| Saoshang Trail | |
The narrow Saoshang Trail curves with the southern edge of the central mountain range as it connects Shing Jea Monastery to Seitung Harbor. It is the only available pass that lies south of the mountains. The trail itself is not without dangers, as mantids are known to wander the trail and hide in trees to ambush travelers.

[edit] Notes
- Complete exploration of this area will yield about 0.5% to the Canthan Cartographer title track.
- These quests affect the spawns in this area:
- Vanquisher runs of this area without active quests requires defeating around 30 foes. Including quest influences, it has been reported to range from 24 to 37.
- It is advisable to enter from Seitung Harbor, since you will gain the benefit of having a party size of 6.
- Despite the small number of foes, this area is highly lethal to ill-prepared parties. The necromancer mantids are capable of causing party-wide spike damage, while the monk mantids are highly competent healers.
- Be very careful of the hidden mantids that will drop down all around your party as you approach seemingly alone hatchlings.
- The lonely Mantid Monitor Hatchling near Seitung Harbor can be pulled with a longbow or flatbow to avoid taking it on together with all the hidden spawns, but only if you start from Shing Jea Monastery.
