Holy damage
From Guild Wars Wiki
(Redirected from Light damage)
Holy damage is a damage type inflicted by many Monk Smiting Prayers and Dervish Mysticism skills, as well as several other skills. It is also inflicted by wands and staves linked to the Healing Prayers, Protection Prayers and Smiting Prayers attributes, as well as the unique Divine Favor wand Stormray.
[edit] Characteristics
- Holy damage as a direct damage type (inflicted directly on a foe by skills) ignores armor and character level. That is, a skill that says it deals 50 Holy damage to a foe will deal exactly 50 damage, regardless of armor level (excluding protection or specific bonuses). The only current exception to this is Lightbringer's Gaze, which does not ignore armor.
- Holy damage as an attack damage type (either directly from a weapon or resulting from a buff such as Judge's Insight or Heart of Holy Flame) is not armor-ignoring, but simply non-physical, non-elemental damage which uses the normal damage calculations.
- Holy damage deals twice its listed amount against undead enemies, including Necromancer minions. Tormentor's Insignia also increases the amount of Holy damage received.

[edit] Trivia
- Prior to the May 25th, 2007 update, wands and staves inflicted light damage rather than Holy damage, which was functionally identical to the attack damage type Holy damage.
