Asura armour icon
Thought I'd ask you seeing as you're online at the moment, I found Image:User Brains12 Asura armour icon.png but I didn't know where to put it, and wondered if you did. It looks to me like an Asura armour icon. -- Brains12 \ Talk 20:14, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yeh I found that one too, it looks like a piece of Vekk's armour I though. --Lemming 20:16, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- Will there be a place for something like that to (NPC armor icons?), or is it unnecessary? -- Brains12 \ Talk 20:28, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- I would say there is no harm, in fact I found the whole set of Vekk Brotherhood. Guild Wars Wiki:Projects/Inventory icons/Hero armor --Lemming 21:45, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- his armor is renamed to "Brotherhood armor" if you gave him a Cloth of the Brotherhood, but his default armor is named "Asuran armor" and both look equal. I made some suggestions for the Hero armors on the talk page, maybe you want to look at it. :) —ZerphaThe Improver 01:40, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes I am with you, I didn't realise until later that the icon remains the same when the armour set is changed. I would suggest that the default name just be things like "Vekk Eye", "Vekk Robes" etc. --Lemming 02:44, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- oh you're right, we could actually leave out the armor part in the name, this shouldn't cause problems as
1. i don't think that arenanet creates a "Vekk" armor for players and
2. Armors normally also need the class in their names...unless they're common armor...but it is very unlikely that this occurs.^^ - Hmmm, but wait, shouldn't the name of the armor piece not mirror the ingame name? another method would then be that we use the ingame names and put the Hero's names behind the armor in brackets in case the armor names would overlap. (which is e.g. with Livia and Hayda the case)
Do you think we should maybe talk about this issue in the main talk page of the project? —ZerphaThe Improver 03:23, 5 February 2008 (UTC)- Well there is some discussion on the main project talk page, the name would reflect the in game name in the part of the piece name, shoes/boots/sandals, raiment/vestment/chest, etc? --Lemming 03:27, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- The answer on my talk just remembered me of maybe leaving a note on your talk page to allude to my comments on thehero armor talk, which hopefully give answer to this question —ZerphaThe Improver 14:37, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Play.com Show
Heya, Lemming. I was wondering if you had any more information about the Consumer Games Show that was planned by Play.com. We talked about it here and I was curious of you'd seen more publicity about it over on your side of the pond. Thanks. -- Gaile 00:40, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Eloc's RFA
In response 2 ur comment on Eloc's RFA, i believe that every1 gets angry like that, but it's only Eloc who openly expresses his anger on the wiki. I ask u now, r sayin that u never wanted 2 say something of that nature 2 some1?--Sum Mesmer Guy 13:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm at a loss as to how you seem to have formed such a high opinion of Eloc after a short month on this wiki and being involved mostly with your own pages and having little apparent interaction with Eloc on the wiki. -- ab.er.rant 16:05, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

- You say you've seen a lot before registering an account/editing. Well, you've seen a lot of Eloc on talk pages. More than believable. But did you ever read those comments? A lot of what he posts is constructive, but a fair amount is also "Eloc being argumentative and over-the-top". User talk:Lussh/archive1#Signature and User talk:Ryudo/archive would be good places to start to see why a lot of people are against Eloc having sysop powers, considering what he may have done with them in that situation. Calor 17:18, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- As a sysop myself I am aware that certain situations can be frustrating, but I believe that if you can't sit back and assess how you portray yourself in a message board type situation then something is lacking. I can't think of a time when I or any of the other sysops we currently have serving have ever had an outburst similar to the one I left as an example (which was only a little over 2 months ago). Until Eloc can prove to me that he can handle stressful situations more professionally then I can't leave a vote of support. --Lemming 21:32, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

- If it were only Eloc's occasional temper, I don't think anybody would be opposed to him. It's a vast array of significant other characteristics that makes Eloc unsuitable for the position in the eyes of the community. —Tanaric 00:54, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

- Sorry about all this, Lemming. Didn't it used to be that it required more reconfirmation requests than support votes to trigger this? In any case, your reconfirmation at this point is ludicrous, and I'm sure the policy will change to prevent this from happening again. —Tanaric 15:17, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think the policy used to state that whilst it takes more to trigger one instantly, any request for reconfirmation would eventually trigger one. Which does seem quite absurd now we have got there, I think there is a couple of other people who will get hit with one soon because of that, I think yourself and Aiiane are two of those. --Lemming 15:21, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

- I agree that Aiiane will face one soon, but I have no pending reconfirmation requests. I voluntarily reconfirmed after the last two were made. In any case, since both of us are bureaucrats and not sysops (well, in two days anyway), any reconfirmation would be a rote exercise in policy and nothing more anyway. —Tanaric 15:26, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Your tabs
Hey Lem, just thought I'd let you know about a slight problem with the tabs on your userpage. It's something I noticed a while back while trying to create tabs similar to yours for my user page but I completely forgot to mention it when I switched to my current version. The text seems to cut off half way up the words, I think it might be caused by the code on tab 1 and tab 2; it looks to be either line-height:0.2em
or max-height:5px
but I can't be sure which; if any; causes it since to actually check I'd have to save. --Kakarot 00:21, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- I was never sure how to fix it, it only happens with IE so I don't see it on firefox, I will have a play with that bit of code though and see if it fixes it. --Lemming 00:29, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Reverts
LOL you really are the fastest reverter in the west, you beat me to them all you git! (LOL). anyhoo just a question, how do i do that wee reverting thingy, as all i do is delete the gibber and save again but im guessing thats the wrong method and that theirs some revert button im missing? - The "reverted edits by ___, to last vesrion by ___" is the text from the one-click sysop rollback function. Just go to contribs, and click all the [rollback] links and you have reverted that nasty gibber. - Because they're Sysops. Calor 22:32, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know, I always wondered why such a little difference was reserved for admins. Although, it might be because it rolls back all edits by one user until it gets to an edit by a different user (meaning a multiple reversion). -- Brains12 \ Talk 22:36, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Probably because if everyone had it anyone could, theoretically, try and revert all (13k) of aberrant's edits. If I understand the tool right. Calor 23:06, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- No, that couldn't happen. It only works on the latest edit of a page, so I could rollback this edit once I'm done until it gets to your edit. But once someone else makes an edit, I can only rollback that one, not mine. -- Brains12 \ Talk 23:32, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Deletion question
Since you seem to be online at the moment I want to make sure I did this right before this page is deleted. When I first added the delete template it added two of my pages; my user page and one other; to the candidates for deletion as well. I think I did the noinclude tags correctly but want to make sure that it is while the page is still there, thanks. --Kakarot 02:55, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- It looks fine to me, I have deleted that page for you now. --Lemming 12:36, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok thanks, got a bit worried when I saw those extra pages in the list for deletion. Once I added the tags it seemed to fix it but I wanted to make sure I had done it right. --Kakarot 13:41, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

From what I can see the image was not corrupt and it was viewable. A little odd how I could see it. Could you elaborate on your summary? --Shadowphoenix 18:12, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- hmm if it worked for you, that is odd. Basically another person tagged it for deletion originally with that reason, when I looked at the image myself I was also unable to view the image, and therefore concluded if two of us were having problems it was corrupt somehow. Perhaps it was an issue with the cache or something else. Please feel free to re-upload the image, I apologise for any inconvenience cause. --Lemming 18:17, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Weapon/Shield/Focus page formatting
Lemming, I was looking through the weapon pages last night and found that the formatting varies quite a bit and also no one seems to know the accepted way to taggy the acquisition segment. For example should it be:
Campaign
- Greater Area
- Smaller Area
- chest/mob which drops it
- Smaller Area
e.g. Gothic Axe
or should it just be:
Smaller Area
- Chest/mob
E.g. Dragoncrest_Axe
Also under NOTES, should we be listing under the none-unique skins , which unique weapons use those skins or not as it seems to be somewhat hit and miss throughout.
also if the item drops from both chests and mobs in the same area, I'm guessing theirs no need to specify this and instead one can just list the area in which it drops.
Any light you can shed on this would be appreicated as I would like to go through these articles and put in place some kind of uniformity o the formatting so that all of them read in the same manner, making that part of the wiki more cohesive. -- Salome 15:31, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Isn't this covered in Guild_Wars_Wiki:Formatting/Weapons ?? --Lemming 16:29, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Userpage History Deletion Request
It's nothing major, but it'd be nice to keep history cleaner. This is the link. I wasn't too sure how the delete tag would work with that. Thanks. ~ | Pae - Talk | 23:31, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

My tabs
So, I've been envying your slim and trim userpage tabs. How in the world did you do it? I have the same line height, and everything looks identical. I am guessing it's a weird spacing issue (because MediaWiki handles line breaks in crazy ways), but I'm not sure. Do you remember what you did? XD -- Emily Diehl (talk) 01:59, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- I noticed the more tabs I added the smaller they got, I am not entirely sure which bit of the code makes it do that though. --Lemming 02:00, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Came across this conversation and decided to do a test; preview only; in my sandbox and I can confirm that it does indeed depend on the number of tabs. I used your Tabs Header as a start Emily and it seems that it changes size every two tabs. For example 8/9 tabs is a small height, 6/7 is a bit bigger, 4/5 a bit bigger, and it continues in this fashion. --Kakarot 14:33, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Why do I always think of something to add immediately after I click save =S Anyway the size of the tab has to have something to do with either Tabs Bottom or Tabs Top and I think that it would have something to do with the 100% width on TabsTop. Although I can't be sure it seems to be the only bit of code that could cause this type of affect based on my experience with percentage widths over pixel ones. --Kakarot 14:41, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Aware
I am aware it is not a talk page, I was commenting on the NPA violation, nothing more. --Shadowphoenix 21:06, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- As discussed in the admin board talk page and stated at the top of the page, "Additional comments to a raised issue should only be made if and only if they specifically point out further evidence or arguments either for or against an issue. Do not post general comments here and do not argue about the issue here. Please take them to more appropriate talk pages." I am simply trying to keep the board clean. --Lemming 21:09, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- "or arguments either for or against an issue" like you said. I was against blocking him. --Shadowphoenix 21:11, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- It wasn't an argument, it was stating an opinion. A thin line I guess but if every user starts chiming in, I think they should be banned, I don't think they should, etc on the noticeboard it again uses it's value as an alert to the admins of help needed. --Lemming 21:13, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Swearing
Hiya, Lemming :). I wanted to let you know that I am not trying to take swearing out of GWW, that is something that I do not really care about. Please re-read what has been added to my proposal. I do not want to ban swearing, just sexual content (and things that have to do offensivness with race, religon and such). :o) --Shadowphoenix 21:03, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Please read the whole discussion at Guild_Wars_Wiki_talk:No_profanity/Talk_Archive1 and you will understand why I drew comparisons. --Lemming 21:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

--Kakarot 14:48, 31 March 2008 (UTC)- What happens when the vandal user boxes vandal user box gets vandalised? --Lemming 14:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Guild Cape Image File
I was wondering if you could clarify something for me. I'm in a guild Spirit Of The Dragon, we're in the process of updated our page and included a cape image. Unfortunately we goofed on the image - it was taken in an area with tinted lighting which caused the cape's color to be significantly different. We got a new image and uploaded it, but it has not appeared yet. While checking this morning, I noticed an option to delete the image file. I'm just wondering if I've done something wrong. Should I have deleted the old file before uploading a new one? Am I just waiting on Admin approval / release of the cape image? Did the upload fail? Further advice, even if just to direct me to the appropriate person, or wiki article would be appreciated. -- Sabardeyn 13:37, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Upload your new image over the existing one, it may not show up immediately as the wiki takes a little while to re-cache images sometimes but after about an hour your new image should have replaced the old one. The old version does not need to be deleted though. --Lemming 13:56, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Just as a note, it sometimes requires you to clear your local cache after said hour by pressing Ctrl+F5. — Galil 13:59, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmmm... Then something must have been done wrong. It's been about 4 hrs and I just reloaded via Ctrl+F5 (using FF). Still seeing the wrong image. -- Sabardeyn 14:44, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Which image do you mean, this one Image:Guild Spirit Of The Dragon cape.jpg? If so no new version has been uploaded since the original upload about 15 hours ago. --Lemming 14:46, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
