You have broken this rule more than once this time I am putting it on the noticeboard. Nicholas the traveler is listed as a collector and thus the note needs to stay the way it was. I haven't broken the one-revert rule once, let alone multiple times, so please indicate the multiple times I have supposedly broken this rule as I've checked my contributions and I haven't been able to find any of these instances. Explain the difference when you add the prefix, and the need to change every {{unsigned ip}} to this, and what benefit it offers compared to the previous version, please. User Ryuu R.jpg Ryuu - talk 22:44, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

It means the wiki does not have to calculate the result every time the page is used. the prefix makes the wiki place the result of the include rather than including. Backsword 08:23, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Zaishen quest articles

Hi, you've been very active in fixing the current over-linking in the zaishen quest articles, so I thought you might have an opinion as to the discussion here. Thanks! --Freedom Bound 19:55, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

5 Minutes?

Now that I've done it a gazillion times, I can manage Lakeside in 5 minutes, grabbing all 5 irises. However, I left the note at 10 minutes, since I thought that was more realistic for the majority of people (many of whom won't be able to resist squashing at least one skale) not to mention time for rezoning/lag. Do you think it's better to put the possible minimum time? Or is it better to use a realistic metric? I leave it to you. Thanks.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 10:13, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Image rearranging...

Your image fixing on the avatar pages left a big white gap between the title of the Notes section and the body of it, at least on low resolutions. Any way to fix it that you know?--Fighterdoken 07:10, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Can you provide a screenshot as to how the avatar pages appear on your screen? http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/8682/avatarofgrenth.jpg This is how Avatar of Grenth appears on a 1024x768 screen resolution with the "Thumbnail size" in "My preferences" set on 180px. --Silver Edge 07:33, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Settings on default, using IE, and (like i said) low resolution :P--Fighterdoken 07:44, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I think it's caused by Internet Explorer, not low resolution, because the "big white gap" appeared on the page when I viewed it on IE with a 1024x768 screen resolution http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/8682/avatarofgrenth.jpg; so the page appears differently when viewed using IE instead of Firefox. The only fixes I can think of is to swap the locations of both images (which would only make the "big white gap" into a small white gap [1]), resize the images to make them smaller, or move both images to the bottom of the article and place them side by side horizontally of each other. --Silver Edge 08:23, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I moved the images of M.O.X to the bottom of each page, which seemed to have solved the problem. --Silver Edge 09:41, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

hey buddy

Just FYI it's etymology not trivia. I'd also like to know what it has to do with a site that exists, and I quote, "to document GuildWars". I got $1 here that says when the designers created factions they didn't have an Old Testament sitting next to them. Makes your Wikipedia link seem a tad out of place in what is otherwise a very secular game. Who am I to argue though I'm just a lowly IP that "doesn't explain removal of content". 76.20.238.253 17:39, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

The section is suppose to be named "trivia" according to Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/NPCs, which states "Please use Trivia for any trivia information regarding the name or concept of the NPC" (emphasis added), hence why the Leviathan page mentions and links to Leviathan. For a similar use of the trivia section see Siege Turtle, which had that piece of trivia added there in May 24, 2009 and has been in that trivia section ever since. Also, I use the "unexplained removal of content" edit summary when any editor removes content without an explanation, not just IPs. --Silver Edge 21:08, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok buddy but I don't see any offsite linking to this alleged Japanese mythology in that Siege Turtle example and we both know it's not the same thing. I can read the edit history, you added that link to Wikipedia. All I am saying is maybe a little discretion ought to be used especially when religion (and politics) are involved. 76.20.238.253 21:18, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
If you feel so strongly about it, you can remove the trivia from the Leviathan page, just include an edit summary explaining why you are removing it. But if another editor reverts it, don't remove it again or you'll be violating the one-revert rule. --Silver Edge 21:29, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
Very late comment, but I have no clue what the IP meant by "otherwise a very secular game"; the game is 90% magic, deities, and the supernatural. | 72 User Seventy two Truly Random.jpg (UTC) 02:51, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

I reverted that page once, so I don't see how I violated the one-revert rule. From GWW:1RR: "A revert, in this context, means undoing, in whole or in part, the actions of another editor or of other editors. This includes both removing something an editor has added and adding back in something an editor has removed, but not changing, rewording, rearranging, or consolidating information that is not a change to a previous version, nor adding something new to the page." My first edit to the To Zen Daijun page wasn't a revert as my formatting didn't revert that area of the page back to its original state prior to Ariyen's edits. Meaning I only performed one revert to the page, which doesn't violate the GWW:1RR. --Silver Edge 19:14, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Wrong again

Great Northern wall is in the Young Heroes of Tyria. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Ariyen (talk).

I know the Great Northern Wall is in the Young Heroes of Tyria and that was what I was trying to point out to you and yet you still reverted it to the incorrect wording. As indicated in the listed source by Joe Kimmes, completing a mission listed in Young Heroes of Tyria, such as The Great Northern Wall, only resets Young Heroes of Tyria for 30 days and doesn't reset The Flameseeker Prophecies, even though The Great Northern Wall is a Prophecies mission. So the "completing a mission within the same campaign" wording is incorrect. --Silver Edge 05:08, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Adding where it belongs.

My response. Incorrect wording? No, your wording is WORDY and more than needed. It's shortened as should be and still goes with what Joe said. Deal with it. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 05:12, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Secondly, let me point out that apparently if you look at the stories and realize that hey Zen Daijun doesn't go with Shiro's return! *Gasp* well you're confusing the missions with the wrong book. You look at the story book, find which mission goes with witch book and do it. The mission fits it's campaign and so you need to take the book to that campaign. I think, you're confused. I hope this helps. After all, I've done about all the books, except the Dungeon and those with gwen, Tusai, togo, and Saul. Also had to spend money to get the correct npc to sign the book. So, not giving false info here. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 05:16, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

From the source: "So for the Young Heroes book, doing any mission the book covers would reset the expiration, but wouldn't affect any other books." The note's current wording implies that completing Zen Daijun will reset Shiro's Return, which it doesn't, therefore the note is incorrect. --Silver Edge 05:27, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Zen Daijun isn't even in Shiro's return. You're missing the point. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 05:34, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
*Facepalm* You ARE the one missing the point. My goodness, humans nowadays are so hopeless. Please reread what Silver Edge typed. Pika Fan 05:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
I did, but if you look at the books, you'd see my point and the point that the notes aren't 'wordy' and confusing, where as the notes that contact same thing, just shorter, are basically saying the same thing. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 05:42, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
No, you did not, else you would have realized that Silver Edge is right about saying that it is misleading to say that any mission from a campaign will reset the 30 day expiration, which it doesn't. Clue: Zen Daijun is a mission, and it's not included in Shiro's Return, and naturally it should not trigger the reset. This is not the first time you had a revert war because you refuse to read and understand what the other party is saying. Really, stop it, because it's just making everybody else waste more time over your silly disputes. Pika Fan 05:47, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
I have left a message for Joe to confirm or say differently on the current note. So we will leave it up to him, to see what he says. This is what should have been done with Silver's 'change' in the note. To get it 'okayed' completely, before placing in information that doesn't make sense and halfway doesn't match up to what Joe actually says. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 05:53, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Basically, the expiration is triggered if you don't do anything involving the retroactive pages of a given book for a month. So for the Young Heroes book, doing any mission the book covers would reset the expiration, but wouldn't affect any other books.- Joe Kimmes Talk Page‎ 17:35, 6 November 2009 (UTC) There is no need, this quote is clear enough. Wiki edits are a bullfrog?

""Jeremiah was a bullfrog" who "always had some mighty fine wine" in Hoyt Axton's song, Joy to the World. Similar to the song, Jarimiya the Unmerciful, the frog-like Heket boss, sometimes drops Vabbian Wine. " — looks good to me: cleaner, covers the reason for the trivia note, compact. (I'm not entirely convinced that two Wikipedia links hurts it; however, it's clear that one works fine.)   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:22, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback. I thought it wasn't necessary to have a Wikipedia link to both the Hoyt Axton and Joy to the World articles, since the first sentence of the song article already has a wiki link to the Hoyt Axton article and the trivia in Jarimiya the Unmerciful is primarily referencing the song and its lyrics, not the song writer. Dhuum and The Waiting Game

I've versed Dhuum before myself and we lost against him and it didn't say that I had completed the quest. However I was AFK during the fight so maybe you have to accept the quest reward for it to count and if you don't and you verse Dhuum it doesn't count. However I am not sure. The quest does state that you must complete ALL quests in the Underworld, so I am assuming that also means The Nightman Cometh. -- My Talk Lacky 07:46, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

I have The Waiting Game in my quest log and haven't fought Dhuum yet, but based on The Waiting Game article, you have to complete "all ten" of the Underworld quests (which doesn't include The Nightman Cometh) to release Dhuum and get The Waiting Game reward from King Frozenwind, which is when you can also get The Nightman Cometh quest. The Waiting Game was readded to the Dhuum article but was removed again by someone else. --Silver Edge 03:19, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
OK so pretty much, if you do not accept the quest reward and face Dhuum and lose, you have to do the quest all over again? -- My Talk Lacky 05:34, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure, but if all the objectives of that quest in the quest log aren't striked out, you must likely have to do complete the quest objectives again. --Silver Edge 06:40, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Items Dropped Changes

I've noticed you've added weapons to NPC articles. If you read the Items Dropped section you yourself referenced, it clearly says not to reference weapons, and I don't believe the Dead Bow is an exclusive weapon... --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Diseraph (talk).

Note the part from GWW:NPC#Items dropped that says: "(exceptions are unique items, and weapons only dropped by that species like the Magmas Shield for titans)". From taking a look at the drop research in the Dead Bow talk page, it's obvious that only certain Undead creatures drop them, regardless of what profession those creatures are (i.e. not all of them are rangers). Whereas other weapons, such as Smiting Rods only seem to drop from monk creatures, and some weapons drop randomly from any type and profession of creatures. --Silver Edge 21:18, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

User:Reborn007

Is not a registered name. It is an ip useing that name. I see what you were trying to do, but what you should have done was add an unsigned tag. For an ip use {{unsigned ip|(ip here)}} for an actual registered user use {{unsigned|User:(username)}}. Just try to keep a look out when people do that. Follow the links and see if it is a registered user but even if it is I think you still need to just go ahead and use the unsigned ip tag and put the ip. Leave their attempt to sign just tag it after that with the ip. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 07:27, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Warp vs Map Travel

In your recent edit of the RIF farming guide, you changed every instances of warp to map travel. There were too many such uses, so I think it was good that you changed many of them.

For the future, consider leaving some colloquialisms in guides for two reasons: they can help introduce novice players to popular terms and they help give the guide a look/feel/sound in contrast to that of the encyclopedic articles. Thanks.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 09:16, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Gods

I noticed that you have added a trivia with some information about the respective god to every page that contains a god's name (Abbaddon's Mouth, Balthazar's Rage, etc). I was just wondering whether this is really necessary. The trivia "Abbaddon is the former god of secrets and water in Guild Wars" seems a bit redundant to me... MarcoDzi 22:10, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

If adding in that trivia. I'd put in a 'spoiler' for those that haven't completed nightfalls. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 22:33, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Abaddon not appear and is not mentioned in the Prophecies storyline, so people who only own Prophecies wouldn't know the mission name (Abaddon's Mouth) was referring to a god. If there is trivia concerning the name of an article's topic, it is included in the trivia section, such as Teinai's Wind and Zojun's Shot, as per GWW:NPC#Trivia and GWW:SKILLS#Trivia. --Silver Edge 22:55, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
I'd understand the presence of trivia in for example Teinai's Prison, as it doesn't refer to a very well-known person. However, I think it's a little overdone to note that Balthazar's Rage 'refers' to the god Balthazar (of war and fire blabla). MarcoDzi 23:15, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
I do not think that in the skills with the God's name in it (Dwayna's Sorrow etc.) should have a Trivia/Notes thing referencing that they have a God's name in it/are named after the God's. -- My Talk Lacky 11:24, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Shall I remove the trivia's then? MarcoDzi 17:59, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I agree with removing the trivia -- though I'd advocate [[wikilinking]] the first instance of the god's name in the article text so interested users can find the reference anyway. —Tanaric 10:44, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

FYI

Just an FYI for future, game update comments should be moved to the talk page of the specific update, not the monthly category. :D -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 00:04, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

As I also noted at Talk:Game updates#1-28-2010 Bug, are we not suppose to move comments from other namespaces into the Feedback namespace? Since the individual update pages are now created in feedback space, the monthly update pages (which are not part of the feedback space) are the only place to move them to. --Silver Edge 03:09, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Sigh... you are correct... I thought we had corrected all of that. Just ignore me when I'm being stupid. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 03:33, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
I will keep that in mind. =D --Silver Edge 04:35, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Red Gift Bags and Bottle of Rice Wine

I'm not quite sure whether this note really exclusively belongs to the Bottle of Rice Wine page. Getting a Bottle of Rice Wine by using a Red Gift Bag is not the same as simply purchasing a bottle from the merchant. Some players might not realize that this consumable is worth 200 gold because they don't suppose any consumable to have a value that high. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 00:33, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean, as the value is shown on the Bottle of Rice Wine page and when you move your cursor over the Rice Wine when it is in your inventory. --Silver Edge 03:01, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
granted, one is likely not the smartest cookie if he/she doesn't notice that. but if that person has multiple Rice Wines, a short mouseover won't necessarily let him/her notice that the value is 200 gold instead of 100. So if they don't check the Rice Wine page either they won't notice that fact (which isn't that unlikely i think since the table on the Red Gift Bag page already shows what the items provide regarding titles). yah, overall i admit that it sounds a little dumb. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 08:59, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
If you feel so strongly about it, you can go ahead and re-add the note to the Red Gift Bag page. --Silver Edge 02:25, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
thanks. in case any one still feels wrong about it being added, he/she can still bring forward some objections here. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 12:09, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Revert on Drops Research Page

Shouldn't have been reverted or "moved to the Identification page" as you stated. It's a guideline specific to this project that says "Before value is entered into drop research tables, it should be identified to get the actual sale value, even if the item is of white quality, as opposed to simply listing the un-identified merchant value which is totally inaccurate." I thought this seemed quite clear, please do not revert this change again. Kall - T 19:10, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Lower case'ing

Sorry about that. I didn't take a look at in game. →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 07:33, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

It's okay. Energy, Health, and conditions (Bleeding, Deep Wound, etc.) are usually capitalized in the in-game descriptions. --Silver Edge 07:36, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I figured as much. Lol, how do you have the time to do all of these things? →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 07:40, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
LOL, if it wasn't the weekend, I would of left a note on your talk page asking you to revert those edits yourself. =P --Silver Edge 07:43, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Despite that, I see you constantly working on the wiki like a bot. Why don't you have other things to do is my question. →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 07:45, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I guess it's because I'm addicted to Guild Wars (after returning from a nearly three year hiatus) and wiki editing (I use to be a regular Wikipedia editor). --Silver Edge 07:56, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Why don't you have a page? :C →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 08:37, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I sort of like having my username appear as red in recent changes and is keeping up with the traditional of not having a userpage on Wikipedia, where I never created my userpage in over 3 years. --Silver Edge 10:37, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Annoying. Yet, logical. Keep up the good work. ;D →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 22:34, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, happy editing! =D Now that I think about it, I should change my username to something with the word "red" it to correspond with my username appearing as a red link in recent changes. =P --Silver Edge 22:40, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Because of the "ed-ed" stutter, and English seems to sound best in 3 syllables at a time. Crimson Edge me likes. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 10:10, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I chose Silver Edge cause it was 3 syllables. I remember using Silver Edge for my warrior character during the E3 for Everyone and World Preview Event, but when I got Prophecies a month after it was released, the name was already in use (and still currently in use) by someone else. Thanks for the suggestions, but I think I'll stick to this name for nostalgic reasons. --Silver Edge 21:45, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
Just keep silver edge. →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 22:42, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

DST

Shouldn't we wait 2 more weeks 'till summer time? --SharkinuUser Sharkinu sig.png 11:24, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Daylight saving time started today in North America. Which is why the log-in announcement for the current weekend event says "-7 GMT" instead of -8 GMT. --Silver Edge 11:29, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
You're right. My bad. I thought all contries are changing at the same time.--SharkinuUser Sharkinu sig.png 11:32, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
So are you gonna have to change all this back once the rest of the world is synced up again? Sometimes it seems like America does things differently than the other continents for no other reason than just to be different. :P But at least they drive on the right side, thank god. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 13:23, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I was the one who also changed all the times on Upcoming changes and features [3] and the individual pages when DST ended in November. I'm starting to wonder if the times listed on Upcoming changes and features and the individual pages are correct, since I changed all the PST to PDT except for the weekend event start and end times as they start at noon Pacific Time on Fridays and end at 11:59 PM on Sundays throughout the entire year according to the log-in announcements. Which makes me wonder if the GW servers run on PST/PDT instead of UTC. I'll go to Codex Arena and check what time the Codex changes if I have time later. --Silver Edge 21:56, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Minor Edit (2)

If you could enable minor edit, it would clog up recent changes a fair bit. You can just tick the box and save - you should find it under your Preferences. Unless you feel the need to receive credit for your edits...? ;P 98.148.16.22 22:38, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Note taken, but aren't a large majority of my edits marked as minor? --Silver Edge 22:45, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) First of all, your comment about minor edits isn't even a minor edit. Hypocrite. Secondly, Silver is marking all appropriate edits as minor edits, and I assume the contributions you mention which aren't marked as such are within the main space, which, by "courtesy", aren't required to be marked as minor. Also, upon viewing silver's contribution log, you'll realize that you're just talking nonsense. User Ryuu R.jpg Ryuu - talk 22:46, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
IPs dont get minor edit 68.94.178.2 23:33, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
So make an account specifically to make one comment regarding minor edits without being a hypocrite, obviously. Lame excuse is lame. User Ryuu R.jpg Ryuu - talk 14:59, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome. Also, does the note you added to Weapon of Remedy apply only to attacks or to all skills/spells that deal damage and inflict a condition? --Silver Edge 02:09, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm not positive, but I believe it applies to spells, too. I tested it with Crippling Shot and Apply Poison, and it removes neither condition when they are reapplied. It comes up occasionally in RA, and I don't recall it ever stopping the Burning from Immolate or Rodgort's. That's not to say that it doesn't; I just don't specifically recall ever seeing it. User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 02:13, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
I can't test it since I don't have a Rit or Weapon of Remedy unlocked. I'll leave a hidden note there. --Silver Edge 02:59, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Good to see you too. =D I took a break from GW and the wiki. I installed Brood War and realized I'm still horrible at playing other players on Battlenet. I'm back doing RA now since it's the weekend event. --Silver Edge 22:10, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Order spells

Have you tested that they target self? Because it's not always sure if a spell not requiring a target must target self. - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 19:12, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

No I haven't tested it, I just assumed they did. I can't test it right now though. --Silver Edge 19:18, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

formatting..

Your formatting sir, is downright ugly. [ e.g. putting drop lists in alpha instead of grouped with types of gems & adding random "possible drops" in front of the elite chests on the gem pages. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 10:23, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Feel free to revert. The "possible drop" term was used in this edit by another user and I thought I might as well make the pages consistent. --Silver Edge 10:32, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Heh it just seems a bit clunky. fine technically though. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 10:36, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

However

Hey. Thanks for your many edits improving the wiki. However, there is no rule of style or grammar which requires that however be introduced as an attached clause, following a semicolon. It is perfectly acceptable either way; however, for some of the cases which you have corrected to the semicolon/attached form, flow of reading and logic is impaired by this form. Primarily, this is because as a separate sentence, however can contradict more clauses than just the immediately preceding one. Sometimes it's also problematic where it joins two clauses for which the intended contradiction is ambivalent, but in which the second half is too long (e.g. it contains multiple clauses after however. Mostly, I'm referring to the ones changed in Scam. | 72 User Seventy two Truly Random.jpg | 20:44, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
