I got a tormented divine staff on my monk. Probably a coincidence, who knows 71.81.37.135 00:39, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Got tactics shield on my sin so.. probably no correlation --AriettaAssassin-tango-icon-200.png 00:43, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Divine Tormented Staff on my Dervish. Didn't have a Tormented staff in my HoM already. Gaudy Gourd God 02:12, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Well, I got a Tormented Fast Casting Staff on my Mesmer, lucky coincidence with req or not, I lacked one in my HoM anyway. Might be that you get a weapon you have no yet added. Kurtan 02:15, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
I got a Tormented Fast Casting staff. Fast Casting was the highest attribute on my mesmer, I believe what kind of weapon you get depends on your character's highest attribute.93.228.104.204 02:30, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
I doubt the sin was running high tactics... Spell casting stuff is probably Staffs (primary attribute). Shield may be random since obviously we have paragons too but this whole thing may be more geared at adding stuff to hom wrather then actual usefulness and as such all shields may come as tactics. No one listed a non-tormented weapon yet but its possible they just wanted to add a way to add one tormented weapon to hom for those of us who suck at the game. People with multiple accounts just killed the economy on tormented weapons btw. Justice 02:47, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Im dumb, they come customized, which makes sense i suppose. Justice 02:51, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Just got tormented daggers with my sin. No points invested in dagger mastery, no tormy daggers in my hall. Mikewell 03:01, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Got the Energy Storage Scepter on my ele. I didn't have it in my HoM yet (but I had a Tormented Staff in HoM but from another character) and Energy Storage wasn't my highest ele attribute at the moment of opening. It seems the caster weapons only come for the primary attribute, not for the others.--YawgYawg 03:37, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Tormented Sword on my Warrior, with zero points in Sword Mastery (14 in Axe Mastery and 13 in Strength). As with the others did not have a Tormented Sword in my HoM. Cress Arvein User Cress Arvein sig.JPG 06:23, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
I got a Tormented Divine Scepter on my monk (who already had a staff and shield in her hall). My friends got a shortbow on a ranger and a spear on a paragon. -- User Melliechick sig.gif Melliechick 08:11, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
I got the gift on my 2 secondary accounts. used rits to get em. opened them on paragons, and got spears, even though I increased Command attribute to 12. Did not already have spears in those 2 account's HoM, nor do I have shields. Gaudy Gourd God 11:59, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
I got a Communing tormented staff on my rt. Had no tormented staff in HoM, but it means not only primary attributes are given. My highest score was in Channeling at that time. 82.74.48.219 22:48, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Someone know if Tormented Hammer can be get from the Gift ? (because just sword axe and Shield are listed on the page) 95.222.208.194 01:19, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Did quests on Sin, Opened on War, with 12 Axe and got Torm sword (again didnt have sword in Hom) (cant figure out how do to the user sign off :P )~DeManz

(Reset Indent) I just did it on my ranger and got a shortbow. Kind of dissapointed since I always use longbows or recurve bows and already had a tormented scythe on another character, but I guess it saves me the cost of 1 destroyer wep to fill the hall. 31.53.45.224 21:12, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Just added my alt to the table. My ritualist received a communing staff, I have no tormented weapons otherwise on that account. Some more results that are not mine: one guildmate (no tormented weapons on account) received a sword on his warrior; a different guildmate (with a dedicated tormented staff on a different character) received a communing scepter on his ritualist. -- User Melliechick sig.gif Melliechick 21:54, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Called a guy above a liar for saying communing but i guess im flatout wrong. Sorry IP above. Justice 23:35, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
So it looks like Warriors get a Sword if they don't have a tormented one in HoM already. I wonder what the sequence it checks is - my guess is Sword, Axe, Hammer, Shield --Combatter 12:27, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what happened to me...wanted an axe, got a goofy-looking sword instead that I have no use for whatsoever, and luckily I can't trade it or sell it...boo and hiss to whoever decided these things couldn't be sold or traded, and to whoever thought it would be good not to have a choice of what item you get...If I had known the item was chosen somewhat randomly, I probably wouldn't have bothered with the quests. On another note, the items available for redeeming the Wayfarer's Marks are disappointing. Not at all interested in sweets or party supplies...give me DP removal items or buffs, please. Just got a soul reaping staff on my Necro, despite already having an inspiration Oppressor Staff already on display in the HoM with a different character (only other weapon is a Destroyer Maul). 71.185.118.93 05:39, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
This isn't an anomaly - an Oppressor staff is not a Tormented staff - u can get HoM points for both. --Combatter 09:55, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
Got energy storage staff on my elem! so lucky :D mink44 16:57, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
Mine was a Soul Reaping Tormented staff with a perfect "Hale & Hearty" already installed. Not sure if that was a fluke or what, but I haven't seen any mention of anyone else's coming with an inscription. Basically, it has identical stats to the SR Destroyer staff I was carrying when the gift was opened, but without the head and wrapping. -- Tekn0mancer User Tekn0mancer-Awaken the Blood 19px sig.jpg (Talk) 03:31, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

For those of us that already have all the tormented weapons...[edit]

Might we get something else? Should we? Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 05:18, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Would be nice to get them uncustomized back (Why on earth did I buy them, if only I had known they'd be given away for free :p) Murthag 08:02, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Nvm. I just read it's just 1 wpn per account, ccl Murthag 08:06, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

With all weapons dedicated on my account, I opened this and got a tormented tactics shield. Don't know if it's random, or figures always a shield because it's the most common of them. I think it's fine we don't get anything else. It does give you that annoying feeling of how late comers have it so easy. But speaking from the perspective of someone who did get "ripped off", I think this was the perfect thing for them to add this close to the release of GW2. Yeah, I would have preferred something beneficial, but it's OK. I would have done the quest even if I knew I was effectively getting nothing from the beginning. --Mooseyfate 23:12, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
I have maxed everything in the HOM (have all weapons etc) upon opening the gift I recieved a Tormented Tactics shield of fortitude. This seems to be the only tormented weapon you can get under these circumstances - and therefore the drops aren't completely random.

Tradable?[edit]

Is it? Doesn't say anything about it on the page.173.58.93.168 05:45, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

I guess nobody has tried to trade yet, which is unlikely to be done much with customised weapons. --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 05:52, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Pretty certain it says in it's description that it can't be sold or traded. And I think I tried trading with my other account, since my current doesn't need the weapons for HoM. Gaudy Gourd God 07:45, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
At best i think you can trade the gifts on your own account through the storage and you can somewhat control what the gift gives you. So for example i have all tormented weapons in hom and the spear on my mesmer but not on my paragon. if i do the quest on my mesmer and xfer it over to my paragon and open it i will probably get spear. Alot of my tormented HoM weapons are on my mesmer so any of my alts that i wanted tormented weapons for could do this trick i suppose. Justice 09:54, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
I was curious as to what would happen if you have all Torment weapons in HoM and you open the Gift Gaudy Gourd God 09:56, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
It is non-tradeable, If you read the comments on the gift, it Says Can not be traded, As said on the Proofs. -- talk pageThon Ghul|Talk 16:42, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Repeating?[edit]

It says this is non-repeatable, and I believe it. But is it possible to pick up the quests on multiple characters and then complete them? It might be an easy loophole to have forgotten about. 173.32.57.176 18:59, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

I have a feeling you could grab the quests, but not turn them in >_>, or not trade the proofs in. -- talk pageThon Ghul|Talk 19:09, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Are proof's trade-able between account characters?[edit]

Doing the quests on my Dervish but I already have a scythe in my HOM. Is it possible to trade the marks to a warrior and get the gift using him?

There is a mistake in the categorization of the gifts. If you have the scythe, you will get a secondary item on your derv. For example, an assassin friend of mine had daggers already and got a shield.

marks are not the same as proofs. I think the gifts though are tradable through your storage so you should be ok. If you have all HoM weapons you will most likely get the most applicable item for them reguardless. Spell casters no doubt get their staff and martial professions with only 1 weapon will get those. No idea how rangers (probably just longbow?) and warriors work since they have multiple yet equally viable mainhands. Well that seems to be the patern atm anyhow. Justice 21:28, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
Did the quests on war, turned in proofs on war and opened gift on para, hoping for para shield. Received tactics shield. :/ Guildie did quests on mes, turned proofs in on necro and with all attribute points in death got soul-reaping scepter. He did not have a tormy scepter in his HoM. My war had everything but tactics shield. So if you have every tormy wep and just want something for a another char (e.g. my para didn't have tormy shield), I'd recommend turning in proofs on the profession that matches the wep you want, boost attribute points all the way on the req of the wep you want and hope for the best. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 00:13, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
I havnt seen any posts of a shield other then tactics. not sure if im blind or its bad luck or it means tactics is the most universal shield and so thats what they are dumping on everyone. i dont think thats likely though since its obvious the gift "knows" the profession of the opener (or reciever since it may be tailored on turning in proofs as person above suggests) if the form of caster weapons so why not shields too? It would make sense to give warriors a strength shield and every other non-para profession a tactics version possibly (unless people are crying about warrior heros i guess) but maybe they just did it as tactics only for all non-paragons (or maybe all shields). Im very surprised your paragon didnt get a command shield. You wernt a warrrior secondary or anything were you? and yes i would turn in proofs on the character you want the item with wrather then the gift. seems a much safer way even though im pretty sure gifts arnt set in stone till opened based on other peoples listings. Justice 01:00, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Looks to me like the spellcasting weapons only come in primary attribute(no reports of focus item yet?), and I wouldn't be surprised if the shield only comes as tactics. Gaudy Gourd God 09:17, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

007 + Gift GONE[edit]

moved from Talk:Reverie Gift#007 + Gift GONE

I was sitting in Embark Beach, after getting my Reverie Gift, then got 007 (many people in town did, too). Logged back on, my gift was GONE! So were the Proofs from storage. E-mailing support right now about this. --Kristofferus 06:12, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

(posted this on another page, somewhat irrelevant. thought of reposting it here instead. Sorry for not moving it, don't have sufficient privileges) Just contacted support, but thought I'd publicize this. I just completed the 4th quest, turned it in to get my 4th proof. Had all 4 in storage, since the character I planned on getting the Tormented Weapon for is a new character. So I got the new char, gave him all 4 proofs, and went to Embark Beach, America English D1. I talked to the guy who gives the Reverie Gift. Got the gift. Then a few seconds later, got disconnected (Error code: 007). So I logged back in, and found that my gift was gone. No problem, I thought I'd go to storage and the proofs would still be there. GONE too! So I lost both the proofs AND the gift!!! I e-mailed support to see if they can look into it. Meanwhile, make sure you put that thing in storage or use it up right away in case you get 007 also! Many people in town mentioned they got disconnected at the same time as I did. So beware!!! --Kristofferus 06:20, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Did you happen to check the Character who you got them on?, maybe they are still on that character. -- talk pageThon Ghul|Talk 12:29, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
how can you have proofs in storage and have aquired the gift, your post doesnt make sence, either you got the gift then 007 which case you wouldnt have proofs or you 007d before getting the gift, something doesnt seem right but your post is confusing.Spark-TBa 17:26, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
might wanna ignore that last post if its irrelevant, didnt realise what was under the black line was still part of the post.Spark-TBa 17:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Profession[edit]

It also does depend on the profession of the character you open it on, after the first "check" has passed. If you open on assassin, you WILL get daggers, unless it's in your accounts HoM Gaudy Gourd God 09:20, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

"Talk page disproves this notion that they're dependant on the character's profession. People got shield on sin, and staff on dervish - Konig"
Similar to the above post, I feel konig's edit was incorrect.
It seems to check for profession first, and then if you have that profession's weapons already then it gives you something else. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 10:17, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
maybe it does a checklist based on your profession and keeps going through the items in a certain order till it finds a ""hole" and picks that weapon. If it makes it through first check (as in full hom) then choose option one. Each profession would probably have a checklist tailored for it in some sort of priority bases, to the least useful item. Justice 13:03, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
what happens for warrior since they use sword/axe/hammer? 94.171.120.138 22:21, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Seems like priority one is a shield. If your war already has one, it would appear that sword is next up - but as written by several people above, we're not certain how it works. --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 09:54, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Tradable or not : Discuss[edit]

Would be nice if they did. I finished "Valor" in my Hom, I feel like I'm stuck with that gift. Could of used that money for titles or armor for HOM. Torres 09:39, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Its a free gift, and ANet making it untradable means that the micro-economy isn't affected (i.e. prices of torment items stay the same and don't crash due to massive influx of weaponry) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 15:29, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Actually it can affect the Tormented/Armbrace economy a bit. It'll just see less demand for it thus the potential for more supplies. And with more supplies, the price can go down. Despite that none of the items related to the quest can be traded or dropped, the fact that you're getting one means people who needed or wanted a Tormented item can get one w/o having to spend oodles of gold on it (or time, if doing it the old fashion way). — Sixshot 18:44, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah but the added interest in Torment weapons might inspire some people to get items they didn't receive from the gift :) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 09:04, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Now Repeatable?[edit]

I completed the quests and received my gift (and placed it in the HoM) within the first 2 days of release of the quests. I just passed through LA today and saw the quest was there again, available for all my characters. I was able to take it and even checked the other towns. Is it possible they have now made it repeatable? --Jarlaxle Of Eidan 11:35, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Feedback:Game updates/20120820 - they reset the quests to fix a bug or two, but if you have received the proofs/gift from the NPC already then you cannot get another gift. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 11:39, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Can't add on the HoM[edit]

Got this from one of my characters. Gave it to another character (of the same account) and opened it, and got a Tormented Soul Reaping staff. When I attempted to place it on the Valor in HoM it couldn't be added. I do not have the same weapon yet though. Bug? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 78.100.254.217 (talk).

This is more likely a case of the character you're trying to dedicate the weapon on not having the tapestry activated in their personal Hall of Monuments yet. - Infinite - talk 13:47, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
^if that isn't thecase, then maybe the problem could be, that you have Kimmes the Historian set to showing your account's accomplishments instead of your character's Gaudy Gourd God 13:36, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

What the hell is the purpose of not allowing an item to be traded or sold? Especially if an account can only acquire one of such item? I have no use for a tormented weapon, but I do have a guild mate who needs one to finish his HOM, but I can't give it to him. My hom is 50/50 this gift is a waste because of the stupid rule not allowing to trade. As for the economy, only 1 weapon per account isn't going to effect that much.Sonyareanne 14:56, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Allowing this to be traded will allow for users to be able to take advantage of the market and, at least likely in the Live Team's eyes, take away from the true intent of what this was suppose to be -- a gift, and not something to be turned into an armbrace or ecto. And before you counter by saying that "[I] wouldn't do such a thing!" keep in mind that some people would. It would be their safest bet to allow no one to trade it. Also, to wrap things up, this might be something better suited for a forum. «troy.frostwind» 06:07, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

It's meant to help people with one of the hardest parts of the HoM (outside Obsidian armor and, arguably, PvP title (it is if you don't have the cash or patience to grind zquests)). For this purpose, they shouldn't be sold. This was basically Anet's way of giving folks a free HoM point for playing GW1.Konig/talk 08:24, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
A free HoM point is a nice gesture, but it wasn't necessary to make the gesture accompanied by a useless weapon type for most people. That was just plain unthinking. And to make matters worse, in addition to being an unusable weapon (unless you're very lucky) it's also a wasted storage slot too, unless it happens to be a shield or focus that can be dumped on a hero that isn't using that slot. So yeah, nice gesture for HoM, but the gesture comes with disadvantages for GW1 players who still want to play. It wouldn't have been hard to let players pick the weapon of their choice.
