Infusion

Infusing armor is the only reliable protection against Spectral Agony, the monster skill used by the Mursaat and their Jade constructs. To infuse armor, a player must kill an Eidolon or an Ice Beast, then bring its Spectral Essence to one of the Ancient Seers, who will infuse the equipped armor pieces of all characters within earshot range at the time. Each piece of armor can only be infused once, and the Seer will only infuse a set of armor once per essence.
Locations of Seers and Eidolon[edit]
- Iron Mines of Moladune mission
- Ring of Fire mission
- Abaddon's Mouth mission
- Mineral Springs (Ice Beast in the northeast corner)
Mechanics[edit]
A character with non-infused armor who is suffering from Spectral Agony suffers heavy damage, health degeneration, and movement and action speed reduction. This scales down per piece of infused armor worn as shown below:1
Infused armor pieces 0 1 2 3 4 5 Health degeneration1 30 13 9 7 5 3 Damage per second 81 42 29 22 16 9 Total health loss2 505 310 235 180 130 75 Slow effect 80% 33% 23% 18% 12% 7%
- The game caps health degeneration at -10; any degeneration beyond -10 hinders health regeneration, but does not result in additional loss of health.
- Total health loss caused by the direct effects of Spectral Agony.
Allies[edit]
- Henchmen are infused except in the following situations that might involve Mursaat or Jade constructs:
- During Ice Caves of Sorrow.
- During Iron Mines of Moladune, they are not infused until a Spectral Essence is brought to the Seer.
- In the Frozen Forest and Ice Floe, unless bringing them from Marhan's Grotto or Thunderhead Keep.
- Heroes are always infused, although their armor does not state it. This is especially helpful when dealing with the Mursaat and Jade constructs before the opportunity to get infused armor.
- Pets are always infused.
- Summoning stone allies are not infused.
Notes[edit]
- Armor which has been infused will be marked as Infused in the same way that weapons show customization; this property does not take up a rune or insignia slot.
- The infusion process uses the generic attack skill animation.
- Players need to be within earshot of the Seer to have their armor infused, if someone else is delivering the essence.
Trivia[edit]
- Prior to the June 8, 2005 update, it took five runs to infuse a set of armor, since Seers would infuse only one piece of armor at a time. This annoyance is noted by Jorith during the The Battle for Lion's Arch.
