Game update links
The game updates November and October links are wrong, they link to the November and October in 2010, not 2011. 93.103.136.57 23:39, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

- Yeah he does, and I'd fix it, but I have no idea how. The actual problem exist somewhere within Game updates/Links which uses some funky coding to automate the links' updating. Luckily that page isn't protected (although maybe it should be?), so if you know how to fix it, be my guest. ~FarloTalk 05:05, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
- Apparently all it needed was a new reference from the current month and year. Thanks Jon! ~FarloTalk 06:24, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Is there any place to note the games falling player numbers? Currently I find fewer than 2 people in a major outpost (LA or KC). The SP PvE experience is still ok though.

Yes, i was able to verify that the double XP for elite caps is indeed in effect, and got some greens as well. still no announcement in the front page of the game though. -Sef326 08:53, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

WoC
Anybody else think it's time to remove WoC from the monthly happenings list? It's been two months since part 3 was released. EtariP sdrawkcaB ehT 18:00, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- When it was released is relatively unimportant. The reason for mentioning it in Latest in-game activities is that there are still a fair number of people who aren't aware that the full Winds of Change storyline is available. (It might be more important to note that Memories of Purity is available, since a lot of people are still afraid to start WoC, lest their title-progress work get hampered by Afflicted, Ministry, or Scavenger mobs.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:10, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

school project
Hello, for my school project i chose guild wars, and I am supposed to answer these questions, could some of you help me plz? even if you can answer me one question or somtething i would be very happy.
- 1) What’s the goal(s) of the game? Could you explain this to please? (could you also give some examples?)
- 2) On which way is this game made?
- 3) Are there references to other games? Does this game also has an influence on the other games? (f.e. the release of Guild * Wars 2 will surely have influence on new other MMORPG’s ; What influence?)
- 4) Does this game has a specific public?
What’s the majority of sexes playing Guild Wars 1 and do more boys play this game than girls? (how much?)
- 5) How many players are there on Guild Wars yet? How many do you excpect to play Guild Wars 2?
Thanks a lot :D --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Mgjavelle (talk).
- Some of the info you're looking for can be found by looking around on the wiki for about five minutes or on Wikipedia. Other questions, such as #2, are poorly worded and open to interpretation, and I'm fairly sure it's moot to ask how many people might play a game that hasn't been released. In brief, I'd recommend a different topic. Also, signing with four ~ is fun. EtariP sdrawkcaB ehT 15:28, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- 1) The goal of a game is a subjective question. For me personally, the goal of the game provides me is a place to join with other people and have fun. No different than say going to a football game; be with friends and have fun. For other people, the goal of the game could be to be the best PvP player, to become wealthy in game, to obtain a very prestigious weapon, etc. The game itself does express a "hard" goal, say as in basketball where the ball has to go into the basket, but rather a "soft" goal to entice players to continue playing by letting them enjoy how they want to play game.
- 2) I do not understand the question. The game has two many different play styles appealing to different audiences; PvP, PvE, GvG.
- 3) No comment
- 4) From my personal experience, the number of players in Guild Wars has always been very balanced between sexes.
- 5) Unknown at this time, but perhaps http://gw2census.com/charts.php can help for user maintained data. I expect no less than 800,000 players in Guild Wars 2 provided that their marketing campaign keeps up with spreading the word on the Internet.
- Hope this helps. Unindal 15:13, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- 1: For PvE the main goal of the game is to commplete the storyline by doing the missions. The secodnd goal is to obtain titles such as Protector, Vanquisher and Survivor. For many it is to achieve 30 points for their Hall of Monuments. PvE also has several side-stories told trough quests that all offer different rewards. It also posseses quest-chains that tell the strory of what happens between the end of GW1 and GW2, it's called Guild Wars Beyond. For PvP like any game it is mainly a fight between 2 groups be it a random team with Random Arena, a formed group with Heroes Ascend or a Guild with Guild vs Guilds. each format has different objectives to complete and play-styles.
- 2: Be more clear with that question please.
- 3: The game has some references to other games but not in the form of game design. It also has references to movies and series, most notable is Monty Python.
- 4:No this game does not have a specific public. If you ask me between the sexes there is no way to check it but it apears to be mostly balanced. Don't judge by the gender of the in-game characters since many males play as females.
- 5:The sign up for the beta-test was 1.000.000 in little over 48 hours and many people failed to sign up who also wanted to participate for the beta-test. So it's safe to say that the numbers will definitly go over one milion with ease.
- Da Mystic Reaper 15:49, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- Except the number of people wanting to play a new game for free will be >> the number of people wanting to pay £40 for a new game. So expect perhaps half a million max. The purpose of the game is to escape reality and kill time - by either using technique to kill other players, or by using your game knowledge to abuse the PvE AI. 77.100.114.120 16:50, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Add a link to Zaishen coin reward table
When I look at the 'Latest in-game activities' on the main page I'd usually like to know what the total rewarded coins will be if all quests are completed + bonus. I suggest adding a link to that table here for easy reference and look up: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Zaishen_Challenge_Quest/table
Greatwolf 19:22, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- i agree this would be a usefull addition, although personally i think it would look nicer for the one table with rewards to be added to the daily activities page also showing how many war supplies you would get from doing the wanted each day. As someone with not much left to do in the game, i do all dailies and knowing what i would get in advance without looking at all the relevant pages would be a good thing. dont know how easy this would be though.Spark-TBa 14:39, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
weekend event
in the section on main page the link for dragon festival links to the recent update page rather than the actual dragon festival page, should this be changed. Spark-TBa 16:36, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
- I linked to Feedback:Game updates/20120621#Festival Updates since it actually lists the official start and end times (whereas the Dragon Festival page doesn't list the 2012 dates), has additional information about the changes to this year's Dragon Festival, and it also has a wiki link to Dragon Festival. It's a placeholder until the Dragon Festival 2012 page is created, which will most likely be on Thursday when the Official Guild Wars Website posts page about the Dragon Festival 2012. --Silver Edge 19:52, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
- makes sense. Ty for clarifying for me. Spark-TBa 06:44, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Wayfarer's Reverie
GET THIS ON THE FRONT PAGE, HAD I NOT CHECKED THE UPDATES I WOULD NEVER HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS GOING YES THIS IS IN ALL CAPS, I'M SCREAMING --Skekzyz 02:24, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- First of all. pls don't scream in public. Second, it has been added. Third, can someone who has the power change the link to Wayfarer's Reverie instead of the update notes. That way it is more consistent with other festivals (though I don't know if it was done with past single time events, only can say it for festivals). 195.240.63.18 06:42, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

The Canthan new year lay out (aka the layout we use on gw2 wiki) looked really good and I for one am sad to see it changed back. - Zesbeer 00:30, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- :) That is very kind of you to say so! I'd definitely want some global concensus before considering changing to a slightly more modern look all the time, but I won't hesitate to put some of my planned themed event mainpages up when the next big event hits :P (even if it is halloween >_>) I did take the opportunity to remove some links from the mainpage, but not many will notice those.. -Chieftain Alex 00:42, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Should the links to the feedback section be removed from the main page? Lower-right is "Wiki community" which has "Community portal". Under that is a link to feedback. Seems moot now. 75.37.23.153 01:13, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

- That was there by Falconeye and then removed by Horrible. Your question is better directed to the edit copy, where horrible finally is proposing a lot of changes that he/she should have done from the beginning and not screw with the edit copy as their own personal edit page. Not surprised though of it having been allowed for almost 3 years now. Agf - sadly doesn't apply to everyone and blind eye to those and timestamps (like removing things (ex: ignoring talk page as she did in the edit copy), before other things with assumptions and then shrugged off by others as if it's fine.) Hope for your sake that it's added back. 07:15, 15 January 2023 (UTC) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Rodan (talk).
