Even though I already maxed this on one character I still love this change. I killed the time involved by chest running out of Boreal Station and the zoning kept ticking off drunk minutes at random. i'm really not fine with this. while i really love this update, it makes me feel furious. i got this title about month ago, while i was sitting like idiotic headless chicken watching at my stop watch and clicking (before i realise that i can program double click to click alone every 3 minutes, but anyway)...i'm generous so i tell that is not so awfull (considering really big time waste) as much as my electric bill, for having to have my computer on god knows how many nights in a row. drunkard change freaks me out! --Ireth Tassartir 01:27, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm just glad to finally have room in my monk's inventory again. Had a bag and a half full of alcohol that I never really got around to using. But now I have space with no loss. It doesn't really affect me much, but I think maybe they should have warned us of something like this. They could say, "Hey, we're considering making this change, but we're not ready to implement it yet. You can go ahead and get the title now, or you can stockpile and wait for the update." Then, instead of, "I just finished it last night, AAARRGH!!!" people could say, "Well, at least I have the title and don't have to wait for the update." (Reset indent) is there any math that they've shown or how they calculated peoples' existing minutes into points? because i'm not quite sure it's a very good equation, so before i get irritated i'd like to know what others have found out. (went from 2k+ drunkard minutes to little over 500 drunkard points)

That seems unlikely. Everyone I know was converted exactly with 1 minute = 1 point. Idmz, making tonics spammable would create a lot of lag whenever someone tried spamming them because they would be changing character models every split second, so its best that they aren't. Why oh why could they not have told everyone about this update BEFORE they released it. 2 days before this update i sold about 60 stacks of eggnogs due to the massive ammount of people who had somehow heard this update was coming and were hoarding them for the tiny price they were selling for. TY ANet.

You can now log in as Online, Away, DnD and Offline :D. Small touch, but nice to have!

Prolly put there for folks like Lindsey who get mobbed by chat at login within the 4 seconds it takes to set Offline.

No, you may not. As stated in the developer update pages, the last 4 heroes will be linked to the command all flag to so that all hero teams will not be as strong as all player teams. A minute of silence for pre-update pre-searing defenders[edit]

So many awesome changes that i didn't expect to happen anymore in this update. Guess i should have waited some more weeks before starting the drunkard title, lol. I kinda feel sorry for those which spend 10.000 minutes on that one now...let alone those of them which were lurking around in pre-searing with level 20 - 1000 XP for the daily quests, it must really hurt to see that after your character acted as Charr punching bag for hundreds of hours to acquire this title :D —ZerphatalkThe Improver 22:57, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Terrain/Texture Quality?[edit]

I was in a Prophecies outpost and noticed the terrain looked really blotchy so I hit F11 to check my settings. It was still on high but I notice the noticeable change happens between "low" and "medium" like it's capped now at medium. Setting it to high produces no change, everything looks grainy now, including the loading screen graphics. WAT DO?? --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 22:58, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

I don't know about the loading screens, mine look fine. But he is right about the terrain. Medium and High are identical! They nerfed the texture and I can notice it's stuck at medium, it looks horrible! Hopefully it was a mistake or bug and it'll bee fixed in a hotfix patch soon. - 00:54, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Texture sizes seem the same yes, but for example the environment map on the floor of the Imperial Isle seems different between high and medium. Also what you are describing is more about texture filtering Asuka 02:41, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Mercenary Heroes[edit]

I just noticed it said "Any character level 20 or above" in the store.

Also, is there any info on how these mercs look and act? Do they get the armor you have on when you register them, or do they have changeable armor? Can they use pve only skills since they come from players? 23:03, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Developer Update - Destination: Embark Beach
Sorry, I also forgot to sign previously. My understanding is that you get a visual copy of your character w/o runes/skills to equip and use as a hero. Thus, I doubt there will be PVE skills available. 23:22, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

if some are wondering: mercs start with no insigneas/runes, no weapons and no equipped skills by default. besides that, they behave like normal heroes(braindead, share drops, has a hero panel, etc)--meheezen 23:38, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
the only point of this so far as i can see that is worth something is to have more than 3 heroes from each prof.. example u have 3 more necros, you can have up to 6 Discord/Sabway or combination. Powerfull!--Ireth Tassartir 01:13, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

That's too bad you don't get the weapon they have on... idm so much for runes, this makes it easier to change it like you want, but even Koss came with a weapon customized to him. If they gave your merc heros the weapons on that actual character, what's to prevent you from taking those weapons off of him/her and using them on your character? That would be weapon duplication. 17:05, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
If the weapons were customized just to that hero than no one else can use it... which they "could" have done. For some reason I thought merc heroes would be "cooler" in a way... I still might buy a couple of slots, like maybe 3 for 20$ doesn't sound bad. I can't imagine the need for 8 slots since, about the only professions I want more of is another Necro and Rit at the most... and maybe a Ele to do snowman caves. Devi, I meant that aside from having more than 4 players of a single profession in a team, the mercenary heroes don't have any value besides how they look. If I make one of my mesmer, he'll still play just like Norgu... he'll just look cooler. ^^ 18:50, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

LDoA and Survivor[edit]

I'm happy with and grateful for most of the changes, but there is one thing in the update which may be a problem. The mutuality of Legendary Surivior and Legendary Defender of Ascalon was essential in order to keep up fairness. Now that they are no longer mutual (I guess), Tyrian characters can gain +1 additional title compared to their Canthan and Elonian peers. This gives them an edge in title grinding. uh no, it's NOT a clear advantage. GWAMM caps at 30 titles. (leaving 8 extras?) ...1 extra that takes almost as long as LB and longer than Drunkard now is hardly an advantage unless you mean purely a 100% Aesthetic "I have 1 more title to grind than you do" as if the person who didn't roll in Prophecies some how gives a shit about titles in the first place. You didn't bring up too many points that were relevant to the argument. GWAMM caps at 30 titles and having 1 more title to choose from is an advantage. It's not a big advantage, but it is one nonetheless. One could for example skip drunkard/party animal/sweet tooth, saving about 500-700k worth of consumables. --Adul 01:25, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
they should make LDoA account wide title. I don't care much for HoM site as much as i want to have all titles on one toon. if not that, than i would at least wanna one time chance to be able to revisit presearing with my old toon. they can make it with condition to go there with empty inventory and to be treated as lvl 10 char before i exit again. --Ireth Tassartir 01:06, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
I used to think that these title chances wouldn't even ever happen because of Adul's point. If you compare it's old state to the other titles available, i agree with you ilr. But the new LDoA is really easier than one of the money titles for instance. Or at least less monotonous :P If Anet wants to even that out, LDoA would either have to become an Account-wide title, or accessible for any character by some messy means as described by Ireth - through the possibiliy to return to pre with empty inventory, no armor, no weapons etc. Somewhat like if you enter a cult and have to shave off your hair and shit^^ —ZerphatalkThe Improver 21:14, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Hmn I got my LDoA in 8 hours from lvl 16 to 20... all you need: the quest "Bandits" a char that can easiely beat the mobs that spawn always the same location (like Nec MM) <= lvl 17+, to get high level Mobs, just run and get the exp, maybe heal the MM. After reaching lvl 17, level with MM or Monk. Keep an eye on your questlog, leave 1 group alone (not nescessary if you run the shortest route to get 4/5 of them, depend on spawn), the quest stays still active if you just kill 5/6 of them. So this one isn't really hard anymore. :/ Pro in this case: My router reconnect every 8 hours... so i cant get this title by deathleveling. con: 8hours isnt much :) also: now I'm able to get all titles, before survivor + ldoa was only able for guys that used "bugs" like the candle thing fixed with factions --Kali Shin Shivara 04:29, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

huh? wheres the problem? You can do it after you reach ldoa without any problems in the maingame (as i do). Also: after reaching lvl 17 you can get it in team but it takes a long time. Mini-Map (U) and Hero Commander Binds[edit]

Anyone else have trouble with that not keeping its position? Every time I close and reopen the client it resets its position. Ghosst I Make Dead PeopleTalk

Not only is the mini map resetting to upper left it is resizing as well, and the hero commander 4 through 7 binds are resetting on client restart. I have not tried to reset all binds and redo my entire bind list from scratch but if this is something that is not fixed soon I may attempt that work around to see if it changes anything. But if you read this and have the same problems with the hero commander binds (or other binds that you have changed since this update) please post so I know that I'm not the only one with the bug. Ok, so I tried removing my macroable mouse (next test would be to remove the software also,) restoring defaults then re-entered all my binds. Panel: Open Hero Commander 4-7 drop their binds completely. When I re-enter the 4 keys that I want bound they report being bound to other keys, not bindable commands. If after removing my Logitech software for the mouse the problem stays exactly the same I will have no other choice but to wait for my other pc to return from "the shop" to continue troubleshooting this. What I'm currently getting: P:OHC4 bind<\> shows<shift>, P:OHC5 bind<home> shows<'>(single quote next to <enter> I think), P:OHC6 bind<pgup> shows<\>, P:OHC7 bind<pgdn> shows<caps lock> (shows=what it is reporting as "Currently assigned to:" when I type that key into the bind box) It will take these binds but reset them to this after client restart. --Skekzyz 19:36, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Next test: Tried binding to F5-F8, restarted client, Open Hero Commander 4-7 drop their binds completely, and still report those exact keys as being bound to whatever you put in for a bind on the previous client run so I am thinking this is on Anet's side not mine. The problem as I see it currently is the bind is being pushed off to a key (specifically P:OHC4 drops to <Shift>, P:OHC5 drops to <'>(single quote next to <enter> I think), P:OHC6 drops to <\>, P:OHC7 drops to <Caps Lock>) instead of the command it should be associated with, and when you restart, it sees whatever key you bound each one P:OHC4-7 as the key that it's pointing to not the command that it should be. So something is really wonky in the code for the bind system, which would be better if we could use ctrl/shift/alt mods but that's a different gripe altogether. --Skekzyz 20:08, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Oolas Lab Bug[edit]

yep... i got it...
also - 2-3 hour before the update i played with hayda, mhenlo + lina (+norgu, olias, gwen) form longeyes legde, the whole group wiped out, hayda + aidan stay alive... but i got NO RESPAWN, both NSC got NO Rezsignet anymore. Zaishen Vanquisher[edit]

Embark Beach[edit]

Although I personally have always voiced my desire to have some sort of an auction house, I think that this is the better addition to the game. It has always been difficult to get in groups. Having a central area to quickly get people together will hopefully get more people to play together, which has been a weakness in GW in my opinion. Friends List Bug[edit]

Anyone else having issues with their friendslist, like noone is on, and i know they are becasue they've PMed me and they're also Online in the guild, And no they've all haven't switched to offline mode, but other people have reported this issue as well.

I too have been having this problem. I find that by quickly re-logging in, it usually fixes itself. This will have to do until they fix the bug. --ScorpDeception63 17:13, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
There's something weird going on, I think... One of my other accounts was listed as logged in in the Guild Roster when it wasn't. I logged into that account on a different character and it still said that the first one was logged in. Didn't come back into sync with reality until the character it thought was logged in actually was. Friends list weirdness is probably the same thing :S -- Splodge of Cat 08:04, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Rare Scroll Trader[edit]

Is it just me or did the Rare Scroll Traders stop selling experience scrolls? I checked several outpost in diffrent districts but only the acces to FoW and all those scrolls are sold. Are they sold out or did Anet remove them? Wanted to start getting survivor on my main, wich will be a lot harder now. H A M S T E R T J E 12:02, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Party Templates[edit]

Who else thinks that a functionality where you can load a set of heroes and their bars from a template would be awesome? Because we're not lazy enough already. I'm not saying this update was inadequate - let's be honest, it's above and beyond expectations - but perhaps this would be good fodder for the next one. My Talk Sponge 19:20, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

After playing over the weekend, here's a bunch of random feedback. Overall I just love the build, but there are still a few rough edges. I hope your WoC schedule permits a bit more polishing before moving on.

  • Love my 7 heroes. Will take me a while to figure out the perfect builds, which is fun!
    • Having 7 hero windows onscreen takes up a lot of screen space. Any effort to compress the information would be greatly appreciated.
      • A simple way to toggle window title and borders on and off (e.g. by clicking on the face icon) would help a lot, instant ~30% reduction of vertical space.
      • supporting multiple monitors and the ability to drag hero windows, mission map and chat to the second monitor would be awesome, though I know it won't happen ever. :(
    • The hero windows for heroes 4-7 randomly disappear when changing instances. I hope that can be fixed.
    • Has the dialogue in Quiz the Recruits been changed? "especially since you can have only three Heroes with you at any given time". I don't have a free char slot to check.
  • Haven't had the chance to test Mercenary Heroes yet, but I do look forward to replacing Norgu and Olias with someone more visually appealing.
  • Embark Beach. Nice!
    • Yay for Zaishen Vanquish, even though I finished my legendary vanquisher a while ago. Could you add the sign to Temple of Balthazar, too? And the Zaishen Combat to embark beach? Bounties of Competitive missions etc are interesting for many PvE chars, too.
      • Me dreaming again: add Wanted by the Shining Blade to Embark Beach/GToB, too. I suppose it's difficult to check whether the requirements (ability to access Lion's Arch Keep) are met?
    • Travel NPCs: removing travel from the usual travel interface (the map) doesn't feel intuitive. I understand that technical issues prevent you from using the perfect solution, but something similar to this should have been possible? Just adding Temple of the Ages and Chantry of Secrets would allow us to 2-step-travel anywhere without disbanding the party in Kamadan or resorting to pure text-menus.
    • The long hikes on embark beach make me wish for Master of Winds or an everlasting fruitcake. The layout is awesome to hang out, chat and group up, but not so much to pop in, grab the daily quest, sell stuff, and keep moving.
  • The other UI updates (Minion Panel, Ready status, ..): simple ideas that are incredibly useful. Nice!
  • Titles: nothing that affects my characters, but good changes none the less.
