Bored

Much to my dismay, I searched 'bored' on GWW and unfortunately, no page came up :( I had the idea about making a page about things to do in Guild Wars when bored, such as the Black Moa Chick scavenger hunt, or other events/quests/cool things not normally completed when just playing through the game. The problem is however I don't know how to do it and I just wanted to suggest it to get feedback for it. So, any comments?? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.173.243.171 (talk).

Well it's not really in the encyclopediatic style (yes, I know encyclopediatic isn't a word). So I don't think it really fits here... You could make a thread about it on GWG or some other GW fan site. MadSkillz1o1 15:11, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I think it's a good idea (I know lots of long-time veterans who have still missed a few interesting in-game projects). It could fit in Category:Guides. N00bs are interested in "getting started" guides; veterans might be interested in "things to do in Tyria after you win" (or something along those lines). My recommendation:

• Create an example in your user space (you need an account here to do it), e.g. User:75.173.243.171/Bored.
• When you think it's ready for prime time, put in a request for feedback (perhaps on the community portal?).
• If there's enuf ppls who like the idea, one of the wiki's frequent contributors will help find a place for it.

I'd like to see a page like this. Right now all my warr has to do (besides titles) is the black moa chick scavenger hunt, UW (which is now almost impossible to do without a team build) urgoz (again need an actual team of 12 ppl), Sorrow's Furnace, DoA (again need a team build), the titan quests, and other quests. Guys. Wtf. Firstly, don't feed the troll. Second, don't revert war with the troll (it's not against policy since it is vandalism, but it just makes a huge mess). Third, there are many ways to contact sysops - the admin noticeboard, the #gww irc channel, or sysops' MSN if you have it. Once you have reported the issue, just hang out and wait for a response. Cell Phones

Y'know, it's a shame someone can't write an app to see this page on a cell phone. If you try to look it up currently the page is huge with lots of scrolling. D: Especially if you try to reply to talk pages. xD 67.77.74.216 02:26, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I only know about US carriers, and since I'm too lazy to trace your IP, I'll just assume you're from the US. Sprint only charges $10/mo extra to get access to their 4G network (though only on an Evo or an Epic), which runs from ~450 kbps to ~2500 kbps - certainly fast enough to load wiki pages consistently. T-Mobile's HSPA+ network has comparable (better, tbh) speeds at no extra charge, though you'll probably end up with another $10/mo on your bill because their flat rates are higher. T-Mobile also has the advantage of not requiring you to buy an expensive phone to get 4G speeds. We're not going to get into AT&T, since their plans are terrible and expensive and the iPhone has ruined their network stability, or Verison, since they charge more than Sprint for pretty much exactly the same end result (possibly worse; I don't know what they're doing about a 4G network, but I'm pretty sure it's not up to par with Sprint's). If you're using a 3G phone, yeah, you're looking at longer loading times compared to DSL (my personal baseline for wiki pages), but realistically, if you're still using old technology, you should expect worse results anyway. If you're eligible for an upgrade and/or are out of contract, walk into a third party vendor store (RadioShack, Best Buy, etc) and ask to compare things like data coverage, rate charges, and phone hardware between various carriers. No, but someone could write an app (for Android, iPhone, whatever) that would optimize the display of wikis, along the lines of Wikipanion (a Wikipedia reader for iPhone) which works faster and looks better than using Safari to visit the website. And to answer the question, you can't edit it directly because it'd quickly become a target for vandalism.
