How about user made maps? I would like to contribute my 100% explored Tyrian map for example. --Gem (talk) 15:44, 7 February 2007 (PST)

Or we could get hold of ANet's 100% maps. — Skuld 15:47, 7 February 2007 (PST)
That would be awesome ofcourse. ;) --Gem (talk) 16:13, 7 February 2007 (PST)
I'll put our Factions and Prophecies 100% explored maps up. We don't have a big, uncovered, labeled Prophecies map atm... (believe it or not) so maybe somebody has one to contribute? *grin* And yes, you guys are welcome and encouraged to add any content to this Wiki that you would like to! --Reaganwright (talk) 16:17, 7 February 2007 (PST)

Saw a whole world map on guru once. It looked pretty acurate. Might be able to help some people get an idea of where the continents are located in relation to eachother. Dont have it now, but i might look. If anyone has it, maybe it could be posted, unless it has to be 100% proven/accurate. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:EatMoreCarbs .

These maps are beautiful and all but what about maps with town/zone labels? If I don't have it memorized I can't find anything on there really but for the few major cities.--File:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Vallen Frostweaver 05:58, 9 February 2007 (PST)
I'll try to go through all of the maps I know around the internet and select the ones which a) we can use and b) would be the best suited here. --Gem (talk) 07:17, 9 February 2007 (PST)

Which maps are ArenaNet?[edit]

I added the arenanet image template to the two maps User:Reaganwright mentioned above. What about the three maps like Image:TyriaMap.jpg? And, because the content comes from in-game, should Gem's map be similarly labeled? —Tanaric 16:30, 17 March 2007 (EDT)

Any screenshot is under ANet's copyright. If a user has made modifications to it, they may hold the copyright to those modifications, but the original image is still ANet's. So really any image from in game should have the ANet image template on it. --Rainith 16:44, 17 March 2007 (EDT)
Yeh, they should be tagged. Btw, I'll be uploading a new version of my map soon as this is the old version. I have a new one which has two tiny spots that I got after posting that map. -- Gem (gem / talk) 16:53, 17 March 2007 (EDT)

GW:EN map[edit]

how on earth do we have a completely uncovered gw:en map? is this supposed to be public? --VVong|BA 18:09, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Its all thanks to Santax :) see this discussion here [1] --Alien User Alien Sig.png 18:14, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
wow, props to santax. --VVong|BA 18:20, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
You can find this file for download (22.84 MB) here. If you look at that file though I don't think it is completely uncovered. A quick look and you can see that to the East of the mountain ridge, East of the river, almost dead North of that spinity whats-it you can see a portal that goes off to nowhere (nowhere meaning somewhere not uncovered maybe). It isn't the only one. I guess these could be entrances to the dungeons but they could go to other above ground areas. --trekie9001 09:00, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Maps with Names of Locations[edit]

We need these, unnamed are useless except for figuring out how to get 100% exploration.--UserZathicSig.PNGZathic 03:52, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Agree.. Have no use of 2 compleatly uncovered Phophecies-map, while none of them show all City's and Outpost's ect... Useless! Looses 14:47, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
A full map system exist with locations of cities and outposts with a simple google search for mappingout. I haved used it myself for about a year Paryll Nur 20:12, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Agree. I've just added maps showing towns/outposts for Tyria (including Eye of the North), Cantha, and Elona. However, they seem to be tagged for deletion as being redundant. Hopefully we can get that resolved. Otherwise, like everyone else said, it's difficult to use a map for navagation if there are no towns/outposts listed. I can see how something like that could be useful if you're going for the cartographer title, but it's not that useful if you just want to get from point A to point B. Luke1138 01:13, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm guessing they were tagged because the individual regions have labelled maps, however I suspect that the images' poor quality was also a factor, the scaling makes the text on most of the maps illegible. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 09:19, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
The current bitmaps are intended to be a "thumbnail" of the hi-res maps which have all the detail but are 4-6MB in size (too big for the wiki). I'm hoping we can provide these links to the fully labeled maps since there seems to be some interest and need. Luke1138 18:50, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Ok, issue resolved. You can see the discussion here. The maps have been updated and will remain published. Luke1138 16:24, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

GW2 Map[edit]

In GW2, when all the continents will be explorable, I hope they give the option to let it all be one huge map, that way we don't have to keep using boats to transfer between campaigns. I'm really getting tired of that. lol.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:TheStuff07 (talk).

The articles for the Northern Shiverpeaks, Kryta, the Maguuma Jungle, the Crystal Desert, the Southern Shiverpeaks, Kaineng City, Echovald Forest, the Jade Sea, Istan, Kourna, Vabbi and the Desolation all need maps. -- Gordon Ecker 04:31, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I can do the Northern Shiverpeaks. I'm currently working on clearing out Kryta, so once I finish that I could do that for you also if you want. — Eloc 16:06, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
I can supply my 100% map as a psd-file is someone wants to create the maps from it. Saves a lot of time to have it in one piece and then working from that. -- Gem (gem / talk) 16:50, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
I added the maps for the Tyrian areas. Now someone needs to add the Canthan and Elonian areas since I'm too lazy to take screenshots in the game for those. -- Gem (gem / talk) 18:07, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank you Gem. — Eloc 01:05, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
I have Grandmaster Cartographer on all three continents (but not EotN territories). What exactly do you need? Calor Talk 01:06, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Canthan and Elonan regions. — Eloc 01:35, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Just a high resolution screenshot from the world map of each of those? Calor Talk 01:36, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
I personally would prefer if it showed all of the towns/outposts, but I suppose what Gem did at Northern Shiverpeaks is fine also. — Eloc 02:52, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Alright. I'll do it sometime tomorrow. Remind me if I forget. Calor Talk 03:04, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Something like the map on Ascalon would be nice, but I'd prefer it if all of the maps used the same colors and style, so it's better to upload without the lines and then have one person to do all of the versions with the lines. -- Gem (gem / talk) 05:23, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
What about both a clean map and a labelled map? -- Gordon Ecker 00:22, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent)

I support that. — Eloc 03:07, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
I don't have Grandmaster Cartographer on any characters, but I've stitched together complete or nearly complete Echovald Forest and Jade Sea maps. I'll start working on Charr Homelands, Far Shiverpeaks and Tarnished Coast maps tomorrow. -- Gordon Ecker 05:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
The Charr Homelands map is finished. -- Gordon Ecker 05:26, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I just finished the Far Shiverpeaks and Tarnished Coast maps. -- Gordon Ecker 08:30, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Is there a list of which areas need maps that I can check? I have LGMC (but not all of EotN) and can ss any area pretty quickly. Mohnzh 22:02, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
The list is in the first message. Tyria and EotN have been done though. -- Gem (gem / talk) 23:14, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Woops. I forgot about this. Had a busy week. Yeah, I saw the list above, but I knew some had already been done and I was wanting to be lazy and not have to click all the links =P. Anyway, I will try to get on this tonight and have them all finished by the weekend. If I do, can I remove the RfC? Mohnzh say what? 17:00, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
BTW, would it be preferable to redo the Jade Sea and Echovald Forest maps to exclude the outposts and be consistent with the Tyrian maps? Mohnzh say what? 21:29, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
IMO we we should have both marked and unmarked versions of continent and region maps. -- Gordon Ecker 23:03, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I have ss of all of Cantha (excluding Shing Jea because I haven't explored the boardwalk fully), but I'm not familiar enough with GIMP to piece them all together. I can upload them for someone else to put together, but I'm not going to do it if no one volunteers. If you want me to upload all the pieces, let me know and I will upload them in my user space. I can also get all of Elona if someone wants to work on them. Also let me know when you are finished with them so I can mark them for deletion. Mohnzh say what? 04:00, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

I could put together the map of Kaineng City. -- Gordon Ecker 00:29, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
I will try to upload what I have tonight or tomorrow night and post links here. Mohnzh say what? 21:13, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Alright, got all of Cantha uploaded for someone to piece together (except Shing Jea - I haven't wall-scraped the Boardwalk). You can find the maps here. Mohnzh say what? 22:58, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
The Kaineng City map is up, and I've added a table to the top of this section to keep track of which maps are complete. -- Gordon Ecker 04:05, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
I've cropped maps of Istan, Kourna, Vabbi and the Desolation from Reaganwright's scan at Image:PosterMapElona.jpg. All regions now have at least one map. -- Gordon Ecker 05:07, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
In that case, would you like me to put up al the screenshots necessary to have both clean and labelled versions of everything? Mohnzh say what? 15:26, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Sure, if you don't mind. Also, it would be nice if you used the Cloud Remover mod. -- Gordon Ecker 21:25, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't have TexMod...I'm a real LGMC =P. I tried to find it once, but I couldn't download it. Know of any good places? Nevermind, I found the link. Mohnzh say what? 21:30, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
I uploaded labelled maps of Kaineng City. I tried to leave enough overlap so that you can still crop out the close tab and the message at the bottom. I also used the Cloud Remover TexMod. Do I need to redo the other maps I have up? I will get the Nightfall maps up as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for putting them together. Mohnzh say what? 23:20, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
I could use a map covering Pongmei Valley, but I already have that area mapped, so I can take the screenshot myself. -- Gordon Ecker 23:50, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Never mind, it's done. -- Gordon Ecker 01:57, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
I've extracted the textures to make unlabelled maps of Cantha, Elona and pre-Searing Ascalon, but I can't find all of the map textures for Tyria. -- Gordon Ecker 04:20, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually I'm missing a few blocks for Kourna and Vabbi. -- Gordon Ecker 05:58, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
I've found the missing texture blocks for Elona. I plan on finishing the clean maps tomorrow. -- Gordon Ecker 09:50, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Does that mean you only need the labelled maps from Tyria? I can supply all but a little of the Southern Shivs. I managed to get GMC without wall-scraping Dreadnoughts and haven't made it back there to finish it up. Mohnzh say what? 13:55, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
I have labelled maps for all of the missing Tyria regions up now for piecing together. I looked over them, and the only place that looks not wall-scraped is Borlis Pass (I must have gotten Dreadnought's at some time). If it looks like something is missing, let me know here. I also uploaded pieces for making a clean Ascalon map. Sorry about Pongmei. I had it up, but misclassified. It was in the Jade Sea section. Holler at me if you need anything from the Elonan continent. Mohnzh say what? 01:29, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm cropping the integrated maps of Cantha and Elona right now. Oddly, the unfogged maps are made up of a 12x8 grid of 512x512 tiles, while the fogged maps are 1540x1155, creating a ratio of 385:1536. -- Gordon Ecker 02:56, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
They're up, as are clean pre-Searing and Realm of Torment maps. -- Gordon Ecker 04:07, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Sweet. The Tyria map pieces I have up did use the cloud remover mod. I also went ahead and got the cartography made easy mod to check if anything is missing. It looks like there were only two "large" pieces of fog and a handful of very small bits of fog along some edges. The two pieces are in Borlis Pass and Bloodstone Fen, so if you have better screenshots of those areas you may want to integrate them. It seems like everything else is pretty good, just the occassional small fog piece along an edge. Mohnzh say what? 04:27, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I figured GIMP out. I will try to get the last few up in the next day if you don't beat me to it ;-). I'm going to go ahead and remove this from the RfC as well since we can be certain that we will have completed everything we needed. Mohnzh say what? 06:07, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Move proposal[edit]

IMO we should move this page to list of maps and turn map into a disambig page. -- Gordon Ecker 00:49, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

What page(s) would be on the disambig page? Map-travel & List of maps? — Eloc 23:35, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
As well as Area Map, Dungeon Map, Mission Map and World Map, as well as quest items with "map" in their name. -- Gordon Ecker 23:43, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Alright. I got no opposition to your suggestion. — Eloc 02:24, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Factions needs a map update[edit]

I think that the map for Factions should need an update, because it's been such a long time when Kurzick had lots of outposts captured. Well, it's different these days. Luxons have pushed their line all the way to The Eternal Grove, dramatically shaping the map. I've been at Vasburg Armory last week when Luxons captured it the same time. --Juze 07:16, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

The map does not change though, Just the captured outposts, The map stays the same all the time :P T1Cybernetic User T1Cybernetic Glob of Ectoplasm.png 11:00, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Map pieces or Deeprunner's Map[edit]

Can this page link to the Deeprunner's Map quest or the map pieces? - Decollete 12:05, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

I've added a link to the main map article, which now includes a link to the Deeprunner's Map quest. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 04:04, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Factions Map[edit]

I notice din factions there was an island and a part jutting out of the mainland that was unidentified? Anybody know what this is?

There's a lot seen on the Cantha map that's unidentified ... – NuclearDuckie 07:53, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Elite Skill Cap maps[edit]

What ever happened to the old maps of each land with the boss locations on them to assist with skill caps. i know most were large and made by a guild or alliance but they were very useful esp for an old man like me who enjoys using the maps to plan my next adventures.

this is the type of map i am speaking of found this link posted on a elite fan site. http://users.skynet.be/MaaikeEnTheo/EliteSkillMap.jpg

while i know we can look up the map to a single skill having the larger map lets a person like me plan a little better what i want to do.

Maps with foe locations[edit]

(suggestion)

For most maps there exist a version with the location of bosses. There already exist maps for presearing Ascalon with a more or less exact location of foes and their number. But i miss this for the rest of the gameworld. Just to know that a map contains specific foes but not their location and numbers makes one loose a lot of time searching. Planing farming routes is unnecessary difficult and almost a privilege to GW veterans and hardcore-gamers. After five years of guildwars and GW2 coming soon i think its time that this should be done. i would do it myself if i had the time and skill to do it. i hope the GW-wiki-community thinks simmilar like me and will manage to do it for the benefit of all. ^_^Logain 00:41, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
