What is this project?[edit]
I've been looking at the inscriptions page and seen it's lacking a lot of information and some other information is incorrect, so I'm gathering details here before I wade in with my edits.

Inscription images[edit]
I've looked at these closely in game, here at GuildWarsWiki and at GuildWiki, and I'm concerned we don't have the right images for these at the moment. We're missing a few and, just for the record, GuildWiki seem to be missing one too. I think the images should be as follows:

Description[edit]
An Inscription is a salvageable upgrade component, and applies to any equippable item (Weapon, Focus item or Shield) with an inscription slot.
Inscriptions were introduced with the Nightfall Campaign in October 2006. In the case of an inscribable item, the inscription takes the place of the inherent mod in weapons, and one of the two mods in shields and focus items.
Acquisition[edit]
Inscriptions can be salvaged from any weapons that carry them with an expert (or above) salvage kit. Inscriptions are always successfully salvaged, but as always there is a chance the item and any upgrades remaining on it will be destroyed. (For a breakdown of the odds see Salvage)
Weapons carrying inscription slots can be obtained in the following ways:
- Nightfall
- Any drop of item rarity blue, purple or gold has a chance of carrying an inscription slot and inscription.
- PvP
- Any equippable non-unique item which drops from the Hall of Heroes elite chest has a chance of carrying an inscription slot and inscription. (Confirmation required that this isn't in fact guaranteed)
Note: Some weaponsmiths in Nightfall craft weapons with an empty inscription slot on them, but never weapons carrying an inscription. Collector weapons never carry inscription slots or inscriptions.
