Norn reputation points can be earned by:
- Fighting Norn NPCs to earn their respect.
- Killing foes and obtaining shrine bonuses while under the effects of Norn Hunting Party.
- Doing quests for the Norn.
- Completing dungeons in the Far Shiverpeaks.
- Turning in an at least half-completed Hero's Handbook or Master Dungeon Guide to Tyr the Skaald
- Competing in the Norn Fighting Tournament.
Players who have reached rank 8 in the title (Slayer of Champions) can no longer accumulate Norn reputation points in Normal Mode. To achieve ranks 9 and 10 the points must be earned in Hard Mode. Players who attain rank 8 in the Norn Allegiance title tracks in Normal Mode and rank 10 in Hard Mode receive a veteran buff when they speak to a bounty NPC. These buffs do not give reputation points, but instead award an allegiance bonus every 25 kills.
[edit] Rank discrimination
Currently, a large proportion of players forming pick-up groups to farm elite missions and areas (e.g. the Fissure of Woe and the Underworld) are using a team build, commonly called "Ursanway", which is largely comprised of characters that use Ursan Blessing and few or no other skills.
As Ursan Blessing's ability is directly tied to rank in the Norn title track, these groups commonly screen for players with at least rank eight or nine in the track. As titles can be displayed, this information can be easily verified.
- (Note: This is the pivotal point for one of the largest ongoing debates in the Guild Wars community, due issues of rank discrimination and player skill choice.)
