[edit] Notes
- Death by impact against a large ball of fire does not incur death penalty. Use this as an advantage in hard mode to avoid accumulating DP upon death.
- Pain Inverter is effective against his AoE Spells.
- One method to kill him is to use Arcane Echo and Pain Inverter while bonded, with him ahead of you and your team behind you, each at the edge of the aggro bubble. Your team heals you (and resurrects you) and stays out of damage range. It helps if your team has Rebirth, or if you make Ilsundur approach you a bit, so as to avoid being in aggro range when brought back to life.
- If you stand right between the inner and the outer edge, the large fire balls won't get you. If flagging your NPCs there, remember that he uses many AoE spells, especially Savannah Heat.
- Heroes will tend to walk towards you if Ilsundur gives them a fire bomb, including melee, so beware.
- He may cast the Fire Bomb on any ally. Accordingly, summoned allies through skills, e.g. minions or Asura creatures like from Summon Ruby Djinn can prove to be useful against Ilsundur. Minions will immediately drop the Bomb as they cannot hold bundles.
- Curiously enough, he is not immune to Burning. Paragons should consider exploiting this with "They're on Fire!" coupled with "There's Nothing to Fear!" for high party-wide damage reduction.
- A Horns of the Ox + Moebius Strike assassin can keep Ilsundur on the ground practically all the time once his health drops below 50%. Watch your health, however; his Shield of Fire special skill can leave you vulnerable to a sudden spike.
- As of the 29th February 2008 update, Ilsundur will no longer regenerate hit points.
- The damage from Shield of Fire can be reduced with skills such as Protective Spirit. This is especially important if using Ebon Vanguard Sniper Support, because if the additional damage triggers the user will be killed.
- He is immune to the Dazed condition in Hard Mode.
