"A character name is required to log in. Please remember one!"[edit]

This message now appears on the character selection screen. Given that it only appears after you log in, which requires a character name, will this message do any good? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Jette (talk).

No. Also, fast casting was nerfed, which isn't in the notes. -- Tha Reckoning 23:03, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Fast Casting's text was changed, but the effect hasn't. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 23:04, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Oh, was that an accident, that they changed it too early? -- Tha Reckoning 23:05, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Probably. It's happened before. –Jette 23:07, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

It's to remind people to note a character name so that if they take a break from Guild Wars, they'll be able to log-in without having to contact support, I assume. Manifold User Manifold Jupiter.jpg 23:19, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Quite. I mean, until you've seen that screen for the first time, to create your first character, the message doesn't even apply... Besides, it's not helping you to log in this time - it's aiming to help you log in in future. -- Splodge of Cat 23:25, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Lion's Arch Keep[edit]

I am going to assume the requirements for getting in is a bit crazy -- you need to have completed EofN (or Prophecies), having watched all the Shining Blade camp dialogues, attended Trial of Zinn and do Thackeray's Scavenger Hunt. Of course, not in that order. DaveBaggins 23:50, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Word on the street is it's just the four camp dialogues and Trial of Zinn. Dunno if the Ice Cliff Chasms dialogue is included as well, but it would make sense. 68.118.250.100 00:19, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
I's the camp dialogues. ToZ is indirectly needed for that, and so are a few other things. Backsword 00:30, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Which dialogues, specifically? --KOKUOU 00:34, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) However, getting in doesn't mean you'll be able to see the dialogue which happens in the keep. I have seen the four dialogues at the camp, but I can't see the meeting between the Ebon Vanguard and the queen when I enter the keep. Erasculio 00:36, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
The requirements appear to some or all of the following...
  1. Have completed EotN and/or Prophecies campaign
  2. Lieutenant Thackeray's Scavenger Hunt.
  3. Attend "Trial of Zinn". (Chark page says you need to have started/completed Zinn's Task.)
  4. Do Lieutenant Thackeray's Scavenger Hunt.
  5. Visit the Shining Blade Camp 4 times. (After the 2nd time, go see Thackeray in Ice Cliff Chasms. See the Gwen and Thackeray page for details.)

  • Isn't it a bit inconsistent that Princess Salma is in both the Keep and in Dukutu Village after she's taken over the throne in LA? (98.179.8.157 00:46, 15 May 2010 (UTC))
Sort of. But it's like saying that the seeing the same henchies in each area would be inconsistent (Xu Davella 00:52, 15 May 2010 (UTC))
But it's like the henchmen travel with you so that's why they are there, but according to the update Princess Salma moved to LA and took up the throne, so why would she be back in the Village? Just saying... (98.179.8.157 00:55, 15 May 2010 (UTC))
I think this is more inconsistent (not my pic) --Riddle 00:56, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Add to that the fact that Captain Langmar is still outside Longeye's Ledge. Paradoxes are fun. ;P Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 01:05, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

For the Scavenger Hunt do you have to bring him one of every item, or just enough for one present. And DaveBaggins are you saying you have to do the hunt twice? Thanks for the help --Evil guy563 10:45, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

No just once. Didn't noticed I put it down twice above. DaveBaggins 16:47, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks DaveBaggins for the requirements. I had only the scavenger hunt to complete (only cake and candles given) - and could not get in. As Hard Apple Cider only drops on special events, it doesn't seem possible to do. :( -Tong2 11:03, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
I was just given a free Apple Cider after spamming "WTB Apple Cider" at the Eye of the North, so I guess it's possible. And after meeting Salma in Lion's Arch, the princess was gone from the Shining Blade Camp (although oddly enough, I have seen the Ebon Vanguard introducing themselves to Salma, but the Ascalonians were not at the camp either). Erasculio 12:58, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

I got into the keep after seeing all the Dialog in the Camp but still needed Cider for the scavenger hunt, so there was no additional dialog yet. After finding some cider, finishing the scavenger hunt and viewing the dialog outside the EotN I finally got the Dialog in the Keep. ChibiCD 13:54, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Its become really confusing because I went to the camp with someone else (I was leader), she could then get in to see the princess and she hadn't done the scavenger hunt! I could not get in, even after doing the scavenger hunt - so I backtracked to the camp and I see the GOX, Zinn, Blimm recruits .. for the second time! Tong2 17:22, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok, so now I have seen the GOX/Zinn recruits, went back to the camp - no Salma - went to LA and got in to the keep! But no dialogue. Maybe I reallly am supposed to have died in that Charr patrol.-Tong2 17:42, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
The War in Kryta dialogues page outlines the requirements for seeing each dialogue scene. DaveBaggins 17:56, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I've just seen that but its by no means as crystal clear as that - foremost is the fact that if you're in a party with someone else, even as leader - there is no way to know that the dialogue you have seen is counted as 'you have seen this dialogue'. Second - I just gave all the items to Thackeray for his scavenger hunt however the requirements to see Langmar's arrival state I need to have done this along with Dialogue 2. I have seen Dialogue 2 but still Langmar's arrival is not occurring in the keep.-Tong2 18:05, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
ok, excuse the spam - but I have an update - somewhere in the Kryta dialogues is missing the fact you have to have seen Gwen and Thackeray speak in HoM-Tong2 18:21, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

If Lions Arch has been taken by Salma, why there are still Mantle banners flying in flagposts?

secret river passage[edit]

it can be found in the nord-east corner of Talmark Wilderness, right next to Ember Wisperwind . interacting whit it will teleport you to a part of divinity coast where the golomesmer lab is. in this instace of divinity coast there is an enviremental effect called Loose magic: while under the effect of loose magic all skills fail(reminded me of sf), i noticed that i could still use stances but when i try to cast spells they fail.84.196.205.90 00:25, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Fast Casting[edit]

It's been reverted in the second update of the day... for the curious, the description said "Fast Casting decreases the activation time of your Spells and Signets. (No effect for non- Mesmer skills with an activation time less then 2 seconds.) In PvE, each rank of Fast Casting decreases the recharge time for your Mesmer skills by 3%." 71.146.65.151 03:57, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

i.e. Mesmers with fast casting high enough could reduce some shadow step skills casting time to such a short period they could jump the villager in the hidden passage even with the environmental effect.--Matty Asia 05:41, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

By killing seers? our freinds? --Neil2250 , Render Lord User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 11:01, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
As we know the Seers are the only creatures that can do anything against the Unseen Ones. And if you look closely you can see that he sucks the power of the Seer in a crystal to put that in a Golem to kill the Mursaat. So Blimm is not just killing the Seers for fun. And we don't know if that Seer was already dead or not. 84.142.89.206 11:14, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Imagine an army of Golems with Seer power cores. "HERE, LET ME IN-FUSE THAT FOR YOU." Paddymew 12:51, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Its the properties of the Eidolon that infuses our armor, not anything from the Seers. They only have the knowledge to do so. Stormray 15:25, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Just went in and took a look myself. It's unquestionably a Seer or at least something very Seer-shaped (link to larger screenshot). Looks paler than usual. Is it dead? Is it a new kind of Golem? And I always got the feeling of very restrained power from them... if it IS a real Seer, how the hell did they catch it? --User mrsmiles tinysmile.png MrSmiles 20:31, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this whole War in Kryta thing is happening after the whole Lich thing right. Meaning the Titans wiped most (if not all) of the Mursaat off the map. Then what do we need a (dead) Seer for? 83.83.171.143 21:59, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

You are correct, WiK is after the events of all the campaigns (EotN included). What the Seer is being used for exactly, we don't know yet. Stormray 23:51, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
However, you aren't correct that the Mursaat aren't still around. That's the very reason Blimm and Zinn were taken on. Read Livia's dialogue with them. She specifically says that the Shining Blade need a weapon to combat the Mursaat. Arshay Duskbrow 03:16, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
My question is: If Zinn is the golemancer, why is Blimm the one dissecting the Seer while Zinn is out walking around? --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 06:35, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Maybe ,just like Gadd, Zinn let other do the dangerous and dirty work? Rhonin Soren 18:03, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

[Reset indent] You know, that Seer might not be dead at all, but perhaps a volunteer. Maybe they have some way of copying something of his powers and replicating it using the crystal. Sure, he might lose his monopoly on infusion, but the Manifest Destiny of his race is to wipe the Mursaat off the map, right? Even if it meant his (possibly accidental) death, I'm sure he'd still volunteer if it meant an army of Seer-golems. --RoyHarmon 13:56, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Heh-heh... "volunteer"... As in thrown into a burlap sack and beaten with tiny stick-and-rock bats. Seer pinata, anyone? If they wanted to crystallize him, why didn't they just get R.O.X. to compress him with his fists? 8B --Thrashed 14:25, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Oh please. Even if he volunteered the Asura probably killed him anyway. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә User Aliceandsven 1.png ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 14:32, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
You know, it's possible that the Seer is actually injured or dying or something, and that crystal thingamajiggy is stabilising his thaumic energies or some wierd thing like that i.e. it's some Asura form of a Seer life support machine. It does look more like they're experimenting on him or something, though. I blame Blimm. Widowmaker 11:04, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
This interview makes it sound like maybe they're building a replication of a Seer. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 14:26, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Talmark Wilderness notes[edit]

I would like to point out that a Secret_River_Passage does not appear in Talmark Wilderness, it appears in Talmark Wilderness_(War_in_Kryta) and since Livia cannot get stuck on a place that neither exists nor has her in it, both of those notes are wrong. Also, it should be in the notes that these changes only affect people who have completed Eye of the North or Prophecies. Eive_Windgrace 05:12, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, that is understood by the notaction of War in Kryta. But you are correct, its in Talmark Wilderness (War in Kryta). --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 06:31, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... I was in Talmark Wilderness last night with my wife, and her Livia flat out refused to move from by the portal to Tears of the Fallen. We were running back and forth to catch up with the WiK dialogues and it happened every time after the 2nd dialogue (didn't notice if it happened before). Neither of us has been to the Secret Passage wotnot, so this bug is just the good ol' Talmark/Livia thing recycled :p -- Splodge of Cat 09:56, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
