Faction requirement for armor

my guild is Kurzick, but I would like to craft Luxon armor. What requirements do I need to have the Luxon Armorer talk to me? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.197.177.211 (talk).

Simply have more Luxon faction than Kurzick when you go talk to him. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 00:19, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Which you can get by doing Luxon quests or doing AB as a guest for a Luxon guild. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 02:23, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Please note that Wyn means more undonated Luxon faction than undonated Kurzick faction (press H and click on the Faction tab to check the status of this), not that you need to have transferred more Luxon than Kurzick faction. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 03:33, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Spend all of your Kurzick faction then simply bribe a Luxon priest at any res shrine. --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 10:19, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Real Money Period

I understand that we can't sell game money or access keys for real money, but is it against the rules for others to sell OTHER non-GW games stuff for real money in GW.. I heard someone was trying to sell a WoW account the other day and couldn't find anything in the rules to say they were breaking a rule.. So I'm asking FMI (for my information). ty

Technically, no, ArenaNet has no authority to regulate the sale of anything they do not hold copyright on. I am unfamiliar with the WoW Eula, so I don't know if they have any policy regarding it. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 11:26, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Concerning Skill Unlocks

I have been playing Guild Wars for a yr and half now. I have 5 Characters. I have most skills unlocked. Is there any advantage at this point in the game to buying skill unlocks? I was going to buy them for Night Fall PVE. I do have all campaigns though. I just want to know if it is to my advantage to buy to buy skill unlocks. Thank you.74.229.228.95 18:27, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

It would save you whatever game gold or Balthazar faction it would take for you to unlock the rest of the NF skills you don't have unlocked yet. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 18:29, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Unlocked skills can be used by heroes and PvP-only character.
Roleplaying characters cannot directly use unlocked skills, but these (non-Elite) skills can be taught by any Skill trainer (from the corresponding campaign).
Additionally, Skill tomes can be used to make your character learn any unlocked skill. There are Elite and non-Elite versions of these Tomes for each profession.
Personally, I don't think it's worth getting these Skill Unlock Packs, unless you do not have enough time (or enough PvE characters of different professions) to unlock them through PvE storyline, or using Balthazar factions earned through PvP matches.
In short: having all skills unlocked makes your heroes (and PvP-only characters) more flexible. But if you're not into PvP and do not want to have each hero to have their own unique build, I see little use for an unlock pack. --NIN37 19:49, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Faction Points

I joined a Luxon Guild. I have 35/27,000 Kurzick points and 0/27,000 Luxon points. I bought amber chunks in Kurzick territory, thinking that is what I was supposed to do to bring my Luxon points up and my Kurzick points down to 0. What can I do at this point to change the situation and bring my Luxon faction points up? Thank You74.229.228.95 19:23, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

The Luxon faction page describes the methods to increase your Luxon faction.- TheRave talk (talk) 19:40, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Simple answer, earn enough Luxon points to turn in and turn them in, that will zero out your kurz faction. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 21:46, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Lost Henchmen

In Prophecies I have the company of a NPC-party of henchmen, who automaically help me fight. After a sudden power loss I was reborn in Ascalon, but when travelling outside the city I lost my automatic comrades. --78.23.68.63 16:11, 20 March 2009 (UTC) Paul

1) Please do not post your question in someone else's unrelated topic. 2) Go back into town, find the henchmen (in Ascalon City they are near the exit), and re-add them to your party by clicking the henchman, then the + button in your Party window (right-hand side of the screen). They don't stay in your party for the rest of forever, so you will need to re-add them whenever you re-login to the game, and sometimes when you travel between cities. (Please note that in pre-searing Ascalon (where it's all green and pretty, and not all dead and boring) there are no henchmen. I am including this note as I am not sure what you mean by "reborn"). --Dragon Nataku talk to me 16:47, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Problem with getting the eotn mission blood washes blood

I have a problem, i have done all the missions from the primary norn quests but i can't get the mission blood washes blood from egil fireteller...

I did the mission blood washes blood half way one time. I ridded the sacred altar of arctic nightmares and i saw a little movie but then i got disconnected with my provider. If i talk to egil fire teller now he just won't give me the mission. The only thing i can ask is: Egil, i would like to hear a story... please help me out!!--212.178.141.26 23:10, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

I think you can just go and re-light the alter to make the bear appear and continue. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 23:23, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

I did that but there for you need the story jora with you (not the hero you can bring) or else you cant light the altar... I need to get the mission first....--212.178.141.26 12:40, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Do you have the quest in your quest log? Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 12:51, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Also, you could try speaking to him in Jaga Moraine. See this map. Let us know if it works. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 12:53, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Please note that you can retake GW:EN primary quests at any time in your Hall of Monuments. Just talk to the Scrying Pool, click "I seek guidance," and choose the primary you wish to re-take (in this case, Blood Washes Blood). Also, you can also re-watch any of the GW:EN cutscenes from here, as well, if you missed any (not sure if you disconnected during the cutscene or not, or if you even care about that, but I'm mentioning it anyway). --Dragon Nataku talk to me 17:30, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Please see my note right above what you just posted. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 04:17, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Ouch, that "Repeating the Quest" section seriously need some rework...
Updated article to make it a bit clearer (still needs some work on it, but I'm not really good at writing walkthroughs).
Well, you don't actually need it in your Quest Log, but if you want, interact with the Scrying Pool in Hall of Monuments and choose "I seek guidance" (and choose the quest(s) you want to redo). You don't need Ursan Blessing either, cause you'll get Ursan Aura during the quest.
  • Get to Jaga Moraine and light the Sacred Altar.
  • Talk to Bear Spirit and get/update the quest (alas, you don't really need to have it yet in your quest log).
You'll get a "quest update: blood washes blood" system info message in your chat log.
Now you should be able to do the quest/mission as usual (Jora, Egil Fireteller and the Bear Spirit should be there, as well as the Charr barricades).
Rest of the quest is pretty much the same it was first time you did it (if you need help, check quest page). --NIN37 05:17, 25 March 2009 (UTC) 05:54, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

SS and LB Ranks and Night Fall book

I just beat Abaddon's Gate, and was very disapointed to find out i couldn't turn in my completed Night Fall book. So my question is, why are the rank restrictions so low?(especially for first book). I did no extra LB pnt. farming, just questing, and missions. It seems to me that hitting Rank5 Lightbringer is too easily attainable for this to be a restriction. PS...I achieved Rank 5 right before doing the Abaddon's Gate mission...--74.75.249.83 03:01, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Although I empathise with you, this is probably a question best put directly to Linsey as she would be best at helping on this one. I have to say I do agree and ever since these books were added I hae always felt the limits reqs on NM books needed upped dramatically, say lvl 9 for SS and lvl 7 for LB. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 03:20, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Thankyou very much for the quick response...and i'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks so.... Even R9ss and R6lb would prbly be good enuf...or say u can only turn in one nm book per char. That would limit it enough i'd think. If I wanted to get ahold of Linsey, hows that done?...or do I wait for her response? Or if I'm not the only one to bring this up, can an appeal of some sort be made to GW?--74.75.249.83 06:08, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

A History of Violence

how do i get the mission "A History of Violence" again, since i've already completed it?--75.145.77.121 18:16, 23 March 2009 (UTC)dustin hendel

Its a non-repeatable quest, so once you do it on a character you can't get it again on that character. Other characters can still get it once, though. --User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 18:18, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

if A History of Violence is not repeatable, how can i acquire the quest only skills for elite skill hunter? can i cap them in other lands and still get the title?--75.145.77.121 20:22, 23 March 2009 (UTC)dustin hendel

The elite skills the three have: Auspicious Parry, Star Burst, and Shroud of Silence, are all Factions elite skills, and thus don't count towards the Nightfall skill title track. --User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 21:16, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
To further elaborate, if you do not own the Factions campaign, you cannot use these skills if you capture them. In fact, I don't think the game even lets you capture them if you don't own the campaign they're originally from (the monsters that have this skill in Nightfall are originally from Factions), but it might just let you cap them and then put a big old padlock on it in your bar, kinda like if you take PvE-only skills into a PvP match. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 14:09, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Afaik you can cap them, but not use them without the Factions campaign. Also if you desperately want to capture them in Nightfall, ask a friend who does have the quest active to come with you. WhyUser talk:Why Are We Fighting 16:56, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
According to Signet of Capture#Capturing skills, you can not capture an elite that is from a campaign you do not own, meaning they would be grayed out (or had the locked icon on them).
Since Skill Unlock Packs can't be purchased without "full campaign" or "PvP Access Kit", I guess you cannot capture such skills from PvE either (not sure about accounts using trial access keys...) --NIN37 05:59, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Melee attacks and line of sight -Riverside Province- bug or not?

In the section on riverside province, it states that it is not possible for a melee character to attack either the watchtower guard or the seeker that is usually present with him at the top of any of the towers. This is not entirely true. A melee character can attack any enemy that is "adjacent" to them regardless of the apparent altitude difference. Therefore, in this mission, if the melee character positions them self as pressed up against the door at the base of the tower, they are usually "in range" (horizontally if not vertically) of one or both of these targets. To be perfectly candid, I have completed the riverside mission and bonus with a warrior completely solo (no henchmen, heroes or player support and no ranged spells, skills, or other weapons; just an axe). This concept applies to bridges as well.

My question is should this be posted as a standard game note or a bug? It seems to consistently work everywhere in the game but it does seem kind of silly. I apologize if this has been mentioned before, but I searched, read FAQ and followed the other suggestions before posting this question and found nothing.

--71.115.243.68 06:38, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

I think the main problem here is Guild Wars's lack of a Z-axis. To the game, if you are "next" to a foe who is on a bridge above you, that foe is attackable. I think this is because while the game shows that there are different levels of terriain, there is only one axis controlling the terrain. So since you're next to the foe, it matters not whether he's above you. this is a common problem with bridges, as melee untis under or above you can attack or even bodyblock you, even if they arent on the bridge itself. I like to think of it as a bug, but a game design flaw probably fits the purpose better. Does that make any sense? --User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 20:23, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
It makes some sense, but I believe the z-axis must be tracked in some form as rangers do more damage from different altitudes. This means altitudes (or at least altitude differentials) are tracked. It would seem that if this is tracked, it wouldn't be hard to add the requirement for "<= 'X' altitude differential" before the initiation of melee attacking or body blocking effects. Of course I only know just enough about programing to get me in trouble so perhaps this has been reviewed in the past and dismissed. --71.115.243.68 23:41, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Death penalty? --86.133.133.180 20:15, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
If you are out fighting, each time you die, you incur Death penalty which reduces your health and energy by 15% for each death up to a maximum of 60%. Death penalty goes away if you zone into a town/outpost, or leave the game. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 20:43, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Henchmen are not allowed in GoA. Mostly, it's that there aren't any henchmen there. Whenever you travel to an outpost that doesn't have the henchmen you are with, they get removed. --JonTheMon 16:09, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
