Fleshy?[edit]

It seems to me MOX isn't immune to diease, which would make him fleshy. Bug or not, it's a bit strange. Although i realize it'd be kind of overpowered to have a hero immune to disease, poison and bleeding. --Adul 16:03, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

That's BEEN mentioned.- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 16:33, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
And what, may I ask, is overpowered about one hero being immune to terribad degen conditions?
Thanks to the Whine & Cry squad over in PvP, MOX is disabled in PvP to avoid some sort of shit-fest ("Wahhh his arm pokes through a wall and i can't see his weapon, I have no clue what type of weapon a dervish might be using!").
I think having some sort bonus such as non-fleshy or something else would be acceptable compensation, since he's PvE-Only, and since poor MOX has been banned from the competitive arenas :( --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Aliceandsven (talk).

This is NOT a Dalek quote "Exterminate", "Eliminate", "Destroy". The Daleks from the Doctor Who series simply repeat the word "Exterminate" only, not the others. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by [[User:{{{1}}}]] ([[User talk:{{{1}}}|talk]]).

Wrong. While "Exterminate" is their most famous and most commonly used catchphrase by far, they have many others: "Destroy" is a word they use plenty. They're also very fond of words which rhyme with and have a similar meaning to Exterminate: Eliminate, Annihilate, Obliterate, Levitate... okay, that last one isn't a synonym but it's still a word they use. I'm going to re-add this trivia to the page, but I'm giving it its own line because I'm pretty sure MOX's entire manner of speaking LIKE THIS IN MO-NO-SYLL-A-BLES is a Dalek reference. --Mme. User Mme. Donelle sig.jpgDonelle 08:55, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Actually the full quote should only be atributed to the Daleks. The quote is clearly a play on the quote "Exterminate, Annihilate, Destroy" from the 1966 'The Power of the Daleks'. A search on "Exterminate, Eliminate, Destroy" only attibutes the quote as to the Daleks. All other results are for MOX or just used in a story. Like I said in the other quotes section. The Archon from Starcraft most likely uses a similar quote as a reference to Dr. Who as well. --Dunyas User Dunyas sig.png 22:43, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
I've never played Starcraft, so I don't know exactly what the Archon quote is -- juding from the wording of the note in the article here, it looks like they simply use the words "exterminate" "eliminate" and "destroy" as part of their vocabulary, rather than the phrase being, or based on, a direct quote. A quick google search suggests I'm right, so I'm going to risk removing the Starcraft reference entirely. I didn't want to originally because I wasn't sure if the words were a direct Dalek quote either (although the notion that a quote containing a string of three threatening words that end in "destroy" and contains "exterminate" not being at least a partial Dalek reference is just ludicrous.) --Mme. User Mme. Donelle sig.jpgDonelle 10:59, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
To clarify the Archon quote from starcraft is "Annihilate", "Eradicate", "Destroy". Teranda Whisperwind 18 April 2009 11:11am (UTC)

It might also be worth noting that the "iron man" reference about having a big stick is a reference to President Theodore Roosevelt who advised his successors: “Speak softly and carry a big stick!” (75.0.186.25 12:01, 14 June 2009 (UTC))

Quotes[edit]

Is the correct quote:

"*WHEN YOU PRICK ME I DO NOT... LEAK*"

or

"*WHEN YOU PRICK ME DO I NOT... LEAK*"

--JonTheMon 17:09, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

I believe it is the second one. It is a quote from Star Trek: TNG. The crew is falling to an illness, and though Data was thought to be immune (as an android), he is also infected and begins to muse on his human qualites. The line is borrowed from Shylock, in The Merchant of Venice, when he petitions the court. Shylock, a Jew, is trying to be treated fairly in a Christian court, and points out that we are all human and should be treated with equal rights. -Countess Corpula 13:26, 5 September 2008 (EST)

No you moron its from some shakespear play I believe

What is more important? That "obliterate" and so on are quoted from "Doctor Who" or StarCraft"? Noctarch 17:59, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Does it really say "OBL-I-B-O-R-AT-E"? If so, and they both say the same thing, then which was first? -- Inspired to ____ 18:22, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Doctor Who is from the early 60's and Starcraft is from the late 90's. It's likely that the quote from Starcraft has the same source. Also consider that Daleks are robots and Archons are not, it fits with the theme of MOX's quotes being from robot pop culture. --Dunyas User Dunyas sig.png 18:30, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Regardless of where it came from I believe the starcraft trivia is incorrect. Now, I have not played it in about a month and I mostly pay terran, but I am fairly certain that the archon quote(s) go; Obliterate, ANNIHILATE, Destroy. Then again I could be wrong. 76.93.114.126 07:57, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Actually, its not a direct quote of archons. they will say something when you click on them, but they only say it one word at a time. ex. *click-OBLITERATE *click-ANNIHILATE *click-EXTERMINATE *click-DESTROY. they do say those 4 words, but in a varying order.
I just checked, when you give them an order they say either destroy, annihilate, obliterate, or eradicate. They do not say exterminate. Actually, most of the quotes from Starcraft come from other sources as well. In fact the entire game is based off starship troopers. --Dunyas User Dunyas sig.png 19:09, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Right, thanks on that, (haven't played in a while, SC that is) forgot to sign in and it used my IP Weaponmaster 06:55, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
Wrong, Starship Troopers came out months after the release of StarCraft. It is coincidental that they were even released around the same time. I played StarCraft online for a while and then saw SST when it came out in theaters, AND THEN people started making the SST-esque survival maps.

Bullshit[edit]

I think this is bullshit, You need the first 3 campaigns to get MOX but you need GWEN to use the manual. This sucks, I only have the 3 campaigns after saving up alot and haven't even had enough time to finish them. I'd like to enjoy this too but I can't even do anything good without GWEN. And also I feel that the price of the "complete collection" is also ridiculous as I bought each game from a shop for about £15 - £25 each, and now I can get ALL three games plus GWEN for just £25. I feel highly mis-treated and feel this is unacceptable. Edit: On top of this, GWEN is still for sale on the in-game store for £24.99 when you can get all four games for that price on play.com. This is just ridiculous. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:86.138.118.119 (talk).

Why so cliffhangers?[edit]

According to the manual, someone stepped into Zinn's factory/shop/whatever and ordered the construction of golems for the purpose of killing THREE REALLY IMPORTANT PEOPLE. It's kind of boring to just make it a random psycho commissioning death machines to be built. Technically there is no indication of a cliff hanger here but I would have liked more detail on this person.

3 Really important people, well we've got 6 proffesions with 3 heros, and 4 with 2. so 3 of those really important people could become those missing heros, and perhaps the guy that ordered them could 'join the light side' and become that 4th hero, that way every proff will have 3 heros. @Lt Death: I highly doubt Emperor Kisu will be a new hero. Read the book and you'll see that it names the three targets, none of which are likely to become heroes. I doubt you'll get the other golems as heroes either, but it's possible. I'd like to see those other hero slots filled the same way as this one was, though... something to keep everyone busy until GW2 comes out...

Avatar appearances[edit]

Although, its always good to get new stuff, I was a little disappointed at the limited effort put into the Avatar Forms. Yes, yes, I know can't really complain but they're just so samey, and samey to the base structure... no spikes... no super-cool looking stuff... just the same shape with new paint jobs. I don't know, just after seeing the massive, and unique shifts the Avatars give the human players, it would have been nice if a bit more effort was put into the MOX ones. I must admit that the NEW FORMS were a bit overhyped, but I wouldn't complain about limited effort. Making that new hero, with new animations and stuff, took a lot of effort and with only 2 people working on GW1 at the moment, I don't blame them for taking a shortcut. It's mostly the marketing department you should be angry with, in my opinion. If they hadn't said a thing about the new forms, you'd probably think it was cool he did something different. 87.210.150.58 08:07, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Equip a Bow[edit]

Although Serving very little purpose if you equip a bow to M.O.X he still uses the melee attack animations but at a distance, maybe I am jsut a little simple but It was pretty funny to watch him smashing the ground with no body around Monk Texas Ranger 18:51, 8 September 2008 (UTC) I did this as well. MOX will keep up with you[edit]

I personally didn't notice any speed boosts on him. Ill have to test it out myself; a few different speed boosts on a character, test how well he keeps up at different speeds... I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a natural speed boost. Using Dash and Pious Haste on myself on recharge I noticed that M.O.X. remained the same distance behind me as my other heroes. Also using M.O.X. on HFFF (after killing myself so I could watch) M.O.X. does not run faster than any of the other heroes with or without speed buffs such as Pious Haste. 78.144.132.71 13:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Magic: The Gathering connection?[edit]

I would have assumed that M.O.X's name would have come from the Mox cards from the Magic The Gathering card game. The Mox cards, originally having one per colour in the card game (black, green, red, white, blue) would probably fit with the 5 forms he can use. Sort of surprised that the MTG connection hasn't been mentioned, considering that GW has a lot of links to the card game. ~~[sic] --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Bubbinska (talk).

Can't Store Manual & the M.O.X. Arc[edit]

Okay, I'm on GuildWars right now and I noticed that ever since I gave M.O.X. a new weapon (and dedicated him in my HoM) I can't seem to be able to store the Manual for him. Is this suppose to happen? Also, regarding the question "What's so special about him?", two answers come to mind. With M.O.X. you get access to a new three-part quest arc (mini-mission?) that takes you to all 3 areas in GuildWars: Prophecies, Factions & Nightfall. This is the only quest/arc that I know of that requires all three campaigns to complete. Also, this gives players who don't have Eye of the North an intro to the Asurans. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:68.146.42.31 (talk).

We are talking about a robot that says 'By your command.' It should only be attributed to Battlestar. It's a huge part of pop culture! Type in just 'By your command' into google and see what come up. Blizzard games use many idea and quotes from pop culture as stated above, as do many other game companies. Fair enough, but let's face it - the root use of this term in popular culture was Battlestar Galactica. It's been used tons of times since then (and before, I'm sure), but the pop reference is BSG. M.O.X. in GW2?[edit]

MOX is a golem after all and i dont think theres any specific life span for him as long as hes got some kind of power. I don't think so; M.O.X. was just a first of his "species", and as we could see from the GW2 trailers, Golems are actually quite common. So I guess M.O.X. evolved to a mass product prototype ^^ poke | talk 07:30, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) In an interview (too tired to find it, I think it was with GWO) Ree was asked if we'd meet Vekk in GW2 - she said he died in an accident and even if he didn't asura live 5-10% longer than humans (why am I saying this you ask? this is why:) and she said that while asura don't live that long, their inventions can outlive their master by generations. I.e., it seems to me (and others when the interview got on Guru2) that she was referring to M.O.X. So I think that we very well may see M.O.X. in GW2 - though I wouldn't think that it will be connected to the HoM. Razah is another hero I think/hope will be in GW2. Edit: @Poke: M.O.X. was only the first golem to use dual-powerstones (think like dual-processors), he was hardly the first golem. -- Konig/talk 07:33, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Regardless of "first" status, his technology will still be outdated and obsolete by then. --Riddle 07:47, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
They may be in Guild Wars 2, but not as heroes. Just NPCs. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 08:52, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Funny if we found him in a museum.. maybe being "helpful" to those there (aka knocking stuff over and ignoring targets, the usual). Perhaps he will help with a simple defend the place type quest. Aro User Aro Signature Logo.gif 09:16, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Well I hope he isn't just sitting behind glass, I would like to see MOX all upgraded and stuff, or maybe even just hanging out with the 6 Gods all that time into GW2 drinking tea or w/e the gods do now. - 74.171.163.219 12:00, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

"pvp"[edit]

Under notes:

"Due to its size and hidden weapons, M.O.X is an exclusively PvE hero and thus unable to be used in PvP. (source)"

Surely this line is irrelevant now asthere are no heroes in pvp?81.158.55.251 08:54, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Indeed. Moving the note to Trivia and making it past tense. -- Konig/talk 09:24, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

END OF LINE[edit]

Is there any proof it's from a movie? Sounds more like a general computer statement (such as End of File). Oh, and he didn't have that dialog for me. It was: "FOR YOUR CON-VEN-IENCE, I AM MON-I-TOR-ED TO RE-SPOND TO THE NAME M.O.X.". Aro User Aro Signature Logo.gif 06:19, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

I know this is a very old topic. Disney's TRON 1980 version the MCP (Master Control Program finished his conversations with -End of Line- so it is a movie reference. --Wendy Black 11:00, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Sabrina[edit]

I think the the phrase warning warning danger danger is from Sabrina the teenage witch were a witch in a giant cone suit screams that.

No "Danger Danger Will Robinson" is a cult classic TV "Lost in Space" line said by Robot. Sabrina parodied the line.--Wendy Black 11:02, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Meaning of M.O.X. ?[edit]

This remains a mystery since obviously it is not given to us in the game or his instruction manual. They make fun of G.I.R. (Invader Zim) by restating the line "What does the G stand for?" and G.O.X. replies "I don't know.". Even the creator is Zinn which is so very obvious. In lack of any real information I tend believe that M.O.X. must be Master of Xformation (transformation). Since I have done many undercover operations with M.O.X. and every single time the enemy falls for his disguises. The Jade Brotherhood fell for it while Deactivating_P.O.X. and the Kournan's fell for him being a Corsair in Blacktide Den. So with that said, that is my personal theory (unless the devs prove me wrong). M.O.X. is a regular James Bond of robots.--Wendy Black 11:31, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

I have no good ideas for the the O (Original? Outstanding? Obedient?), but I suspect M stands for "Multicore", since MOX has two cores, and X for "eXperiment". MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 10:02, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Unremarkable[edit]

Suffers from bleeding just like the other heroes despite being a golem. Wish they had given MOX a unique skill at least, like Golem Boosters for example. 119.74.173.229 04:30, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
