Copyvio[edit]

I disagree with the copy vio on this page. If you actually look at the history of this article in Guild Wiki all of the major contributors to the article have released their edits to GFDL, and I think Aberrant knew that when it was bought over. It might pay to investigate a bit before slapping the tag on anything which look similar. --Aspectacle 23:48, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Bugged[edit]

I have added the bug tag to the article, and will do some digging around to see how widespread this is, and whether it is a fairly recent thing or has always been that way. In the last two weeks or so, I've been hearing from a lot of friends that gear in their storage has disappeared - including golds and uniques - despite their assertion that they have not allowed their account security to be compromised. I've also been told by a number of them that those who did report it to to ANet were basically told "tough cheese - ANet are not responsible for your storage items". Yesterday when I logged in, I discovered that my Trade Contracts had been reset from 12 to 1, Margonite Masks from 70+ to 1, Inscribed Shards from 60+ to 1, and Wintergreen candy canes from 20+ to 1. I'm a horder - my vault is always full, as are several of my char slots who are purely mules. Its very possible that other stuff has disappeared, perhaps on numerous occasions, from my storage. From today I am keeping a hard copy of all contents :( Please do not remove the bug tag just because it hasn't happened to you... yet User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 05:25, 29 April 2007 (EDT)

*runs to check storage* Phew! Nothing changed. I will certainly keep an eye on my storage from now on. And that response from support was really disappointing, it IS their responsibility to keep the bugs away, especially in these serious cases. What says it's not a stack of ectos that disappears next time. :( - Anja Anja Astor (talk) 05:38, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
*shudders at the very thought* What is gnawing at the back of my mind now is all of those occasions in the past when I went through all my storage and mules looking for something, and eventually conceded to myself that I must have sold it, loaned it or accidentally traded it and forgotten :/ User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 05:51, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
I've never heard of this supposed bug, and nobody is starting threads on GWG forums etc about it. Very odd that only one person has the bug... If more people were having these problems, it'd be recognized immediately. -AuronMy Talk 09:32, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
Just because you have never heard of it doesn't mean it can't happen... I just wispd the last person who told me about this happening to them too - they lost runes, golds, and a Hand of the Forgotten. I asked him if he'd heard any more from ANet - he said they weren't going to do anything about it. User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 10:04, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
Edit to add - his verdict on the handling of the items disappearing User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 10:12, 29 April 2007 (EDT) User Fox chat screen.jpg
Chill out. I didn't say it can't happen, now did I? I merely said that, upon perusing four or five forums and seeing nobody with similar complaints, I thought it highly unlikely. -AuronMy Talk 10:53, 29 April 2007 (EDT)
Stop turtling. I stated categorically that it happened to me, and I stated categorically that it happened to others that I know well. So that makes your comment of "supposed" and "highly unlikely" exactly the same as "you are bullshitting". The fact that we are not forum attention-whores does not lessen or disprove our experiences. User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 04:38, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
I'm not sure if you know me from the other Wiki, but if I want to make a point or call you out, I'm going to be blunt about it. The fact that I didn't say "you are bullshitting" should be a clue that I didn't think you're lying. I said it was highly unlikely based on my searching of forums, I never said you were making shit up. Putting words in my mouth is generally a bad idea.
Now, back on topic, did you contact ANet or file a ncsoft complaint card about it? We can't have the "bug" tag on the page forever. -AuronMy Talk 03:03, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

(ri) I checked my bank and I have many stacks of things. I took a screenshot in case it happens, because my bank is where I keep Imperial Commendations, Dyes, etc, all in stacks. It would suck if I lost any of them. - BeX 05:13, 30 April 2007 (EDT)

Never heard anything about this, I think that bug tag is more scaremongering that anything else. --Lemming64 22:05, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

No idea where to put this... But... My storage account is bugged or something. I don't mind since it works out in my favor but the thing thats wrong with it is that even though I only have one campaign I have 3 storage tabs... I have no idea why, it just appeared one day and I didn't know i was or wasn't supposed to have it. Anyway, i just thought this was odd... SkyMan25 00:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Bug Confirm[edit]

If no one has any further evidence or any to speak of to correlate this bug I will remove the tag shortly. --Lemming64 02:20, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: move suggestion[edit]

As it stands, the window itself is still called "vault box." I support moving this article to Xunlai Chest, as long as this article remains as a redirect. —Tanaric 20:24, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Yep. - BeX 03:26, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
I'd love to see that change. I was really surprised to see this title. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 18:20, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Merge[edit]

I'm against merging this with Xunlai Chest as the chest is actually a NPC and this describes the feature of storing things.. poke | talk 19:59, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

If this information is kept separate, then it needs a different name. But I don't see why it can't be incorporated into the other article. The current names are just confusing. Keep in mind that Storage already exists too. Maybe this information can go there instead. - BeX iawtc 05:09, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
I would totally like to see this all moved to "Storage," as I think that's the first, instinctive choice for most people doing searches. Errr... at least that's what I just typed in. ;) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:12, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
As the in-game name is "Vault box", why not just make the Storage article a redirect to here, then merge the existing content from that article into this one? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 16:51, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Where do you find that name? I have only seen Xunlai Chest as an in game name. - anja talk 17:12, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
The window that opens is called Vault Box. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 17:13, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Doh! I should have known that. Nvm :P - anja talk 17:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I have merged the contents from Storage into this article, as this is the real in game name. I made Storage a normal redirect. I disagree with merging this into Xunlai Chest, with the same reason as poke points out. That article is about the NPC, not the service and game mechanic. - anja talk 19:52, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Agree with merge ~ KurdUser Kurd sig.png 09:53, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
The NPC related to this process is the Xunlai Agent, not the storage bin itself. When you search for your storage in the game, it's called "Xunlai Chest." When you open it, it's called "Vault Box." I would still argue that it's more instinctive to call this page the name that you see in the game in every town and outpost, rather than the tiny type on the interface page itself that you probably don't even notice once you open the Xunlai Chest. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 18:25, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
The box is a fixed NPC with a level and everything. The article for that NPC (Xunlai Chest) gives information about that creature and it's locations and other details, and also tells you that when you click on it, you will open the "Vault box" window. We always try to use the official terms over unofficial ones, and use those unofficial ones (such as storage or bank) as redirects to the correct article. - BeX iawtc 01:31, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

storage[edit]

moved from User talk:Gaile Gray

i know that storage has been upgraded many times for easy use, and extra tabs for people with campains. I have all 3 games + expansion pack and 10 character slots, and i need more stoage space for all the stuff i collect, i was wondering could you introduce a way to pay (with guildwars money not real) for extra storage eg: 10k for 10 extra tabs 20k for 15 extra tabs something like that. was just wondering.

My wish list - enough said. Barinthus 20:55, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Gaile has answered many times that it is highly unlikely that they would introduce more storage to Guild Wars 1. -- Gem (gem / talk) 21:00, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I have said that, many times. There are no plans to expand storage. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 03:34, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

I'd love to see an option to access any of my characters bags from storage. Then you could buy a character slot and essentially increase your storage. Isamu Kurosawa 08:47, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Transferring between characters via storage is a drag, but at least it's feasible (unlike say Diablo or Dungeon Siege series). Look at your items, I'd bet most of them are only rarely needed... these can go on char mules. Alaris 15:25, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

(ri) Not all of us use mules though, I'd much prefer to use the only eight slots I have specifically for actual characters. Though I'm gradually running out of storage months after the new "4 tab" storage, I think we have plenty right now. I remember when we didn't even have a crafting tab. That was a drag. So new players have it good. VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 15:30, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

The point I learned back when I played Diablo 2 is that it's easy to get carried away and become a pack-rat. I was collecting runes and gems to make better versions of them, all kinds of items both beginner (for new characters) and high-level, and tons of those things that give you bonuses when you have them in your inventory. I was always running out of space, and using mules or getting bigger storage (with the cube and expansion) only helped temporarily, until those got full. Then I learned to be more selective and sell anything that I didn't really need, and my storage problems got better. In GW, I usually play with 1 or 2 characters over stretches of time, so I can use the others as mules. If I go back to using an old character, I can move all that stuff to a char I don't use as much. Alaris 15:49, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I tend to just say "screw it" and sell some leftover materials and somesuch. I DO use my PvP character as a mule however, so I can't say I don't use them at all. but I have this sad "If it stacks, keep it" mindset... VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 15:55, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
My mindset includes: if it can be bought cheap, sell it. So now most inks and runes I find go straight to the merchants. Alaris 16:14, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Personally i would be happy to purchase extra slots for a cash amount [like the skill unlock packs]. I understand why they dont want too many slots [hording, bad for in game commerce if you can just say "nope, i am holding out for 100k for this item, not 1 plat less"]. But maybe an extra slot that holds dye and battle commendations [tade/mon credit etc]or even [dare I wish it out loud] a slot for minitures, that way you could see what ones you still need, sack all the pigs you have on top of each other and so on. 203.16.182.12 10:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC) Deville

Missing note?[edit]

Buying GWEN does not add one TAB of storage under special cases. The case is when you own all 3 previous campaigns. A note should be in the page IMO.

The article says you will have 2 to 4 tabs, so it mentions there is a max. Any suggestion to make it more clear? - anja talk 21:13, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
I too was confused by this. I purchased my 4th GW product today and was expecting a fifth slot, when I didn't get it I immediately came here and began searching to find out why. Now I see there is a max of 4 slots, it is easily overlooked. I'll add this to my list of things that is wrong with this wiki.--Worldly Tutor 23:24, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I've modified the text in that area. Hopefully it will be clearer for future readers. --Aspectacle 23:45, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Storage update[edit]

Is there a slight possibility ANet can update the storage to output the "Amount Request" for withdraws. Few guild mates and I had an accident when we were force to withdraw all ectos; and ended up selling all of them by accident. (I know we're dumb but things happen!) Hope you guys can add the feature.--66.192.234.74 11:47, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

This reply is a tad bit late, but if you hold Shift while dragging and dropping any item, it will cause a window to pop up asking how many you want to transfer. This is identical to the window that pops up when you drag a bunch of items into the trade window. --Kristofferus 05:11, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Book Storage[edit]

Due to the excessive amount of space required to hold various mission/dungeon books, is it possible to either combine all books into one "encyclopedia" or provide a tab in characters' Xunlai Chest, in much the same way as crafting material storage? -Steve of MARA

- Agree, though i don't think it should be in the Xunlai Chest because that's shared for all characters. I would suggest each their own extra storage slot just for books. At the moment I decided to mostly ignore the books because they eat up storage space - which is a shame really because it's a good idea to have those books. (another player from MARA - btw how do I become Wiki user etc?) preceding unsigned comment by 77.162.35.137

Since the storage / xunlai chest / 'vault box' is shared between toons while books are customised to a particular toon; and also since sometimes people have multiple books on the go (in case they repeat missions, etc) I am not sure that a 'book tab' on storage (like the materials tab) would be the best way.
I do like the idea of a 'Xunlai bookshelf' in the Hall of Monuments; it would be per-character and once a book is in your bookshelf it has the same effect as being carried around does now. One shelf per character.
You could have multiple copies of the same book on the shelf. (In that case I suppose the first instance of a book is the one that gets updated).
I do like, by the way (in case it was not clear) the concept of books, filling them in and handing them over. And maybe the stage my best toon is at (baby steps in HM, still doing a lot of NM) means I have twice as many books as new characters (NM only), or as stronger characters (HM only).--Wet Wet Wetter 22:08, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I recently recieved a reply on a e-mail I send to Anet about book storage or a combination of the books --

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to write in with your feedback.

The book problem isn’t actually a design issue, it is a server space and human resource issue. We do not have enough space in our servers to create additional storage for books. We also do not have enough programming resources to implement any additional storage. The Design Team is looking into creative ways to use existing storage space, and we hope that we will be able to find some solutions.

Regards,

The Guild Wars Team

Customized Tab[edit]

I would greatly appreciate an additional storage tab in which characters may only place customized items. Character A would have a different tab than character B, so each character would only be able to see its own "customized tab". Would be great to keep your second armor set, surplus weapons and, of course, story books. All these items use too much valuable storage space at the moment, but you certainly want to keep (armor, weapons) respectively use (story books) them. 138.246.7.121 14:42, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

I'd recommend looking into getting a backpack and combine it with bags. This gives you the wonderful ability to contain unique, even customized, content for each character, that only that particular character can see.
Rejoice! because now you can grind and grind and grind, eventually acquiring enough zcoins to buy an Equipment Pack for one of your characters. Grind more to get another. 76.30.79.54 13:24, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

4 tabs with 2 campaigns?[edit]

Just purchased Guild Wars Factions Platinum Edition, which contains the prophecies and factions campaigns. This is my second account, so I was very surprised to see that when I opened my first Xunlai storage on my first char in ascalon city and bought all the upgrades, I got all 4 slots plus the mat storage. I only have Prophecies and Factions unlocked, so why is this? Ashes Of Doom Talk 03:25, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

You get one tab per campaign or expansion up to 4. That was true when the only expansion was EotN, but as i see it the BMP probably counts as one too, hence why you have 4 tabs instead of 3.--Fighterdoken 03:58, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Seems true. So the definition of expansion in here is not 100% true (BMP is not counted as a expansion)? Faalagorn/ 22:33, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
It's every campaign as the game engine sees it, so the BMP and EotN counts. Backsword 09:07, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

April 2009 Storage updates[edit]

http://www.guildwars.com/community/events/contentupdates/4thanniversary/

   * Equipment Packs in assorted sizes, designed solely to hold weapons and armor (gear).
   * Every character will get a fifth slot for an Equipment Pack.
   * More purchasable Xunlai Storage panes (tabs).
   * Each pane is $9.99 USD from the in-game store or the NCsoft Store. You can buy up to four of them for a single account.

$9.99 a pop? rediculous, though i must say that the extra inventory slot will be nice 72.129.63.173 09:02, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Goodness, Heavens, and oh great god!!!! This is amazing!!! |Cyan LightUser-Cyan Light sig-icon.jpgLive!| 09:13, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Are you kidding me? For $9.99 you can buy a new charachter slot instead, and use THAT as storage, cause you can store more on that charachter than you can on a storage slots. This is ridiculous! — DarKNeSS (Contribs) 10:44, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Waste of money.. For each pane you would get 20 storage slots. If you buy another character for the same amount you get 45 storage slots. Wasga 17:54, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
45 vs 20 Ok, if the price stays at 9.99 then you have two options: Mule @ 45 capacity or Tab @ 20 either way, it is up to the individual player. I for one am looking forward to the Equipment packs, since they will take the currently held weapons out of main inventory and allow more space when farming or questing, in addition to holding your armor pieces as well.MystiLefemEle 09:11, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

New Storage Flop?[edit]

We are supposed to get a new 4 year tab from the inline store. But then there is no place in the inline store to claim this. As usual ArenaNet is all mouth and no actions. This should be an easy thing to handover even GW Wiki has no instructions on how to get it. The whole thing is poorly designed as usual. It's about time for these people to really think of their users. What a pity.

Maybe you should stop being insulting and look at the links in the update. " See the Storage FAQ for more details. " Ashes Of Doom Talk 12:11, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Is anyone else having issues getting the free storage?

My PlayNC username was my email address which is 24 characters long. The login for the NCSoft account can only be 12 characters long so I cant log in that way...

I tried lots of times to create a new NCSoft account but each time the session times out or the page resets as it takes so long to load which means i need to resubmit again.. just to find it session outing again :(

Am I doing it wrong or are others having problems with this?

The servers are extremely overloaded at the moment. According to Regina, they're fixing the problem. Just wait a few days and try again. You've got until the end of May, so it's no big rush.--Pyron Sy 12:47, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Moving tab[edit]

The promotional tab does indeed seem to move. It is positioned after the last storage tab you have purchased. It is only before the materials tab if you have purchased all possible storage upgrades. See the 2 pictures on the page. Ashes Of Doom Talk 05:08, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
My promotional tab never moved; it always stayed at the place before the materials storage tab, no matter how many storage panes I had unlocked. Perhaps the new location was implemented for new accounts, and was kept the same for older ones. In any case, I shouldn't have been so hasty to "correct" the information. My vault looks like this:
My irregular vault box
Perhaps instead of deleting the anomaly altogether, we should say that it only applies to older accounts? --Threid Threid's talk page 18:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
What the heck. Feel free to correct the anomaly to say that it only applies to some accounts. Ashes Of Doom Talk 20:00, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Will do. It'd be nice if we knew when the change was implemented. I started playing 2 months ago, so I'm not much help here. --Threid Threid's talk page 20:47, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
After thinking about it further, my promotional tab's location is probably due to the fact that it's not unlocked for me. If it were, then it would probably follow behavioral patterns. -_-' --Threid Threid's talk page 20:53, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Items which can't be added[edit]

Afaik they can be stored. I agree with Manassas, I can recall nothing that cannot be placed in the vault now. If someone knows of a non storable item, the note should be rewritten to specify which items are non storable, otherwise the note should be removed --Lhoj 14:10, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Maximum[edit]

"The Vault box has two to a maximum of eight tabs of storage space. " I know the Anniversary tab is no longer available but still the maximum size is 9 tabs not 8

Rune storage[edit]

You know, a rune storage tab would be awesome, just a way to store all the runes and insignia that get picked up to save for heroes and such. --Vhalantru 04:48, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

@ 72.201.155.226's Edit[edit]

I don't think this is an anomaly. It's obviously different from merchants and other NPCs, but I'm pretty sure it is a deliberate change, and I'm pretty sure that doesn't warrant an anomaly tag ("An anomaly, on the other hand, is when it isn't explicitly known how a feature is intended to work, but it's inconsistent with the rest of the game."), so I'll revert it unless someone disagrees. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 05:51, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
