Defenders of Draconis is a PvE-oriented guild comprised of players from the United States and Europe who play primarily on North America servers. Each member of the Guild brings their own particular specialty to the team, allowing the Guild access to a variety of team builds suitable for any situation. This flexibility allows the Defenders of Draconis to switch from one area to another seamlessly and almost effortlessly. Each member of the Guild has finished at least one campaign on one character, but many have completed most, if not all, of the campaigns several times over.

More recently, members of the guild have begun taking up the sword of PvP and are attempting to learn how to better play their classes against human intelligence that (purportedly) thinks and reacts better than the PvE AI. They are meeting with differing success, and some have discovered the sheer joy and utility of playing a Mesmer in PvE, while others have struggled to make their PvE Warrior useful for more than corpse exploitation.

As Guild Wars 2 draws ever nearer, the Guild faces an uncertain future, as members debate whether to remain in Guild Wars or move on to the new vistas awaiting them in Guild Wars 2. Time will tell, but one thing is certain: Guild Wars 2's story as it's currently understood might require another look at the Guild's name.

Spoiler alert: The following text contains spoilers relating to the story of Guild Wars.

A Message from the Guild Leader

Utterly unaware of the fact that Guild Wars 2 was going to be all about laying the smackdown on a bunch of dragons, the Defenders of Draconis Guild was founded early in the life of Guild Wars, back in the days when that was all it was known as. You kids today with your Prophecies and your Factions and your Nightfall heroes just don't know how good you got it. We agonized and theorized and hoped and worried over the fate of Gwen and grieved when we met her mother in the Underworld. Why, in our day, we had to fight the Lich with people, not a bunch of wussy Heroes. We had to walk uphill, both ways, through the Shiverpeaks to Droknar's Forge, in low level armor, and we liked it! You paid 5K or more for a run, and you lived with it! Why, Alesia was the best we could hope for in Healing monks! Lina? Are you serious? What good was a Protection monk when Alesia was too busy healing Little Thom instead of the player doing all the work?

Ahem. Sorry about that. We try not to let her out too often, for just that reason.

Recruitment

We don't actively recruit; we're not a "warm-body principle" guild. We'd much rather have the kind of people in our guild who are in game to play around, not work. We believe that the purpose of a game is entertainment - fun! If you're working at having fun, you're doing it wrong.

The guild is comprised of some real-world friends and some Internet chums who've never met each other aside from in Teamspeak. Thus, if you're a fun loving, casual, relaxed person with an easygoing style and a quirky sense of humor, if you can dish it out as well as take it in the playful, harmless fashion in which it's intended, and if you're not afraid to teach as well as learn, then look up any of the Guild officers (listed below) in-game. We'll be happy to speak with you, and decide together whether the Defenders of Draconis is right for you, and vice-versa.
