Overview[edit]

This is a guide for going through all campaigns as quickly as possible, using a team of relatively inexperienced players (so running past the enemies like in a real speedun won't work). It is played with Ironman rules, so no skills can be unlocked from the start, and no vendors that involve other players (e.g rune traders, material traders) can be used.

  • Note that this is based on the page User:Gelbrekt/Prophecies & Eotn Rush
  • Note: This should probably be done by SIX (or possibly seven) players. Reasons for this:
    • The journey from beachons to droknars (as well as the crystal desert for that matter) is limited to 6 players.
    • Nightfall is effectively limited to 7 players since most missions require a hero to participate.
    • Missions with 8 players can be completed using 2 heroes, e.g Livia Protector and Gwen Panic/Ineptitude.

Proph - first section[edit]

  • As per the Prohp rush
    • Get to Lion's Arch
    • Get to Kaening Center and unlock some skills.

Eye of the north - Getting skills and equipment[edit]

INITIAL BASE STUFF to get (i.e gaining easily accessible skills to become as strong as possible early on)[edit]

Not related to skills
  • Get to level 20 with killroy
  • After Killroy, the armor from Seitung Harbor should be affordable affordable until. (The Warrior should get it from somewhere else, since the armorsmith here needs tanned hide, and there will be an abundance of Iron Ingots).
  • Remember to get the Storybook as soon as you get the the Eye of the North outpost.
  • The Kilroy Stonekin's Punch-Out Extravaganza! is good for making money. In addition to the drops from the units, you always get at least 350 gold (250 from quest reward + 100 from dwarven ale in the end).
    • Make sure you use this money to get the armor from Seitung Harbor as quickly as possible, since this armor helps during the quest.

Quests[edit]

  • Quests to do for consumables:
    • [Armor of salvation 1] The Throwdown in a Norn Town: DEFINITELY Worth doing: It is a part of Killroy's Quest chain that is done to quickly get level 20. After reacing level 20 this way, this quest only takes 5 minutes and gives each player an Armor of Salvation, which is a great help in the run.
    • [Lockpick] Mano a Norn-o Gives a lockpick -> Useful to get high level weapons from locked chests
    • [Powerstone of Courage] Service: In Defense of the Eye: It is likely also worth getting the Powerstone of Courage from the quest. This will save the party from scenarios with -60% death penalty if the run proves to be too difficult (especially if only having 6 people from Beacons).
      • TIP: Don't forget to use the Armor of Salvation for this mission! Not only is it one of the most difficult missions in the run (due to the limited skill set), but the 5 damage reducion is great due to the high number of foes.
    • [Armor of salvation 2] - High Priest Alkar's Quests -> For every 3 destroyer cores you can get during the run, Alkar gives you an Armor of Salvation.

Skills[edit]

  • (It is ASSUMED here that you have already suqeezed out the best skills possible from Michiko in Kaineng Center.)
  • Brawling Headbutt Brawling Headbutt and the other skills from Killroy can be decent, in particular Brawling Headbutt and in particular for the warrior (and ranger since he is low on mana and has high armor)
  • Get Snow Storm Snow Storm from the quest The Big Unfriendly Jotun in sifhalla. Noteworthy about the quest is that:
    • It grants 1000 gold (in addition to Snow Storm), this can help with buying the initial armor from Seitung Harbor).
    • The warrior can capture skills from the boss:
      • Lion's Comfort Lion's Comfort (since it is only available in nightfall, which isn't unlocked at this time)
      • Skull Crack Skull Crack - Won't be used after getting Ursan Blessing, but worth using until then, especially because it synergizes with For Great Justice and Lion's Comfort.
  • Get Double Dragon Double Dragon - This is easier to get than Ebon Vanguard assassin, and arguably more powerful (until other elites become availabe). Also, many characters can use it since they play Elementalists.
  • Get Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support
  • Other skills list below will probably be tough to suqeeze in before the list above. Ineptitude Ineptitude might be good to get, but (1) it is only used by the mesmer, who can use Double Dragon for the time being and (2) it is far away and not super easy to get to.

Eye of the north - Other skills to get[edit]

[More ADVANCED - NOT top prio] Non-elite, Non PvE skills[edit]

  • This section lists Non-elite, non PvE skills that are not available from the accessible skill trainers (due to being late game Proph, Factions & Nightfall skills), but CAN be captured from bosses.
  • TODO: Check through the instances in EoTN to discover where an elite might be captured.
    • NOTE: While the list has been checked for elites, it has not been checked for skills that are unavailable from the existing skill trainers (i.e limited to Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center and Kamadan).
    • (R) (Non-Elites) Charr Homelands
    • (R) Far Shiverpeaks
    • (R) Tarnished Coast
    • (R) All Eye of the north Primary quests: Can be found on the bottom of the page, e.g here Blood Washes Blood.
    • (R) NOTE: A large amount of bosses are available in Sacnoth Valley, However i doubt these are worth getting since they are far away, and are either not too impressive, or available at other places.

ELITE SKILLS[edit]

  • NOTE: I have attempted to list these in order of appearence (i.e the closer & easier skills are on the top).
  • Multiple profession - Ursan Blessing Ursan Blessing : This skill is epic for multiple professions that have no obvious great elite available at this point, (e.g Warrior, Necro and Ranger)
Warrior[edit]
  • Top Prio Double Dragon Double Dragon - Since the rest of the party is getting it, and since the warrior will be in close proximity to the enemies.
  • Skull Crack Skull Crack - Convenient since it is required during the quest to get Snow Storm (as mentioned above). HOWEVER, Double dragon is likely better.
  • Top Prio Ursan Blessing Ursan Blessing is probably best (the other are less interesting).
  • (Not very interesting) Defy Pain Defy Pain from outside Beachon's Perch -> LESS interesting since Ursan Blessing is likely better for both the Warrior and the Necromancer. However the advantage of this over Ursan Blessing is that it allows an additional PvE skill.
  • Enraged Smash Enraged Smash from Indestructible Golem in Oola's Lab. This skill can be decent when paired with other adrenaline skills such as Whirlwind Attack; especially when also using "For Great Justice".
  • (Not interesting) Eviscerate Eviscerate - Available from Blood Washes Blood, however it requires axes (while Skull Crack can be done on any skill) and Eviscerate isn't super impressive since Dismember is already able to inflict deep wound and is cheaper.
  • (Not interesting) Devastating Hammer Devastating Hammer - Available from Inscribed Sentry during Gadd's dungeon. While it is a decent skill this skill is likely not more useful than Ursan Blessing, and knockdowns are already going to be very common in the party if multiple players use Ebon Vanguard Assassin Supports, Naga Shamans, as well as Ursan Blessings used by other players.
Ranger[edit]
  • Shared top-prio with Ursan Blessing Barrage Barrage - Convenient since it is on the EotN path (Blood Washes Blood)
  • Shared top-prio with Barrage Ursan Blessing Ursan Blessing - A great skill
  • Melandru's Resilience Melandru's Resilience - Convenient to get since Tarnished Haven is already a planned route for the run, and because this is the first quest in Kerresh's quest chain.
  • Double Dragon Double Dragon - Since the rest of the party is getting it, and since the ranger skills suck.
Elementalist (And many other professions, since they are Elementalist Secondaries)[edit]
  • Double Dragon Double Dragon from Lian, Dragon's Petal since she is easy to access, and since most players (according to the proph guide) are elementalists.
  • Ward Against Harm Ward Against Harm - While not an offensive skill, it is a great skill overall and available DIRECTLY ON THE MAIN PATH since he is a practically required kill during Against the Charr. Even if this is not the main skill that is used by the party, it SHOULD be captured since it helps in many missions, such as against The Great Destroyer.
  • Shockwave Shockwave - Decent skill available in Riven earth, but questionable if it should be used since DD is already very good, and the boss can be tough.

Mesmer[edit]
  • Ineptitude Ineptitude - Since this is a great skill that is close to Tarnished heaven, which is basically on the way to rata sum and relevant for polymock.
  • Double Dragon Double Dragon
Monk[edit]
  • Top Prio Healing Light Healing Light - Great skill which is available in Blood Washes Blood.
  • Word of Healing Word of Healing - Might be better than WoH. However it is much harder to capture, isn't on any route of the EotN Storyline, and is a bit harder to use.
Necromancer[edit]
  • Top Prio - Get Reaper's Mark Reaper's Mark from "A Land of Heroes".
  • Top Prio Life Sheath Life Sheath from Chaelse Flameshielder - While Reaper's Mark is good, some reasons to get LS are: (1) It provides the party with Condition removals. (2) The staff dropped by the boss is practically perfect (but of course not guaranteed drop). (2) It can be captured in the process of starting the mission that frees Pyre Fierceshot -> BEFORE starting the mission by interacting with the helmet, the main party could go for the capture. Then one party member could go back and start the quest shortly after.
  • Ursan Blessing Ursan Blessing - There are very few good Necro skills available on this path.
  • Shield of Regeneration Shield of Regeneration - From Horai Wingshielder (Dalada Uplands). Pretty decent skill for the necro, since it allows the necro to get some own healing. Convenient because it is very close to Doomlore Shrine and is practically along the way on the quest before "Assault on the Stronghold" Normally it isn't great for a monk, but the necro has much energy.
Assassin[edit]
Ritualist[edit]
  • Ursan Blessing Ursan Blessing - Note, while there ARE some decent rit elites available, Ursan Blessing has great synergy with a spirit spamming rit, since the spirits remain active even when the regular skills are disabled and attributes are put to 0.
  • Volfen Blessing Volfen Blessing - If there are many characters in the party using Ursan Blessing already, and the party has many asura summons and spirits, it is probably WORTH getting this elite as well, since the increased attack speed synergizes with the increased amount of allies AND buffed attack damage.
  • Spirit Light Weapon Spirit Light Weapon - Available in the center of Alcazia Tangle (outside Tarnished).
Paragon[edit]
  • Below are the ONLY viable paragon elites; I checked all decent paragon skill pages; other elites are either not available in EotN or difficult to get to, while the rest just suck.
  • (Decent) Stunning Strike - is available from warband of brothers.
  • (NOT high prio) Song of Restoration Song of Restoration is available from Erasklion the Prolific which DO spawn even during the Heart of the Shiverpeaks quest (not just the dungeon). However this is NOT high prio since (1) Ursan Blessing is way better. (2) It is a detour from the main route in Heart of the Shiverpeaks. (3) Is is clearly inferior to other party heals such as Heal Party + HB, Light of Deliverance, Heaven's Delight, etc.
Dervish[edit]
  • Vow of Strength Vow of Strength - IMPORTANT: This can only be captured by joining the foreign team during the quest "A Land of Heroes".
  • Wounding Strike Wounding Strike - Great skill which is very convenient to get since it is almost directly on the path to Longeye's Ledge. However, VoS is better and easier to get.
  • (Not high prio) Reaper's Sweep Reaper's Sweep (Asterius the Mighty)

OTHER SKILLS[edit]

Top Skills to get[edit]

  • In general, these skills are the top skills i would recommend focusing on, based on ACCESSIBILITY and POWER :
    • Slot 1: Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support - Epic and easily accessible skill.
    • Slot 2: Summon Naga Shaman Summon Naga Shaman If not obtainable, here are the following priorities:
      • [Get one (or more) of the PvE skills from the nightfall campaign, see below].
        • Signet of Capture Signet of Capture - EVEN if the player already has their desired elite skill, SoC might be useful since it can Capture non-elites from foes that are not available from skill trainers (e.g Lions Comfort during the big unfriendly Jotun).
          • Ebon Escape Ebon Escape - Convenient since the party plans on getting the Powerstone of Courage from this quest anyways. Great to use if no other PvE skill is available.
    • Slot 3: Ursan Blessing Ursan Blessing. If not obtainable or another elite is used -> Snow Storm Snow Storm
  • Other interesting options:
    • Ebon Battle Standard of Honor Ebon Battle Standard of Honor - Based in the insight that BOTH this skill and Double Dragon Double Dragon and are bugged, it might be better to get this skill instead. (See here for more info: User:Gelbrekt/Interesting facts). This has 2 advantages (1) The combo appears to be extremely powerful if used (2) If done, there is no need to get the asura summons (Which might be difficult to get for new players) since the party already has 3 pve skills.
Nightfall
  • If going to nightfall, consider doing the quest A Land of Heroes (should take about 45 minutes for the ENTIRE quest chain. ALl BOSSES on this missions have elite skills (some worth capturing!) and the quest is likely worth running twice for this reason AND because it gives lots of sunspear reputation poaints. If getting enough rep points, the following skills are unlocked with MAX attributes:
    • Whirlwind Attack Whirlwind Attack (Great for the Warrior)
    • Never Rampage Alone Never Rampage Alone (Could be worth using by the Ranger),
    • Necrosis Necrosis
    • Seed of Life Seed of Life
    • Both Elementalist and Mesmer Intensity Intensity (Elementalist) and Cry of Pain Cry of Pain
    • SUGGESTION: IF the monk gets Seed of Life --> Make sure the Necromancer gets Life Bond and uses it on several targets. Then when Seed of Life is used on the necromancer, it will trigger Seed of Life for every time Life Bond is triggered.
Other (Probably Less Interesting options)
  • High Priest Alkar's Quests (easy quests just requiring 3 destroyer cores and activating his concoction near a destroyer):

Eye of the north - Completing the campaign[edit]

  • Get the STORYBOOK before doing anything else.
  • During the quests: Remember to get the "racial" passive skills, such as Rebel Yell.
  • Start with the NORN missions.
    • Reasons for this: The norn missions are closest, likely the easiest ones, and since they unlock the easily obtainable Ursan Blessing Ursan Blessing. Also note that this skill helps MASSIVELY with the task of getting to Gadd's Encampment, since the journey through Shards of Orr can be really tough when most players have low attributes and armor, and no elites. Ursan Blessing sets your health to 750 even when at 60% death penalty, effectively guaranteeing that the party will get through.
  • Get the Ursan Blessing Ursan Blessing
    • NOTE: The quest Truthseeker from Gunnar's Hold grants the skill "I am the Strongest", which can be good for some characters in case the Polymock is too hard. This skill is convenient because it is linked to the same attribute as Ursan Blessing.
  • After the norn missions, do the initial quests in the Vanguard storyline until you get to Doomlore Shrine.
  • After getting to Doomlore Shrine, get to Rata sum, since all outposts needed for the polymock quests have now been unlocked. Complete the polymock quests until the party gets one of the summons. Minimum Summon Ice Imp Summon Ice Imp and idealy Summon Naga Shaman Summon Naga Shaman.
    • NOTE: The standard Asura quest line The Knowledgeable Asura gives 7k asura rep for the 3 quests, plus 1k for the quest itself. This puts the player precisely at rank 3, meaning that the Asura summon is level 18! In addition, it is noteworthy that the SKILLS gained when using Ursan Blessing become about twice as powerful when getting Norn Rank 5. As such, the storybook should be handed over to Tyr the Skaald in Gunnar's Hold when completed (to get Norn Reputation Points and boost Ursan Blessing) unless it is KNOWN that the player in question won't use that skill.
  • After this point, it shouldn't matter much wether the asura or the vanguard quests are done first.

After eye of the north[edit]

  • Get appropriate weapons with the Droknar's Key
  • When turning in the storybooks, notice that you get 4k gold in addition to the reputation points; This should allow you to afford better armor.

Campaigns to do after EoTN[edit]

  • After this point, i am NOT sure what to complete next
    • Phophesis should probably NOT be the first mission; Getting from Beacon's to Droknars forge can be quite hard, and prophesis does not really unlock many great skills except for Panic.
    • Nightfall could be done in order to get the initial sunspear skills, but at this time i don't know of any particular elite skills that are unlocked in nightfall (although there are obviously many ones available).
    • Factions does unlock the ability to change profession, which is not done in proph since the crystal desert is skipped.
