Skill trainer

A skill trainer is an NPC that teaches a roleplaying character new skills. Skill trainers generally have a standard set of skills which they offer in addition to any non-elite skills in the current campaign that the account has unlocked.
A skill trainer can be easily identified by the "[Skills]" suffix in their name.
To purchase a skill, a skill point (
) and an amount of gold is required. The amount of gold depends on the number of skills that have been previously purchased. The first skill purchased costs 50
; the cost progresses up to 1
if over 20 skills have been purchased (from any trainer). In total, the first 20 skills cost you 6100
.
The following table shows the progression of gold cost for each skill purchased:

New characters should always attempt skill quests that offer the skills they want rather than purchasing them, if only to save on the gold. Of course, the downside is that more time and effort are needed for that small saving in gold. Note that this applies mostly (if not only) to the Prophecies campaign. There are much fewer skill quests in Factions and Nightfall.
