Shadows in the Jungle... Kieran Mission

Done Vengance of Blades twice now and I cant seem to get the next mission in the scry pool...does it appear there? Am I missiong something..this is the mission to get Mr Thackery! --92.8.199.73 09:17, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

thanks

After Shadows in the Jungle is The Mantle's Guise, which is given by the object Shining Blade Cloak in Watchtower Coast. Like most of the quests in that series, you have to find the object, then take it to the Scrying Pool. The Wiki has walkthroughs and pictures to help with all the steps of course, I hope this helps. ~Farlo Talk 11:05, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

But I need to do Shadows in the J ! I can't pick up the mission! ty--92.8.199.73 11:36, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Oh! My bad, I read it wrong >.< All of these missions require to you figure out a hint and find an object in the world before you can do the mission. The one preluding Shadows in the Jungle is The Broken Sword. Once you get the item, then take it to the Scrying Pool and start the mission. ~Farlo Talk 19:38, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Surviour Henchmen?

A guild mate asked me this the other day....

If I buy the "bring one of your charactors as a henchman" and I use a surviour charactor as said henchman and he dies, does that end his title once I go back to playing him? Yoe Dude 23:17, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

No. You aren't bringing your character, you're bringing an NPC who looks like your character and uses quotes you selected. –Jette 00:03, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your answer, sorry I couldn't find this anywheres. Yoe Dude 00:18, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

You checked all of Shing Jea Island? That's often one of the missing locations. The other commonly missed areas are the non-required zones in Jade Sea and Echovald Forest: Rhea's Crater and Mourning Veil Falls. Good luck and please let us know how it goes. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 07:18, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
While we're at it, the explorable version of Nahpui Quarter is another easily missable zone. No reason to go in there besides vanquishing, cartography, and one ranger elite skill. - Tanetris 08:16, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

First, we are not Anet. Second, try talking to Kimmes The Historian and change your view to account mode (I'm assuming you re-entered with a different character). Other information can be found at Hall of Monuments and "Devotion".
(EDIT) On a second read, you left your miniatures on the ground, and zoned out? They are gone. Also, Anet is incapable of creating/restoring items. I'm sorry for you loss. G R E E N E R 11:29, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
In order to dedicate miniatures (or use any of the other monuments in the Hall of Monuments, besides the "Honour" monument) you first need to activate that monument using a Monumental Tapestry. You get your first one of these pretty much the first time you speak to Gwen in the HoM, IIRC, and the rest you can get after completing certain parts of the Eye of the North storyline. If you don't use a Monumental Tapestry on a certain monument then you cannot use that monument. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 17:46, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Underworld Speed Clear (UWSC)

This game is so fucking stupid, I don't know how people are able to get experience without being able to join a party. People only accept other people with "experience" and proof of that "experience" is those summoning stones that people ask for. How are people who are new, supposed to get summoning stones in proof of experience if no one is ever going to let them join? It sucks how people say "you dont have those stones, you dont have experience, so i'm going to kick you out of the party." I want to know RIGHT now why?

What I'm fucking saying is, if you don't play how do you get experience??99.252.163.223 22:15, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

thank you for not answering. 99.252.163.223 23:37, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

First, responses here are from players, not ArenaNet or any other dedicated support group, and are not instant by any means, so hold your horses. Second, this isn't really a "game" question, but whatever, that's semantics. Third, the best way to learn any new part of the game is to find a group of like-minded players, or better yet, a guild, that focuses or can assist in that content. I personally don't know the dynamics of UWSC as I never do them, but I can only image there being dozens of guilds and groups doing it and looking for permanent members for the clears (As we all know, you can never farm Ectos too fast). ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 23:54, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Is your problem a lack of experience or a lack of stones? Speed clears require significant familiarity with the area and builds involved. Speed clear PUGs are interested in doing the run, not in teaching it to people who don't know it already. As Farlo said, join a UWSC-oriented guild if you want experience. A speed clear guild is also less likely to discriminate against you for lack of stones. --Irgendwer 23:56, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
You are equating "casual playing" with "specialist playing." There's nothing stopping you from forming a PUG to visit UW; they might be looking for certain builds, but they generally don't have entrance exams to join. In contrast, as Irgendwer notes, "speed clearing" is a different level of gaming. The goal is clearing things quickly; anyone without specific UW experience (and even without SC experience) is going to get in the way, no matter how skilled they are elsewhere. These are groups that visits many times a day, so even losing five minutes to tell someone where to go is too high a price to pay. The stones are a good test of this: anyone without tons of 'em clearly won't be able to be quick enough for the group.
Besides Farlo's suggestions, you can also just look for people who farm UW a lot...but don't care about speed clearing. Get a lot of practice in and then, you might be able to convince those same people to work on getting faster. The web (including PvX) has plenty of info about routes, builds, and tactics for team clearing and speed clearing.
I'm generally against elitism, but I don't think that's what's going on here: these teams are asking for specialists and it's reasonable for them to require proof. (As a side note, plenty of players who excel at UWSC are not very good elsewhere in the game, for any of a variety of reasons.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:31, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

/guild emote

There really should be some more information on it when possible, so if nobody knows I'll as on the requests for research page or something.

For some reason, the /guild emote works for me even though my guild is not ranked on the ladder. I can access all 5 emotes. In fact, different members of my guild have access to different levels of emotes. How exactly does this work? --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 21:50, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

PvP weapons fot PvE?

I'am wondering if PvP weapons can be used in PvE, or are they for PvP use only?

In the event you can conjure up a PvP weapon for a PvE character, I imagine you could use it in PvE, but that would require some pretty heavy voodoo. –Jette 09:19, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
You can get PvP items on a PvE character only through use of the Promotional weapons. The game treats those items as PvP items thus allowing you to change their skin via Tolkano. For example, here is a PvE character with a Wolf's Favor turned into a Jug. But you can't change most of the mods on them though so other than aesthetics its pretty much useless but it's near impossible to get underrated Prophecies/Factions weapon skins such as the Jug with perfect stats anyway as they are have fixed inscription slots and no-one farms them anyway. Creative use can get you cheap q9 Voltaic Spears for your PvE characters/heroes however and this is the only way to obtain the Greater Arced Blade on a PvE character (through altering the Glacial Blade). Hope that helps. ZencowUser Ox rider Sig.png 09:48, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
That's somewhat misleading. The short answer is: no, PvP-specific weapons cannot be used in PvE.
The longer story is: you can obtain PvE weapons with similar or identical skins to those in PvP; promotion weapons are one example (like any PvE weapon, they can be used in either format). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 10:06, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
Answer: Weapons created with the /bonus command converted into PvP weapons via Tolkano can be used in regular PvE play. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 12:26, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Min enforcer drops

hello,i've post this question in the miniature peacekeeper enforcer page.

are the war in kryta green minis drop for foes in the 'wanted by the shinning blade' quests?

if possible, they drop in normal and/or hard mode?

thanks. Nosferatu Leshrac. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.154.149.199 (talk).

To the best of my knowledge, all peacekeepers in the War in Kryta have a chance in dropping that item. The drop rate is probably better in hard mode than normal mode. G R E E N E R 15:28, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Why is this name forbidden?

I tried to create a character named Tallulah Tearfall, but apparently the name was against the naming policies. I tried with Tallula, same error. The problem is in the name Tallulah because I finally named the character something else that included "Tearfall".

Why is the name Tallulah forbidden? 84.248.129.95 18:44, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Their name parser looks for letter combinations, not just whole names. So the problem might be lul or something less than obvious like that (e.g. a cuss word in a non-English language that was used a lot in the past).
Your best bet is to send a support request asking for permission to use the name (and, if not possible, an explanation as to why it's forbidden). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:57, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Unable to start Consulate Docks

I cannot start the Nightfall mission "Consulate Docks" with my Prophecies character. I cannot find Dunkoro and cannot reload any of the exclamations that brought me to the docks.--76.172.104.33 06:14, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Your character's first quest upon reaching the Nightfall campaign should be Battle Preparations. Start looking from that article. G R E E N E R 06:40, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
It sounds like you got a ferry to Consulate Docks, for whatever reason. When you first loaded in Nightfall, you were in the Sun Docks (there's an exit near storage in Kamadan). There were two NPCs there with quests. Take those two quests, enter Kamadan, then go outside into Plains of Jarin and head forwards and left to find Kormir. She will give you your first four heroes (including Dunkoro). I hope that helps! Oh, and btw, you cannot actually do the Consulate Docks mission if you got a ferry there until you actually get to that point in the storyline by following the storyline. Monumental Tapestries not working

I cannot get to activate my Monumental Tapestries in the Hall of Monuments. How do these work?--76.172.104.33 06:17, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Take a Monumental Tapestry to one of the pedestals in front of a monument. G R E E N E R 06:41, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
Double clicking on the tapestry does nothing. Moving a tapestry from my inventory to the pedestal just drops the tapestry on the floor. Clicking on the pedestal just asks if I want to view the items on display (which is nothing). Sorry for such a simple question (with probably an obvious answer that I cannot figure out), but I'm at a loss here.--76.172.104.33 05:01, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Simple questions can also be the most frustrating for both sides, so don't worry. There are 4 tapestries to earn, and 5 monuments in your hall. One monument, "Honor", is opened automatically for you when you first enter your hall. For the moment you can ignore this monument and follow the steps below:
  1. Place a Monumental Tapestry into your characters inventory. Enter your hall with that character.
  2. Look around you holding down the "Alt" key, and you will see yellow text saying things like "The Monument of 'Devotion'" etc. Click on one of them other than the monument of Honor.
  3. When you read through the text and scroll down, you should see a statement such as "The monument looks empty. A tapestry covering the wall behind it would make it seem more complete." and the option to select "Yes Display a tapestry."
  1. if you do not see the above option, then either you do not have the tapestry in your inventory, or you have already unlocked that particular monument. In this case, you should see a large reddish tapestry hanging behind the pedestal.
Come back here and let us know if there are any issues. I remember doing this for the first time, and I fortunately had a guild member at my side to make it easier. G R E E N E R 05:35, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Called Shot

This skill that i have just tried says that the arrow moves 3 times faster, and it's 3 seconds recharging time. And there was 0 seconds to activate, how come it takes way too long to shoot at the enemy? I'm not using any skills before it, so i don't see the problem. Please and thank you.99.252.163.223 22:11, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

If an attack skill has no activation time listed, it uses the weapon's base attack speed. In the case of a bow, that's pretty slow. The faster movement speed only affects the arrow itself after it's shot. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 22:13, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Critical Arrows

I am wondering how an arrow can become critical? Is there a skill you must apply first to make it critical or what? There are several skills that can only function properly when the arrows are critical, such as preparations...etc. I'd like to know, because it's not like being an assassin and there's an attribute just for critical strikes. Please and thank you.99.252.163.223 22:21, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Critical hits are random and depend on a few factors. See the Critical hit page for details. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 22:24, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

3-slot mercenary/hero pack problem

I purchased the 3-slot mercenary/hero pack from the Guild Wars store today. I registered 3 characters of 3 separate professions but they are only accepting warrior weapons. The Ranger will not equip a bow and, though she is listed as a Ranger on the skill menu, she cannot equip Ranger skills. The warrior is the only one who works.

Please let me know if I am doing something wrong or how I can correct this.

I am hoping that you have figured out the issue by now, but just in case there is something very odd that I noticed. Pls, check the monk's AI - i may be wrong, but this year after a certain upgrade his inteligence is somehow broken - When playing PvE I am tanking a group of enemies and in his earshot I am the only one who takes damage and he is not healing at all... Finally I am dead and after he resurrects me, everything goes ok (in most of cases)... It is more rare, but sometimes he ignores my healing at all... just getting dp - even 60% in one minute... He could just be running out of energy. I think heroes also used to act odd about healing you if you flagged them and they weren't quite within casting range, but I don't know if that's still applicable. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 13:21, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

So there are more information for you. I add it happens in hard mode. Monk's build is standard UA build with two or three different skills (all healing ones). Party consists of almost each profession hero (2xMe,P,Rt,N,Mo) I play assassin with WoA elite. It happens while I am tanking a group of enemies. I put on myself defensive skills (critical defenses+low lvl prot spirit) and still in monk's range (he is full energy) I move while getting a bit dmg from all the group. My health gets down slowly because of prot. spirit, but monk does nothing. This state can last even 10-15 seconds... Result is that I die... in a moment I am resurected and after that monk's is healing properly. I rly dont know, what could be wrong... --Calixos 09:30, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Black Moa for HoM

I have a Black Moa bird as a pet It was charmed by my Ranger hero then taken to the Zeishen menagerie where I recharmed it with Ranger as my secondary profession. It was already a level 20 elder moa and I paid 2000 Balthazar faction to have it evolved. I have taken it to the Hall of monuments but it is not accepted for Display on the Fellowship stand and is not listed as being owned by me on the Rewards list. It definitely belongs to me and follows me around! Where have I gone wrong? Jay --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2.100.153.249 (talk • contribs) at 19:47, 25 June 2011 (UTC).

Thanks for your prompt reply
The dialogue I get is just the Options - Examine Monument Gaze on Display Rearrange display.
i already have 3 statues of my Heroes on display so i assume there is a tapestry. I am the Party leader and in character mode. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2.100.153.249 (talk • contribs) at 20:17, 25 June 2011 (UTC).
See what happens if you choose re-arrange display to double check whether, for some weird reason, the Moa is already included but not displayed. (I doubt this is it, but it's easy to check.)
The other thing I would try is: go back to the pet farm, give this Moa away, and then talk to Wyn to get a new one. Make sure the new one is evolved (hearty is fine). Then return. It's possible that you happened to choose an unevolved/insufficiently-evolved Moa; the Monument wants L20 plus. (This one is worth trying twice; apparently sometimes ppls aren't able to get the monument to recognize the pet for reasons yet to be determined.)
If neither of those things work... I would report this as a bug (on the new forums). (Also: for what it's worth, it appears that you did everything correctly; I think it's the game that's having issues, not you.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:34, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Hi I have been back to the Menagerie twice and changed the black moa. I have checked that the Hearty Black Moa is level 20 and evolved and I returned to the Hall of Monuments Fellowship stand on each occasion but same result. I got the same message. The statue would not go on with the three Heroes, and the Black Moa is listed as not obtained in the guild Wars Rewards calculator I have even taken it fighting with me! Obviously it is disappointing as it would be worth 2 points and rewards for Guild Wars 2 Jay

Could be tapestry issue; check by switching back from account-wide Hall by talking to Kimmes The Historian in your Hall of Monuments and you may realise you do not have a tapestry displayed for that character. Also, you ARE bringing your bird along with you to the HoM by equipping Charm Animal or Comfort Animal right? P.S Lvl 20 Elder pets CAN be displayed so buying the Dire/Hearty upgrades was unnecessary for the purposes of HoM. ZencowUser Ox rider Sig.png 11:27, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
I'm sorry that nothing has worked. Yet.
It's worth trying Ox Rider's suggestion (but, based on your earlier description of things you've tried, I don't have high hopes). I think you should contact support, either via email or through the new forums. While you're waiting for them to respond, you can also try having another character charm an evolved L20 Black Moa in the pet farm and have that second character dedicate the statue (that will also work for your HoM score).
Good luck and please keep us posted. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:59, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for all your help. Yes I had a tapestry, bird and spell Charm Animal equipped but no luck with that character.
I took your suggestion and changed character, went for a Playful Moa level 20 and took it to HOM where all stands were empty although linked account. I didn't understand that. I got a tapestry from Gwen and put that and Black moa statue up! Restarted computer, saw rewards calculator updated and black moa with 3 Heroes on Fellowship stand! Thanks again anyway Jay --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.241.9.153 (talk • contribs) at 18:29, 26 June 2011 (UTC).
Super! I'm glad something worked. (You might try getting the Moa statue for your original character again later.)
The reason your second toon saw empty stands: the HoM can be viewed per character accomplishments or per account; the HoM calculator only shows per account. Your first character had started adding statues; your second character had yet to add even the tapestries. (If you speaking to Kimmes and switch to account-wide view, you will see a combination across all toons on the account; I usually leave it in character-mode so it's easier to tell what's missing. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:40, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Sorry! I didn't know any of that although I had searcned. i had always viewed in account wide view
