Echoing Banishment

Shiro seems to prefer banishing warriors and elementalists over other classes. Has anyone else seen this? -- 121.44.33.22 12:20, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Just did it a couple more times, and he did start banishing monks as well (which made the mission pretty much impossible). However, he never banished heroes, only henchies. Can anyone confirm that he does banish heroes? -- 121.44.33.22 13:09, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
He doesn't banish heroes. However hencies can get the 'Celestial' skills, so it's a trade-off. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 13:13, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, when I first finished the campaign about a month ago, he didn't banish heroes then either. However, the article says that an update changed things so that heroes are liable to be banished. Looks like that's an error; I'll edit the article to correct that. -- 121.44.33.22 15:47, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Did this a few dozen times today trying for masters on a monk primary. He banished mo 9 times/2 monks per party, warrior 0 times/ 2 warriors per party, assassin 1 time/1 assassin per party, ele 1 time/2 eles per party, ranger 4 times/1 ranger per party. Unfortunately I did not keep track of how many times I went. 1 human player - monk primary, 1 hero monk, 1 hero elementalist, one hero warrior. All the others were hench. Not quite helpful enough to be figured out and cited in the article, but at least it's a bit of curiousity research. MiraLantis 11:22, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Interesting. Just to confirm, you had 1 human monk, 1 hero monk, all heroes/henchies, and no other monks? And you and/or the hero still got banished? That would imply that he either banishes sole human players, or heroes, or both, contrary to what the article says. -- 166.120.202.204 04:02, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
He didn't banish me, he banished the monk hero. So yes, he banished a hero. MiraLantis 23:18, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
I just tested this. Took myself (War/Mes) and Dunkoro, Tahlkora and Ogden in, so it was just 3 monks and 1 human player (no henchies). In 10 minutes of fighting, he didn't banish anybody. Then I added 4 henchies (Kai Ying, Devona, Lukas and Zho) and he repeatedly banished Kai Ying (and nobody else). If there is a trigger for banishing heroes, beats me what it is. -- 121.44.83.214 17:06, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I took two humans (W and Mo), two heroes (Me and N)... every time Shiro banished the Monk. Every time the bound monk died, Shiro instantly re-banished the Monk. It's really rather annoying since it's my Warrior who wants to map the banishment area. Grrrr. I wondered if keeping the monk well out of range would help the warrior get banished... Well, no - he didn't banish anyone... but the second the monk ran into range *phoom* off she went to banishment island. Never thought that Cartography would be the reason I came to hate Shiro. FWIW, when I was trying with henchies also, Shiro always seemed to banish Kai Ying, but I didn't do any real testing of that -- Splodge of Cat 17:11, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Echo Chaining strategy

The echo chaining strategy doesn't work, because Arcane Echo applies to spells, and Celestial Storm is a skill. Only the elite Echo will work.

See the 2nd section of echo chaining. -- 121.44.83.214 14:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
I think what the IP above is saying is that with you echo the elite echo, and not celestial storm... because then you can arcane echo (elite) Celestial storm twice. MiraLantis 23:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Redirect

I am redirecting Imperial Sanctum (explorable area) here because this mission has no explorable area. Shard 04:52, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Exploration & how is it possible?

As i understand it i need to be bannished to get this area explored but after 2 hours of fighting he will not banish me :D anyone got any tips? or is there another way to explore this area. "EDIT" Signed T1Cybernetic 11:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

What profession are you?could maybe try changing second profession to see if that helps. If going with hero/hench try going with people. My warrior and monk always seem to get banished a lot when I do it, my warrior got banished about 10 times in 1 run lol.--Dan Mocha 09:13, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
I tried and tried and for some reason almost everyone in my team got banished lots of times but not me :D until finaly after loosing count of attempts in a hard mode run he banished me and i got the exploration i needed :) needless to say i am happy :p i still dont know what was wrong though, must have been a little unlucky i guess. T1Cybernetic 11:58, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
You should just take another person and heroes, if you get banished, hooray, if your friend gets banished, they should die so they teleport back and Shiro will banish you.84.92.16.13 12:43, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Try doing this with several people: I attempted this several times with h/h and no luck. Afterwards, I joined a random pug and got banished 4 times in 1 mish.

Banish Zones?

My wife and I did the banish trick for exploration, but the complete map here on the wiki shows that there are something like 5 banish areas but we only end up in the top left. Any ideas as to how to get to the rest of the area? Stuck at 96.8% explored [Rav]

Warrior Strategy I think it is easier to take a ranger henchmen who can interrupt impossible odds one time and has celestial stance when the interrupt isn't done, instead of one necromancer henchmen. For myself, that worked better.

I used the blood and retualist henchmen with succes, after trying a lot of time with the two necro's. Gollomotors 23:53, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Hero/Henching

What I found was very, very effective (after trying multiple different builds) is just one thing. Spoil Victor. I used Olias (and I think it works with just about any normal party), and keep having him spam SV. Shiro just goes down. Quickly.

Yes, it works. It can kill Shiro in less than 5 minutes. I took a Mesmer hero with Spoil Victor, Empathy and health loss skills. The other two heroes were a Monk and a healing Ritualist, I myself took a Channeling build with Ursan as an elite. For henchies I only took Warriors and Rangers since I dont want him spawning a E that can deals 210 armor ignoring damage or a Spell Breaker Monk. In less than 5 minutes he was out. If you have only Factions, you are going to have trouble or you may not a have chance in the world to kill him.--ShadowFog 17:58, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

With the above strategy you can also try perma-blinding him when he uses Impossible Odds (I used Blinding Flash, but I'm sure other skills work, too).

I felt like doing a little shiro butt-kicking and worked out a way to get shiro by yourself on my necro. I don't know if I was just lucky or if it really works, but you guys can give it a try. Also this was used in normal mode.

Necromancer/anything - 12 Soul Reaping, 12 Curses. (It is prefered that you have 16 Curses)- Spiteful Spirit, Reckless Haste, Insidious Parasite, Star Servant (Recieved by Kuunivang), Enfeeble, Weaken Armor , Resurrection Signet

Heroes:

Ritualist - 11 Restoration Magic (Prefered 12), 11 Channeling Magic (prefered 13), 8 Spawning Power (Prefered 9). - Caretaker's Charge, Nightmare Weapon, Wielder's Boon, Weapon of Warding, Essence Strike, Protective Was Kaolai, Ancestor's Rage, Bloodsong.

Monk - 12 Smiting Prayers, 12 Divine Favor. - Smite Condition, Smite Hex, Shield of Judgment, Reversal of Damage. Judge's Intervention, Judge's Insight, Smiter's Boon, Zealot's Fire.

Ranger - 11 Wilderness, 10 Marksmanship, 10 Expertise. - Burning Arrow, Lightning Reflexes, Dust Trap, Favorable Winds, Troll Unguent, Poison Tip Signet, Barbed Arrows, Renew Life.

Henchmen - Sister Tai [Healer Henchman], Redemptor Karl [Protection Henchman], Brutus [Blood Henchman], Sheena [Vile Henchman],

1:48 Master in Normal Mode: (If you are not a Ritualist put one where I had the Elementalist.)

Self: Ritualist with LIFE
Hero1: Dervish/Warrior with WILD THROW
Hero2: Mesmer with EMPATHY
Hero3: Elementalist
Henchmen: Devona, Lukas, Aeson, Erys

Just got my first HM h/h kill - I've done HM before but always with other players - it was absolute cake. Brought three warrior heroes with Wild Blow, two necro heroes with Spoil Victor, the two warrior henchmen, and downed him in under two minutes. I was a ranger with the celestial stance, and brought Pain Inverter. The warrior heroes took care of stance removal, the necros spammed sv, the henchies used storm of swords, which did epic damage as there were at least six party members adjacent to Shiro at all times, while I stayed close by him to boost the damage done by SoS and used the celestial stance whenever he banished one of the heroes. Finished him with pain inverter on his first impossible odds. It helps to bring only melee henchmen now that there's no limit to the number of heroes in a party, as the bound warriors are more easily and swiftly dealt with than other classes. Hope this is of some help. Slayzie 05:24, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Cracked Armour

If you are using the celestial storm version, don't underestimate the value of cracked armour. Using this takes the damage from celestial storm from 19 to 28 - nothing to sniff at. Of course, Shiro is going to shed that as soon as he starts into Impossible odds, but layer on a blind/other miss chance and it might make a difference for long enough. 220.233.93.24 09:50, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

I just beat him in 2:59. He did the meditation thing at about 2:30. So, I'll assume it's health-based. (96.225.75.201 06:11, 22 September 2008 (UTC))
It is health based... When he got less than 1/2 HP, he will start using it.Conget 21:58, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I reckon its Def health based too, he starts meditating after about 15/20 seconds (when i get his health to less than 75%) and after that he will use it the second it recharges, if still needed. And I beat him in 1:30 on average, Nm or Hm does'nt really make a noticable difference. User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 15:16, 05 February 2008 (UTC)
90 seconds or so is about the fastest I can do this with my ele, in both HM and NM. (Von Skleeve 07:25, 29 December 2009 (UTC))

Shiro can banish heroes/hench now

Yes,it's true.Shiro can now banish ANYBODY!I went to kill him, using the warrior method. He banished one of my henchmen twice. --Monolito 15:11, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

The note says "Shiro cannot banish heroes". It doesnt' say anything about henchmen. --JonTheMon 15:23, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
He seems to be banishing more often, too. Or perhaps it's me. I tried beating him with my Paragon using the warrior method and we lost multiple times, when in the past that was not the case. Nbajammer User Nbajammer sig.png 15:28, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I took him out in NM in 2 minutes and he was able to banish 2 henchmen. It's not the best time in the world but useful when u only want to exchange the necklace for stuff :D --Monolito 09:24, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Warrior method isn't working for me either. The Warrior henchman don't appear to use Storm of Swords...but the Necromancer henchman I brought have Star Servants. =\ Bathory 23:20, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Oracle Of Time

Does anyone know who this NPC is? You just barely see his NPC model but he is on what appears to be an unreachable mountain and there aren't any pages about him. -24.72.29.142 13:39, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Bah... I just played through the mission again and realized he is reachable when banished... but the question remains. -24.72.29.142 14:04, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Pretty sure he's the one that explains how to get back after being banished. Bathory 23:19, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Elementalist Pwnage

I see there are many people having difficult here with shiro, so I think it might be handy to give people some tip (Especially elementalist)

People who got heroes can do easily with only melee heroes and melee henchies. If you do it well, NO monk is needed! I made a youtube film to show how to kill him easily. The trick is using triple Celestial Storm and then with the death of the bound, your 3 CS recharged and launch it immediately. If all your heroes and henchies were placed right before the stairs, shiro and bound will both standing there and got hit under the storm. If bound died fast, casting another 3 CS storms will makes shiro suffer 6 Celestial storm each second!!! Use other skills to finish him off like burning or other fast casting high damage spells. he should be dead in No time

[My Running Build with this tactic] Normal Mode: 68 sec
Shiro Conget.jpg

Hard Mode: 75 sec

I made a youtube movie for fast killing (Master) [1]

I think, thats one of the fastest ways to do it fella. If you have heros, you can do it with just you and them. Also, If you equip another particular Mesmer skill and you give it one of your heros too, then you can pull off four Celestial Storms. Hero Bug???

Is there a known bug with heroes? When Shiro banishes me my hereos suddenly stop using their skills and just rely on wand attacks!! As you can imagine it makes trying to drop him in under 2.5 minutes very hard!!!!--Stu 18:15, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

In order to prevent this you have to flag your heroes before getting banished or as soon as you enter and hope for the best. If you don't flag your heroes they turn out to be lazy --74.140.110.92 09:31, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
From what I could see, it's not so much lazy - they're desperately trying to run to your side. My guess is that they won't use any skills until they're "back with you" again, much as they won't use skills when running to a newly placed flag, etc. As previously said, flag 'em so they stop trying to follow you and they'll get back into the swing of things. -- Splodge of Cat 17:59, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Stances

Tried using mirrored stance on him, nothing, i wanted his stances ¬_¬

Haha I thought of trying that. Too bad... Green Arrow 13:26, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

This mission

is a complete joke. I tried it in NM today with my ritualist and beat it easily and got Masters with all henchmen. I didn't even bring heroes. Even Abaddon who's pretty much a sissy is harder than this dude, I mean...seriously. So much for a final boss when pretty much any other mission in Factions is harder. ^^ Green Arrow 13:55, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Banishing? (multi-player Assassin "runs" dead?)

I run this mish as an assassin and ever since the June 18 update, Shiro has been randomly banishing me even when no one else was aggroing him. Also, Silent Minority seems to have no effect. The update info said nothing on this. Has anyone else experienced this and can anyone provide information?--Shai Halud 17:12, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, first I have amended the title to just list Banishing, as unless I am very much mistaken, I don't think that "Solo" was meant, as in doing the mission as the only human player? So back the the point of banishing, I have found it extremely infuriating today. As a bit of background, over the years I have paid for many runs done by a Sin taking on Shiro and *never* saw the player banished while the other players where in south shrine and did not aggro or interfere. Having finally got round to taking one of my sins to Nightfall and up to Sunspear R8 (Castellan), I worked her through the rest of Factions and tried the A/W build with "Wild Blow" and "Critical Agility". This is what I found:
- Solo Playing (i.e. no other human players). After a bit of practice (using necro blood and curse heros and protect hero monk), I had little trouble getting masters in both normal and hard mode, with *never* any banishing (I must have done the mission at least 5 times in each mode).
- Attempting Run (running with non-fighting human players). Using the same setup as solo, I took two other players and attempted a run in normal mode (the players did not interfere and were in correct spot). After 30 secs or so, I was banished. I persevered and the next time, I was banished before I could get a single hit in on Shiro. I tried again many times, with just a single other player, also using one of mine on another account. No matter what I tried, I was banished every single time! I even tried adding Lucas too, hoping that he might be banished instead of me, but no, I was banished, not Lucas!
Am I missing something? Have they really nurfed sin running (perhaps unintentially under an update, June 18, or otherwise)? Comments welcome! PS: Talking to E/Me players, it does not appear to happen to them, Lucas is banished, not them Arrowmaster 21:05, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Well I continued persevering with this and have managed to do runs without getting banished. I am still not at all sure why I get banished sometimes, and not others. There does not seem to be anything obvious that I am doing differently when I am or am not. Managed to do masters in hm twice, with one other real player in team, last time was 01:59 so I cant be doing it so wrong, or am I still missing some key point? Arrowmaster 00:35, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
The only reliable solution for this I have found is to kill him quickly. The faster you do it the better, but the ele build is generally better at this I just switched over and started using my ele to run people.--Shai Halud 11:22, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
I think he doesn't banish the party leader. If you weren't the leader, it would make sense for you to be banished. Jafar 02:27, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
The only time he definitely won't banish the party leader is if the leader is the only human in the party ;-) Splodge of Cat 06:31, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
I was the party leader when Tried this so, yes, since summer 2009, he will even banish the party leader if there are any other humans in the party.--Shai Halud 13:43, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

He justs sits in Meditation til he dies sometimes?

I did HM with a KD-oriented warrior character and necro heroes spamming Discord. After some initial fightin', Shiro went into meditation and never popped out of it. What's up with that? Saw it twice in a row. 70.179.91.2 05:04, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Confirmed, I just witnessed a similar thing happen. Of course, I had spirits and a flesh golem up (brought the henchies), so I dunno if this might have caused this. Was pretty helpful, though, just sat in midair while we smacked him around.Kozume 07:29, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
I got a similar bug. I brought henchmen with a general build, probably would have failed if not for the bug. I have no idea what actually caused it, but at the time I had him swarmed with Celestial Assassins and he appeared to get body-blocked and stuck between them and level collision by the staircase. He just kept dropping in and out of meditation until he was dead. Hold Me Closer, Necromancer 20:18, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

I just Soloed Shiro With my Ritualist using the skills Wanderlust, Shadowsong, Pain, Vampirism, Anguish, Earthbind, Painful Bond, and Spirit Siphon. Now he should have been able to kill me with his Meditation of the Reaper. But what ended up happening is when he activated it Wanderlust Knocked him down causing him to go back up into the meditation state and never came down. Possible way to complete without being hit?

Just thought of something, haven't tried it yet though. 2-3 Resto rits with weapon of shadow & 5-6 melandru dervishes. Shiro will be blinded 24/7 even with impossible odds, mhenlo+rits can easily handle heals while melandru dervs can ignore blindness and lay down the pain on shiro, body blocking to prevent rits from being hit. Also, a full team of rits might work in the same way using spirits strength & sight beyond sight instead of the dervishes. Would it work? K2K 05:29, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

"With the proper build, this mission can be performed fairly easily using only an Assassin and Mhenlo healing. Generally, this involves Critical Defenses, Critical Agility, and an attack chain that deals heavy damage quickly and can be spammed."

Kills shiro in less than 30-45 seconds in hard mode... this is for Factions: Any/W with Wild Blow to cancel out Battle Scars, 1 UA monk, 1 Soul Twisting w/ Shelter, Preservation, and Union, Spiteful Spirit Necro, Signet of Spirits rit, Signet of Ghostly Might rit w/ Painful Bond, 1 Spoil Victor necro, and 1 Ineptitude mesmer w/ Calculated Risk. You could probably do this with a Ranger or some other caster hero taking SoS instead of a third rit. Practically any class can SoS passably well. 64.15.81.27 01:20, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
I've beaten him roughly the same time with 3 Necros and 1 sin (me being the sin); I brought Golden Fox Strike (can be Unsuspecting Strike), Wild Blow, and Death Blossom, Critical Defenses and Agility, Way of the Assassin (can probably swap this and crit defense for Flashing Blades and add in crit eye), and have the last one be the celestial skill - necros be insidious parasite, spiteful spirit, spoil victor, empathy, and other skills that damage on attack (or failure of, since you'll be blocking 75% of his attacks on average); add on vamp weapon of enchanting on sin for extra damage (and enchant lasting in case) if wanted. Use celestial skill immediately *after* his Meditation skill finishes (so that he gets 50 or so healing from 4 figures instead of 30 or so healing from 10 figures), and just pound him. I was hard pressed to not kill him under 1 minute. Though it wouldn't matter either way since the bonus is much higher than that. Konig/talk 04:39, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
