changing usernames

Someone keeps changing my username and i cant log in to my account.I was wondering if you could change my username back to what it was and block the account from other people or something...can you? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Imohtep (talk).

Are you talking about your account on the wiki? Or your in-game account? Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 01:17, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Seems to be a good place to add my question: Is it possible to change the user name? When I signed up here, I didn't think I'll stay for long, so I chose my initials as name. By now I'd rather use my in-game name. Is there a way to rename, or should I simply abandon this name and re-register? I don't mind either way. --Cp 21:26, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Usernames can't be changed unfortunately. If you really want a different name, register a new account and redirect your old account's user page and user talk page to your new one. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 21:28, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

I think the Proph/Factions/NF equivalent would be the Mission Lists... EotN is special in the sense that it really doesn't have Missions, so it got a list of Primary Quests instead. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 03:27, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm never sure where to put stuff like this, it is a question about the wiki so here goes. Is anyone else getting 500 errors on Gaile's Gw2 suggestions page? I'm not having troubles with any other pages (browser Firebox 2.0.0.11 too on XPPro). It could be connection based but the message is "Internal Server Error" which to my mind rules that one out. The only other time I've seen the problem is when vandals were making pages deliberately large to try and break the wiki. --Aspectacle 23:35, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. --Larry Nelson

Edit: This got moved to game help, but it's not a game question. I want to know how to read the charts on the Wiki.

It wasn't moved. And those numbers are the level of the creature. Ridgeback Skales are seen with many different levels in many places. And the ones in parentheses are the Hard Mode levels. Calor Talk 17:03, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Something like "4, 11" means that creature can be found at level 4 and 11. If it is "4...11", it means that creature is found from level 4 to level 11. I know that but i cant get it right, when I try to move something to another page it says that some page already exists like that...--The Forsaken One 21:49, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
When moving, just put the target destination at the "To new title" box. By example, if moving the guild page "Waka Waka" to the proper namespace, in that box you will have to enter "Guild:Waka Waka". Also, if the target page already exists, you will not be able to move it, so you will have to check first (may need to copy/paste instead of moving in that case).--Fighterdoken 21:53, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Remember that after you move a page, you should make sure that all pages that link to the page you moved now link to the new page. Although the old page will be a redirect, it is better to have them link direction to the new page. There's a button on the sidebar called "what links here" that should help you with that. After you've done that, a delete tag on the old page is friendly. The tag is {{delete|insert reason for proposed deletion here}} :P MiraLantis 21:58, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Are external links against wiki policy?

Hi there. I recently tidied up my guilds wiki page Guild:Passionate Kiss Of Nosferatu. Although people are happy with the new Guild page, someone in our alliance said that it's against wiki policy to include a link to our Forum. Also, much to my horror, they went on to say the page might be deleted because of it (they felt quite strongly about it!) and they said it was against wiki policy to put ANY external links on a guild page.

Someone emailed me the policy notes, and said wiki encourage guilds to include their forum link (and even provide the guild template to do so) but the person from my alliance who originally disagreed would prefer to see the written evidence himself, hence I thought I would ask the question here for all to see.

Can you please confirm, once and for all, if it is ok/not ok to put a link to a guilds forum on their guild page? --Angel 13:09, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Guild Wars Wiki:Guild pages has nothing about it either way, it should be fine RT | Talk 13:13, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
External links are fine, and a guild page would never be deleted because of an external link. If it was contested as inappropriate, it would be discussed or the link simply removed, but the guild page would not be deleted. - anja talk 13:16, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) It is fine for you to include an external link to your guild's forum on your guild page here. However having 4 links may be going over the top slightly. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 13:17, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your very prompt replies! I feel slightly better now. I don't want to be doing anything that's against policy on our guild site. I will add though, the only reason I have 4 links is...well...because I'm too incompetent to work out how to get the image saying "The Kiss Forum" to link straight to the forum lol. One thing at a time though...I'll remove a couple of the links to reduce it down to 2.--Angel 13:29, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Confused on creating my guilds page on your site

Greetings, I have read through the wiki's guidlines and such on creating the site for my guild, but I am confused. Also after I signed up for the site, the example boxes for each line of info were no longer present. Sorry if I am simply overlooking the stuff, but I am lost.DartTheEternal 12:10, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Have you already created the page, and are just trying to edit it? Or do you still need to create the page? If the former, please give us a link to the page (or just tell us your guild name). If the latter, you can create the page quickly and easily by simply typing "http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild:Your Guild Name Here" without quotes (make sure to change the guild name) into your browser's address bar, and then following the instructions from there. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 22:59, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Another easy way to make the page (or find it, if it's already been made) is to get it from in-game; press F10 for the Help menu, and look for your guild in the Guilds section. Clicking that should go right to the correct guild page, weather it's been created or not. And like Aiiane said, if you've already made the page, give us a link, plenty of users would be happy to help out. --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 01:36, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I've created the page for you at Guild:Shiverpeak Construction Company. Essentially, the main thing you need to know is that anything inside <!-- and --> markers is a "comment", that is, will not show up on the page. Anything you want to actually show up should not be inside any pair of those markers. I've filled in your guild's tag in the infobox section, so you can see where to put other bits of that info. I was working through articles in Category:Cleanup when I came accross this guy. I've had a look around google, and other fansites, but can only find a tiny bit of information about him. Apparently you can cap Grenth's Balance off him, and he's a Forgotten. That's all, though. GuildWiki has nothing, which leads me to believe he was removed from the game. Thoughts? Oh! I see. You didn't merge all your accounts into one account? When you add an access key, you can actually add it to an existing account. Meaning, you could have Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and EotN all on one account instead of separately. See the "Account" section of your FAQ. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 02:19, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Shouldn't Eye of the North be under the same e-mail as one of the other games? It's an expansion, not a stand-alone game, I don't think it's possible to have it installed as a seperate account... --User Jioruji Derako logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
It could be the Prophecies + EotN packs though. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 13:46, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I tried adding my Nightfall account to one of my other accounts but it says that the access code is in use...Is there any way I can merge all of my accounts???--208.69.214.97 00:50, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

If you created the account with the new code not too long ago, you may have luck trying to contact support and explaining that you made a mistake while entering the code. If the accounts are old aready, you will more than likely be out of luck.--Fighterdoken 04:38, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
As stated in the FAQ, you cannot merge accounts once the access code has been activated. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 12:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Well that blows. So wat do I do when I get Factions???Do I create a fake address???Is there any way I can delete accounts and reinstall them under one address???--208.69.214.97 23:41, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Just use the E-mail address for the account you want to add it to. And no. Calor Talk 23:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

You can see how they did it by looking at their wiki code (click edit, but don't save it). If you're new to wiki code, try starting from Help:Editing. You might also want to google up some resources for HTML and CSS if you're not familiar with them. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 14:09, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
