Yes Sunjiang District

"Once a business district, this area was converted into living quarters after the Jade Wind obliterated much of the countryside. As flocks of refugees made there way into Kaineng City, the Celestial Ministry sent them to Sunjiang District, where they were assigned to a street block and allowed to build a 10-foot-by-10-foot living space."

— In-game description for Sunjiang District

Reading the surrounding text, shouldn't "there" be "their"? Just a thought. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:86.134.244.154 (talk).

You're correct! Good eye. We've entered a bug on this. Thanks! David Wilson 18:16, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

No NPC: Xunlai Agent

Error: Her dialogue to players says, "You've already upgraded your storage as much as you can in game. If you wish to purchase more upgrades, please visit our In-Game Store or NCsoft Store "
Should be: "You've already upgraded your storage as much as you can in-game. If you wish to purchase more upgrades, please visit our In-Game Store or NCsoft Store "
Additional info: Both should either be "in-game" or "in game." Given that the store name is set in stone, I would guess that "in-game" is the more desireable option.

--User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 20:36, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
The phrase "in game" should only be hyphenated when preceding a noun. It's a matter of conditional syntax rather than the consistency of terminology, so this is correct as is. Thanks for bringing it up! David Wilson 20:49, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Ah, my mistake. Thank you for the clarification! I always thought it looked a bit wierd, hence why I reported it xD --User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 21:02, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

No Mission: Moddok Crevice

Error: By the time Dunkoro says "Wait a second. Notice how the path here is worn? See those footprints in the mud over there? It looks like a patrol comes through here on a fairly regular basis. Perhaps we should conceal ourselves. I spotted a waterfall to the west that should drown out any noise we make nicely.", it could be too late to follow the suggestion.
Should be: (omitted due to the suggestion freeze)
Additional info: It's possible that the bonus objective notification window is delaying Dunkoro's dialogue.
User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 01:23, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Can you give some additional information on this? To the best of my ability to reproduce this, if you're not moving too quickly this works OK, but if you go too fast, many of the objectives can appear after the fact. It seems like maybe you were just going faster than Dunkoro can think. :) This is more of a system issue than a text bug, I think, and it may not be something we can really improve on, but with more information we may look into this some more. Thanks! David Wilson 19:34, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

No Quest: Blood And Smoke

Error: Initial dialogue: "Although I am loathe to do so, it may be time to turn to...alternate sources of information"
Should be: "Although I am loath to do so, it may be time to turn to...alternate sources of information"
Additional info: Should be "loath" (adjective meaning reluctant/unwilling) rather than "loathe" (transitive verb meaning 'to hate')

--Redmond (talk) 12:22, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
You make a good argument, to be sure. However, "loathe" is listed as a variant of the adjective "loath" in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. The use of the "loathe" variant in this instance was at the writer's discretion, an aesthetic choice on their part attempting to influence the way the line sounded when read. Thanks for bringing this up, though, and I look forward to seeing more posts of this nature in the future. Thanks! David Wilson 18:49, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

No NPC: Kormir

Error: After completing the Nightfall Tutorial Quest, she tells players "Some skill descriptions contain green numbers. Raising the attribute related to that skill will increase the green numbers in the description." as the quest reward causes you to gain a level.
Should be: "Some skill descriptions contain green numbers. Raising the attribute related to that skill will change the green numbers in the description."
Additional info: This is seen in skills like Armor of Earth where increasing a linked attribute actually decreases said green numbers; other examples include Rend Enchantments, Expunge Enchantments, Dark Apostasy, Elemental Resistance, Earthbind, Signet of Binding, Shelter, Mantra of Resolve, Calculated Risk, Power Return, Keystone Signet, Angelic Protection, Shove, Triple Shot, Auspicious Incantation , Shivers of Dread, and Spinal Shivers.

--User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 22:03, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
I see your point, but the intent was to indicate that increasing the attribute will make the skill better. As most of the skills available early on, when this text would be seen, do not have numbers that decrease as the attribute they're linked to increases, this doesn't seem like an error so much as an oversimplified explanation. I think changing "increase" to "change" may have more potential to cause confusion with new players, as it lacks the direct correlation to making the skill better. Unless a strong case is made for this change, I think it will remain as is. Thanks for bringing it up, it was a good observation! David Wilson 21:49, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm... The reason I brought it up, ironically, is the same reason given for not changing it: that it would potentially confuse new players. Admittedly, perhaps simply changing the word "increase" to "change" would also confuse new players, but it is more factually accurate to the game and won't result in the "what? she lied to me! what's going on?" moment. Maybe a changing it to something like "Raising the attribute related to that skill will change the green numbers in the description, thus making the skill more powerful." This way, it's compltetly factual (instead of mostly factual) and also completely idiot-proof. Albeit, the word "thus" might be a little awkward, but I have faith in the writing team to find a way to make it work :D Thoughts? Still no good?--User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 02:11, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Your suggestion isn't bad, but I'm still of the opinion that this is OK as is. Since new players won't have access to any skills that contradict this information (all of the Nightfall starting skills are increasing numbers), it shouldn't be confusing to players at the point the text is delivered. As this is part of the tutorial, it seems like introducing a concept that cannot be demonstrated with what is currently available is less desirable than displaying a mechanic that is more involved than it appears early on. By the time skills that do use the "attribute up, green number down" mechanic are available, I believe that users generally have a good impression of how the attribute/skill relationship works. Unless this is actually causing confusion to people, it doesn't seem like a problem. If you have evidence to the contrary, please let us know. Thanks! David Wilson 21:43, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
I always thought is was meant to say "improve". Then it would be clear that the skill gets better with more attributes spent, without being technically wrong. --Lensor (talk) 10:47, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Alrighty David :D Thanks for your explanations. They make a good deal of sense. Feel free to red-X this one if you want to. --User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 18:09, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Will do. I'd much rather discuss the potential of an issue than just shoot it down anyway. Thanks for bringing it up! David Wilson 18:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes Item: Gold

Error: When picking up two seperate piles of gold coins in the two-action queue, the following dialogue appears: "You pick up X Gold Coins. You pick up X gold."
Should be: "You pick up X Gold Coins. You pick up X Gold Coins."
Additional info: Gold Coins Bug.jpg

--User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 03:53, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Can you provide more information on how to reproduce this issue? I have been unable to cause this to occur so far. David Wilson 17:55, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Sure. I had just made a new paragon and was in Island of Shehkah. There's that point during the tutorial where you encouter three (seperate) Corsair Spies, each of which drop two piles of 2 gold coins each. When you pick them both up at the same time (in the two-action queue used by guild wars), you get the dialogue which I posted. I did it twice just to be sure that I wasn't seeing things, and it still happened. hope that helps! --User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 18:26, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
The message "You pick up X Gold Coins" where X is greater than 1 appears when you happen to pick the coins you've dropped yourself on the ground. I have the message "You pick X gold" in pre-searing from low level foes as well (ie outside of Fort Ranik just now). Just a test done right now for both of the cases, while sneaking in pre. Davor Belegnaur 19:07, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I've noticed that the only time I can get this bug to occur is also when I'm in my party alone 0.o Otherwise it says "Your party shares X gold." Perhaps it's the "You pick up X Gold Coins" which is the bugged text? I dunno. Either way, yeah, thanks for your observations :D --User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 19:37, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the help! I've gotten this to repro now. We've entered it into our database. Thanks for reporting it! David Wilson 00:01, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

No Skill:Savannah Heat nonsensical description.

Error: Says: [...] and an additional X fire damage for each second this Spell has been in effect [...]
Should be:[...] and an additional X fire damage for each second a Spell has been in effect [...]
Additional info: none

While I admit the wording may seem a bit unclear at first, this description is accurate. Savannah Heat does an additional X fire damage for each second that Savannah Heat has been in effect. So, saying "this spell" is accurate, as the spell simply builds upon itself, rather than enhancing another spell or requiring another spell to increase its damage. I hope that helps clarify the meaning of this spell's description. Thanks! David Wilson 15:58, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes NPC: Kasha Blackblood

Error: misspelling in "Greetings. I am Kasha Blackblood. I train Necromancer aprentices in the art of Blood Magic; that is, stealing Health from enemies to feed oneself."
Should be: apprentices
Additional info: This is in the dialogue while she's in Green Hills County

This is being addressed. Thanks for reporting this to us! David Wilson 21:54, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes Quest: Random Arena (Zaishen quest)

Error: Objectives: "Win 5 battles in Random Arena. *BONUS* Win 5 in a row in Random Arena. *BONUS* Win 15 battles in Random Arena." Zaishen Combat signpost: "Prove your prowess and return to Zehnchu with at least 5 victories to show that there's more than luck on your side."
Should be: Objectives: "Win 3 battles in Random Arena. *BONUS* Win 5 in a row in Random Arena. *BONUS* Win 9 battles in Random Arena." Zaishen Combat: "Prove your prowess and return to Zehnchu with at least 3 victories to show that there's more than luck on your side."
Additional info: The number of wins required were reduced in the June 18, 2009 update, but the text was not updated to match the change.
