Latest Murro Report
- → moved from Talk:War in Kryta
"BLIMM: All these questions... not useful. Not helping us get things done. Less Q Q, more pew pew."
Listen, I know you obviously don't care about what a single fan thinks, let alone a disgruntled one, but I officially hate War in Kryta. You should be reading this paragraph in an irate and appalled mental voice. You have seriously crossed the line. Are you actually concerned about the stuff that you're putting out? Do you give a shit or are you just doing it to get it done and be lol-tastic? I'm tired of this silly-willy bullshit you're pawning off as preparatory content for GW2. And yes, it is silly-willy, no matter how awesome your black plague infected lead designer says it is. It's worse than silly-willy it's shitty-silly-willy. It doesn't even make sense. Holy Jesus, Murro is reporting on war-time events and asking a question about a power core, so out of the blue Blimm is going to say "Less QQ more Pew pew?" The shitty forum culture that you all love so much is why we have fucking forums.
Who did this? Because I'm losing respect for the people who I stubbornly tried to remain faithful in. Please respond and tell me what you're thinking so that I might find some semblance of empathy with you for what you're doing to Guild Wars. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 20:10, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- Typically, I would tell you to get a sense of humor or something, but you're actually pseudo-right. It was wildly out of place on that page....and in that context. However, I think "just doing it to get it done" is exactly where Anet is now. They really don't seem to care. Either that or they're terrible at reading their fan-base and knowing how to stretch out content. Karate Jesus 20:19, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'll say it with less profanity: Wrong way to break the 4th wall. --190.0.10.72 20:54, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- I thought it was quite funny. Wouldn't have worked in a different context, but it's the sort of thing typical of the asura. The way you talk about it is like everything in the War in Kryta is in that same tone, which just isn't true. In fact, the Gwen and Thackeray thing is probably some of the most compelling writing in the whole of GW, next to some of the early Nightfall bits. --Santax (talk · contribs) 21:00, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- @Aliceandsven lol at ur rage, you really are mad a pop culture reference that anet made not like 90% of the game is pop culture references OH WAIT.- Zesbeer 22:04, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- QQ really doesn't fit, it made me think "wtf?!" too. Where's an Asura going to pick that up? Their alphabet doesn't look like ours. --smøni 22:08, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- Don't they have one of them fancy novelists to write this kind of crap? Unless they're paying him purely in royalties (sucker), they should be asking him since it's, y'know, his job. You want to know why so many people went nuts over the plot and character interaction in games like Dragon Age? It's because they hired (gasp) actual writers to do this kind of thing (they also hired competent voice actors, but that's another problem entirely). –Jette 00:42, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- Zesbeer, I was mad too but I took the time to say what I wished coherently. I'll address your point of view when you can speak it clearly.
- The thing with the Asura is that they're not like this. They were dumbed down and it all started with Zinn's Task and was made poignantly obvious with Trial of Zinn. Zinn wasn't a major plot-point with some humor (and it is supposed to be a major plot point), it now feels more like humor with some plot-development.
- The "pew pew" is so far out of place, even with how stupid the Asura have become. It's really really sad that Anet can't pull together some sort of creative humor appropriate for Asura in Guild Wars. Instead they took stale crumbs of stale forum/internet culture and just sort of tossed it in out of no where like they were playing darts or something.
- And yes, all of War in Kryta is suffering. All of Beyond will likely suffer, and we won't see another ounce of serious development lore & quest-wise from Anet until GW2 is out of beta (and releasing on time, hopefully).
- If it isn't Murro's shaky and inconsistent reporting stance it's the Asura and their fucking ADHD robots. If it isn't the Asura it's Inquisitor Bauer prancing through fields of Krytan flowers and slaying the Shining Blade with a squeeky-hammer. If it isn't the mentally deficient Mantle, it's Gwen and Thackery's "Oh so compelling and touching" love story (please re-read their interactions from Wintersday to present and tell me with honesty that it isn't the cheesiest most cliche and boring build up to sex and legendary babies you've ever seen). Oh and it's not like the dramatic love story even matters anymore now that they went and told us they're getting married and making the Ebonhawke. It was marginally compelling back when we weren't sure who Gwen-Babby-Daddy was (marginally). So while other parts of War in Kryta aren't being butchered like the Asura are, they're not shiny and neat either. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 00:45, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- This is more or less aside, but when Blimm says "Less Q Q", while it is a -reference- to the internet term "QQ", the Q's he is actually referring to are questions. Note how all of Murro's lines are "Q: (whatever question)". So no, Asuran alphabet doesn't enter into it. Nor does the plumage. - Tanetris 03:32, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- "out of beta (and releasing on time...)" Alright, no more Portal for you. Actually, now that I think about it, it's rather contradictory that you can enjoy something as completely tongue-in-cheek as Portal and yet be angry at the elements of humor in Guild Wars. Personally, I'm glad the game (and the designers) aren't taking it (and themselves) too seriously. Unfortunately, many of the players here are. Arshay Duskbrow 03:49, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- Two key differences: one, Portal was actually funny. Two, Portal never tried to take itself seriously from the beginning. We've got an author writing three novels and a design team making a real storyline for GW2, and it's obvious that GW1 tried to take itself seriously throughout the initial three campaigns. They suddenly segued into this wackiness right away, and without any warning (well, other than the fact that every other facet of the game has been degrading as well). –Jette 03:52, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- Arshay, that is all a matter of perspective. We are different people of different perspectives with different interests and different convictions. From my perspective, Guild Wars Beyond and specifically War in Kryta are serious events that need to be handled as such. I'm trying to enjoy a major event in the lore, it's coming very slowly though, and to be given this funny business feels like I'm being cheated. There is a way to excersize a "lack of over-seriousness" but this isn't it, in my opinion.
- And in fact, the key difference is that I am not a developer for a multi-kajillion dollar video game
empireindustry. And the point I made stands despite my Portal craze. It's irrelevant. But thankyou for noticing my deliberate hypocrisy Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 04:08, 19 May 2010 (UTC)- Also, Tanetris thank you for pointing that out. - "Oh and it's not like the dramatic love story even matters anymore now that they went and told us they're getting married and making the Ebonhawke." I have to say though, the story seems to go the other way. Maybe Lt. Thackeray will end up making babies with Livia or Evennia. -- Large 04:26, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

"Victory is Mine!" do i need to prove my point further? that's just the warrior shouts i know that there is more pop culture references in this game that i can point out to you if you please but my point is that this game is filled with them i mean they have bosses named after pop culture references ect. this really comes to a surprise to you i mean REALLY?!- Zesbeer 07:25, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- You have to realise that the humor exhibited in this War in Kryta, and future 'content' is more for Linsey and the teams sake then ours. I hardly known of anyone who thought the Trial was funny, but Linsey and the staff think it's the bomb. It's out of place, but a lot of this War in Kryta is quite ridicilious. I'll care more for it when we can do something more than running around triggering dialogue... if I wanted to read a book.... ~~000.00.00.00~~ 08:07, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- It's not just the dialogue in my opinion... This whole thing is an atrocious messfest. A lore quest made of random encounters, long useless dialogues and wiki researches. No lead, no information, nothing. Welcome to Prophecies again! Shall you enjoy this massive pile of crap! --Frozen 11:58, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't like the pew pew thing either. I understood the QQ bit was referring to questions, I was still annoyed with that last report. This game is crossing the line from fantasy game with some pop culture references to becoming an episode of MAD TV. Please less pop culture references and more effort into creating originals stories, characters and humour. 114.78.35.145 12:41, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- Personally, I've got nothing against the new dialogues, though I can see your point. However, I do think that Blimm's line is a screwup, because all of his lines were references to the same thing. They should have kept it that way. --Elemonk Nibo 12:43, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- Asuras are like Deadpool, their minds are in such a elevated state that they can sometimes became aware of themselves being characters in some people's work of fiction and break the 4th wall. In other words, they are sometimes go beyond 'Genius' and into 'Crazy'. You may not like that, but hey, I sometimes hate gravity and its annoying habit of not letting me fly, but some things we have to cope with. Keeping that in mind, it wouldn't be weird at all if those "Q Q" where a reference to Internet's "QQ" or the "Qs" in the interview text! Anyways, we already have NPCs that DO say "gg" in PvP, it's not so weird having characters using certain terms. And if you look at the history of OUR world, it's a bad joke after another. A pope emperor? A joke! Dark Ages? A joke! Inquisition? A REALLY bad joke! All wars? The worst jokes ever! Reasons for those wars? Outstanding stupid jokes! So, anything that sounds like a bad joke, sounds like history! And we do have that in the game! Rurik? Khormir? Varesh? Shiro? They are all both part of the Tyrian history and the biggest walking jokes GW has. And please, we all know how that thing with Gwen will go, do you expect surprises? It's impossible! Everything has been written already! No way we are going to write a really original story in the 21st century, most of them are either just based or can be related to other stories. We are lucky we are getting anything at all. MithTalk 14:00, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- You guys are really over-analyzing it. I seriously doubt Anet was trying to accomplish anything except trying to connect with its audience on a comedic level by, as an IP said above, breaking the 4th wall. I can't believe how many people are criticizing them for adding a bit of humor to their new content. Whether it made you laugh or not, attempting to reach out to fans through humor is a very common practice by ALL game designers. Let go of your hate. --Musha 14:07, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- Zesbeer, if you can't see the difference in spectrum between warrior shouts and War in Kryta, then i mean REALLY?! I'll respond to the rest when I'm not caffeinated out of my mind. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 20:08, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

- @Aliceandsven you do realize that all of blimm's lines in game are from office space? and i do see the difference and i am telling you that almost everything in this game is a reference to something. @large GWW IS SURUS BUSNAS u mad?- Zesbeer 20:36, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not over-analyzing it. I'm being slapped in the face by it. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 20:10, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- Personally, I've got nothing against the new dialogues, though I can see your point. However, I do think that Blimm's line is a screwup, because all of his lines were references to the same thing. They should have kept it that way. --Elemonk Nibo 12:43, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
(Reset indent) You know I'm getting really tired of the templated responses people give to things like "if you don't like it just ignore it." Please, if you want to talk about something use your own brain and address it properly, don't just give it a quick look-over and copy paste something that has been said 10billion times before because you can't be arsed to think. I know I'm not usually too suave with my statements but I do expect semi-intelligent discourse. Again this all ties into internet culture which is sick and doesn't belong in guild wars in any form (qq, etc) Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 17:57, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- If people will just ignore it, then the company doesn't know that they don't like it. If there is an actual large player base that says that they don't like it then they could do something about it in the future. InfestedHydralisk 17:59, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Well, the 'ignore it' argument has a fundamental flaw: "What has be seen cannot be unseen". Enduring, coping and acceptance work better. It's not really a big deal. The statue of Mary my mother has stopped bleeding from its a a day ago. In this case most people just don't care because not many people read those because they are usually boring. I miss The Scribe, that guy was a bit more interesting. MithTalk 18:12, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

- (Edit conflict) I think someone needs to get their panties out of a twist. The QQ thing was nicely done in with the questions. Though it was very very very close to breaking the 4th wall, they did it in a way it didn't break the 4th wall - possibly the only way. The writing for the WiK isn't terribly, but one must admit that due to Linsey's sickness, Murro has to have been added more than intended in order to keep in line with things getting released (such as the keep). I am sure that the arresting and the release (+ the, what, 3 days of nothing during the weekdays?) were due to Linsey's sickness. This might be due to some slowness as well, and thus they did it quickly and thus wasn't the best it could be done. Also, as to who wrote it, you want a "Dave" - he's done all the WiK online writing. -- Konig/talk 20:06, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

- OK, let's say for a minute there that the "QQ" part is only for the "Q:" from the interview (which I still believe it actually has the double meaning); that is certainly not breaking the 4th wall, but... what about the "pew pew" part? It certainly looks out of place. -- Large 21:02, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Look at this
Arena Net Blog: "This is the big one folks! I’m happy to announce that we will unveil the first public hands-on demo of Guild Wars 2 at gamescom in Cologne, Germany!"
If you care so much about your fans why are you holding public tests half way across the world from the largest fucking portion of your fanbase? I guess I'm not good enough of a fan if I can't afford to fly out to Germany on your schedule? Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 01:12, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

- Aliceandsven, you are such a moron sometimes, did you bother reading the rest of the blog post? they are going to be at PAX as well. Give us Europeans a break, it is not everyday that we get the chance to have Arenanet on our home turf. --San Darkwood 11:31, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Just Curious....
Just wondering if you have ever been banned, ive looked at some of the "arguments" on some discussion pages, and i wouldnt of thought anet would of put up with it tbh, and young people that play GW will not grow up to be terrorists because they kill Sunspear Volenteers >.<, its a game.... - And he is fully entitled to his opinion on it. If he believes that that scenario will occur, it's up to him. If you think differently, you still shouldn't try to cause a confrontation of sorts. Shadow Runner 17:29, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

- I've been banned from the game once for an inappropriate name and once for griefing a dungeon speed clear, but not for stating an opinion. I wasn't very pleased with the original argument on that page, saying that replacing the human with an "ugly creature" would be an acceptable alternative and trying to cite real life policies against a video game, among other things. And it only got worse.
- "Let's make it clear, unless action is taken to remove the representation of human torture by the "good guys" soon, I will aim to bring it to the attention of mothers across the country, and I'll start my campaign a month or so before Christmas sales begin"
- Presumably, being a mother in modern day USA the only thing she's willing to do is scream at video games and rally her friends on Moms.com instead of taking responsibility for teaching her child whatever set of morals she wants them to have. These are also the same parents who let their kids watch Toddlers and Tiaras. I'd like to know what these people think is going to happen when they manage to succeed in destroying industries such as video games, film, pornography etc., leaving the world with no outlets to excercise their imagination and fantasy on, and not having any type of decent parenting to hold them together. And apparently Regina didn't want to give a shit about any other view point (Oh hai corporate overlords) and left one of the only decent discussions on this wiki to rot.
- This was satire and it's not actually how I feel.
