Mirror of Ice[edit]
I have no problem with your decision on the formatting, but I'm searching for consistency. Would you prefer all similar unmentioned armor-ignoring typed damage skills being marked as anomalies? Dust Trap, for one. --Kyoshi (Talk) 22:41, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- That would be ideal, I think. However, in Dust Trap's case, I believe that it was specifically named as a bug. — Raine Valen 22:43, 26 Sep 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know how that could be confirmed, unless the devs directly said it was a bug. Is that the case? --Kyoshi (Talk) 22:52, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- Mantra. InfestedHydralisk 22:55, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- You'll have to elaborate on that point. Do you mean it ignored Mantra's reduction, or are you stating that it was found out that it's earth damage even though it ignores armor by using mantra (which I already know and which doesn't qualify it as a bug)? --Kyoshi (Talk) 22:56, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- I believe that Kim Chase did, in fact, confirm it. I'm fairly sure, but not positive. I'll check. — Raine Valen 23:06, 26 Sep 2010 (UTC)
- @Infested: Y'didn't read too closely. I was checking whether the damage you're suggesting we use mantras to detect should be noted on the wiki as an anomaly or a bug. As for the comment directly above your single-word post, I wasn't sure whether the armor-ignoring typed damage had been confirmed as a bug, or whether it was just an anomaly. --Kyoshi (Talk) 00:17, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well, turns out that I didn't actually check that. I probably meant to, but then lost interest. Do you still care? — Raine Valen 21:53, 18 Oct 2010 (UTC)

Lists[edit]
I guess you didn't like my layout. O.o --The Emmisary 23:09, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with it, really. It's just that the page would've gotten obscenely long. :P — Raine Valen 23:10, 26 Sep 2010 (UTC)
- On a related note, I find it funny that the spike skill listing ended up being in practically reverse order (with the exception of "Follow-Up", they're totally backward: Assist -> Open -> Prep -> Support). The addition of "afterspike" would further conform to the backward trend. — Raine Valen 23:16, 26 Sep 2010 (UTC)

"never do it in PvP"[edit]
I don't remember Gaile saying never use keyboard macros in PvP. Do you happen to have the quote handy? (My memory was that it was situational and that the general proviso of don't let the keyboard play the game for you applied to both PvP and PvE — of course, that's what I prefer to believe, so...I'm not trusting my recollection.) If you don't have it handy, I'll see if I can find it. Thanks! — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:11, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- I haven't got any diffs saved, but I'm fairly certain (like 99.9972%) that she said "don't macro PvP". — Raine Valen 2:52, 29 Sep 2010 (UTC)
- I gotta admit that sounds more like Gaile than what I'm remembering. :-/ I'll see what I can find and post it here, for future reference. (In the unlikely even it's wildly different from what you said above, ...well, that bridge can be burned if we get there.) Thanks for checking. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:08, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- The topic was something about some specific keyboard or mouse (I think it was "GSomething"), if that helps you find it. — Raine Valen 3:12, 29 Sep 2010 (UTC)
- It was one of Logitech's cruddy G series keyboards that cost $130 US but use the same 25 cent rubber membranes the rest of their keyboards do. They feel awful. For reference. I'm in the middle of cleaning this HHKB, and even though I'm typing without any of the keycaps on, it still feels nicer than a Logitech. I don't see why people need macro keys anyway; there are already like 100 keys for you to use not counting capitals. –Jette 03:19, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

- in case you didn't see Lania's post. Short story: Gaile said PvP-no; PvE-absolutely (except: when macro grows up and turns into a bot).
- Jette: I have programmable mouse keys that are bound to the things like next/prev target/item, called targets, and so forth. Essential? No, but it saves me from some serious carpal tunnel. I'm happy with some of the logitech keyboards (although, I agree some are not much better than using an iPhone for typing). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:29, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- I guess my standards are a tad higher since I have to type on the blasted thing for ~6-8 hours a day, where most players just hit WASD. I don't see the point in having extra keys, myself; I've gone and dropped about forty, but whatever floats your boat, I guess. What kind of a macro would be useful for GW, anyway? Anything better than "activate 2 skills with one key" is pretty much a ban. –Jette 02:48, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

- Comfort depends a lot on size, shape, posture, and other things that have nothing to do with how well put together the keyboard is. If it works for someone else, I could care less; it's all about fit-for-purpose. I guess I was ambiguous about what I have programmed — it's my mouse, not my keyboard. In GW, the scroll-right/left function is bound to target next/previous foe. The same function switches tabs in Excel/IE/Firefox. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 03:22, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Oy[edit]
I'm shit with mesmers. But I'm trying to put together a decent PVE mesmer build using domination magic (lolpanic). So far I've got Panic, guilt, Wastrels worry and Chaos storm. Got any suggestions? --Master Briar 00:49, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Maybe? Well, empathy wouldn't really be useful, maybe if foes arent in range of hexed-with-panic foe, it becomes usful. Hows this Demonic Fahrir talk 08:08, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- I would drop Diversion for Mistrust. Diversion doesn't really help in a quick battle. (except vs monks that keep spamming heals) InfestedHydralisk 13:55, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Halogod suggested to add Diversion, i never use diversion in pve o.O id go for something like this. or maybe Ineptitude when stuff cant be knocked down or Power Block against the Djinn..
Cough anyway, the first one i posted is AN example of what you can use as Panic Demonic Fahrir talk 09:26, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- I completely shitstopmed everything I looked at with this bar:
- This was before Overload nerf and Wastrel's Demise buff, so I'd sub in Wastrel's Demise for Overload. Mistrust and Sig Ether are optional; sub in whatever you want there. I like Mistrust because it's an awesome cover for Wastrel's (they either take lolwtfbbq damage or lolwtfbbqdamage because mesmers are broken), even against solo mobs when Panic isn't godlike. Sig Ether is for the same thing: when there's only one or two mobs left, you can Wastrel's and Cry/Mistrust your energy out to mop them up (Channeling stops being awesome against big mobs, too), then recover with Sig Ether. Flesh is also easily substituted for any res. I take Flesh because I pugged through most of PvE because H/H is kitten-kicking boring; the thing is, no one in a pug knows what a res is for, so Flesh with lolnorecharge is awesome.
- The build's obviously best against big mobs, but once basically soloed all but one or two mobs, your party should be fine, anyway. — Raine Valen 22:08, 18 Oct 2010 (UTC)
