Hero Usage[edit]

  • Heroes do not use Shelter in response to other party members taking damage or entering combat. Rather, they use Shelter when the hero itself has entered combat or aggroed an enemy.

Notes[edit]

  • This skill creates a Spirit of Shelter at the user's location and removes any previous allied Spirit of Shelter.
  • Often used with Displacement and Union to provide superior damage reduction.
    • Shelter and Union's effects are applied in the order they're created. For maximum damage reduction, always cast Shelter before Union.
  • If Protective Spirit is applied on a target before Shelter is cast, the spirit does not lose health when the target would have taken high damage.
Anomaly Anomaly.Armor of Unfeeling will reduce the health loss of this spirit caused by its damage mitigation effect.
Anomaly Anomaly.While skill descriptions state "attacks", damage from spells and signets is also reduced.
Anomaly Anomaly.Shelter's effect persists briefly after it prevents damage in a way that would have killed it (video).

Trivia[edit]

  • The long version of this skill states that the spirit "lasts .... seconds" while most binding rituals read "dies after ....seconds."
  • The PvE and PvP versions of this skill have different names in French:
    • "Refuge" (which translates to "shelter") in PvE
    • "Protection" (which translates to "protection") in PvP
