a hero AI bug where when under the effects of Visions of Regret + Backfire spellcaster heroes would refuse to use any spell (and use anything else so sparingly it hardly matters) even if they had tons of hex removal or w/e by using 2 VoR + Backfire/Empathy Mes/War heroes with Frenzied Defense, standard HB WoH Monk, and I was a Mind Blast ele. At the time, the most popular setup was 2 Monk heroes with Assassin leads (back when SoH was good), so I'd just micro the VoR mes's each on different Monk heroes, and then spam the Mind Blast bar skills on the Monk heroes while they just stand there and take it like idiots. The only reason it was fun is because most random people don't micro so they just wonder WHY AM I SUDDENLY NOT GETTING HEALED???? and also because I actually fought instead of capped in Hero Battles. So let me get this straight... the whole point of the first Dhuum stages is for your players to die and then get a "I got a Super Metroid for a Pet" /slash/ "Jumping off a tower in COD4" /slash/ "I'm Exhausted now, I WIN"** TACTIC...?? (**-from pretty much every major battle ever, Al'a Bleach/Naruto animus) --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 23:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Basically yeah. Completely defeats the purpose of character classes, party formation, skills and builds. I refused to do it like that, and I was the only person in our party who didn't die and become a spirit...of course I was a paragon, and that is like cheating, but still...--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 23:25, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
On an unrelated note, the Shiro fight has degenerated to being soloable by a sin and only ever run by such. Is that what you want Underworld to become, Shard? Oh, wait. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 14:55, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Making each class have different skills would suck just as much, because as you know, Anet fails at balancing so ofc a few classes will have complete shit skills while the others are good to go and more desirable. Class discrimination much?--98.238.169.189 19:11, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
That reminds me of the one thing I don't like about FF6/FF3 (in the US on SNES for those who don't know). If you've played it then you are aware that at the start, only 2 characters--Celes and Terra--can use magic. The other characters all have special skills and abilities (Sabin has his blitz attacks, Locke can steal, Mog can dance/sing like a bard) but mid way through, all of the characters can learn magic from Espers and eventially, magic is all you will use (4 characters casting Ultima basically pwns everything) and that made me sad playing it, where as in FF4/2 Rydia and Rosa played certain party roles as casters, Kain and Cecil as melee, and god knows I did use all of their various skills or in FF3 the job system let you determine what kind of character you wanted to make them be (red mage, thief, white mage) which was brilliant fun. And thats the fun of RPGs--each class having certain abilities that you cater to for one reason or another. GW has slowly become uniform with the stupidity of PvE skills where choosing your character class is only cosmetic. I think for GW2 they should learn the lesson and just not bother making classes. Make everyone the same, just customizable by appearance and gender, that way I don't think I'm playing something I'm not. --*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 19:34, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, ideally, the point of having classes is so team work can be executed--you know, just like in sports how each person does something that contributes to over all tactics and that person's strengths. But then again, that makes sense.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 19:44, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Choosing my class is only cosmetic? Every class can spam SY + TNTF now? -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 23:47, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
When we did UW the other night we were spamming 3 or 4 copies of save yourself. My para had it, Shard had it, Adrin's sin had it and Qaletaqa had it, so pretty much, yes.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 23:55, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
With SY at least, yeah, any weapon-using class can easily spam it. TNtF works just fine on a non-para since you only need to cover the downtime of when the para's copy is recharging. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 00:01, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
You're forgetting Strago; I think Lore definitely counts as magic. Also, when you hit for 9999 in Melee too, casting Ultima is sort of pointless unless there's more than one foe (which most bosses were not) - you'd get, uh, three casts at most per turn using Quicken? Compared to at least 4 with melee... Vili 点 User talk:Vili 00:01, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Usually you are fighing multiple enemies...and that spell destroys bosses! Omg. I like the SNES Insvsible + X-Zone auto kill trick the best myself. That was epic.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 00:13, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, he was annoying. My favorite area is the Cult Tower...omg, that place was scary, and I thought it would just go on and on and on, I'd never reach the top. My favorite boss was the painting at the art dealer's house. The opera was pretty cool too. When I play it now, I don't cheat anymore, its more fun that way.--*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 00:20, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
I was bad and didn't have Life-3 for the Cultist's Tower, so all of my party would have died from Ultima. So, instead of fighting the conventional way, I just kept casting Rasp to hurt his MP (he has like 2 million or something crazy). All enemies in Cultist's Tower die when they reach 0 MP...so...he died and tried to cast Ultima, but failed. It was worth it. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 01:40, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

This is what happens when Hideo Kojima begs you to put his character in the game. --Orry 15:28, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere where they stated they weren't going to put alot of balance in the game, but the real playstyle of the characters. So that kinda sucks though. InfestedHydralisk 16:29, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
The "real playstyle" of Snake is to run around in the shadows and subdue enemies as quietly and efficiently as possible, often without killing them. So that isn't anything like what Snake does in Brawl where he just owns everyone. Playing like that in any Metal Gear game is a very easy way to get yourself killed. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 17:56, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes, infested is correct. They admitted they weren't trying to make it a tournament-quality game, but they forgot that people are gonna make tournaments out of the game anyway. Snake isn't overpowered enough that choosing him makes you win right away - he does take a lot of time and effort to master - but he is the best character in terms of range, damage, knockback, and survivability when you know how to use him. They still could have done a better job balancing him. I mean, how terrible do you have to be to let this slip into the game? Did you know his up-tilt also goes through cliffs? Most of his other attacks also have retarded hitboxes. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 02:05, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Wow, I didn't know the range for that attack was that big. InfestedHydralisk 14:58, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Against some foes that's Snake's best edgeguard. Vili 点 User talk:Vili
I Totally agree with everything you said about brawl. I play my little brother on occasion, I beat him nearly every time. Then he decides to choose meta knight. I get raped.

No complaints about Zelda? I'm surprised. Teleporting combined with balls of doom is about as piss broken as you can get, if I were to take a stance. ··· Danny Pew Pew 09:17, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Except that teleport is one of the worst recoveries in the game. Irritating to people who guard by actually hanging on ledges, but it's such a bitch to aim properly + leaves you way too vulnerable should you miss a ledge. It also kills all your drift so you fall nearly straight vertical. Moreover, I think any advantages from the Din's Fire of Doom are cancelled out by the fact that despite being a "tall" character, Zelda is pretty light and easy to knock around. Oh, and her ftilt and utilt take forever, though they are fairly powerful. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 17:19, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Zelda's teleport is one of the worst recoveries in the game. If you land on the ground, or far enough from a ledge that you don't grab it instantly, it's instant death against anybody who knows what they're doing. Her balls of fire aren't that great, you just airdodge/shield them and get close to her. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 21:13, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
is the game all it's cracked up to be? I think some obscure family member bought me a wii for Christmas in 2008. for some reason people think I actually enjoy all these video games. if it's worth getting maybe I'll get a copy off tpb. –Jette 21:18, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Only if you have other people to play with. It's pretty boring solo. No sex jokes please. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 21:23, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
