Does it work?[edit]
Does this quest even work? It seems all paths are blocked.
- There's one easy-to-miss path, took me a while to find it. I couldn't do the quest though, slowdown hexes... those motherfuckers.-- anguard 19:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
The yellow pings led me to a closed door.69.129.199.244 19:36, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

can anyone do a map for this? the pings just don't seem to be sending me anywhere, i go to where it says, then it sends me back and forth between 2?

Now I feel like a tard :( , I managed to get 7 chars through, and even managed to kill a coldfire by leading it near the ice elementals and wanding it to death. Screen http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2511/4047837242_40431e072a_b.jpg 69.129.199.244 20:19, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

- Yeah, it seems there is a large gap between the 2nd and 3rd pings, so its easy to get lost. Once you reach the 2nd ping, just keep going through the doorway. --MushaTalk 10:00, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]
Quest title seems to be a rather obvious reference to MacBeth[1] Sirrush 20:05, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- You could have added it yourself, but I took the liberty.-- anguard 20:15, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- The line is also in Harry Potter a few times, which I'm guessing is triviaing Macbeth. --24.159.219.162 21:58, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Also the title of a Ray Bradbury book. 98.236.103.190 22:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- ...which in turn was a reference to Macbeth. Read the article that was linked.-- anguard 22:44, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
also album name "Something Wicked This Way Comes" from the heavy metal band "Iced Earth"
- "...which in turn was a reference to Macbeth. Read the article that was linked." -- FreedomBound 16:31, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hasn't stopped them before tbh. They claim Ride the Lightning is a reference to Metallica even though it obviously predates them. Mr J 16:35, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- Pretty sure they had to use Metallica just for the PR. -- FreedomBound 16:39, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- Pretty sure they're just retarded and don't really understand the concept of references beyond using recognisable phrases whenever possible. A recent example being Dont Fear The Reaper which (in both cases it's used) doesn't really have anything to do with the song. Mr J 16:44, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

King Frozenwind Dialog[edit]
Does anyone else see this dude's dialog when u talk to him warning of a uwsc nerf? he says too many things have been dying in the Underworld. Idk just though it might be some kind of clever foreshadowing... 72.49.100.128 20:34, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Heh I thought about that as well, may or may not be, but here's to hoping (or not!) --Master Saji 20:37, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. I'd do some changes If I were Dhumm. Markus Clouser 22:01, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree I think it's either forshadowing a UW Change in GW1 or perhaps just hinting that Dhuum will be more active/released in GW2. Either way it's foreshadowing what I hope is a fairly soon change!76.22.94.20 22:18, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'd take the dialogue down the lore road. As for a UWSC nerf, well, you know, they could just do the nerf and not waste time trying to hint at it in dialogue if such is the case. As for UWSC nerf in general: "Yeah, right." ~~000.00.00.00~~ 23:32, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- From the official page at guildwars.com, I suspect that there may be more quests added in this series as the 31st approaches. Just rampant speculation though really. 138.67.78.126 23:37, 26 October 2009 (UTC) EDIT: it actually states that quite explicitly "Brave the dangers of the Underworld on a series of spine-tingling quests for Mad King Thorn, available this Halloween season only." I fell a little foolish now... 138.67.78.126 23:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- lol i just thought "woot, nice whoopydoo lore:O" when i read it. lol uwsc. - Wuhy 00:08, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps the halloween quest series works like the quests during the Dragon Festival. Batchie 12:11, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I feel it should be mentioned that this is most likely a breaking of the Fourth Wall (sort of). You'd have to be pretty dim not to spontaneously think of the rampant UWSCing as the reason for Dhuum's recuperation. That said, this quest line is going to be amazing; I love it. My personal speculation is that Dhuum's recuperation will be met and resolved by the end of Halloween, or (hopefully) it will escalate beyond Halloween into a UW change similar to the Tomb of Primeval Kings that will simultaneously act as a nerf, occurring whenever they finish shaping the idea to completion. Now that Dhuum is definitely part of things, it seems to heavy to conclude in a holiday event. This is 4th chapter material in my opinion (even though it's been done already). Also, I am now officially a Dhuum fan. Abaddon is small time.Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 21:47, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- It isn't so much of breaking the fourth wall, as it is giving a lore explanation of a nerf. Much like how Kepkhet Marrowfeast and Aurek the Scarab Hunter were lore reasons to nerfing the griffon farm, or, as you said yourself, Tomb's change was a lore explanation for the PvP Hall of Heroes moving to HA. Personally, I am hoping for a new instance, along with nerfs to the current UW. This way, the old quests can stay, but also so can a lot of new lore and content. -- Konig/talk 21:55, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yea, a breaking of the fourth wall is typically more obvious and aggressive. For example, if the King had said "...there have been too many deaths in UW lately blah blah (Damn you UWSC'ers!)" then THAT would have been a breaking of the fourth wall. Without deliberately addressing the audience, you're not "technically" breaking the wall. Karate Jesus 21:58, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Besides, not like breaking the fourth wall is new. It is done constantly in the tutorials: Pre-Searing primary quests, the optional tutorial in Factions and Nightfall, and the Hero Tutorial in Nightfall and Eye of the North. Though the fourth wall is only broken in starter locations. -- Konig/talk 23:04, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- fourth wall; pew, pew, pew. - Wuhy 23:12, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I know, after posting I realized it wasn't entirely accurate, but I think you get the point. TOPK was a lore-nerf but was based entirely on lore (Abaddon onoe let's go Zaishen!), whereas this quest line blends lore with player activity (at least that is what I think is being suggested by the quest). Minigame in the quest[edit]
Get the chalice of corruption quest or a double vamp so you have -2 degen and see if u can make it to the king before you degen out. it's a fun race Also, you can use birthday cupcakes for a bonus speed boost --adrin 20:43, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Ha ha ha, that is very good fun trying to do it. I did it but only just, used Red Rock candy and Essence though. Flaming Hot Chilli 08:34, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Infobox[edit]
The campaign section in the infobox should list "Prophecies and Nightfall" not "Core", as that section is suppose to list the campaign where the quest giver is located in as per Template:Quest infobox. The template should be modified so it can list 2 campaigns in that section. --Silver Edge 20:50, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Sugar Rush[edit]
when you click on sugar rush pic it goes to the jpg file and not the page as all the others do. I would fix this if i knew what i was doing lol Red Qyeen 21:02, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'd change it, but the "stance" I'm assuming has a different effect (time) than the Sugar Rush enchantment spell from consumables. Meaning, someone will probably create a separate skill page for it. I'm at work so have no clue outside of what I'm reading. (Clobimon Craiggy 21:14, 26 October 2009 (UTC))

Dying in the Underworld during this quest does not stop progress on Survivor titles.[edit]

- That was an excellent answer. I almost tested it, got lagged/bodyblocked by a group of smite crawlers and ended up with 1 health. Is this halloween quest over?[edit]
Time stamp is at my signature. Whenever I proceed with this quest, talking to the Avatar of Grenth under the required avatar form, it seems to load the underworld. However, Chabek Village suddenly gets loaded. I tried this from Chantry of Secrets. - Decollete 14:17, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, Halloween ended at midnight last night. -- Wyn talk 14:18, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- If you have this quest active, and try to join the Underworld after Halloween you will be send to Chahbek Village (with a Nightfall Character)!
- The same thing happened to me but i got sent to Shing Jea Monastery because of my factions character. King Goldenheart
- A Prophecies character doing the same doesn't get sent back to pre-searing Ascalon though :) --Arduin 14:25, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm curious. Do they get sent back to post-searing Ascalon City? - Decollete 09:40, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- Of course. This is the case with open beta events and, simply, all areas in which a character is in a location which gets "closed down" (this would of happened to any characters parked in Team Arena or Hero Battles before they closed, I believe). Prophecies->Post Searing Old Ascalon (or Ascalon City_, Factions->Monastery Overlook (or Shing Jea Monastery), Nightfall->Island of Shehkah (or Chahbek Village), Core->Great Temple of Balthazar. I think the two differ between "entering a restricted area" (as per above, in which sends to an outpost), or previously "parked" in a now (but then not) restricted area - whereas entering sends you to an outpost, logging onto sends you to the explorable. -- Konig/talk 10:39, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]
On my dervish I got teleported to chablek village after geting the uw loadscreen (tested again, with the same result). Someone else tried and they got transported to ascalon using a proph character. Really weird. (and I couldn't even have misclicked because you have to pass kama first) --Ellisia 10:49, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Tested again with 2 chars, 1 din't have the waiting game, and took the quest this year (same result, was teleported to shing jea :P). No r3 survivor for me this year :p. --Ellisia 11:07, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yup happened to me too. Sigh. Also wish they would just say event ends at 11:59pm on 1st Novemeber. As although it does end on 2nd Nov, it's still a tad irksome. As it ends 1 minute into the 2nd. -- Salome 11:22, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Oh and it's not a bug. It's as intended. The special Halloween version of UW got closed down at the end of the event. Therefore everytime you try and entered the closed zone it will pop you back to your starting location. -- Salome 11:37, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Then I think they should remove the option to pick the quests after that point (I guess they keep him in there so you can still get the reward for the quests). --Ellisia 12:25, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Remove Disguise Bug/Anomaly[edit]
Not sure if this should be put on the main page, but if you use a Transmogrifier Tonic during this quest, the disguise gets removed. This gives you the plus side of your attributes like Energy Storage and it allows you to gain health and energy from pcons to make the quest easier, but if you do not have these (such as playing on a Warrior) you will lose HP and energy, making the quest more difficult. 77.86.23.213 19:56, 24 October 2018 (UTC)
