Sacrifice

Sacrifice is a cost required by a few skills, mostly from the necromancer profession. After successfully activating these skills, you forfeit a fraction of your maximum health, making it possible to sacrifice yourself to death.

Sacrifice counts as health loss and cannot be eliminated by any means, although you can reduce sacrifice costs by lowering your maximum health. Similar to Life Stealing, if a character uses a skill or effect that would sacrifice more Health than it actually has, it will lose all of its health plus 1. Health sacrifice also ignores the short span after resurrection during which accumulating of Death Penalty would be prevented.

Trivia[edit]

  • During the original Beta-testing for Guild Wars, sacrifice skills applied a fixed health cost rather than current method of using a fraction of the user's maximum health. For example, Plague Sending cost exactly 25 health.
