Krisp/Krunch disapperance in Kamadan

Have been looking all day for Krunch/Krisp and Brrnadette/Brrrta in Kamadan in order to exchange cc shards for a hat/token. All 4 are in Lion's Arch, as reported by a friend but they seem to have disappeared from Kamadan. Is this a game glitch? I know I saw them there yesterday but did not have the cc shards to trade at that time. Hoping that it gets fixed because I do not have the abililty to get to LA. Thanks. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.253.77.142 (talk) at 03:24, 2 January 2015‎ (UTC).

They're there. The four of them are at the south side of Kamadan. --Silver Edge 05:35, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I see what you mean now. Those four NPCs no longer appear in Lion's Arch nor Kamadan districts that were created before the first Winterday finale began (e.g. Lion's Arch America district 1, Kamadan America 1 to 3, and Lion's Arch and Kamadan International 1), but they continue to appear in Lion's Arch and Kamadan districts that were created after the first finale began (e.g. Kamadan Asia Korean district 1 [probably because the district was empty and was only created when my character map traveled there], Lion's Arch America 5 and higher, Kamadan America 5 and higher). So just go to a high-numbered Kamadan district (e.g. America 5) and those NPCs will be there. This bug is the opposite of the bug that I noticed after the end of the Halloween event. --Silver Edge 10:21, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

question about buying character slots bank and campaigns

If I buy a key code for EOTN for a friend and I get the key code. Can I give the key code to my friend to unlock EOTN?

Sure, but bear in mind that the key code can only be used once. So as long as you don't consume the key code before giving it to your friend, your friend will be able to unlock EOTN. However, your friend will also need at least one other campaign on their account in order to be able to travel to EOTN the expansion.
Side note: There are no xunlai bank slots or character slots included with the standalone Eye of the North expansion. -Chieftain Alex 18:14, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

recover deleted character

Can I recover a character accidentally deleted? Her name was Aikiko Khan, an elementalist. From Factions

You can try with support. But afaik they haven't restored any characters in years. Software change and the roll-back tool isn't working any more. Something like that. Steve1 (talk) 11:47, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

skill usage

the skill bar has only 8 slots, is there anyway to have more slots or another skill bar or three?

No. Rodan (talk) 04:39, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
Indeed no way to have more than 8 skills. Hence Bar compression troubles, which play a major role in PvP. This also explains why some skills such as Master of Magic are underused.--Ruine User Ruine Eternelle Ruine Eternelle.jpg Eternelle 08:48, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

Accounts linking

Hello! I would like to understand the details of linking the GW and GW2 accounts and possible consequences of that. Although some principles are described in the Hall of Monuments article, some important details are missed. Let's assume that before linking we have this:

  • gw_account@example.com + gw_password -> login to Guild Wars client (+ character name) and to ArenaNet account; there we can see our Account Name and Display Name in the form 5642XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-2FE10A1DXXXX
  • gw2_account@example.com + gw2_password -> login to Guild Wars 2 client and to ArenaNet account as well

Before linking, we cannot use the gw_account in Guild Wars 2 client and vice versa, this will result in error message. It's quite clear that to link these two accounts we should first login to ArenaNet account using gw2_account (not gw_account), then go to the Account Management page and input both gw_account and gw_password in the corresponding fields. What then will happen with both our names and passwords? In particular, will they both usable as before or one of them will become non-usable and may be forever banned for registration in ArenaNet account system? --66.102.9.8 14:56, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

When I linked my accounts, my GW1 information (email/password) was effectively removed, and was replaced by all of my GW2 credentials. I believe this combining is a necessary step to make the two accounts into one (i.e. sharing the same email login ID).
You may be able to go back and change the passwords so that they are not the same, but I have never tried. If you'd like further details, you will likely have to contact GW2 Support (top right corner, "Submit a request"). G R E E N E R 19:47, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Thank you! I thought approximately the same, but was not sure and didn't want to risk (we may like some emails more than others by some reasons). OK, I also imagined three possible scenarios of linking, it would be nice to mention them because they are real for different people:
1) We have GW account with some campaigns and want to register and link GW2 (maybe first a free account, with upgrade in the future), what should we do? Can we do it by our own without asking ArenaNet support, if possible? There is a link "Register" on ArenaNet account page, but apparently it suggests to create another account, not simply add GW2 to the existing account (I never tried).
2) We have GW2 account and want to buy some GW campaigns (with HoM of course) and link them to GW2, what should we do in such case?
3) We already have both GW and GW2 accounts, but they are separate, how to link them? (we have an answer from the article and your reply).
--66.102.9.30 13:18, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Good points, but I don't have answers for all of them. Anet has been changing their processes over time. Below are my best guesses:
  1. All accounts are attached to an email, free or otherwise. You can only link one GW account to one GW2 account. I believe you can still register them manually. If you have any concerns, contacting support would be wise. Also, if you make a mistake (like linking accounts incorrectly), contact support.
  2. Add your campaigns to the GW1 account, like you normally would. I believe that is still handled at the GW1 log-in screen.
  3. If you find that the linking process has changed, or could be clarified further, please let us know!

GW2 Glider Wings

I have purchased Glider wings and I'm level 80, however even though I can see the wings as they would look attached to me character within the Warddrobe mode, when I go to play the game, the wings are not there. Is there something special I have to do besides click on the wings themselves (which isn't working) in order to get them on my character for the game, please advise anybody as any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have died three times from jumping off great heights thinking my Glider wings would appear when I was airborne. (Not sure how to make them work) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 50.113.41.10 (talk) at 07:10, 19 January 2016‎ (UTC).

Hi there, you are asking on the wrong wiki. This wiki is about the original Guild Wars. You want to be using the Guild Wars 2 wiki or even better, the Guild Wars 2 Forum.
To answer your question though,
  • You can currently only fly on the new HoT maps. This will be changed on the 26th when you will be able to fly on all the other maps.
  • You will have to complete the prologue story for HoT, Rally to Maguuma
  • Then you will have to acquire enough experience to level up your gliding mastery, and unlock it with Mastery Points.
Hope this helps. G R E E N E R 08:08, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

I have purchased glider wings and when I go into wardrobe, I can see them on my back however when I close the wardrobe down, there are no glider wings. What do I have to do to keep the glider wings on, please anybody advise, I am obviously missing something? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.8.130.179 (talk) at 22:36, 23 February 2016‎ (UTC).

As I said above, this is the wiki for the original GW, not GW2. With that said:
  • There are two types of gliders:
    1. Those that also come with a backpack skin
    2. Those that don't come with a backpack skin
  • If you bought type 1, which is normally around 700 gems, then you should have been given an extra item which lets you transmutate your current backpack into having the wings (you'll also have to check the box to show your backpack).
  • If you bought type 2, which is normally around 400 gems, then your glider cannot act as a backpack skin.
Next time, swing by the Players Helping Players forum for good answers to GW2 questions. G R E E N E R 23:40, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Time Remaining

I have been really enjoying Guild Wars 2 and I've been thinking about purchasing Guild Wars 1 to see what I missed. Is it likely the GW1 servers will be up and active for long enough to get the full experience?--98.192.98.11 05:03, 11 March 2016 (UTC)

The last I believe I heard on the matter (and I'm sure someone will come along and correct me), running the servers for GW1 is not intensive. Be aware though, stepping from GW2 to GW1 is a pretty big shock. GW1 was quite good for the time, but it is sadly 11 years old. G R E E N E R 10:05, 11 March 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for the response. Follow up question, if I get Guild Wars Platinum Edition and want to maybe get Factions or Nightfall later on, would I be able to get Guild Wars Trilogy and link Nightfall and Factions to the pre-existing account?

My suggestions is that you purchase the Guild Wars: The Complete Collection. One of the great benefits of the later games, specifically Nightfall, is the addition of heroes. Having them around helps quite a bit, especially in a world where the cities may be quite empty of other players (there will always be henchmen to help, but they can be second class). You can start a character in the Nightfall campaign and have a hero from the start.
If you're purchasing for the story, though, then feel free to purchase Prophesies, and you can add the codes to the Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North later. G R E E N E R 05:01, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Getting past Minister Cho's when I have no quests

High I have searched Shing Jea island for more quests and watched the cut seen like 5 times. It says we are gonna go into the area but it doesn't take me there. also the gate is still closed and master togo isn't there.

Good grief, you know how to relay all relevant info, don't you?
I assume you have done the quest A Formal Introduction and are now in the outpost Minister Cho's Estate, north of Shing Jae Monastery and Tsumei Village.
If that is the case, then you've reached your first mission outpost. On the map, the outpost sign looks different than the other 2 I just mentioned, like a circle.
In that case, your Party Formation panel's got "Enter Mission" between "Leave" and "Search" at the bottom. Pushing that button will start the mission which you'll need to finish in order to progress with the game. Don't forget to fill up your party with henchmen before you do so. Steve1 (talk) 20:51, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
Steve!, thank you that was it! =)
No problem. Enjoy your first play-through!
Don't give up when you get to the Luxons and Kurzicks. There are a few things there which might wanna make you tear your hair out. Hang in there, I think it's worth it.
The best piece of advice though: Join a guild. One with active and helpful members.

Game Basics

Do I have to form a party with other human players via the internet, or can I form a party of in-game characters? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.66.114.139 (talk) at 02:48, 21 August 2016‎ (UTC).

There are in-game characters you can join with. Henchmen can be found in every city, and heroes can be developed if you have Nightfall or Eye of the North. G R E E N E R 06:46, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

I owned the games before, but have lost track of my user name and password. I was just going to purchase the 3 pack, but when I read the compatibility notes, I didn't see Windows 10. I am pretty psyched to know that you are running 10 and playing Guildwars !! So inclined to buy it now.

i love this game and cannot remember my password after 5 years of not playing, please help

I use to play this game as a child, i would wake up before school during events, stay up late at least every third day for alt east 5 years, this game is the only game i have ever dedicated a significant amount of time to and if there is any way at all the tech support could help me be able to call back on the single most amazingly nostalgic gaming experience of my life i would forever love them all and remember it every single time i logger on, please if there is any way sent a promising response and i will gladly recall any information that i am ably to remember to prove that i am infant the same Guild Wars loving kid inside that bough this game and dedicated years of there life to it ooh so long ago.

Please it would mean much more to me than just logging on to play any old game!, the avatar of Balthazar awaits my return!!

Guild wars beyond

Hi I can't find out where to buy guild wars beyond. Have they stopped selling it or could you tell me where to get it please

They never sold Beyond. It was a chain of free game updates which can be played as long as you have the corresponding campaign. Steve1 (talk) 16:55, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
Namely Prophecies, Factions and Eye of the North campaigns.TikkaLeFem (talk) 19:08, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
War in Kryta requires Prophecies and Eye of the North, and either proph nm completion or the primary in eotn completed. Hearts of the North comes after WiK is complete. Winds of Change requires Factions be completed in NM. For WiK I'd recommend following the guides here on the quests wiki pages as it can get confusing the first time, particularly the dialogues in the HoM and Ice Cliff Chasms during Ebon Vanguard Allies. 71.169.162.235 01:10, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Pockmark Flats

I am on the quest to destroy the Fire somethings (They are burning everything around Regent Valley). I have to enter Pockmark Flats, and when I get to the bridge and go forward, the files will not load. I am stuck, and I have tried restarting the game but I still cannot get in. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I went in the game and looked. The quest is Fires in the east.

I finally got into Pockmark Flats. The only thing that I did differently was NOT to talk to the collector at the bridge (entrance).

-- 104.191.122.195 06:17, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

That seems very odd. Have you downloaded all of the game files? If you haven't, it may be the case that some files and assets are downloading still as you're exploring. That's the only scenario I can imagine that fits what you describe. G R E E N E R 07:00, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Yak's Bend

I have completed the Nolani quest twice, but I can't get the files to load so that I enter Yak's Bend. Any ideas?

I've noticed that when traveling, my screen shows files downloading each time before I enter the location. It usually takes a second or two.

I don't know what to do about this.

I bought the trilogy and downloaded it to my computer, so why does it have to keep downloading files everytime that I travel?

104.191.122.195 03:09, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Maybe there are patches that I can download to correct this.

104.191.122.195 03:14, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Guild Wars is a massive game with a very large amount of files it needs to run. When installing and loading the first time, it will download the basic and common files first. Then every time you zone to a new area or portion of the game, it checks for any missing files and downloads them on the spot. It doesn't download all the files immediately as some of them are downloaded in the background while you're playing the game. Eventually all the files will have been downloaded to your computer and loading for areas becomes becomes near-instantaneous. Until then, you will see some file loading times.
Alternatively, you can use command line arguments to force all the files to be downloaded at once (also known as the -image command). This results in a much longer download, but all files will be on your computer afterwards. This eradicates any further downloading while playing. Do note that attempting and using this method requires some careful reading, or/and an advanced knowledge of executable programs. - Infinite - talk 09:16, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Maintain/upkeep a spell

Hi, I would like to know what "Maintaining a spell" means, and how to do it. ie: trying to portal jump using recall, and SaO chain for cartography purposes. Thanks for any help on this matter. 99.148.184.44 09:24, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

Every profession has a certain amount of energy regeneration; for example an assassin has +4 regen. A skill with upkeep will stay active indefinitely, but at the cost of some regen; for example Recall will stay active, but the assassin will only have +3 energy regen due to the -1 from Recall. The caster can remove the maintained enchantment by double-clicking on the effect.
In the case of recall, removing the enchantment effect will cause the caster to teleport to the target's location. Others with more cartography knowledge may be able to give you more advice, but I would start looking at pages such as Portal jump. G R E E N E R 14:31, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
For SaO specifically, it is important to cast Recall on the pet you will remember it being on, as well as ending up on the very end of the SaO chain. After selecting the pet of your choice, casting Recall will target that pet. What Recall does when it stops being maintained is teleporting the user to the target that was selected during casting.
Per example, a White Tiger pet was selected and Recall was cast. At first, nothing happens. The upkeep monitor will display one maintained Recall. If the pet then moves a good deal away, you can double-click that maintained version of Recall and it will no longer be maintained. As a result, you will shadow step to the White Tiger.
How a SaO chain works is using multiple pets and having SaO on their owners' skill bars. When pets shadow step, they sometimes freeze in their new location. They no longer wander around, nor will they attempt to run back to their owners. For a higher chance of this happening, it is wise to flag the heroes as close to the portal you want to SaO chain past. Then you can set up the chain. Cast the Recall on the "end of the chain" pet you will use. This pet's goal is to end up as far past the portal as possible. The other pets are only there to get that pet to its farthest location beyond the portal.
The first bit is trickiest: you have to get the three pets to freeze after they shadow step. Select one of the flagged heroes and use the SaO skill on any of the heroes' skill bars. The pet will then shadow step towards that targeted hero. Check to see if the pet still wanders around. If it has stopped moving, good, it's frozen. Shadow step the other pets the same way until they are all frozen. Keep trying until they are all frozen and then move onto the next step.
You will use the farthest pet past the portal as your target for the other pets. They will now attempt to shadow step towards that pet. If one of them ends up farther beyond the portal that the first one, that becomes your next target. Keep repeating this until the pets are getting almost out of range. Now find a good spot for the pet you used Recall on to sit beyond the portal. The best spots are usually diagonally away from it.
The portal is not just a wall-like object, you will actually zone anywhere within a certain area around the portal. This zone is usually rectangular in design, and invisible to the player. In other words, try to maneuver the pets to sit a reasonable distance away from the portal, and out of a direct line of sight from it. An example could be this:
________ * End of chain pet

[Portal]
          + Heroes
    You '
The box is the portal "zone" (the area in which you will trigger zoning to the area where the portal normally leads). When you now stop maintaining Recall, your character should teleport like so:
           You '
________ * End of chain pet

[Portal]
          + Heroes
If that happens, you won't travel to the zone as you normally would, and instead have access to the area past the portal, to explore for Cartography, to snap screenshots, to find the end of the world, whatever you want to do. Just take note that if you walk back towards the portal, you may accidentally enter the zoning area and travel to the next area as if you entered the portal normally.
It's not very concise, but that's the gist of Strike as One chaining for Cartography! - Infinite - talk 18:17, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

The only thing you can do is work with Support via a ticket by telling them every detail that you can (you can submit the ticket anonymously; gw1 and gw2 share support sites). Tell them where and when you purchased the game. Give them details about your characters, etc. Basically, give support information which only you would know.
