- I would be happy if my xandra burned herself outa energy spamming this spell. Going to try with pets to see if she will cast on them. - Tested, AI didnt before this update and still do not after, reguarding pets incase someone fails at reading. I didnt know AI was fond of casting weapon spells on anything but party members with the possible exception being the three healing/life stealing ones. Justice 03:54, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Shining Blade Appearances[edit]

- Whine whine, bloody whine. Seriously, this is fine. They're doing a slow build up, things are slowly coming together, and I like it that way. Much better than if they rushed things all at once, and everyone's finished the war in a week (or month). This way, things draw out, they can add detail, and you see the events unfolding. - Lynsey said in an interview they had about a month more of content to release for the 5th anniversay. Assuming the War in Kryta is the anniversary content (which was said by the interviewer and he wasn't corrected) the War in Kryta content should finish by the end of May/early April. I agree though, it does feel like this "here's a single peanut" each week format they have chosen is almost frustrating. Near the portal of every Krytan area (except Talmark Wilderness and the Southern Kryta areas) a random Shining Blade ally will spawn. The random ally could be one of the following Shining Blade members who uses the listed skills:

- If they spawn in North Kryta then yes, they should. Has anyone noticed their AI is more terrible than usual? I was watching Snakebite for a while to record his skill bar, and he didn't seem to be doing anything most of the time. If I was stationary with a mob aggroed, he spent most of the battle running back and forth between foes but not actually attacking them. 58.106.43.167 14:35, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

I was vanquishing Watchtower Coast (from Divinity Coast) as a Barrage Ranger with a longbow (had a party of the three necro heroes in Sabway, plus Stefan and Claude). Most of the battles he would hang on the backline with me. If (foolishly) I'd run into battle, he'd follow me and start attacking; but after I pulled back, he would finish on the foe he was fighting and then pull back with me. Good for soaking up some peacekeeper damage, but that was about it. Maybe he's more useful if the PC is melee (or touch) based.--SomeDoug 15:20, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

- Imo, the Gwen & Thackeray side story is separate content so I'm going to start a new page for it. Since it's part of GW:B, I think it deserves one. Well if you get all horny by these updates comming 'slow' then get a life. Anet says linseys sick and cant work on the updates atm, pathetic. There nerds on this planet that are dieng of aids and cancer and they still manage play WoW. - It took Guru almost 24 hours to even start a thread on this. And GWGuru typically has threads up in a matter of minutes of every update. I may be wrong, but most of the people I've talked to in-game don't even know this is happening. And a lot of other people know, but couldn't care less. It's just dialogue and boring encounters. You know what? I happen to like the story. I like watching how this war is playing out, how alliances are being formed, and how things are slowly marching towards the future. - Arenanet has just spent a month+ to tell us this much of the story:
- The White Mantle has become more totalitarian, and has hired thugs to "keep the peace."
- The Shining Blade has moved their base into Kryta. Their contempt for the White Mantle has peaked, so they are gathering external forces to launch an offensive against the White Mantle.
- Gwen and Keiran are having relationship issues
- <insert pop-culture references in all of that>

- It's true that it isn't very fast, but it's a conflict. things are developing. i think they are trying to do it close to real time instead of using a time lapse. might not be thrilling but it feels more natural than a whole war/conflict happening in one week. and we wouldn't be able to actually "participate" by meeting NPCs, fighting new villains if things would be rushed...and participating is the big difference to reading a book and playing a game. ~ Dragon 20:22, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- This is reading a book as it's been written, while it's nice and interesting to see Guild Wars is a game, not a book; it's like playing a game which heavy amounts of cutscenes that could very well have been playable, sure the developers get the information across but if I wanted to watch movies I would go rent a movie.
- It's writing is interesting to view, almost totally in definites; bad guys are bad guys (sometimes in very over-the-top ways smashed with cult references), while the good guys are all good and pure. For the player, there is no true choice of side, which is a disappointing thing; it's already been confirmed by Linsey that you're Shining Blade whether you run around Lion's Arch smashing OBEY! all you want.
- It's an interesting spin on new content but interest is definately being lost. Such as with the whole Waiting Game thing, a novel idea up until people actually find out you're still writing the content out. 203.118.168.111 20:41, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

newre-skinned NPCs; they don't reward anything other than XP, so there is no incentive to do so. - Making players do something while the tension between the factions builds would have been the ideal route. Releasing even one quest per week for something like "Recruit the Ebon Vanguard" would be a lot better than what is happening now: We're seeing players getting burnt out because we've been given nothing but Exposition for the past month. --Riddle 20:57, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

- I am a fan of assassins and it's sad seeing 90% of the community hating them in general over a couple of problems, but I agree that the current PvP assassin meta is really powerful. It's basically Seeping Wound and Palm Strike, but Palm Strike is the worst offender in my opinion because if you're a skilled assassin (or if you're against an unskilled monk) you're basically going to kill them in a matter of seconds. Fortunately the assassin is still easily stopped, thanks to things like Blind or Empathy or other hexes - Empathy especially depending on what build you're using as an assassin, so the idea that they're over powered is questionable.

- Counter=/=balance. Put it this way, if there are so many great counters to the sins, why am I seeing so many of them? I mean I'm glad they finally got some love in the GvG area, but for the rest they are just running rampant. - I really think Shadow Form has skewed the community's opinion on assassins. It's the black sheep but it's no worse than the state of the other nine professions. Now if you'll notice I was agreeing that assassins are powerful, but it's not as big a travesty as people make it out to be. Counters aren't the crux of balance but they do matter a lot especially if you're playing melee. In RA at least, an assassin will be removed from the game if a mesmer is able to put Empathy on them, no matter how powerful you are as an assassin. Shadowform hatred was solely in pve, because it was the nearest thing to botting without actually botting. In pvp however shadowform was never a problem (unless somebody decided to make a build purely to troll his/her team, do I hear you say W/Mo/Me echo mending tank?). Sins are disliked in pvp because they aren't being what they are supposed to be: Glass cannonballs. Do alot of damage, but really prone to counterattacks, interrupts etc.. This would cause the person using the sin to actually plan ahead, when to attack, who to attack, how can I escape, what teammembers can potentialy help me achieve my goal, yadayada. Now however most sins use the attack pattern of "WUT?! it's moving?! Not in my world it is not!!!!11!" *1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8*. In the rare case that the target survives it will not deter the sin because his chains now can be spammed into infinity and behond! *1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8*. And that from a game that is supposed to revolve around competitive pvp, the way it is now it would fit in better with WoW "spam more to win". Maybe anet is just trying to please the narruto fans or something.
