Bug with Quest Acquisition[edit]

If you already have the 10k Kurzick Faction when you speak to Count zu Heltzer he will not offer you this quest, but will instead offer you The Defenders of the Forest(tDotF), any character that speaks to Count zu Heltzer while your account has 10k faction will be unable to take this quest. If you reduce your faction below 10k you will not be able to take either Befriending the Kurzicks or tDotF, if you have taken tDotF and abandoned it you will be able to take it again even if your faction is below 10k. This should not have much impact on the game, but you will miss out on the 10kXP (useful for levelling up Heroes) and the 700g. --Heurist 11:54, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Common Kurzick Faction Quests[edit]

I was trying to make a list of convenient quests to take around House zu Heltzer in order to achieve the 10,000 faction and came up with the following table.

Quest Faction Experience Gold Given by Location
Artistic Endeavors 750 3000 250 Jun House zu Heltzer
The Beak of Darkness 750 3500 275 Rutger zu Heltzer House zu Heltzer
The Ancient Forest 750 3000 250 Scholar Andrej House zu Heltzer
The Experimental Weaponsmith 750 3000 250 Scholar Andrej House zu Heltzer
Melodic Gaki Flute 750 3000 250 Vasili Lutgardis House zu Heltzer
Discord Wallow Lyre 750 3000 250 Vasili Lutgardis House zu Heltzer
Rhythm Drinker Drum 750 3000 250 Vasili Lutgardis House zu Heltzer
Song and Stone 1000 5000 350 Count zu Heltzer House zu Heltzer
Wardens On the March 750 3000 250 Rutger zu Heltzer House zu Heltzer
Envoy of the Dredge 750 3000 250 Moleneaux Ferndale
Temple of the Dredge 750 3000 250 Moleneaux Ferndale
Revolt of the Dredge 750 3000 250 Moleneaux Ferndale
Kurzick Supply Lines 400 2000 150 Supplymaster Konrad Ferndale
Scouting Ferndale 400 2000 150 Forestmaster Vasha Ferndale
Charting the Forests 500 5000 200 Sekai the Mapmaker Maatu Keep
Total 10550 52500 3825

Does anyone have any opinion about including this table on the "Befriending the Kurzicks" quest? Is it useful? It was useful to me since the "Category:Gives Kurzick factions" includes some quests that cannot be done until after "Befriending the Kurzicks". Luke1138 02:25, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Can Befriending the Kurzicks become optional?[edit]

It is a pain to complete Befriending the Kurzicks when you don't that many alliance battles. So, can it become an optional quest instead of a primary?

What He Said, PLEASE!!!! esp as a huge number of players are soon going to leave for GW2; At least Lower the Necessary Faction to a Reasonable number that does not double the number of Quests one must complete to access HM. --69.255.123.188 14:22, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

I've never done an alliance battle, yet I've befriended both the Kurzicks and the Luxons on fifteen characters. The secret is to not spend that initial 10K faction until all your chars have got that far. The quests aren't hard to do, and it doesn't take many vanquishes to hit 10K, assuming you have HM available. --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 15:48, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
This quest always seems to halt my progression in the Factions storymode, but if you've made it to either of the Competitive Missions (which are not Alliance Battles) Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry making that 10k faction should be a breeze. If you have an empty character slot, Fort Aspenwood can be immediately accessed by a PvP-Only Character. Simply have your PvP character map to Great Temple of Balthazar, and speak to either Kurzick Recruiter or Luxon Diplomat. These two NPCs will give you an option of travelling to "FA" or "JQ" for each respective side (Luxon or Kurzick).
Most Importantly, these two Competitive Missions are made up of randomly assembled teams. In other words, once you make it to the outpost (which requires only two map travels), you can just click "Enter Mission" and you'll be put in line for the next available battle. Each battle rewards an average of 4000 Imperial Faction which can be traded to Hei Tsu for an equal amount of either Kurzick or Luxon.
Alternatively, if you follow the quest helpers for Defend Fort Aspenwood and The Jade Quarry (Kurzick quest) for Kurzick players or Fort Aspenwood (quest) and The Jade Quarry (Luxon quest) for Luxon players, your Role-playing Character will be led to these outposts automatically. Or, as Snograt suggested, you could just do the Boreas Seabed or Arborstone a couple times, or a couple vanquishes if you want to avoid PvP altogether. It depends on your preference, but I find CM's to be a quick way to finish this quest, and to make easy Z-Keys and titles if you decide to keep doing them. --CrazyRabidSquirrel 16:45, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
You can only complete Boreas Seabed or Arborstone once with master's reward. Repeating the missions after that won't get you more faction rewards, unless you complete it with the Zaishen Mission quest. --Silver Edge 21:01, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm so daft sometimes. You would need the Zaishen Missions to get any Faction upon repeat if you had already completed them on Master's. Thanks for the correction! --CrazyRabidSquirrel 22:12, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks much for taking the time to reply. :) --69.255.123.188 10:52, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
