How to get rid of summoning stone and their weapons?

How do I get rid of summoning stone and its weapons--98.248.20.180 21:31, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

The Only way I have determined is by destroying them (wastebasket icon to the right of the icons for bags carried) neat part is if you decide you want any one of them after having destroyed them you can respawn them. What you cannot do is only spawn the one or two you want (it spawns all of them) nor can you drop them.

Zone Chat Abuse

There seems to have been an increase in both spamming and offensive talk in zone chat lately, particularly in pre-searing Ascalon/Prophecies. I've been reporting those using inappropriate language (and I don't mean swearing, I mean openly using racial slurs against various groups of people in an attempt to be excessively offensive), but are the GMs still very active in GW anymore, especially now that GW2 has been out for awhile?

Cities of Ascalon

on the "Cities of Ascalon" mission in Guild Wars I must find 3 historic monuments, I have found the first one in King's Watch but I can not find the one in Surmia.. does anyone know how to find the Historic Monument in Surmia for the Cities of Ascalon mission in Guild Wars? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.58.180.35 (talk).

Inventory space

There are certain weapons that are in my inventory that I can not get rid of and are just taking up space. How do I fix this?

If you open your inventory, to the right of the bag icons (above the 20 cells), there is a bin icon (this is labelled as "#10 Destroy item" on File:Invlayout.jpg). Drag these items to your bin - binned items cannot be retrieved. Chieftain Alex 14:14, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Pre-Searing Guild Halls

I have noticed lately that guilds are advertising full guild halls in pre didnt think you could have guild halls in pre due to needing cel. sigil to get hall . thanks for your time .(72.201.110.2 14:47, 21 January 2013 (UTC))

See Guild Registrar (NPC). User Yoshida Keiji Signature.pngYoshida KeijiCanthan script - man.jpg(talk) 15:01, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
Pre-searing characters cannot access guildhalls. The "guild hall" button is removed from the guild panel [G] when in presearing.
The only reason players would advertise as having a guildhall would be so that you could use it for non-pre characters. (yeah its basically irrelevant to put it in the all-chat-guild-spam message if you're in pre). The lack of the sigil isn't the issue since you could add a guild hall using a character outside of pre, just you wouldn't be able to access the hall from pre anyway. Login screen announcement missing

Yesterday I played from a friends home computer and I saw the Canthan New Year message. When I returned home to continue playing I noticed that the announcement is not displaying for me. When I tried to use the Support Forums I get:

I have sent an e-mail.

Today I talked to some guild members and they too have the same issue, so I know its not just me. So I tried to Re-Install the game but not even that fixes it. Advice? User Yoshida Keiji Signature.pngYoshida Keiji(talk) 08:56, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

See User talk:Silver Edge#weekend events. The login screen announcement for Canthan New Year sometimes won't appear. As for the support forums, see this and this. --Silver Edge 09:15, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Meh, A-Net are simply using the social media resources easily available to help keep users informed, I don't see a problem with that. There haven't been many updates recently so there aren't that many new bugs to report either. -Chieftain Alex 12:09, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Hello Keiji,

So long as the Guild Wars client on your computer is updated, you'll see the current announcements. Please note, you'll need to exit the game client completely and restart it to connect to the patch servers.

The Support forums are currently undergoing unscheduled maintenance and we do not have an estimated time for when they will be up again. Please keep an eye on the Guild Wars website for updates.

To help investigate the lag you're describing, I'd like for you to run our Game Advisor application. The Game Advisor will provide us with helpful information about your system and Internet connection.

If you are using a router, hub, or switch, please disconnect this device and connect directly to your modem before running this utility. You may have to reboot your modem and/or computer to reestablish your Internet connection.

To run Game Advisor, please perform the following steps:

1. To download the Game Advisor, go here: http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor

2. When prompted, save the file to your Windows "desktop" so that you can access it easily. Please save the file before running it - running from the website can cause file issues.

3. Double-click on the Game Advisor file and then click on the icon of the game you're experiencing an issue with. (For this test, please select Guild Wars)

4. Click on the "Test Computer and Connection" button and please wait a few minutes while the process completes.

5. Once the process completes, a "Test Result" window will come up. This window will provide you with a link to update your ticket as well as tell you where the diagnostic report is saved. You can also view the report file.

Please update your ticket with this file. If you need assistance attaching a report to the ticket please follow the instructions in the following Knowledge Base article:

- Attaching a File: http://help.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/ncsoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5887

Once we receive it, we'll have a better idea of how to resolve your issue.

Regards,

GM Lemoncobra

Restarting the client doesn't cause any weekend event announcement to appear. As I have already noted in my reply on my talk page, they most likely didn't add this weekend's event to the log-in screen, since the Facebook and Twitter pages (which usually has Stephane Lo Presti posting the weekend event) also don't mention this weekend's event. So it's not the same issue with the Canthan New Year announcement, which sporadically didn't appear on the log-in screen. It's not the first time they didn't note the weekend event on the log-in screen, see the numerous Guild Wars Wiki note mentions of "login screen announcements" on last year's weekend event announcements. --Silver Edge 19:41, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
FYI, the Support Forum can be accessed now. They didn't announce that they were finished with its "unscheduled maintenance" anywhere though. --Silver Edge 19:11, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Computer Switch

If I buy Guild Wars online and I switch to a new computer because the last one had water damage, is it a free download on the new computer or do I need to pay again?!

You can download the client for free from here. Your original purchase remains valid as long as you can remember your access details :D (if you forget some details you can probably still recover your other account details by contacting support). Luckily all the account progress is stored on ArenaNet's servers and not in the user's .dat file, so you won't lose any progress either. -Chieftain Alex 02:25, 3 March 2013 (UTC)
Also, you can copy over the builds and any specific PvP equipment builds to your current computer.MystiLefemEle 10:48, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Need to know/Interactive Skills

Need to know/Interactive Skills:Just needed to know if skills from Prophecies,Factions or EoN are iteractive with Nightfall?

Could you please clarify your question, I can't tell what you're asking at all. -Chieftain Alex 01:00, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
Need to know: If I am playing in Nightfall there are some skills that can't be used unless you have that campaign. I was wondering if I have the Nightfall campaign and I added Factions or Prohecies to my account, would I then be able to use a skill from either Factions or Prophecies in my skill build.
Oh now I get it! Yes you can put skills from multiple different campaigns on your skill bar (you still can only bring 8 skills though). thank you for clarifying. -Chieftain Alex 01:32, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Need to know: Thank you, that was a big help.

[edit conflict](omg i type slow) The 3 campaigns and Eye of the North expansion are all part of Guild Wars. Any skill from any campaign can be used in any of them once they are learned by the character. Once you learn them once they are 'Unlocked' to the account. Once unlocked another character can use a skill tome to learn a previously unlocked skill. Your heros also have access to all unlocked skills on the account.Durp da durp 01:41, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Deleting a campaign game

Deleting a Campaign Game: Needed to know if it is possible to delete a current game & start it over with the same character?

Hmm you can delete the character entirely from the character selection screen and recreate a new character with the same name if you want to at any time.
You can't "reset" your campaign progress, e.g. if you complete a quest and receive the reward you can't undo it... but you can repeat missions as many times as you like. There aren't many mistakes you'd want to revert on your characters in gw anyway. -Chieftain Alex 14:59, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

How do I quit my guild?

I haven't played this game in almost a year, but decided to get back into it. I had no idea I was still in my guild (I asked them to boot me when I left) and have no idea how to quit.

See Guild#Leaving a guild.--Silver Edge 05:11, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

My summer happiness depends on this question

If i have GW1, can i play with someone who has GW2?

The games are totally unlinked - i.e. you would both need to own the same game to play with each other - in other words you will be unable to play with someone who solely owns GW2 on GW1. You'll both need to have bought the same game to play with each other. -Chieftain Alex 21:53, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi

need help finding the skills in win 8 where did they go :/ --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.20.187.147 (talk) at 20:04, 7 June 2013‎ (UTC).

I take it you reinstalled Guild Wars on a new computer? Unluckily the skill templates are located locally on your hard disc and not on ANet's servers but you can retrieve them if you can still access that computer by copying the files from C/Users/*username*/My Documents/Guild Wars/Templates/Skills (or something like that) if you were previously on Windows 7. If you were on XP then the templates were stored in the Guild Wars program folder (i.e. C/Program Files/Guild Wars/Templates/Skills). If you can't retrieve those files, then you'll have to start from scratch. -Chieftain Alex 10:15, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

probabilities of green drops when summoning spirits?

Does the probability of having a green weapon drop from a boss decrease when summoning spirits to help kill it? does it get influenced by who gives the final blow? I have been farming a bit with my ritualist and have not received any good drops.--197.87.133.190 05:49, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

As far as I know you have to be within the aggro bubble to get drops, so it might be worth kiting into the aggro bubble of the boss just before it dies. There was some discussion on whether players using longbows got far less drops - longbows have the same range as spirits. -77.97.208.117 08:22, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
A method of testing whether binding rituals affect you getting drops would be using binding rituals to kill Jarimiya the Unmerciful, who always drops a Bottle of Vabbian Wine unless henchmen, heroes or Vabbian Guards assisted in killing him. --Silver Edge 21:47, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
I farmed dozens of greens with a spirit summoner. I didn't particularly try to be within aggro range and I never noticed any difference compared to the dozens of greens I farmed with my assassin. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 06:32, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
You do not need to be within aggro range to get kill credit. You just have to be responsible for most of the damage, compared to NPCs. Any method of dealing damage works ok. Several people tested in various places allowing an NPC to do most of the DPS, getting the first or last hit, being within aggro range or not, and so forth. The only consistent pattern was if the NPC did most of the damage, there was never a drop. Otherwise, the drop rates were the same as solo farming.
So, in answer to the original question: the chance of having a green drop is unaffected by the use of spirits. It is unlikely to be affected by who inflicts the final blow.75.37.22.65 13:20, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Summoning Stones in Guild Wars Prophecies

Day 1

Noobie here How do I get rid of the 'Party Formation Screen' ? I would like to solo for while to learn about the game before I team up with somebody. How do I do that? What should be my first move? How do I get out of the city? Tks --162.192.0.35 23:34, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Generally there is an "X" button that you can click to close the particular UI. Also, I believe "P" is by default the keybind to toggle it. Start out by looking for quests and completing them to further your progression in the game. You have to go through the different portals to go to different places in the world as well. Hope this helps! -- My Talk Lacky 00:19, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Looks like what I have to do is leave the town and then I could close the 'party formation screen' 'P' toggles the 'party search' box. Thank you for your help.

I'm off to conquer the world. --162.192.0.35 01:29, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Also, as a side note, once you've explored for a little while and found/unlocked different towns/outposts/missions/etc., you can actually fast travel (or "map travel") to them by opening up your map with the "M" key and clicking on the different places to travel there directly and quickly. Happy Hunting! -- My Talk Lacky 15:36, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
'P' will open party search within an outpost, but not outside. In any explorable area, 'P' will toggle the party screen. On a tangent, soon you'll begin to notice that soloing most of the Guild Wars content is close to impossible. Fortunately you can bring henchmen along to not bother other players. - Infinite - talk 16:34, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Password reset

moved from Help:Contents

I've been trying to reset my password for two weeks. I haven't played for 5 years and don't have a clue as to what my password was. Support reset my password and tried to send an auto-generated link to me but the auto-generated e-mail failed. Now no one at NCSOFT Support is doing anything to fix this problem. I'm wondering if I want to continue trying to play and buy a new license? Probably not! Yeah Charles it's me, the pain in the back side lol. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 97.86.9.231 (talk) at 21:21, 5 December 2013‎ (UTC).

Ok first things first, any contributors here aren't actuallly ANet/NCSOFT employees - we're just players - and so can't directly help you. We might be able to provide some advice though.
When you say "failed", do you mean that it never reached you, or something else? I presume you've checked any spam folders you might have, and that you know the email address that you registered with 5 years ago. -Chieftain Alex 21:48, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Setting Hard Mode

I am currently playing in Normal Mode and would like to know how to set to Hard Mode in Party Formation window? --108.183.125.252 15:25, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello there. Per hard mode#Eligibility, to get the hard mode button, you need to have completed the respective campaign that you want to access hard mode in. Its shared between characters, so if one of your characters completed Prophecies for example (Hell's Precipice), then your other characters would be able to access HM in prophecies as soon as they get to Lion's Arch/Ascalon. In addition to having unlocked it, you also need the character to be level 20. Good luck, and any further questions feel free to ask. --Chieftain Alex 16:50, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

40/40 Set

While playing the game and equiping my characters, I see the talk of 40/40 equipment, full radiant or survivor insignias, defensive set and high energy set.Could you please explain: 40/40,where the best placement of the Rad.& Sur. insignias for tanking any character, defensive & high energy sets for team characters. Thank you!

I'll see if I can guess the answers...
  • 40/40 - per the page, its a wand/focus combination both with the following pair of stats: a) 50% reduction in spell recharge (20% chance) and a) 50% reduction in spell casting time (also 20%). (basically you can cast more spells faster and more frequently)
  • Radiant Insignia/Survivor Insignia - provides the most health on the chest and legs, but honestly I'd be using armor insignias. Armor rating says you get 50% less dmg for every 40 armor.. so if you use +10 armor insignias, then you get 12.5% less dmg (unluckily they don't stack). (i.e. you take 7 less damage if the foe is hitting for 50) - the reduction in damage is quite small, but if you're expecting a lot of hits, then it adds up + is worth it. Note that armor doesn't help vs degeneration, so if you're expecting lots of conditions, hexes or lifestealing; then you might take survivor instead.
  • defensive sets are probably using a spear/sword/axe with either of Shelter or of Warding modifiers (expecting physical or expecting elemental damage respectively), a shield that they meet the attribute requirement of (e.g. if it says 9 tactics, you need 9 tactics to get the 16 armor, otherwise you get half - 8 armor) and an inscription vs the correct damage type (PvPers usually carry a shield with an inscription for each type of damage)
  • high energy sets are a wand/focus combination with "Seize the Day" on the wand, and "Live for Today" on the focus. (+15 energy and minus 1 energy regeneration from each, giving you +30 energy but -2 to your total energy regeneration). you only switch to these weapons to cast spells urgently, and then you switch back to another weapon set to regain the energy regeneration.

Add my Mini's to the Hall of Monuments

I started my Guild Wars 2 account. I still play Guild Wars and I can't add my Mini's to my Hall of Hero's Monument. Why can't I add them? They are NOT dedicated yet. Can anyone help or any ideas? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.177.161.145 (talk) at 18:06, 31 December 2013‎ (UTC).

Hello. It sounds to me like you're missing the Monumental Tapestry from the monument. (each monument, except "Honor", needs one of these to be able to add anything to it) Theres one as a reward for completing each of the primary quest chains (3 missions in each of the norn/ebon/midget zones) and one after seeing the first vision (total of 4 for the 4 monuments missing tapestries). -Chieftain Alex 18:37, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

using my heros

on what lvl or part of the prophecies campaign i have access to my heros? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.122.8.44 (talk).

Guild Wars Prophecies as a stand-alone campaign does not have access to heroes. Heroes weren't introduced until Guild Wars Nightfall was released and the expansion pack Guild Wars Eye of the North introduced quite a few more. After these two releases, the Guild Wars Beyond content brought a small number of complimentary heroes to players in the endgame storyline for the previous campaigns. For a list of heroes and where to obtain them, please refer to the Hero article. - Infinite - talk 13:04, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

You are looking for Command line#-image.
Basically:
  1. Create an additional shortcut to Guild Wars.
  2. Right click, properties.
  3. Edit the shortcut target to be C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image (replace C:Progs with whatever the address is for your Gw.exe)
